Es una lástima que este restaurante se haya visto obligado a cerrar. Uno de los pocos restaurantes indios que en realidad tenía Methi Ghust en su menú, y también era una delicia. Amplias porciones de carne, excelentes arroces y un paratha relleno completaron la fiesta.Gracias al personal también: educado, servicial y nunca condescendiente como lo son algunos restaurantes menores.Esperemos que el propietario pueda encontrar un local de reemplazo cercano, pero me temo que el área de Elephant and Castle pronto estará más allá de la redención. Este es un restaurante único. I dropped in here about 6.30pm on Wednesday. Don't be put off by the somewhat tired exterior and location over-looking the Elephant & Castle roundabout (1 min from Tube station) as this gives way to a really pleasant authentic feeling curry/tandoori house on the inside. The interior is complete with china elephants, suitable piped music, and a decent sized palm tree too! Clean linen on the tables, well laid up and with comfortable seating - all good so far.

Friend and I attended on route to the city for w concert. We ordered, great service and the food came in good time. Stunning food, generous and very tasty. Really enjoyed the restaurant and cannot wait to return. Cannot fault either the food or the service, we found the place exceptional and would strongly recommend to others

Ordered food from here twice. Prices are reasonable and food is not bad neither, however the service is absolutely terrible!! Myself and my partner waited 10mins to be seen to order a takeaway. We were in the middle of the restaurant and not one of the three people serving came over. All three members of staff were unfriendly and unwelcoming. Well shame on you castle tandoori, you have lost out on our custom tonight! If you want to order from this place - ring only!

Food always hot and fresh, staff polite and courteous without being intrusive. Price reasonable. My partner and I visit regulary and are never disappointed. Highly reccomended. Thank you for yet another excellent dinner.

My family and I went here for a birthday meal on 18th Feb...Food and service was magnificent..Brought back so many memories... Staff were faultless and the entire meal was superb... My fiancee is quite fussy about her food, but is still raving about it.... For four of us, including starters, alcoholic drinks, mains and side dishes, the bill was less than £90, which we all thought was very reasonable.... Thoroughly enjoyed the evening and heartily recommend this curry house

This was my first time eating from Castly Tandoori and it was beyond imaginable. The food was very delightful and I can't praise the Lamb enough! Next time I'll definitely get a larger order. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Desafortunadamente estábamos muy decepcionados, lo único que estaba bien era el ajo naan, y el arroz pilau, pedimos la mezcla de korma y pollo, Aloo Saag, y parece que el chef tomó una sobredosis de sal, como el korma y la parrilla de mezcla. y el saag era tan salado que no podíamos comerlo. I discovered this place earlier this year and have been back since. I rarely go to the same restaurant more than once so it must be good! The owners are very friendly and the food is fantastic.

Wife and I went there as yards from our new flat - I had the mixed tandoori kebab, and had to leave it as to spicy - some work colleagues who are Indian went and said never again - extremely poor quality - even the butter chicken was hot - much better alternatives - would not go again

Delicious prawn curry. Very friendly and attentive service... AND last but not least some of the most charming Asian decor I've seen in London. Think faux marble pillars, karma sutra paintings and colourful carpeting with little and LARGE elephants.

We usde Google to find the nearest Indian to the Imperial War museum and walked here within 10-15 mins. We were greeted by a lovely gentleman who quickly took our order. The food was great (although not keen on the mint sauce, and there was no coconut). The bill for the 4 of us including the chutney tray, 8 poppadoms, 6 drinks, 4 curry's, 3 rice, chips and a keema naan came to £57 which compared to Swansea is similarly priced. The waiter gave us a bottle of coke, bottle of lager and some chocolate to come away with. He was very pleasant and if we are ever in The Elephant and Castle area again, we would definitely call back!!!

Five of us popped in for an office work do. We were served poppadoms and chutneys along with our drinks quickly on arrival. We all thoroughly enjoyed the meal.However, the Lamb chops were truly some of the best I have ever had in any restaurant, not only was the taste sublime and the Lamb tender, the price was reasonable and the portion was huge! Great service from friendly staff and a nice manager. Definitely will revisit.

Me había olvidado mis gafas en casa, por lo que luché para leer el menú, pero no nos importó, ya que todo parecía ser la lista estándar. El servicio era amable y atento sin ser entrometido, así que todos a la buena. Despite the restraunt being a distance from my university, the journey was worth it. I went for a meal with friends and the dishes were just amazing. Everything is fresh and sizzling hot, the dishes are a perfect size and the service is excellent. It's a peaceful atmosphere were my friends and I could chat and enjoy the wholesome food. I ordered the prawn puri, it was literally the best dish I have ever had. As well as the keema naan, the food is very flavoursome and you can tell that everything is fresh and handmade. Definitely will come more often, the food is something I crave for now on Friday nights, there is a huge variety of Indian dishes sold, to be honest, I found it really hard to choose a dish as they all taste and look fantastic. The best Indian restaurant I have ever been to.

I came here with my colleagues for a work meal. It was mid afternoon on a week day and we were virtually the only people in the restaurant. Despite this we had a great time. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, friendly and accommodating. The menu is extensive with not only the expected favourites but also more unusual and exciting dishes. I was surprised at the low prices, particularly for London. Great value for money. The food was delightful. Plenty of it, delicately spiced and very tasty. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and the music wasn't intrusive, like that of so many other restaurants. I will certainly be coming back here again and can't believe I've lived locally for years and never eaten here before!

This takeaway delivered order through uber eats was the rare exception to the takeaway terror. The food was fresh the portions that my colleague and I had were plentiful. The rice itself was enough for four people and the chicken was simply wonderful. The fact that the restaurant also gave us gift of chocolate being close to Easter was a nice surprise. It was clear that all custom is valued and this extended to the food which was clearly made with love and I would definitely order again 10/10.

Moved to London almost a year ago and to date this is the best Indian place I've found! I find that the quality and price are both way better than what you'll find on Brick Lane. What sets it apart is the excellent value for money -- for very reasonable prices you get loads of food -- and the quality of the food. Everything is freshly made (so sometimes you have to wait, but it's worth it) and the food is always excellently prepared. In particular, the chicken is always juicy and tender. If you're in the area, definitely check this place out.The decor is a little dated, but don't let that deter you from the food. The service staff are very friendly and always happy to help.

Don't be fooled by the exterior. If you're looking for delicious food at very reasonable prices, then this is the best place to go. Tbh I think the food tastes better here than Dishoom. Was passing this restaurant by chance and went in. The chicken rogon and sagg aloo was one of the best I have ever had . My wife ordered the chicken madrass which was spot on in terms of flavour and heat. Service was nice and friendly. Pity about the area.

I so enjoyed everything about this restaurant which reminded me of Indian food from the 70s when I first tasted in a restaurant. My mother always had a jar of mix for my Dad who had fallen for curry in what was then Bombay in the 2nd World War and Vesta was a player. There was nothing rushed about the delightful food and the waiters especially the 'front of house' was a true gentleman. The vegetable starters were so fragrant and texture of curry superb.

On first appearance you feel this Indian is outdated. It has the look of not having been updated since the 70s... it even has prawn cocktail on the menu!! However they surprised us and we ordered our Indian meal choices and they were great. The food was authentic , i am Indian and the service was attentive with reasonable pricing ! Despite the outdated decor, never judge a book by its cover. The food was absolutely phenomenal and was moreish. I ordered chicken tikka and lamb pasanda , two dishes which were worth the price. The chicken and lamb was beautifully cooked and was tender as the day it was butchered. I would have never thought food could be served so well at a restaurant. Customer service is superb, the waiters are polite and quick. I believe the restaurant truely embraced the late 80s style and brought back childhood memories. Everything is authentic in every perspective. The place is also very clean which made me comfortable to eat in . Overall the restaurant is a great place to eat indian food, it was so good that I will definitely be back for more. Might need to hit the gym as the food was so good.

The waiter there was extremely rude - I think he was the supervisor there. We had to wait for 30 mins before we got the starters. The starters was served in a small plate, with no room for anything at all, and some lettuce had fallen from the plate on the table. Before bringing in the main dish 30 mins later, he offended us for the fallen vegetables - he was absolutely rude! Though we apologised, he wasn't ready to hear, and just walked off. Never going there again!

Fancied an Indian meal before going to Corsica studios so popped in for a quick meal. Wasn't really expecting much but was surprised by the food and service. Had the chicken pasanda which was one of the best I have had. My partner ordered the chicken madrass and the accompanying rice and naan bread which were all equally as good. The only down side I would say is the place is stuck in the time warp from the 1980s in terms of decor otherwise a lovely restaurant serving excellent food.

Visited with friends not expecting much by the looks of the restaurant but am I glad we did. The food was absolutely delicious. I had chicken tikka, speciality duck dish, Bombay aloo and pilau rice. Everything tasted spot on. Service was good and prices are competitive. Went back next day for a take away and the food tasted even better! It is very difficult to find a restaurant that ticks all boxes but this one surely did. Like they say "looks are deceiving"...lol

Been eating here for a few months, can't beat the chicken and spinach saag chicken dish, the best I have had anywhere. Staff friendly and decor dated but clean. For the price you can't go wrong. The music does seem to be on a loop. Very old school indian restaurant where the food comes first .

The duck dish I had was the house special 'Castle Duck' which was unexceptional of taste but very special of price. £10! And watch out for their bottles of beer. I was meeting a friend I hadn't seen for a year so we yakked and had a few bottles of Kingfisher/Cobra. The beer tab far exceeded even the specially priced food. £6 a bottle! Ouch. Lamb tikka starter was nice and the rice was well made.

I walked to this restaurant after reading Trip Advisor reviews- which are totally false. It's the worst East Indian Food I ever had. Correction you can't even call it East Indian food.Restaurant needs a major overhaul and cleaning. When we got to the restaurant at dinner time the place was empty. I recommend you don't eat here.

Was there for a dinner. I found the place quite comfortable, green furniture that helped me to relax after a wole day walking in the city. Service is fast (within 10 minutes you have your dish), I ordered a goat meat and rice. Well, very good for its standards. Pinapple juice was very tasty. PRice are really competitive.

Stopped here one night after traveling back from Liverpool. My wife ran a half there. We were hungry, It was getting late ,and the grocery was closed. My wife and I love curry but are hesitant when it's not recommended to us. We ordered for our two 10 year olds from the burger place a couple doors down. Then moseyed in down the the castle. Asked for takeaway and they were happy to take our order. We order the meat triangles. Some chicken curry. Mixed kabobs. Prawn rice and egg rice. All came with a vegetable curry that was delicious. It was all delicious. I wished I had asked for spicier but I never know the first time. We may go back again before we head back to the states. Then it will be hotter!!

We wandered in here in March after having a couple of beers at the Coronet downstairs. I wasn't expecting too much as it looks pretty drab outside and and wasn't very busy, but I was very pleasantly surprised. Food was super tasty - butter chicken, naan, chicken tikka and rice and a couple of drinks - and the price was great too. I think it came to less than £50. The decor is a bit dated, but would go back!

We were after an Indian and on looking on trip advisor we found our nearest was the Castle Tandoori. After reading the reviews we did not expect much. The decor was very indian, clean and nice. The food was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed the starter and main. I would highly recommend the broccoli and panneer starter. Meal was very reasonable. staff were very friendly. Would highly recommend a visit.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this typically 80s look Indian but the food was as to be found in most Indian restaurants around London and the service pleasant.Great value for money although to be expected with the area - it's a local restaurant as opposed to one in central London.

Castle Tandoori is a tired looking restaurant but don't let that put you off. We ordered not quite sure what to expect but i have to say it was one of the best Indian meals my partner and I have eaten. We had Chicken Tandoori & egg rice and King Prawn Dhansak & mushroom rice which were both excellent. Prices were very reasonable, especially for a restaurant in London. Having eaten poor food at far better looking restaurants, this is definitely one of those 'don't judge a book by it's cover' moments. Highly recommended.

My partner an i went here about 45mins before they closed we didnt have to wait long for our food my partner had the Tandoori Trout & i had a Meat Kurma (Both absolutely delicious and freshly cooked!!) the sides were amazing and the staff were very friendly even as the time ticked closer to closing time we never felt pressure to hurry up and eat quickly!! i would definately recommend this restaurant.. Me and my boyfriend went to elephant &castle shopping centre but before long we found ourselves starved. Looking around for someplace that appealed to our appetite we were lured in by the all day £5.95 Indian buffet sign. Once inside it turned out that the price for a non vegetarian buffet was in fact £10 (or so). We went for it anyway and I'm sooo glad we found this place! Everything was delicious. The selection was wide enough. We ate Amazing food, had a few drinks but still paid a very reasonable bill. The waiter was also friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back!

An der Grenze zwischen Zone 1 und Zone 2 des ÖPNV gelegen, bietet dieses Restaurant ein sehr gutes Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis. Das teure Innenstadtniveau schlägt hier nicht mehr zu Buche. Wir haben zu dritt für £50 gespeist (2x Drei-Gänge-Menü mit jeweils 10 Komponenten und ein vegetarisches Gericht sowie Getränke) und haben nicht alles geschafft. Das Umfeld ist etwas unwirtlich: Ein in die Jahre gekommenes Shopping-Center in typischer Working Class-Hochaussiedlung. Das merkt man auch der schon etwas angegriffenen, aber noch immer stilvollen Inneneinrichtung an. Aber es kommt auf die Bedienung (sehr aufmerksam, zuvorkommend und freundlich) und die Essensqualität an. Das gibt für und locker 4 Sterne her!

Die Bedingung war sehr freundlich und schnell. Die Auswahl umfangreich und die Preise günstig. Unser Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt, war gut angerichtet und reichlich. Die gesamte Atmosphäre war gut und so war es ein guter Abend. Das Restaurant ist auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert.

This lovely classic Indian restuarant has been serving up traditional Indian food for many many years now the staff have held down this restaurant in elephant and castle for as long as I can remember and the food is soooo nice It tastes like the food you would expect to have in these nice uptown areas like Covent Garden, Holborn and Liverpool st, ok the restuarant itself is a little dated but please know that this is not the case when it comes to the food. They also have a all you can eat buffet for those that are starved for a respectable 10.99 it has a nice range of food to choose from cant go wrong. The actual restaurant has a chilled relaxing feel about it you defiantly need to give it a go. It's my local and I've never been disappointed, all staff are lovely, keep your eye out for the youngest waiter he is so friendly, polite, welcoming and just adorable really.

If you like modern surroundings, with nice clean minimal lines and sycophantic waiters who are very efficient but rather dull. If you like your curry to be authentic Indian cuisine, as you would find in an Indian home or in India, then Elephant Tandoori is not for you. However, if you want to go to restaurant that hasn't been renovated since it was built in the 60's, and retains almost all of the original fixtures, then get here quick before developers destroy this wonderful space. That's not to say it's grotty, it's just old. It's still clean. Think flock wallpaper, pink table clothes and bespoke carpets. That's right carpets with elephants on it! Especially designed for them!The food is also top notch. It's good. Very good. Don't get me wrong, it's not authentic Indian cooking, but it is authentic British Curry house cooking and it's oh so good for it. Some reviews slate the all you can eat buffet. But what do you expect for about a fiver? Michelin chefs cooking with organic chicken and chick peas?! I have only been in the evening, usually after bowling in the shopping centre, and ordered from the menu. The last time I went was with two very good Sri Lankan friends who have spent their lives eating curry. (We thought we'd take them there for a joke as they are used to lovely posh restaurants) They loved it and thought it was one of the best curries they had eaten in the UK and have demanded that we go back next time they are over.Go. Enjoy. Tell your friends. This place deserves more customers.

I fancied a small Indian lunch as a post Christmas pick me up. I wasn't expecting miracles and I didn't get them. What I did get was a very fair and reasonable lunch. In such situations I normally go for vegetarian options as meat can often disappoint. The food was tasty, well cooked, and at only £5.95 hard to moan about. I'd definitely go back again. Freshly made naan and good Dahl is enough of a reason for me! Service was missing somewhat but not an issue.

Very dissapointing, the waitor was very rude so my experience was not good at all, dont think i will be going there again.The food is ok, i have had better else where.
