Castle Inn in Sheffield

Quiet. Had Timothy Taylor and hobgoblin golden on hand pull. Did not have food here and don't think they serve it.

Bar staff say they don't do food any more.

Following a funeral at the nearby church, we arranged a short-notice 'wake' at The Castle Inn. Kim, the landlady, organised everything admirably. The drinks & the food were spot-on. The staff were nice & friendly, and Kim herself was very accommodating, especially when we started moving the tables around :)

Had a fabulous evening with our dear friends Kim, Kaz, and wonderful staff. Locals made us feel so welcome. Great atmosphere. I highly recommend a Friday night karaoke. 🎤 👌

That DJ they had on the 23rd February was amazing! He rocked the place!

Superb country pub. Warm welcome. Enjoyed this place time and again. Staff can’t do enough. Good atmosphere. Everyone is made welcome. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Terrible food all frozen and very little of it,too expensive for what you get. Beer terrible. They run out way too often.noise and language from some of the customers is terrible for a country pub.no atmosphere/music playing.

We had visited the castle inn, in august on our walk and it was a lovely atmosphere and we also had sunday lunch and it was ok nothing out of the ordinary for a small pub, but we visited again for Sunday lunch last week, wow what can i say what an improvement the minted lamb was beautiful, the yorkshire puddings were humongous and the roast potatoes were to die for, all homemade and comforting. The bar staff were so helpful and the range of drinks were great. The landlady Kim was fab with our little ones and made her way round talking to the locals which is nice to see, it’s such a hidden gem and we will be making this our regularly Sunday lunch spot! Thanks guys your doing an amazing job.

Walked in on the off chance of Sunday Dinner following a walk with our dogs. We are not local so didn’t know the pub. Staff didn’t really know what they were doing and the Sunday dinner was awful. Smash for mash potato and I think it was tinned beef! Everything was cold. Wouldn’t recommend.

No larger , numerous drinks unavailable. Staff didn’t really have an idea of what they were doing. Sunday roast was one of the worst meals I’ve ever paid for, beaf was jelly orientated out of a tin , cold and tasteless, smash potatoes was as good as smash ever was. Got told 10 min wait for roast and meal arrived without Cauliflower microwaved frozen same as Yorkshire, the half of meal that I ate was completely awful

Worst Sunday dinner we’ve ever eaten!! Gravy full of lumps, beef like leather, mash with lumps but runny at same time. No wonder place was empty, avoid like the plague 🙈

I have not eaten here, but it is one-of my local pubs.

Beer back up to previous high standard, best wishes to new management, hope you can restore the pub to former glories

Friendly service great pint. New owners have took over since I last visited this public house but a pint is a pint init!

Use to be a fab pub but now feels run downand the beer didn't taste quite right. Could do with a good overhaul

Dropped in on the off chance of food. Completely empty dining room, staff seemed a bit hapless in knowing anything. Asked for some soft drinks and bar person opened some well used bottles (rather than from the tap). Bitter wasn’t ready to pour. Everything gave the impression that they didn’t know what they were doing! Didn’t dare try to order food.

Can't comment on anything about the place, except to say it would be helpful if the owners updated their opening hours. Google says they're open every day - they weren't on Monday lunchtime. Please update to avoid disappointing potential customers!

If you’re looking for a friendly pub with good food then this isn’t the pub for you. We visited on a Sunday for lunch and were initially told they didn’t have our booking. When they got us a table we were given a menu. Menus and place mats were stained with food. We ordered our meals and were told they weren’t doing the meals we ordered and were only doing roasts which was fine but we had been given a completely different menu. There was a lot of confusion with the meal order and the staff were shouting across the bar asking what everyone had ordered. When the food came it looked awful and tasted terrible. Veg was cold and it was clearly from a tin with instant mash. Turkey was like a strip of rubber. When the waitress asked how meal was we told them exactly how bad it was, nothing was said and they couldn’t be any less interested. Definitely would not go back or recommend. Very disappointed when the pub itself is in a nice location.

Recently opened New landlords It was nice and clean beer was good also there own castle beer on tap,the toilets were the best clean ones we had seen,they are started doing food and entertainment at night and some in day,worth a visit drop in If out for a walk.

Great Yorkshire pudding and beef casserole and roast potatoes. Apple crumble for pudding . All delicious . A reasonable priced bottle of red wine to go with it . Under £30 for the two of us . Brilliant

White decor makes it feldspar clinical, decor needs to be more relaxed

Typical small town pub, very friendly and welcoming. We booked a table for dinner and all had lovely meals, with a great choice of drinks. The locals were having fun, whilst waiting for the live entertainment. All in all, a great pub, with great food and fantastic value. We will be going back this week whilst on holiday, but I would recommend anyone to visit here if you are in the area.

First time I've been to a pub for, blumming eck, I can't remember, probably because I'm tea total now, but I really enjoyed it and the Castle is a lovely place to visit for food and drinks, highly recommended this place and its set in a lovely little location.

My go to pub. Love a pint of Hobble-Gobble Gold! Lovely staff, especially with getting the place reopened after Covid. Happy to sit in the rain outside if necessary. Hope the current set up lasts a long time.

The staff was so helpful. The food was hot and loads of it. The pub decor is what you would expect for a local country pub . It was very clean and tidy. I would go again.

Don't know if they are struggling after lockdown, but not a good experience. Young lady taking orders was confused, 15 minutes to bring drink. Ordered food, paid for it, then after 50 minutes told it had not gone to the kitchen, (obviously didnt check when they said it was coing soon!) so would have to wait another 20 minutes. Lovely place, but put me off going back.

Took 1hr and 20 mins from ordering food to it arriving, they seemed overwhelmed over been open and the pub wasn't even busy

Not fair to rate at the moment on what this pub might be in a few weeks. But ordering drinks was easy, by text or phone. Service fine. Tables well spaced. Didn't pre-book

A good little village pub. Felt quite welcome and a nice atmosphere. It was a while ago that I went here, but if I remember correctly, there was a pretty decent amount of seating available and the prices were quite nice.

Lovely atmosphere Friday night. Had a meal, ok, ordered steak didn't come as asked, blue to rare, came medium.!! Ordered 2 steaks, came after awhile to say they only had 1 steak, so shared it and had gammon with it. On the whole nice tasting food, lovely evening. Will go again.

The Castle is tucked away and not overly obvious from the main road, the car park is interesting but there was plenty of space. The welcome was warm as soon as we came through the door and having booked we were shown straight to our table, Both food and drink were by table service which was good without being intrusive, if anything the staff left us alone a little too much. I went for the hanging kebabs which were well presented to the point where I had to work out how to disassemble them to eat them. They were well prepared and delicious, the accompaniment was a lovely flat bread and salad with stuffed olives - they could have given me four times more and I would still have wanted more. One thing that is often a disappointment is dessert, I had the sticky toffee pudding and one of the reasons for 5 our of 5 is this. That is the best STP i have had in a very long time, presented well and absolutely spot on.

Received a warm welcome and thoroughly enjoyed a few drinks singing local carols with my family after a Bolsterstone Boxing Day walk.

A really nice village pub. We had a lovely Sunday roast lunch today. Very friendly bar staff and a great atmosphere.

Visité el Castle Inn alrededor de la 1. 00 pm miércoles 16/10/19. Al entrar nos encontramos con que el pub se veía agradable y limpio por dentro, amigable camarera nos saludó y nos sirvió con 2 pintas de cerveza Carling. Nos sentamos a ver el menú y notamos que hacía bastante frío en el pub, en un par de minutos otro comensal le preguntó a la camarera si podían encender la calefacción ya que tenían frío. La camarera obedeció, así que esto se resolvió.Luego pedimos 2 Thai Green Curries del menú a un costo de 8. 49 cada uno.Luego notamos que nuestras bebidas Carling tenían un sabor extraño, informamos a la camarera y ella dijo que las reemplazaría, desapareció durante unos 5 minutos y luego nos trajo 2 pintas más de Carling, probé la primera pinta de reemplazo y dije que Todavía tenía un sabor extraño, le pedí a la camarera que probara la segunda pinta que ella hizo, ella estuvo de acuerdo en que el Carling no sabía bien. Luego nos ofreció 2 pintas de Stella Lager como reemplazos, aceptamos esto y Stella estaba bien. Tenía mis sospechas sobre el sabor del Carling, pero no comento más sobre esto.Ahora, la gran decepción que llegaron los curry, servidos en un plato de acero con 2 piezas de pan duro y delgado.La primera impresión de los curries fueron las porciones muy pequeñas, el plato tenía arroz por todo el borde con probablemente una gran cuchara llena de curry en el centro. Descubrimos que el curry era bastante insípido, mi curry tenía solo 4 trozos pequeños de pollo, 3 trozos de calabacín, cebolla y una salsa de curry muy líquida, mi esposa era la misma pero tenía 2 trozos más pequeños de pollo. en la de ellaComimos el curry, la camarera no estaba cerca para decirle nada sobre la comida y nunca vino a preguntar si todo estaba bien con la comida, no tardó mucho en comer el curry ya que había muy poco. Cuando nos fuimos, no había nadie para contarnos nuestra decepción con la comida.Nuestro error fue comenzar a comer, deberíamos haber revisado el curry con un tenedor para ver qué contenía y luego enviarlo de vuelta a la cocina de inmediato, lo que hace que sea más difícil quejarse una vez que haya comido la evidencia.Mis pensamientos desde que comí es que creo que solo había una porción de Curry y esto se había dividido para hacer 2 comidas, o podría haber sido una recompensa por las 4 pintas de Carling que se hundieron en el fregadero.Solo había otras 6 personas en el pub mientras estábamos allí, pudimos ver qué comidas se servían y se veían bien, tal vez tuvimos mala suerte el día con nuestras comidas.Ciertamente no volveré al Castle Inn

Absolutely first class roast beef Sunday lunch, all home-made, huge portion of delicious roast beef, fresh vegetables which were not over cooked, crunchy roast potatoes, lovely Yorkshire’s and lashings of gravy! What’s not to like? Great beer, great service!! The Castle is a real find! Will definitely go back.

Llamado esta noche no estaba seguro de qué esperar. Nuestro grupo de dos adultos y dos niños se hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos. La comida era de muy buena calidad y un precio razonable (nuestra factura era de menos de 30 libras) si buscas valor para dinero, recomendaría una visita

Nice pub to finish off a walk in Bolsterstone, dog friendly and good food menu

Llegó un domingo, el pub no estaba tan lleno, pero como no habíamos reservado no se podía pedir comida asada. Tenían rollos con pavo ya que no había suficiente carne de sobra, vinieron con papas asadas y salsa. Dos de nosotros comimos sopa de verduras, muy picante y claramente hecha de un paquete, demasiado gruesa que no impresionó y no volverá.

The team at The Castle went out of their way to provide a fabulous buffet following our mums funeral. Everyone was helpful and friendly we couldnt have asked for anything better.

Super oldy worldly country pub up in the hills North of Sheffield in some beautiful countryside. Didn't eat but a good selection to choose from for all tastes. Old drawback is the parking as this is a small village with narrow roads.

Just been in for Tuesday pie night. Choice of six pies, £6. Very nice. Real ales. 👌👌
