Castle Cuisine in Newark and Sherwood

Four of us went for a indian here, was told it was amazing!!! Far from it onion bhaji burnt. Took 1 hour to get starters. Cancelled our food, but they still charged us the full payment. Do not recommend.

This is a superb restaurant. From the moment you walk in the staff are welcoming and helpful.Great menu choices at a good price. The food is excellent. No booze licence but you can take your own. It's a hidden gem,there is a sign outside but you have to know it's there. My new go to eatery.

Fantastic Food. I used the takeaway service twice whilst working in Newark. Some of the best Indian Food I have had the pleasure to tuck into. Very friendly and top notch service. Everything was great but the Chicken Achari and Chicken Balti are to die for. Well done team. I just wish you had a restaurant near my home in Coolum Beach, Queensland, Australia 😃

Not been to Castle Cuisine for a good while. But Indian curry's and starters etc just as good as we remember, if not tastier. Service was good, polite and helpful and all brought to our table in timely manner. Thank you for a great evening. Paul.

Visited the 'Castle' for a casual early evening meal, having eaten here previously & enjoyed it. We were not disappointed. The staff were very personable, attentive & efficient. The meal was served promptly & thoroughly enjoyed. We were also provided with containers, to takeaway what we didn't manage to eat👍😀 Thank you for a very pleasant evening 😁

Had a takeaway after reading the menu stating award winning chef of the year! My wife’s was ok, but my Tandoori mixed grill was not spicy and not tasty, all tasted the same very disappointed, so it’s back to Desi Kitchen in Fernwood for me?!

Wow had a chicken tikka masala which is admittedly not the most adventurous however I didn’t expect a bland bright red thing with poorly cooked chicken. I have had good specials but does that mean that the standard food is an afterthought? Delivery was quick and efficient tho

Love this place. Fantastic byo restaurant with awesome food and brilliant service. Always our go to place for a get together with friends. The service is amazing and nothing is too much trouble, and the food is always delicious. If you haven't been yet definitely put it on your list!

We went Saturday night 7.45pm. Fast friendly service despite large parties of people dining. We had onion Bhaji starter,chuntney tray, popadom x4, two combination curry’s rice chips 4x cokes all for £65. Reasonably priced large portions we had to ask to take some home. We travelled from Lincoln and would travel again absolutely lovely.

Had a very good Indian meal here. Very tasty and good service. They only serve non alcoholic drinks but you are welcome to bring alcohol onto the premises to accompany your meal. Enjoyed evening there,would definitely return here.

The worst Indian takeaway we have ever had … We ordered a takeaway from Castle Cuisine and, based on reviews, were looking forward to a good curry feast. Instead it ruined our night. The only redeeming features were the samosas and rice, the rest of the meal was thrown away as inedible. My partner’s lamb tikka madras was bright red, a colour I have never encountered for such a dish, the lamb was bland, no evidence it had ever seen a tandoori oven, the sauce was bland and the colour was shocking. I had tandoori king prawns. I can only guess at how long these prawns had been cooked, or, worse, had been cooked and reheated. They were so soft as to be disintegrating, a pile of half fried onions bulked out the dish. Not remotely worth the £13.95 charged. As for the sag paneer, it was verging on trades description. The spinach was dry, tough and barely spiced, the “paneer” was some sort of melted cheese that congealed into clumps. Paneer is an easy to get Indian cheese that when fried does not melt, instead it should be cubes of cheese that take on the flavour of the sauce. The breads were stodgy and even the garlic mushroom puri was massacred. When we complained, the attitude was that we were somehow odd to have not enjoyed our meal as customers were all satisfied and it had been the same for 10 years. No recompense was offered, instead a paltry 20% discount when we next ordered. This was simply not good enough. We would never eat at this restaurant again and would not recommend. Appalling.

We always get a super meal and the staff & manager are always very welcoming.

I walked in early evening on my own, looking for a good Indian meal. The fact i was an individual didn't go down well. I sat for a few minutes, and the staff made me feel more uncomfortable. I didn't have a chance to sample their food as they were so unwelcoming. This was my experience. Don't let me put you off.

Would give 5 stars but held back on 1 star due to my last experience. I have ordered from this place multiple times. Generally speaking the food is good, delivery service is within the timeframes mentioned on the website, delivery staff are friendly, online ordering process is straightforward - you don’t get any order confirmation receipt (except the payment confirmation) which includes order summary, etc. Last experience: ordered delivery for two ppl which costed ~£43.00. Cost is reasonable and we didn’t find it expensive. Was missing 2x items in the order. Called the restaurant which was extremely noisy so quite challenging to hear the restaurant staff. They told that the missing items will be delivered but cannot provide a timeframe. After asking politely twice, I had to be quite strict about needing to know how long should I expect to wait to which the staff said you can come and collect it if you like. This is where I was like ‘if I could pick up why would I get it delivered in the first place and wait for over an hour, and now you want me to wait again for x-amount of time for the items which were missing at no faulty of mine’. This is where he checked with someone else and replied we’ll get the missing items to you in 15-20mins. Had he been a little bit empathetic and practical, it would have saved us both time and effort.

Wonderful friendly staff and a great atmosphere but the food is rather bland.

Saag paneer was very unusual, didn't seem like paneer at all, more like cheddar. The mains and sides were pricey, (i.e £10 + for a main dish and £3.90 for a naan). Good thing was that you could bring your own wine/beer.

I’m sorry to leave a bad review but that’s what these reviews are for . Ordered a takeaway for the first time. The food was very very bland the Mrs said the salad was the best think about the meal . Sorry but not impressed.

My favourite Indian to order from! It’s takeaway or you can go and sit in and have a meal. The staff are so polite and make sure you are comfortable and they are always smiling. I have been going there for about 5 years and I have no complaints at all. The food is delicious, the prices are great and the portion sizes are very good. You have to try it!

Excellent food and service! For a 50th birthday surprise family gathering, we arrived as a group of 30 people. The food was outstanding, and the waiters had been very accommodating in taking orders because it wasn't easy keeping people seated in one place while mingling with other guests. The manageress had been extremely helpful in organising this with me, helping with seating arrangements and the lighting of the cake. But thanks to Castle Cuisine, I will most certainly return.

Just had a lovely chicken jalfrezi which I asked to be vindaloo hot. This was done for me with no fuss and went down a treat. The Castle cuisine gets top marks from me!

Consistently great food. Only used the takeaway service so far which has always been delivered hot and on time. The dishes are full of flavour and not too oily. Highly recommended.

Excellent food and service. Will definitely return. We had the set meal for two, and they were happy to change the chicken tikka for a chicken madras. Would definitely recommend and remember to take your own wine. Good prices too.

Ok the food was ok but the service was the absolute worst. We ordered on their website they took our money confirmed we placed an order, but when we replied with what time nothing no response at all so we thought ok maybe they will phone us as they asked for lots of details. But say no so we drove down to see what was going on. No apologies nothing just said all their regulars know what time to pick up at! Then gave me a small diet coke and when I said you might need to check the website and respond with a time or something to all customers and he said "yeah yeah yeah" not impressed at all

I have ordered food from castle cuisine for a number of years. I have now had a number of orders that were missing or wrong. Which I can understand as people make mistakes. However am very disappointed with there response to my last wrong order!! Refused a refund and we're very rude !!

Terrible service! Waited a whole hour and still no food! Waiter made us feel it was an inconvenience to even take our order. If you can’t handle a busy restaurant don’t take so many bookings! The upstairs dining area was like being in gods waiting room! No music, silent stilted atmosphere !!! The food I did see come out looked mediocre at best... Never before have I actually left a restaurant without even eating! Terrible experience ... avoid at all costs!!

This has become one of my favourite Indian restaurants. The food is excellent along with a great menu, they don't serve alcoholic drinks and you can.bring your own. The atmosphere and the staff are great. Very busy at peak times.

Great food and service. The restaurant has a modern but authentic feel about it. The staff are also friendly and join in every now and again in having the odd laugh with the customers.

Really good food and the staff are very friendly. Added bonus is because they don't have an alcohol licence you get to bring your own alcoholic drinks. Look forward to visiting again soon.
