I was looking online for Portmeirion Village tickets and noticed that they were included if you took lunch in the Castell's Brasserie - what a fab idea. I hadn't told my wife and daughter, and made up an excuse about us having to stop at the Castell to collect our village entry tickets. It was a gorgeous sunny day and the views from the Brasserie were amazing. The waiting staff were courteous and professional and the menu included a couple of fab veggie options. Our starters did seem to take a while to arrive, but there were a lot of people on our sitting, and when they arrived they were just gorgeous. You could see the skill and pride that had gone into making and presenting the food, it was phenomenal. Highly recommended.

A beautiful lunch in the sunshine of a castle conservatory was a marvellous introduction to the unique village of Portmerion. With village admission tickets included with the lunch cost, it proved to be good value for money. We were very happy with the quality and quantity of each course. Service was attentive and professional. All in all the perfect afternoon out and highly recommended.

Great setting , & free entry to Portmeirion with the purchase of 2 courses, what’s there not to like? Food was delicious albeit I had to send my steak back as it was tough but was quickly offered an alternative and a complimentary glass of wine . Service was exceptional and I didn’t mind paying the 10% service charge added on. Would highly recommend, it’s a no brainer that you pay £30 for 2 course lunch which is effectively £10 as its £20 to get into the village . Thank you for a lovely day out

The food was lovely and well presented and tasted delicious. The burrata was refreshing and creamy, the salmon was a tasty generous portion. The mains were all delicious; the mussels were creamy and light, the chicken was well seasoned and extremely tender, the steaks were cooked perfectly. Service was a little slow but staff were attentive the white chocolate creme brulee was good to share between two people and the sticky toffee pudding was just right. It was a lovely meal and very filling.

What a beautiful setting for a delicious lunch. Staff were attentive and food was first class. We opted for 2 courses and the quality and quantity were excellent. Total bill with drinks including a 10% service charge (not optional) came to just over £100.00. This included entrance to the village for 2 adults. I do think £5 for a small cup of coffee is a bit overpriced. Maybe if the price was reduced more people would order as I noticed no one around me had coffee after their meals?

Beautiful venue serving top-quality dishes with fabulous staff, especially Bishal who looked after us brilliantly and ensured our various courses came out at the perfect time. There is a deal where you get 2 courses for £30 including entrance to Portmerion, but some of our party wanted starters and mains while others preferred mains and dessert, and the children had 3 courses, so there was a lot to manage behind the scenes and Bishal and the team managed with efficiency and class. The food was beautifully presented and had a wonderful depth of flavour. 6 out of 5 stars!

Lunch at Castell Deudraeth Brasserie £30 two course includes free entry to Portmeirion which is just a walk away. Definitely worth it as entry is £20 each 😮 Excellent food and presentation with delicious flavours (compliments to the chef for the menu choices) and would have deserved 5/5 restaurant review but today main meals came out not too hot (you can see how the steak butter did not melt) so 4/5 but sides were hot and those 3 times cooked chips were very hot and rather very crispy (if you like that as I do like crunch 😁) We did mention it to the waitress who apologised and we did say we were ok to carry on eating but for future reference and she said she would inform the chef. Excellent service from uniformed staff and yayyyy for a cotton, proper napkin 👏. Hotel looked nice in a lovely location overlooking Portmeirion where walked our lunch off. Highly recommend you visit here to take in, understand and admire the architecture of this colourful Italian like village in the middle of Wales. Even in the rain and sometimes we all have to love the rain in the summertime ☔️💖

A fantastic building in a fantastic setting with fantastic food. A good range of options on the lunch menu, and I opted for the Guinea fowl terrine to start, moules frites for mains (of course, when in north-west wales) and crème brûlée for dessert. All were excellent, and the service very quick too for a table of six. My constructive criticism here - the service charge was added to the bill, which always makes diners feel uncomfortable to take it off. When you have food and service as excellent as this was, the customer will be compelled to tip - especially with the tourist trade in this area - and even tip more than was automatically added to the bill. However, the price of entry into Portmeirion village certainly softened the blow, and was a very nice touch.

Really good way to do Portmeirion, and I do recommend. Certain menu items were weak (chicken pie was pitifully tiny) but on the whole good. Great terrine starter and superb chocolate mousse dessert. Staff seem challenged by their own offer terms, IE 2 courses means either starter/main or main/pudding. Had to have two conversations with different staff until they eventually accepted it. Embarrassing for them.

The staff were very helpful, particularly of the fact my wife is a celiac, so she required help with the menu. They identified the gluten-free options that worked really well. The food and drinks were excellent and it made for a lovely evening. We also walked around their lovely garden afterwards on our way back to the "Village." Hadnt seen my London cousin and his partner in a long time. Decided to meet up at Castell Deudraeth. The place is an excellent venue. We had drinks in the foyer and chose our meals. My darling wife does not have a starter as she like to keep some room for the deserts! Therefore we three had the crispy chili and onion burrata x 2 and 1 king scallops. These were delicous morsells. Moving onto the mains we had, 2 x sirloin, 1 cod and one chicken pie. Everyone had clean plates. The deserts were white chocolate parfait and sticky toffee pud. I was too full, and my cousin's wife does not eat sweet food; she opted for the cheese. The cheese platter was huge. She ould not manage it all, so I helped out. Staff, as someone else mentioned, are attentive, but not "in your face" which I like. Nice that at least some of the staff were Cymraeg speakers. All in all a very favorable evening.

They also add 10% to your bill if i want to tip I'll do so of my own accord thank you. My steak came with two sprigs of asparagus and broccoli and that's it. We left still very hungry and no apology for the less than edible steak. Needles to say we will not be returning.

Booked Sunday lunch as a treat for my mum who has eaten here on several occasions with friends and has always said how wonderful the food and service was. Unfortunately the day was not ours as the whole experience was lacking. First of all we were sat in a very dark corner of the restaurant with no outlook or ambiance but credit to the waitress when she realised we weren’t happy moved us to the conservatory. Next, no non-alcoholic spirits at all! which restaurant does that in this day and age especially as you need to drive to this venue they are missing a trick here. We waited quite some time for our meal with the table next to us even apologising for being served before us. The food was very mediocre the meat, pork and beef, was ok but the roast potatoes were hard, obviously cooked well in advance, and the vegetables ok but lacking seasoning. Spring greens appeared to have been charred and were hard to eat and the tender stem broccoli was undercooked. Both jus/gravy tasted of nothing at all. Very disappointing the only saving grace was the cheese board which was excellent. I live on the Isle of Wight and eat Sunday lunch at some excellent restaurants, Michelin starred and pub carveries and both are above and beyond the offering we had here and cheaper too!!!

Was seated straight away nobody asked if we wanted a drink other than water so after waiting 15 mins went to the bar and paid for drinks took around 20 minutes for them to take our order for food other people had their order taken before us even though we were there before after waiting an hour our main course turned up no sign of our starters , so had to wait another ten minutes for that . No bread offered with starter had to ask then waited ages again for the main to arrive again. Obviously left it on the side as it was cold didn’t complain then as we were so hungry just wanted to eat and get out . Asked us if we would like a dessert said yes and guess what left again in the end we gave up over 2 hours there already our meal was a present from family as a treat with a pass to look around but had run out of time so didn’t get chance .so disappointed the staff were apologetic but the service was terrible got our 2 soft drinks free as compensation won’t be returning.

I enjoyed the three course lunch for £30 in the Brasserie at Castell Dendraeth before visiting Portmeirion. It was one of the finest lunch experiences I have had in a long time. The food choices were impressive. I opted for the salmon for starter, followed by the pork tenderloin main course and sticky toffee pudding. The presentation of the dishes was top rate, the portions sizes were good for the price and each dish tasted delicious. A glass of Rhone white wine was a good accompaniment to the meal. The welcome I received from the staff was first class, and I had a table with a view overlooking the bay. Food was served impressively quickly. The standard of service I received from all staff was second to none and I must mention. who advised on some choices and Natalia was a pleasure to converse with. All in all, a superb lunch. I returned for coffee later in the afternoon. The lunch includes a voucher to visit Portmeirion village; but if it did not, the meal would nonetheless still represent tremendous quality and value for the price. Before enjoying the delights of Portmeirion, I recommend you enjoy the delight that is lunch at Castell Dendraeth.

Had the Sunday lunch set menu - the starters were great but the Sunday roast was really disappointing. Everything was drastically underseasoned and the lamb was mostly fat. It was served with both mash and roast potatoes, so it was overly stodgy. Even the broccoli and cauliflower was served in a bland creamy sauce that added to the heaviness of the meal. It is advertised as 3 courses for £30, but it is actually 2 courses for £30 on Sunday. Wouldn't return for Sunday lunch.

Service was first-rate and the food was generally delicious. Everyone had to pre-order and pre-pay, so it was a really nice touch that the place cards not only had the names but also on the underside were the menu choices for each person. The Festive Menu food was well-presented and generally, the food was tasty and adequate. It was nice, for instance, that the carrots were not over-cooked and had plenty of flavour. One diner felt that the turkey was a bit lacking in flavour, but she is a Cordon Bleu. There also seemed to be an issue that the stuffing balls appeared to be something like pork stuffing, not the anticipated sage and onion, although the menu only said stuffing anyway. Those who had the gilt head bream felt that the portion size was a bit on the small side - unlike ordering bream in Greece, where you get the whole fish! As ever, the chefs handled special dietary requirements with perfect attention to detail, with exclusions and substitutions accordingly. I'd certainly be glad to repeat and to recommend the venue and the Festive Menu. We have often eaten here and never been disappointed, usually just as a couple or small groups, so it was interesting to see how efficient the catering was for the 40-50 party size.

We have eaten dinner here on a few occasions previously, but not in the last few years. We were very much looking forward to our indulgent treat of dinner at the Castle. However, this time it was quite a big dissapointment. Firstly, the atmosphere of the conservatory dining area totally lacked ambience, no back ground music, very brightly lit and not very festive. We felt like we had to talk quietly as we could hear other diners too clearly, and we heard probably a little too much 'banter' coming from the kitchen. I did comment to our waiter that it was very quiet and hinted that some form of music would be nice but nothing changed. Our menu choice was acceptable, but very costly to then add on side orders of vegetables. In all honesty the portion sizes were alot smaller than previous visits. One final issue.... we all have the ability to make our own choices and decisions - please let the customer know that service charge is already applied to their bill, and confirm they are happy with this beforehand.

This was our first visit for several years and it did not disappoint. We were greeted and served throughout by friendly, charming but professional staff. The food was excellent. My starter of burrata with Waldorf salad was very small but actually the perfect size for a 3 course meal. I do wish though that I had followed my dining companions and ordered the cauliflower soup - it looked wonderful, garnished beautifully, and the accompanying beignet was nothing short of heavenly. I stole a tiny piece and could happily have eaten a large plate full. My friends all chose roast beef for their mains - Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, tender beef cooked medium rare. I chose the gilt head bream, which was perfectly cooked with a crispy skin. It was accompanied by tenderstem broccoli and delicious cubes of beetroot gnocchi. Vegetable accompaniments were broccoli and cauliflower cheese, carrots and mashed potato. I chose the treacle tart with Penderyn whisky ice cream for dessert - the tart was as light as a feather and not over sweet, but the star was the whisky ice cream, like velvet with a big whisky hit. The meal for 4, with 1 pint of beer and 3 glasses of wine, plus service charge, was £186. This included free entry into Portmeirion village. We were catching up with friends and really appreciated the fact that, once seated, there was no pressure whatsoever to eat up and leave. That's one of the many things we love about this place - professional, attentive but also relaxed. I admit I was prepared to be disappointed - so many restaurants have declined since Covid - but it was a very special experience. We will be returning soon.

Shockingly disappointed with this evening’s meal. Six of us arrived very excited for an early dinner - were told they weren’t serving cocktails when we asked upon arrival, although they served cocktails to the table next to ours shortly after we sat down. Were also told that we had to order our mains within 5 minutes of being seated as we had 1.5 hour window to finish our meal, despite there being multiple empty tables around us for the entire evening. Had to ask for bottles of wine for the table multiple times from different servers. We spent ~£100 per person on this meal and felt like we weren’t welcomed and were an inconvenience from start to finish. I understand we were younger than their typical demographic but were there to spend plenty of money and have a lovely meal, shame that was only half the case. Will certainly not be coming back.

The restaurant is offering subsidised access to the village should you choose to have a meal. So with that in mind there is a discounted price for the food. The lunch was ok. Nothing outstanding, in fact a little mass produced to cater for the lunchtime rush. The service was attentive but not refunded. IMO I would suggest that the hotel could make considerable improvements in this aspect. Attention to detail is important. It is likely that the venue makes its funds from drinks served.. Which is fair enough. Drinks are taken on a voluntary basis. So all in all rather average TBH. If you are visiting the village do visit. But I wouldn't revisit

Duck starter was delicious highly recommended. Likewise the fish and chips was excellent and generous portion size. Staff were impeccable. 3 courses for £30 is great value for money.

For £30 the lunch menu is decent value, nice but not exceptional food. The location is good if you have a view over the grounds in the conservatory, we didn’t and the room was nothing special, we could have been in any run of the mill chain restaurant. However the service was not good. We were early so were given a seat in the lobby to have a pre dinner drink, but not told that we had to order at the bar. At no point during our meal we’re we asked about drink refills, so be prepared to go to the bar and get your own drinks and get up to find a waiter if you need attention. It was worth going as we got free entry to wander around the pretty village.

We were on our Honeymoon and wanted to visit Portmerion, so made use of the free voucher for eating lunch here - but this restaurant was the highlight of the visit! The staff were very professional, the food was incredible and the atmosphere/aesthetic was tranquil. We had an amazing meal and I could not more highly recommend eating here if you are planning on visiting Portmerion!

Arrived at 1pm for lunch, no booking but told it would be a 10-15 minute wait. Waited patiently for 40 minutes. Over that time other guests arrived - same party size / no booking. They get seated. So we ask and are told it would be another 10 minutes ‘hopefully’. Left and took our business elsewhere. Very disappointing and would not recommend.

Fantastic setting, amazing food and super staff. We stayed 2 nights in the hotel and ate in the restaurant on our second night. The menus has lots of choice and the food is superb. Freshly prepared good size portions and very high quality at reasonable prices. We will definitely return and I would recommend it to anyone. Great experience.

Definitely the best lunch we had while visiting Wales! The starters (duck and salmon) were exquisite, with the duck being absolutely perfect! The mains were equally as delicious, and the pork belly was cooked absolutely perfectly. The service was very good and the staff are very attentive and helpful. A special thank you to the kind elderly server who allowed me to swap my mains after ordering! I recommend a lunch or dinner as Castell Deudraeth, as it is truly a lovely experience.

Ate here whilst staying in the village. The food is excellent, gourmet, but it is very expensive for what you get! Tiny portions, (we are not big eaters at all) but found the lack of vegetables and small amounts of main course quite disappointing. Service good and location excellent. Be prepared to order side dishes if you want don’t want to leave hungry.

We haven’t been for a few years and after my experience last night I won’t be returning anytime soon. The food was below par in my opinion, I had cured salmon to start and a sirloin for main, the salmon was nice but one of the smallest starters I have ever seen. The steak main was very poor, the steak itself had uncooked fat and was only around 10mm thick, I asked for it rare but I don’t think whoever cooked it knows how to render fat out of a steak and still keep it rare! The waiters/waitresses where pushy to take our order and then it took ages for things to arrive, we got an extra starter that we didn’t order and they missed one of them. We also didn’t receive some sides that we ordered. Considering how pushy the waiters/waitresses where we didn’t see them for long periods of time so by the time we complained about the missing sides it was too late, TBF to them they took a bottle of wine off the bill in compensation but it still doesn’t take away from the fact that they pushy staff just didn’t listen. Overall the whole experience was underwhelming, there are so many other local restaurants doing such a better job.

if not compared to Portmeirion hotel restaurant: the Castell Deudraeth Brasserie earns 99% perfection! But that's how high the standard. If a table is available in the huge conservatory, surroundings are nigh on perfect too! We dined there on two evenings and enjoyed all this food, courteously served and beautifully cooked: Cauliflower white onion soup; Crispy duck egg; Lamb cutlets; Chicken ballotine (amongst the tenderest, tastiest chicken I've ever had); Tender string broccoli; Creamed garlic spinach; Honey and camomile pannacotta; Chocolate & salted caramel tart. Food this good isn't cheap: £148 for two meals for two, +10% service (can be removed), but we felt it was v good value; two dinners for two in the hotel restaurant would cost about £290. The hotel and Portmeirion village are a different matter - my review elsewhere.

Let's get the grumpy stuff out of the way. Whoever had been co-opted to front of house was miserable and accused me of asking for a white wine when I gave her the number of a red one. Then argued with me. When we looked at the menu, of five or six items, only one was still on- beef- which was what we all wanted anyway. It was the best Sunday lunch that I have had for about four years. The meat was succulent, not over-cooked, and the vegetables done to perfection. Tasty gravy and a great Yorkshire pudding. The woman who was keeping an eye on the callow waiting staff was lovely and friendly. A great place. Pannacotta for dessert and £23 for two courses. The place is fantastic. I understand it might be community-run, in which case they should allocate jobs to people who are temperamentally suited to carrying them out. If you want choice, maybe not for you, but a damn fine roast beef.

Amazing ice cream, I love ice cream and I might be bold enough to say this is the best ice cream ever! Fav was the lemon flavour but tried honeycomb, peanut and salted caramel and all were amazing! Portions were very generous! People who work/ run the shop and make the ice cream are lovely too!
