The service today was TOP TIER. I owe this incredible experience to our amazing server Brandon. He was efficient and friendly while still maintaining a professional and satisfactional experience.

The most mid place. They rely on the view and pack you in like sardines. The outside seating is very cheap and tacky. During the summer months the event view is custom but in the winter it’s just packed full of people. Don’t get me started on the valet system. Not worth the hike up the hill in my opinion. Food is also mid, not even worth a review. Cocktails were good I will say.

Wow. What a stunning restaurant with gorgeous views. We got a private room for an event, and the staff were so on point. The food was delicious, and bartenders were quick and efficient. We will definitely be coming back to try other dishes and enjoy the patio seating for a romantic date.

Horrible service, drinks took over 40 minutes, the server brought the wrong wine, and arguing about it, they dropped the appetizers, and came back in less than 5 minutes with the mains, dropped the dessert and bill while we're halfway through dinner. What's the point of having cool views and high prices if you can't provide basic service to your customers. None of us would go back or recommend this place. I asked someone the name of the server but she totally dismissed me, and never gave me the info. No manager in sight to talk to. The server was about 6ft and heavy set, telling us some BS about how he didn't sleep ... Who cares.

Went to a wedding that was on the outdoor patio area with the gazebo. It was at the perfect time "golden hour" the sky was setting and the color was beautiful. The reception was inside and the food was good. I had the beef and my wife enjoyed the fish. Service was prompt.

Great event for our Senior Class

The experience here was sadly disappointing. If you truly want a beautiful ambiance and nice service I’d honestly recommend five on the hill or yamashiro. As for castaway, the experience guarantees I’ll never be back. Although our drinks and starter came out quickly, we ended up waiting over an hour and a half for our main meal. We were apologized to and given a mini charcuterie board, however neither of us like this and we’re not asked. While we were still waiting people who were seated after us were given their meal and much more attention by the server which was upsetting. I’m confused about this because we were told the kitchen was having issues yet people got their meals during this “issue”. The final straw however was when asked if we were celebrating anything, my boyfriend privately told the server we had just made it official - so an anniversary persay- but the waiter came back thinking it was my birthday. I don’t understand either. The lackluster food did nothing for the terrible treatment or the long valet line. Why is one lady managing everything and struggling when there are literally 3 men there who are driving the cars who could literally do her job much faster and better..

Food, service, view, everything was amazing. The music can be better, we thought it was a bit loud and not conversation friendly.

I can't say enough about this treasure of a restaurant! The food was amazing, the service was awesome, and the views were breathtaking! I can't wait to return when I'm back in the area.

Overall is 4/5. Excellent ambience, food is acceptable. Our server is great! Reservation is a must since at dinner time there’s a lot of waiting even weekdays. 171$ for two people is somewhat reasonable and expensive. False advertisement regarding Golden hour 4-6pm is just in the bar and its in the table is regular price. That kinda tricky in my opinion. Going here with something to celebrate then its worth it.

We've had several events and dinners here. Service is always a hit or miss.

Everything was exceptional! The customer service was outstanding, the planning process was seamless, and the setup was beautiful. Thank you for making my son’s 3rd birthday a truly memorable experience.

WORST evening dining experience I’ve ever had in LA and for the price?!?! DO NOT GO HERE. Our waiter forgot about us, all our food was cold. Drinks came late, our waiter forgot water. Just don’t go.

This place is outstanding! The ambiance is wonderful, the staff was great, the food... Absolutely incredible! It was our first time here and it won't be our last! We ordered the Brussel Sprouts, Wedge Salad, Short Rib, Dry Aged Ribeye, and the Key Lime Pie! Everything was delicious. Everything was great portion sizes. Everything was just amazing! Highly recommend!

First of all, what a vibe this place is! Views for days. Would be amazing to come for sunset. Very cool setup inside and outside on the patio. Food and cocktails were both great. We were there for brunch. Gin Membership cocktail was just what I was looking for - I don’t like super sweet cocktails, and this was not - it was crisp and refreshing. Food-wise, both things I had were great. Highly recommend the cauliflower and short rib Benedict. The short rib Benedict may be on the pricier side but oh so worth it. Short ribs were super tender and the fact that it was served on a waffle was different and delicious.

The food and service was spot on. Lovely brunch location. Our waiter, Jonas A, was one of the best waiters we’ve ever had. Will definitely return!

My experience was superb. I was there as an assistant to an event planner and I didn’t expect the hospitality to be 10/10. The event staff that assisted us all through the set up, reception and clean up was amazing. I love that the staff went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed to make sure the brides day was a perfect day. Highly recommend this venue for any event.

Great time per usual at castaway. The food is always good, the ambiance is always amazing but JONAH was fantastic! Great energy, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. I’ve been here many times and he was by far the best and most memorable waiter I’ve had. Will definitely request to be seated in his section on future reservations.

The food was great and the hostess were very kind. Tbey provode my child food to feed the fishes. However, the service by the waitress was poor. She left work in the middle of serving us and did not notify anyone that she had a table she was service. We sit there for 10 minutes waiting to get drinks refill and have someone to check on us. I had to find another waiter to give us our check. Probably will not go back after this.

Regardless of any bumps along the way, the staff did their best to rectify errors. The food and drinks are delicious and the views are fantastic!

Its a nice spot with a good view. Service was a little slow but overall good. The food however is not what id expect for the prices. We all had various dishes and nothing wow'd us. Like others we reserved a specific table but were told it was unavailable.

An top notch experience, absolutely a treat! The views are amazing and the waitstaff is delightful. My meal was delicious and the cocktail was perfect. Even the valet experience was quick and easy. I'd expected a long wait for valet based in other people's comments but I must have just arrived at a good time. I would have preferred more nenu options but I found a good choice even with the limited menu. Definitely worth a return visit

The experience of holding our event was wonderful, the attention of all the service staff was excellent. Working with Bridgette from the beginning made me feel very comfortable and confident that everything would turn out well. Alberto's attention to all the guests on the day of the event was excellent, very professional and accessible. The food was exquisite, very tasty. I 100% recommend holding events at the Rusty Pelican.

Interestingly wifey and I love the view, but we just like the other things. Sunday Brunch. Missed the morning rush, but still sat for 10 minutes with no service. The waiter ended up being fine other than disappearing for like periods of time. The Drinks We both tried unique craft cocktails and thought they were okay but oddly not cold. The waiter said he gave the same feedback when they introduced them to the staff. The Food The only issue was room temperature food. To be clear, we ate it all lol. But this seems to be an ongoing issue every time we come. Crab/shrimp Cake Benny Short Rib Hash The View It was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon so you can't beat that. Not sure I would feel great if we sat inside. We won't NOT go back, but it won't be on our must go list

Really great atmosphere and overlooking views. They could do ALOT better with the food, considering how much it cost. We still had a really good time. Unlimited Momosas always make a day better.

I’m giving it a 5star although you may find it less than that due to the overall factor. The ambience is great, service was excellent even though the servers were fairly new, host was very accommodating, the food was great (sorry no picture) we were too hungry waiting for the food, none of us remembered to take a photo. The place was packed on a Saturday brunch time, be sure to make reservations. We ordered crab cakes Benedict, it was delicious. The crab was fresh tasting. Had the mimosas too. Maybe next time we will be ordering the chicken waffles. They looked amazing!

We go here for birthdays and when friends and family come in town. Sure, it's a bit pricey, and it's best to make reservations ahead of time, but the atmosphere and the view is totally worth it! It! Make sure you go when it's not cloudy or overcast. Our favorite appetizer is the brussel sprouts, and we love the caviar fries!

As you step inside, you're greeted by a gaggle of kids caught up in the latest gossip, their eyes half-closed—clearly, they’ve been enjoying some herb, not a biggie. However, the staff looks like they are unaware on how to tuck a shirt in, looking like they just survived a hurricane, and one team lead rocking a look that screams she's ready to barhop. Tip: If you're aiming to project a certain standard, maybe get the staff on board—and a uniform wouldn’t hurt either. After all, it’s hard to convince customers you’re upscale when the team looks like they just stumbled out of a clearance sale. Now, onto the food. I tackled the cold seafood tower and ended up consuming more sand than seafood. The steak? Mediocre at best. And the fries? Let's just say McDonald's should send a thank-you note for the competition. I guess they call it “Castaway” because it should be far from civilization, which ironically it is... Burbank has far more to offer than this culinary shipwreck

My son, had not seen his father in 2 years. I made reservations for them at Castaway and told the staff some details about why this dinner was so important to them both. The staff could not have delivered more. The evening for them was flawless, and extremely meaningful and memorable for them both. The food (sea bass and lamb) was perfectly done, the view stupendous and the waiter (Brian), superb! Both my son and his father returned glowing and raving about the experience. I CANNOT THANK THE STAFF AT CASTAWAY ENOUGH for making such an important night for them the best it could imaginably be! FIVE STARS ALL THE WAY FOR CASTAWAY! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Service was the best part of this experience. I thought some of the items on the hot seafood tower were overcooked and I was confused why the crustaceans were covered in a sauce when we had to crack them open and remove the meat. Surprised that no moist toilette or like was offered alongside the hot seafood tower. The filet mignon was just okay. The sides were nice and I’d have like the ganache on the chocolate cake to me on the side of the cake as well as the top (it was just on the first layer). It seems as if the upcharge is for the view.

I dined here with a friend. We had to park downhill and get shuttled to the restaurant. We checked in at the hostess desk and quite a few people came in afterwards. We went to the restroom and once we came out, they had seated most of the people. Once they seated a family they came in well after us, we had to inquire about us since we were the last two standing in the front. The hostess checked us in, but stated our full party hadn't arrived. They tried to seat us inside because everyone, that came after us, were outside. I had to point out an outside table to request it. The 4 service stars goes to the waitress. If I could rate her solo, I would give her 10+. She was polite, helpful and had us feeling like we had our own personal Disney waitress. She was the absolute BEST! A sweet and spicy cornbread was served before dinner. It was okay, without the honey butter. I REALLY wanted to try the chef's pick, but everyone at the table has to order it, so I got the ribeye. The ribeye steak was good. The lobster mashed potatoes needed more flavor and to be thickened. They reminded me of the mashed potatoes that came in frozen dinners. The lobster on top was good. I got the cauliflower and I didn't like it because of the sauce they put on it, but my friend liked it. The keylime pie was also good. The Belle drink was amazing and I loved the smokey taste. We had quite a bit of food leftover, so I took my steak and had my friend take the rest.

Our server, Brandon, was kind, friendly, and helpful, he provided exceptional recommendations and knew the menu and provided alternative off menu options when a drink item ran out. Such an awesome experience and a vibe to celebrate my born day!

The food was delicious and the portion sizes were great. The staff were extremely friendly, professional, and attentive to our guests' needs. ★☆☆☆☆ - Avoid at all costs! What a disaster! Castaway managed to turn what should have been a pleasant evening with friends who flew 4 hours into a frustrating ordeal. If you enjoy average food, mediocre waitstaff, and the thrill of wondering where your car has disappeared, then this is the place for you! Let's start with the valet service, shall we? At the beginning of the meal, a valet interrupted us at our table (yes, you read that right) to tell me my Tesla key wasn't working. Surprised and cooperative, I went outside only to find they were trying to open someone else's car - a Florida-plated Tesla (I live in California, by the way). Cue the comedy of errors as multiple staff members ran around like headless chickens trying to locate my actual car. About 10 minutes later, they finally found it. I've never had my vehicle misplaced by valet before, and I hope never to experience it again. When I returned to my table, my starters (appetizers) were lukewarm at best. There is nothing like food that has been sitting to enhance the dining experience, right? Speaking of food, it was decidedly average. The Brussels sprouts were tasty, I'll give them that, but everything else was forgettable. Actually, I take that back - it was memorable for how underwhelming it was. The view is admittedly beautiful, but you can enjoy that without subjecting yourself to this restaurant's incompetence. Pros: - Nice view Cons: - Incompetent valet service that misplaces cars - Staff that interrupts your meal for their mistakes - Lukewarm food - Average taste at best - Overpriced for the quality Save yourself the headache and go literally anywhere else. Your taste buds, your wallet, and your car will thank you.

I visited Castaway for the first time, and I had heard great things about it. The view was truly as beautiful as people said. Especially, Mr. Tyler, our server, was absolutely amazing. He gave great menu recommendations, took photos for us, and made my daughter's birthday really special. I’ve been to many restaurants, but it’s rare to meet someone as kind as Tyler. He’s the best! Thank you so much!

My recent visit to Castaways was an absolute delight! The food was exceptional, with every dish prepared to perfection and bursting with flavor. But what truly elevated the experience was the spectacular service. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable evening. First time here for a spur of the moment dinner. The atmosphere is great and the views are breathtaking. We came during dinner service and the food was just average. There was a complimentary cheddar jalapeño cornbread which was dry and unamusing. We had one or two bites and that’s all. We started with a dozen oysters and a crab cake, I got a gin martini. The crab cake did have some shell in it and was covered in cabbage which was an odd choice of dressing. Then I got the Filet Mignon with grilled shrimp and my fiancé got the squid ink bucatini. My sirloin was cooked perfectly but was sprinkled with coarse salt which gave it a crunch. The shrimp was undercooked and relatively cold and tasteless when I got it. My second martini came in a coupe glass instead of a martini glass which was interesting but not a big deal. Tasted the same. My fiancé’s dish was supposed to have some spice but it was relatively sweet and didn’t actually come with the bucatini noodle but more of a Pici noodle. Bucatini should have a hole through the center Pici does not. His was also a bit bland. We both got a lava cake dessert (espresso and chocolate) which was good. Total for our meal came out to $285.28

Our sever was great, but it took 2 hours to receive our dinner after we sat at the table. After 2 hours of waiting I was not in the mood for dinner anymore and did not enjoy my food.

One of the cleanest bars. No gnats, fresh fruit stored in a fridge. No stickiness on the bar top and no smell of mop water or spoiled fruit. Sincerely an attempt at upscale with the valet, vibes, cleanliness and atmosphere. Also, the menu has recently changed. Ok, to stop by again.

Nice restaurant with great views. Food was amazing. They have valet parking for $9. They were packed for Sunday brunch and a couple of private parties 🥳 that they had going. This is a hidden gem 💎 in the hills over looking the SFV. Most definitely we will be back to experience dinner during sunset.

My husband and I celebrated our 30th anniversary here. We were both very happy. It started by getting our car valet park, and the guys were cordial. Walked into the restaurant greeted by smiles from everyone in the reception. As soon as we gave our name, they greeted us. "Happy Anniversary" that really put a "BIG" smile 😃 on our faces. As we were walking to our table, we walked by managers, and they said, "Welcome." We both started with cocktail 🍸 drinks, and we both enjoyed it. Followed with fresh oysters appetizer. We ordered the Seafood Tower (hot), and it was so good. End our dinner with simple but again very satisfying dessert. Our server, Caroline, also made a good contribution to our experience. She did a great job taking care of us. Aside from the above, we met a couple next to us who were also celebrating their 17th wedding anniversary. They were both very pleasant. Thank you, Castaway. We will be back more and will recommend you.

The evening sunset here is gorgeous. They have valet at this place but it’s a very affordable $9 (this is around September idk if the price goes up). The entrance is stunning, koi pond and a picture taking opportunity at the entrance. The staff is amazing, we had a wait time and they came out looking for us, not many places do that. The decor inside is amazing, very fancy to keep up with its extravagant view. The steak was delicious , it’s been a while since I had steak like this, the meat was well prepared and competes pretty well with steak houses. The wagyu pink brick was also superb, really great experience cooking it and the taste itself is amazing. Unfortunately those were the only dishes that did it for me. We had the fries but they were mid, taste like fries are meant to taste. Their cornbread that day was really dry, the butter they pair it with is amazing and I had to use it to add moisture to my bread, otherwise it was a tough swallow. Overall a great visit for the view, but I feel like the food prices are what they are just due to the view and not the actual flavor. Best vantage spots are the booths seated near the windows and the most outer area near the glass railing.

Great place to have a good time and a date with good vibe. A quite romantic atmosphere but the food was terrible. There used to be lots of many different kind of delicious starters but they were all gone. I do not really eat stakes, may the stake could have been good but the food I ordered was unfortunately not so good..sad...
