We stayed at this hotel for the Swansea Ironman and ate in the Cast Iron Bar & Grill twice for dinner. Having read earlier reviews we did wonder what it would be like. We were very happy, fish and chips, pasta and burger were all good. Staff and service excellent.

We didn't stay at the hotel Delta Marriott Swansea, but we did have dinner at the Cast iron bar and grill. The food was amazing 5 star. We had the low and slow BBQ sauce baby ribs we I highly recommend having. The menu wasn't big but a wide choice for meat eaters or vegetarians. We received lovely service from a lady called Julie Coe. Upon leaving she asked if we would like to sign up for the Bon voy Marriott and gave us very positive reasons why to sign up. I would recommend this place as ot was only a minutes away from the beach too. If we ever did return to Swansea we would definitely book to stay here

Was worried by some of the reviews here. Food pricy, and took longer than expected too come. But when it did, it had obviously been cooked fresh, and was really good. Service was excellent. So if you're staying here, don't feel you have to go elsewhere for dinner - this is a good option.

The flavour of the cod was a bit lacking, the chips were a little dry and the "crushed peas" were peas that had been boiled and crushed (as the name suggests). What´s wrong with mushy peas (or call them puree of peas)?

We had the misfortune of dining from this restaurant in the evening twice during our short stay at the hotel purely out of convenience. The first time we ordered room service and ate a pizza, Marriott burger and chicken salad. All were sub standard. Chicken chewy, burger and bun charred and pizza hard (like one from the freezer) and lacking tomato sauce. Disappointing but I always expect quality to drop for the convenience of room service. The second time we went to the restaurant in person. We’re fans of seafood so figured that what with being by Swansea Bay and Swansea market (which sells excellent fish) this should be good in a reputable hotel restaurant with pictures of seafood on the walls. How wrong could we be. Scallop starters were overcooked and overpowered by pesto. My rib-eye steak was served in several chunks, and cooked rare instead of medium (which I don’t mind) but it was over salted to the point I found myself trying to scrape away the salt. I have had worse steaks and was hungry so ate it anyway. I left the garnish of watercress as it looked like it had spent a few weeks at the back of the fridge. But the prize goes to my partner’s mussel and chorizo main-course. This was nasty! She asked me if it smelled funny and I tasted a bit but it was so salty it was difficult for me to distinguish anything above the salty taste. This was until she discovered a foul ‘excrement’ smelling mussel in the pot. I would normally pay the bill and leave rather than causing a scene. But since mussels can cause food-poisoning I felt something had to be said. I explained this but none the scene I feared slowly unfolded. The food was taken the chef who insisted it was fine, the waiter explained the mussels were fresh yesterday, another said they were fresh today. I even had to explain to a waiter how to identify if a mussel is alive before serving! The whole experience was cringe worthy to say the least. We weren’t charged for the dish or service but stopped our meal short and spent the evening worried we’d been poisoned. Luckily no sickness was experienced. Most worrying to me is the fact that the chef could not identify a bad mussel that smelled of s#%t. Other tables looked disappointed with their expensive food too. If you value your time, money and health don’t eat here! Marriott - you need to sort this out as it’s not good enough!

Good starter of Mushroom toast. Impressed with the size of rump but asked for medium to well steak and paid a premium so was disappointed that it appeared to be undercooked, pretty fatty too. Told waitress but wasnt offered a replacement or money off the hefty price. Not many customers so service was OK. Finished with a cheese platter, grapes looked a bit sorrowful.

A tip for the unwary is that Swansea is generally shut on a Monday night. Efforts to find a decent restaurant that was either (a) open or (b) if it was open, didn't shut early, fell on stony ground. We were staying at the Marriott so took the path of least resistance and ate at the restuarant attached to the Marriott, which was the Cast Iron Bar and Grill. To be honest I was not expecting any big deal - so we were really pleasantly surprised. The food was very good. Excellent fried squid starter and then a delicious steak. All washed down with an excellent bottle of Merlot. Indeed I would recomment the restaurant to anyone staying at the Marriott. Very busy early evening but on reflection that is not a surprise. It seems that Swansea eats early so when we arrived at 9.00am it was quieter but none the worse for that. Really helpful staff aswell, navigated us through the menu and even suggested a couple of options on how we could save on our order. How many times do you get that in a restaurant. So good we went in there for breakfast the enxt morning. Excellent buffet and omelette made to order. So all in all if you dont fancy venturing out - stay indoors and go straight to the Cast Iron. Even if not staying at the Marriott this is worth a visit.

Came here as a family of 12, was dead there and they had loads of staff. I have eaten in many restaurants and will only give a bad review when it's deserved. The food was mediocre, the starter I had French onion soup and that was nice, the main which was a burger was not pleasant. The pickles were doused in vinegar it was too much. The dessert was cheesecake, stale popcorn on top... why? They forgot something on every course and my 4 year old son was left waiting 20 minutes for ice cream, and it still came out wrong. Safe to say I wont be coming here again, there was barely any choice on the menu. The only reason it gets 2 is one for the soup, and one for the comfy chairs. I would head up the road and eat in the many other restaurants available.

We didn't want to go out for dinner so ate in the hotel restaurant which was very good for the limited offering. We had burgers.

I we t down to the restaurant in my hotel for something to eat. There were only a few people in the restaurant. The hostess was ok, she was pleasant but I didn’t feel a warm welcome. The waitress seemed annoyed to have a table of one. The specials or soup of the days explained to me. She handed me the menu and then went on to the other table she had. After getting my drink she never came back to the table. After finishing my drink I just felt uncomfortable sitting in a nearly empty restaurant by myself. I flagged down the waitress and asked if I could get the check and take it up to my room. I will say though when I got to my room and started to eat, the food was pretty good.

Went last night on my own. Service was very disappointing. Meal took far too long. Not sure if problem was in the kitchen or insuffient 'front of house staff'. Either way, it was poor. Adding insult to injury, they put service charge on the bill. They must have realised how long I'd been sitting there.I would have expected better from the Mariott. Food was ok, and price average.

The staff in this restaurant need re-training. During our first night at the hotel we desided to eat at their restaurant so we went early. Their were lots of empty tables all set up for dinner but the waitress took us to a table that was still being cleaned and was wet. The cleaner then left without finishing the job, leaving crumbs on the table and chairs. We then had to wait for them to bring cutlery. When our meal was served the food was good, but the waitress then disappeared and we were unable to order more wine or dessert so we gave up and left. At breakfast the next morning I made the mistake of ordering an omlette. It is an open kitchen so I was able to watch her make the omlete and I must say that I've never seen anyone make an omlete the way this young girl made it. End result was a watery, undercooked omlete which I took to the table but did not eat for fear of getting sick from under cooked eggs. The other food was okay so all I can say is don't order an omlette. The scambled eggs were thoroughly cooked so a much better option.

We ordered a chicken burger and a fish burger as we were in a hurry. The food arrived quite fast and was excellent however when my partner asked for mustard, he was asked what kind. The waiter brought both American Mustard and French and asked to pick the right one. He hadn't got a clue. Like the hotel the staff need a fast and intense doze of training.

When staying at the Marriott, my brother and I decided to go down and try out Cast Iron and we were not disappointed! We were met by a lovely waitress - Jodie, who made sure we were cared for and picked some lovely wines! - we would probably just come back because she was such a great waitress. We shared the soup of the day - amazing! and I had the pork ribs while my brother had the Ribeye steak. Both were great and full of flavour. We felt that it was definitely worth the money.

We were staying at the hotel, so on our first night, being tired and lazy, we had dinner here. We were treated well by an attentive staff, the food was plentiful and tasty, and the prices were reasonable. Would definitely recommend this place to locals and visitors alike.

We visited the Cast Iron Bar and Grill to enjoy a birthday meal and were very disappointed with the slow and inaccurate service. When we ordered we were the only people in the restaurant, at about 13:15 on Saturday. The starters took nearly 45 minutes to arrive. While the food was excellent, the bread provided with the soup was meagre and we asked for a bread roll to go with one of them. About 10 minutes later we were informed that it was being cooked and would take a little while, by which point the soup had been finished. Three of the four main courses turned up half an hour later, the fourth being delayed by another 10 minutes as they were waiting for an egg to cook. One of the party is allergic to pepper and we had asked for the salmon not to have pepper on. The salmon eventually arrived, covered in pepper, and minus the chips also ordered. This was sent back and, after another 10 minutes the chips arrived, followed, after a further delay, by the salmon. All the food was of excellent quality, but the time taken to serve the food, and the failure of communication between serving staff and those in the kitchen, really spoiled the occasion. It became clear why the restaurant was so quiet on a Saturday lunchtime. It is a shame that such a potentially good restaurant is let down by basic organisational failures.

Came here a year ago and it was fantastic in every respect. It makes the following more surprising. Firstly, the receptionist wanted a receipt for our meal in order to enter my car registration into their computer. I did feel obliged to point out that there was no receipt since we had neither eaten nor paid yet. Food was lovely....BUT... I was a little surprised that the restaurant was virtually empty...and then we found out why... 1. Over one and a half hours from arrival time to being served. 2. No bread rolls as it was still being baked after over an hour and we booked yesterday. 3. Even when the rest of us were served, salmon with a poached egg was 10 minutes late as the chef was cooking a soft boiled egg. (10 minutes to boil an egg ?????!). When the salmon did come out, it was smothered in pepper despite being specifically requested otherwise due to an allergy concern. They were very apologetic and quite happy not to charge for the meal in question. I haven't seen such abysmal service in a long time. A prime candidate for a Gordon Ramsay reality TV show? You couldn't make this up. Hmmmm.

Have reviewed their Sunday Roast probably two years ago and was a bit lacking.. however as a club member I had a 50% off deal so thought I would try again and have to say I was not disappointed.... Normal price was £17.95 but even at that price it was excellent value. Place is clean and tidy, it is pub atmosphere and setting and the food likewise so no good if you are looking for a Masterchef experience.... The roast was huge, I could not finished it, two well proportioned slices of beef and so,so much veg but so many varieties and a really good Yorkshire. Staff were attentive and welcoming and in fairness you could not fault it. Very laid back and relaxing visit. Thoroughly enjoyed and I should def make more of this facility, after all in the pool/gym 5 days a week anyway!

Three of us booked for Sunday lunch. Hubby and I chose the lamb, which was absolutely scrumptious. Grandson, who is vegetarian chose the nut roast (no other option). The selection of vegetables was okay - peas, carrots, cabbage and swede. An option of cauliflower cheese would have been nice - at an extra cost. It was however, disappointing not to have a Yorkshire pudding. It seems that they only come with the beef. My grandson in particular would have liked one - he didn’t have any roast potatoes either, which I think is ridiculous. It was a very tasty dinner with real gravy but for the price yorkies should have come as standard.
