Beautiful food, well presented, lovely service. The lasagne was perfect. Loved the carriage area.

An excellent choice for a family lunch to celebrate my husbands 80th birthday. Food, service and ambience first class. I will certainly recommend this restaurant to others. Thankyou for making this special for us.

Went to dine on a Thursday at 5:20 pm but sadly it was closed. We were disappointed.

Had food here today bank Holiday. It took over a long time to come out. Only one meal arrived which may I add was not hot the Stilton sauce was barely warm. The chips was end it's really crispy no potatoe in them. Steak was ordered medium well, received medium rare. I was offered a meal they would cook quick or something that wouldn't take so long, but we didn't want to wait another 45 mins to hour for second meal. They offered a discount on the steak meal which was £3 and our 2 drinks for free which was a pint and a half pint of orange juice and lemonade. If it wasn't for the poor meal quality of the one meal we received and the long wait for the meal maybe that would have been acceptable. Wouldn't recommend at all

We went here as not many places in the area for dinner BUT the place was quirky, the service great and the food was delicious. Beautifully cooked, flavorsome and excellent value for money. So glad we went

What a gem of a place! From the décor, attention to detail and service staff, it really is like a step back in time, where luxury, service and standards are at the heart of the business. The server we had fit the part very well and mannerisms added to the experience, you could be forgiven for thinking you stepped back into the early 1900's. Please take the opportunity to sit in the actual carriage, the old world pictures, immaculate set tables and old furniture all add to this unique feature. The service was good, quality of food and beverage was also good and reasonable price. The only comment I can give for feedback, that would raise this experience to a 5-star rating is that one cardinal sin was committed; the plate serving the breakfast we ordered was cold, and so killed the temperature of the food, cold beans and sausage. Please plate up on pre-heated plates and that prevents this. Upwards and onwards for this fantastic and unique place, I also noticed it holds events too, definitely worth considering and this place hands down beats any of the high-street bland brands.

We were looking for a good place to eat Sunday lunch before our plane trip and really hit the jackpot here! Our three course lunch was really tasty and we were made to feel very welcome by the staff. We will certainly be returning when we are next in Luton.

Stopped here as the train carriage section looked amusing. Plenty of parking, chatty staff and good service. The train carriage room was as assuming and fun as it looked on line. We all Burgers and were very happy, especially with the nicely over cooked (properly cooked?) chips. If heading to Buxton skip the motorway services and stop here instead.

Railway themed restaurant with large bar area which is dog friendly. Food is very tasty and they had kind staff. On the side is a non-dog friendly section but is styled like a train carriage and i will be coming back to see that.

Friendly staff, good food and good service dog friendly with a great cocktail menu which the Mrs enjoyed.

Ciao!! We had a marvellous and VERY attentive experience here in Luton at the Carriages Pizzeria. Authentic seafood dishes and thin crust pizza!! This is a restaurante not to be missed if you have a layover in Luton, England!! Stefano our server and Fabixio our chef provided an atmosphere and taste sensations which truly must be experienced. Not to be missed if you have an international layover in Luton for your travels!

The food was delicious! I ordered the seafood pasta and it was to die for. My husband ordered the coal fired pizza and it was authentic, thick crusted with spicy meats - outstanding. Our waiter, Stefani was superb and attentive. We would definitely recommend this restaurant. The chef prepared an outstanding meal that I will not soon forget! Complements to the incredible chef and outstanding staff.

My family and I came for dinner today the service and staff are amazing. They even brought out our homemade birthday cake, and some roast beef for our dog.

I can’t actually believe I have lived down the road from here for so many years and only just discovered this place. The food and service are excellent. I went twice in the same week. Steak night perfect and fish and chip Friday also excellent, might even make a 3rd visit in one week. My partner agrees that it’s excellent food. Zero complaints and very good prices considering the current Financial Times. I feel as though eating out here is value for money where other places I visited regularly don’t seem to be worth the increased rates. Well done!

Good portions of fish and chips, 2 4 20. Good selection of beers, clean and tidy. Service very good.

Recently visited this pub while on a mini break. Very friendly and efficient staff. Very nice food. Would highly recommend.

This place is a little gem, well situated near the High Peak Trail for lunch along the way. The railway theme is fantastic (we ate in the carriage) and the food was good. Their website is currently broken so we couldn't preview the menu for our fussy child. They were really lovely and did us an off-menu kids' fish and chips which was excellent and saved our lunch! Lovely service. Only thing I would want is slightly more veggie choice, but veggie Sunday roast was good.

The restaurant was packed. We only got a table because we had prebooked our fish and chips special, 2 for £20 on a Friday. A huge portion of fish and some tartare sauce, as well as the pea shoots garnish were very well received by us.My husband always enjoys the Real Ales that are served there

Great place, we booked to sit in the carriage area which was wonderful, our children thought it was great. So much choice on the menu for adults and children. Food was all delicious and generous sized portions.would highly recommend

Absolutely stunning place, it's amazing design based on trains is genuine genius. Stunning menu with a whole plethora of food idea. We came for Sunday lunch. It was absolutely beautiful, I asked for extra yorkshire pudding and roasters which I got and the meal was beautiful. Great staff and overall a great vibe. It's a place I wish I could visit regularly but unfortunately I live in Birmingham but whenever I am in Matlock I will be visiting. Next visit will be for afternoon tea in September. I can't wait. If your local you need to visit this hidden gem.

The food was ok but nothing special. We waited for about 1 hour and a half to get our food. I know it can happen, but it would have been nice being told something about the delay, rather than having to go and enquire ourselves.

Rubbish experience here..went for a Sunday lunch and when the staff finally acknowledged me, i was told there was no food left. I asked if there was anything else on the menu I could order to be told flatly, no..which I thought unusual for an eatery to say the least. We'd travelled a long way so ordered a Guinness which was in a can! While having my drink, I noticed different meals being bought out, after being told they had no food left..I again asked if there was something I could order and this time I was told I had to book a table, so I asked if I could book a table now while standing at the bar, bearing in mind there were a lot of empty tables, only then to be told again, no..it had to be online! The whole experience was a complete farce..the young staff had no customer service skills and were completely unhelpful. I would have thought with business's needing custom, they would have been more accommodating..sadly not and with five potential customers, they lost out on a lot of takings.

A little gem of a place great staff and nostalgic railway theme a must visit for food and drinks and value for money.

Great Sunday lunch with all trimmings for me the belly of pork; for my wife who has a smaller appetite they brought a child's portion of the roast beef. Excellent service from friendly and helpful staff. Thank you.

A good place to go with my sister and my niece Kevin came to husband to my mum We don't get together often but it's now a year since my mother's death so we both travel out and it was a good experience the food was really good cannot praise the size and the taste of the fish a lot better than the local chippies I didn't have the chips my sister and Kevin said timer lovely mushy peas antarte sauce where's spot on four four meals and tree drinks of coffee totalled£80 that I was happy to pay

We had a lovely meal here, we were seated in the railway carriage, lovely ambience, pork belly was delicious & my hubby had the burger which also was very nice, definitely worth a try! Cocktails great too,we would recommend,great food & service.

Over a course of 15 days and numerous villages and amazing places we still went to Carriages 3 times. It became our comfort food place and was well worth every penny spent. If you are anywhere around there you must give it a try!

What a epic place , if you haven't been , do yourself a favour and get yourself over there , you just need to go and try it for yourself

What a delightful pub with an exquisite twist...the theme Railway Carriage was just great,felt you were in a real train...what might be a great idea to have a background moving train track to give a sense that you are on the Orient express...Food was just great,the belly pork was amazing and local beer was tasty..such a shame we live somewhere 409 miles away on the South Coast😫

Lovely restaurant with a wide range of meal choices from standard pub fayre through to more unusual things like chowder. Very extensive cocktail menu with some unusual mixes. Sitting in the carriage is of course a novel experience and there are bigger tables out in the main restaurant for larger crowds. Also does beers and ales.

Excellent service and amazing freshly cooked food. Great choice of cocktails and loved the 'train carriage' experience!

Our first visit. We had to find a suitable venue for some Italian friends who were in the area for one night. They were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. We shall go again.

A small group of us visited for the bottomless brunch for a Christmas get together, the service was attentive and friendly and the food was excellent, very generous portions especially for a set menu and it was all exceptionally good! Will definitely be back !

Superb meal ad always well worth a visit

Wonderful food and service when going for a family meal but would also come back for a quiet romantic date. The food was lovely and there was a lot of choice on the menu. The seats in the carriage are only able to seat 4 if you especially want that. Also they were quiet when we visited (Thursday) but as an incredible location hope to see them busier.

6 of us attended, 2 of us are big eaters. We sat in the carriage, plenty of space, lovely food, very reasonable prices even on full menu. We went for the fish and chips deal but some of us had other meals. Puddings were lovely, all were full, satisfied and would recommend to anyone local or passing by. Will be back.

This is becoming our favourite restaurant now. Just so much choice on the menu alone, besides the daily specials. Staff are always so friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable about the food on offer. I also visit with a disabled family member, and staff are just beyond amazing with them.

I visited here yesterday evening with 20 friends, the services was outstanding - really attentive, really friendly and very smiley. The food was lovely too, gorgeous presentation and everything tasted lush. There were plenty of options to pick from too. The interior is quite a classic Italian feel to it and also good prices.

Lovely Restaurant, Offers Gluten Free Food and allows behaved Dogs. Nice homely food and some nicer dishes too. Staff are very friendly. Has a good drinks range as well as Cocktails.

We went here for my mothers 80th birthday. We were greeted by Patrick who was very attentive. Some of our group have dietary requirements and Patrick made sure that the kitchen staff were aware. The food was lovely and tasty and was reasonably priced. The chef even gave my mum a bottle of Prosecco which was a nice surprise and we have never been to a restaurant who has given a bottle of drink before. When we were leaving the restaurant the staff and the chef even came to say goodbye to us. We really enjoyed the evening and we recommend this restaurant for the lovely food and the good service especially Patrick. Could do with more vegetable sides with your dinner but not a problem

Visited weekday evening for a birthday. The restaurant was quiet and looked like just hotel guests using it to eat and what a shame! One of the best value Italian meals I’ve ever had - what an absolute gem of a restaurant! The food was just so tasty, beautifully presented….absolutely outstanding…I can’t say anymore! Nothing to complain about whatsoever! The waiting staff were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and engaged in some fun banter! They had read my note on the booking about the Birthday and really made a point of acknowledging it, which was such a nice touch. The chef even came out and spoke to us and shared his passion, which was really appreciated. If I had to give any other feedback, it would maybe be the decor and style was a bit flat and didn’t feel like it matched the menu/food etc but that’s being really picky! 100% we will all be back - everyone should visit!

Spotted this little gem, while travelling to the nearby reservoir. Little unsure about the quirky train carriage built inside to give the feeling of fine dining aboard something like the Orient Express, but it’s good fun, and probably helps attract more people than an ordinary pub would, so 10/10 for ingenuity, but I’m not sure it’s completely necessary as the star of the show was definitely the food. I had the sea food chowder, which came with garlic bread and fries, and it was spot on delish. Sea food bang on cooked, good thick creamy sauce, seasoned to perfection. Garlic bread was light and crunchy and not too heavy on the garlic. Fries were fresh, not frozen, always good to see, crisp with skin on and light and fluffy inside. My partners pie was good and tasty, although she is not a fan of courgette, and their was quite a bit on the plate, in fact, I think it was the whole courgette. Her sisters lasagne was great although it kept getting compared to a previous lasagne which was swimming in an orange sauce. Malteser’s cheese cake for dessert was just divine, to finish the night off.

Best restaurant in Luton hands down. Need I say more? Well yes, Fillet steak with foie gras was unbelievable and one of the best wood fired pizza selections I have tasted

Little place off the main road. Girls working are lovely and friendly and very attentive. Service was fast and waitress efficient. Place itself is a little dated, bar area resembles a working man's club and the carriage itself was a little outdated and very tight for space round the tables hence the 3 star rating. If it was based on staff and cheesecake, they'd get a 5 star.

It's a lovely restaurant in idyllic in a lovely area. We had lunch there and the meal was very good and the Sweet's were amazing, I will go back there soon.

Amazing hidden gem in Luton! This place deserves 5 stars! Vey enjoyable evening, with tasty food in decent portions. We had the occasion to talk to the chef, and thank him for his tasty dishes made with such passion. Staff were so accommodating and friendly. We are looking forward to visit again.

Started with a pasta followed by a meat dish. All was cooked to perfection. Service was attentive and fast. Price of both food and drinks was reasonable. If you are looking for some authentic Italian food in the Luton area, this is the place to be.

We were in for a real treat and a fantastic surprise 😁 when we booked a meal without knowing anything about this place. We were taken back once we entered to find an actual train carriage inside the pub, I know the name kind of gives you a clue but WOW. Definitely would recommend this fine establishment for a romantic evening with a loved one or a family gathering 😉👏❤️

Pizza & Calzone we chose were absolutely delicious, loads of flavour with a very light pizza dough base. Truffle fries as an extra were very more-ish. OMG what a yummy tiramisu… Restaurant is beautiful in its Italian decor and staff are very friendly, nothing was too much for them. Definitely a great place to come and dine. We will be back!

This is a very nice restaurant with a unique decoration, very comfortable seating. The food was very tasty. The service was friendly and efficient and we were absolutely delighted with the company of the sweet Lily, the restaurant's dog 🥰. Highly recommended.

Absolutely incredible !!!!! Went on Sunday to celebrate my niece’s birthday. The restaurant is wonderfully clean and very charming. All the staff are excellent beyond a fault. Not only is it a chic restaurant but they also have a wood fired pizzeria oven with a traditional Napoli pizza chef. The owner is a Master Chef. Fabrizio is clearly and literally world class and the food is exquisite. The prices are very reasonable. We had starters, pizzas and also ordered off the fine dining menu. If all arrived together, quickly and at the perfect temperature. All in all, this place is a hidden gem and absolutely recommended. Well done !!!

The carriages part of the restaurant was nice, but the main dining area lacked atmosphere. Food was average but service was excellent.

The decor inside and out was very unique however the service and the food was lacking the standard expected, our server got our order wrong more than once, staff appear to congregate around the bar, I had noticed as more guest were coming in staff weren't as attentive as you'd expect at welcoming them in considering it wasn't busy and guest were left waiting to be seated. Food was average.

What a wonderfully pleasant find! We were travelling home from London this evening, when we stumbled upon this restaurant… what a wonderful little gem of a place! The food was delectable, the service impeccable and the ambiance, decor and such, beautiful, stylish and warm. Our waiter was affable, charming and knowledgeable, with no affectation or hard sale, rather, informative, knowledgable about the food and offering suggestions to entice… the food was just phenomenal and whilst the prices may reflect that, I would urge you not to be put off as the quality is well worth the cost for a nice evening out. We will certainly be back in future!

Good value and tasty lunch menu. Was a bit cool in the carriage and for me could have done with some background music, even if very low.

We were staying at the hotel and booked into the resteraunt for dinner, so we didn't have to drive. It was definatley worth it. The food was good quality, tasted good and as described.

Amazing food. We ordered a pizza piccante and pollo supreme with a side of broccoli. It really was exceptional food. Best meal for a long time. I usually venture in to London. I asked how the broccoli was cooked as it was so delicious but the chef wanted to keep it a secret - I don’t blame him, I guess.

Our expectations were quite high given the reviews and as we have Italian relatives, we have travelled there a lot and love the cuisine. As the price is high for Luton, we thought that we were in for a treat. Unfortunately it fell way short of expectations and the food was pretty average. We tried everything and nothing stood out as anything more that what we would expect from an average restaurant in Italy. We won’t be returning, even though the staff were great.

Not been for a long time. Stopped for Sunday, lunch, myself, wife and granddaughter. Didn't book but there was room in the family section. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was calm. It was a dog friendly area and I thought it would bother me but it didn't. I would definitely go again.
