This is the second visit to this establishment. Upon arrival, the parking was easy although busy. As you enter the restaurant, you have a sign asking people to wait here to be seated. Problem he is... it is a confined space for four people, and if I was sitting on the table opposite the door, I'd get annoyed with people hanging over my table. My advice is to remove the sign and get people to the bar! Thankfully, our attention was drawn to the bar. The lady confirmed our booking and advised us where we were sitting. I decided to get drinks at the bar as this would speed things up and save staff a job, which I don't mind. After getting our drinks and sitting down at the table, we began enjoying family time. The young lad was on the ball with asking for our order, we kindly asked for another 5 mins, and he was spot-on. Good eye contact and confident when speaking to us, he was knowledgeable about the options that were available with the food. As conversation flowed, a couple of drinks glasses were empty. Although the young lad was seen taking orders at another table, the women servers were following each other with nothing in their hands! This frustrates me because it's an opportunity to sell more drinks. Anyway, we caught the attention of the blonde lady to kindly took our drinks order. When she asked if there was anything else, I asked for the WiFi code. She said she'd get the code. (Trip Advisor sticker on the door window advising free wifi). Our conversation continued, and drinks seemed to take a little longer than expected. I could see they might have had a busy spurt. Our drinks eventually arrived after about 5 mins. I suddenly discovered our food was given to the wrong table, who had sat down 10 minutes prior to getting their food. The blonde server brought out the pie, and that's when the mistake was identified. The two chaps were happy with the food option whilst one was taken back to the kitchen. I just hope the integrity of kitchen staff as I had seen the meal had been placed down in front of the customer and cutlery used in the meal. I truly didn't want to experience what might be happening in the kitchen. We eventually got our food, and I didn't like the idea of the food coming out, as you can imagine. Although the food was very good, the potatoes were not. There was no check on the table during our meal. When the plates were removed to did point out that the potatoes were not right for the meal although cooked well. I'm guessing the wrong type or quality of the potato wasn't right. Very bizarrely, after giving the feedback, I noticed the chef walk back into the kitchen. His gaze was on our table said it all. However, I would have welcomed him to come to the table as it would drive up standards and quality, making the overall success. We chose to skip deserts because, overall, the expectations were met. Four drinks and 3 or 4 desserts down on revenue. I only give feedback as a way to improve the customer experience. If you have guests round for an evening meal, you'd want it to be a pleasant experience. Most businesses fail because they forget the minor details that make it an especially experience.

We had heard good things about The Carpenters Arms after reading the reviews and had been past on the way to and from King's Lynn and liked the look of the place, so went as a family of 4 for a Sunday treat. It's very easy to find, has lots of free parking at the restaurant and the place has quite nice kerb appeal. It all looks really nice. We had booked so we're showed to our table and were soon drinking fizzy pop looking at the menu. There's a good choice and we were all hungry (and we eat A LOT) so opted for a 3 course dinner (which turned into 4 and then 5 for me) - our starters were halloumi, Stilton mushrooms and 2x paté and ciabatta, mains were to be 2 large roasts, a smaller roast and a steak pie and mash. Starters: The halloumi was deliciously cooked in tempura batter and very nice and crispy apparently. Good start! The paté was also very tasty, but both said they wished there was more bread as there wasn't enough for the paté quantity. The mushrooms were lovely and cheesy, but not really stilton-y - more melted cheddary and a bit cheese saucy. Mains: the best by far was the pie and mash! Although the mash seemed to be Smash not mash it all went down very well. The roasts weren't rubbish - the Yorkshire pudding was very good, the roast potatoes were hot and fluffy (not crispy) and the meat felt like it had been under a heat lamp for an hour or so, so the pork was a bit tough and hard to cut and chew. The beef however was cut so thin it looked like it had just been cut at the deli counter. Don't get me wrong, it all tasted OK and was all edible and stuff, but it was just a bit... average. Not bad, but not that good either. Dessert: Plum pie and cold custard for me, for the other 3 a sticky toffee pud and cold custard, another sticky toffee with cream and an Eton mess. The plum pie was OK, but the custard was Asda brand or Lidl or Aldi or something, so it was a bit thin and very very sweet. The sticky toffee looked and tasted delicious! Best dessert all round. The Eton mess however was exactly that, a bit of a mess. It was basically a strawberry smoothie with very little broken up meringue and what there was, was floating at the top. I ordered one after my plum pie to see what it was really like and I basically drank mine, very little meringue and the smoothie seemed... slightly warm. I ordered a couple of coffees to wash down the food and decided to order a cheese board to share with the table. It's a nice looking board as someone's Dessert, and comes with 3 chunks of cheese, brie, cheddar and Stilton and a selection of crackers, a bit of chutney and a side salad. The brie was sent back because it was old and crunchy and very sad looking and a new bigger piece that was lovely and soft arrived - MUCH better. Overall the entire experience was OK. There was nothing terrible about it. The atmosphere was friendly, the place looked nice, and the servers (especially Josh who ran back and forth a bit for us) were accommodating and friendly and professional. The food wasn't bad, it was OK, but it wasn't great either. There was a couple of highlights but they were generally overshadowed by the mediocrity of the rest which is a shame because it could be a great restaurant. Weirdly, there seemed to be an abundance of house flies which was a bit annoying to keep shooing them away. TL:DR; Lovely location, with great staff and service, but let down mainly by mediocre food at the chosen price point. After spending £150 trying LOTS of food we came away saying we were a bit disappointed. We were glad we tried it but won't be returning unfortunately.

Great food, poor reception....the food here is lovely with a decent portion, although sometimes you get told you have to wait around 30-40mins for it, but it's worth the wait! However, the middle aged lady who takes orders at the bar, with grayish hair, and glasses above her head is extremely rude. She had her back to my partner and 4 other customers for a good 5mins or so, whilst she was putting in orders at the back of the bar on a small screen. She NEVER once turned around to acknowledge anyone, even though it was obvious people were waiting to be served. Then I saw her turn around with head down, leave the bar, and ignore everyone whilst she went to ask about something. Then returned to proceed to input something else on the screen. I have never seen a staff member be so rude & unprofessional at work, and at least tell customers she'll be with them soon! So I think you ought to give her some customer service training ASAP before you lose all your regular customers or employ more staff if you're that busy!! And oh yeah, please can you tell her to smile when serving customers! :) Sorry but this is the reason why I gave only 3 stars! The other staff member with dark hair who serves the food is lovely!

We didn't know before arriving but there was a quiz night (Thursday) which we took part in and were made to feel welcome by both the staff and the locals. Reasonably priced Sunday roast, very friendly staff and dog friendly. Pork was really nice but unfortunately the lamb was fairly fatty. Nice selection of veg, roast potatoes, yorkie and extra gravy.

Lovely place stopped on our way into Norfolk. I am looking forward to dining in the establishment in the near future.

I had pasta with braised beef & tomatoes. Very tasty & well presented. Sue had a chicken breast dinner. Very nice & served with a warm smile & friendly conversation. Very clean throughout. Parked outside the door! Can highly recommend. Thank you to all staff. Special thanks to the waitress who brought me bread to mop up the sauce. It was delicious & could not be left for the washing up.

Great spot for some vegan ice cream/sorbet. My little boy is anaphylactic to dairy and was very cautious about eating any when he was looking at the different flavours (there were 4 for him to choose from). The lady quickly realised he was upset and got some fresh utensils out to reassure him and he gladly accepted it! It's finally nice to know we can take him somewhere and he can join in! We'll definitely be back. Thank you for making an allergy child feel included x
