Carpenters Arms in West Oxfordshire

My wife and I made a booking for 30 December and once again, we were not disappointed! We received great service and all the staff were lovely and welcoming. My wife has a gluten, dairy and egg restriction but it is never a problem here, as all of the food is cooked homemade to order and everything we have is presented wonderfully with all of the food full of flavour and delicious! The menu is varied and interesting and we really enjoy being able to try Cambodian cuisine. We live about 2 hours away and often stay in Oxford, and always will try to visit this restaurant when we can. We definitely recommend to others. Thank you for a lovely evening and we also enjoyed the little magic trick at the table!

I don't often leave reviews but been here twice now and both times food was excellent, definitely worth a visit...

This has been one of our favourite takeaways for a few years now, and always had great food, however this evening, we ordered our normal order and not a single thing was even average let alone good, the fish curry just tasted of coconut milk, the calamari was so big that it was not cooked and the batter was raw, we asked for a dish with no tofu and it came with extra tofu, and the rice was over cooked and stodgier.. please fire the new chef, as this is was awful, we won’t be back.

We ate here on 9th July my wife and I. The restaurant was very busy but the food was outstanding! They were ablev o cater for dairy, egg and gluten free diets. We enjoyed the food so much we have booked up again for August. Thank you for a lovely meal on a really busy night.

Went here for Father’s Day and it was excellent the food as always was amazing. The staff and service was also really good the only reason I’ve dropped a star is because they add the service charge to the bill. I would’ve left a tip any way, not £16 on a £100 pound meal though! I really don’t like restaurants adding service charges I like to decide what amount I want to leave.

Ordered calamari couldn’t eat it it was like rubber. Green Thai was tasting more like milk than a curry. My sons chilli chips were soggy! Very disappointed. I would not recommend this to anyone

You cannot fault this place. Constant quality, very fresh (very hard to find these days) My favourites are the beef salad, the moun and the lamb curry. The owner and hostess are always very lovely and welcoming. A true little local gem. We go at least twice a month.

Ordered GF fish curry and it was fabulous. It was marked two chilli spice level which was accurate - and just the right side of wow-this-is-spicy for me.

Having travelled extensively in Cambodia in 2022 we couldn’t believe how few Cambodian restaurants there are in the UK. This was a real find! Food was outstanding and reminded us of our travels. The host Mrs Sue was very welcoming and very accommodating. The food was freshly cooked and intervenes used were delicious. We will definitely be visiting again - wish we lived closer!

Had lunchtime meal today with my wife and daughter. Food is so tasty and very authentic (we lived in Asia for 18 years). Host is a charming and friendly guy. If I lived closer Id be there regularly.

Very expensive, and very average. We ordered a delivery of two starters and three meals yesterday (Aug 22) totalling £81 - a huge amount for a takeout. Whilst the currys were nice, the sticky rice had the consistency of cavity wall insulation, and we had to order chinese afterwards as we were still hungry after our meals. In a nutshell, ths food tastes nice but costs a fortune - there are plenty of better value options in Witney.

I’ve lived in SE Asia for nearly 30 years and find it hard to find authentic ASEAN cuisine in the UK. So credit where credit is due. Excellent- Fresh and absolutely yummy!
