Carpathian Speciality in North Tyneside

Great to 'bump' into this place after visiting a friend on the coast. The owner was incredibly hospitable and the space is good. This is traditional Carpathian street food and I had the sour cream, cheese and pickle option. I was not disappointed as I scoffed it on my way back to the metro. Try it, it's good.

OMG what a hidden little gem of a Cafè. The cuisine is Hungarian and I would highly recommend a visit. Just get off the metro at Whitley Bay and walk down toward the high street, opposite Lloyds bank. Will definitely be making a return trip.

Finally got around to visiting Carpathian Speciality on the weekend & enjoyed it. Me and my girlfriend had just been out for dinner so shared a banoffee dough cone as dessert. I've never had a dessert like it and it was very nice as well as unique. The menu is quite big and there's a few interesting options I'll be back to try soon. Got my eyes on the chimney cakes and langos breakfasts!

Everyone needs to go here and support this unique cafe. The chimney cake is fantastic and the menu choice is great. We are lucky to have this in whitley bay.

This place makes amazing food, everything they do comes made with hard work, dedication and a genuine love for food. Fresh made food prepared in the back cooked to order, very reasonable prices for a good portion. This place does amazing deserts, great coffee and the Lango's are absolutely amazing. Personal favourite is the Highwayman with pickles and jalapeños. Honestly guys, get down try it out you won't be disappointed!

My husband and i popped in for a coffee but couldn't resist trying one of their chimney cakes. It was so delicious and new flavours I hadn't tried before. The guy was friendly and attentive and the coffee was good too. I liked how you were served a glass of water with your coffee and the milk jug was adorable!! I wish the guy all the best and hope he succeeds as it's nice to have independent places in Whitley bay and not the usual big chains. I will definitely be visiting again soon.

The cakes here are different to anything around the area, which is really great. They are tasty and make a nice treat while out and about. We took two away to bring to a friend's house and they were a big hit with their kids.

I was so pleasantly surprised to find my favourite Chimney Cake in this part of the world!!! My daughter tried it for the first time and she can't wait to go again. Place is spotless, owners very nice and are doing their best to make you feel welcome.

We’ve been here a couple of times for chimney cakes and they really are amazing- something really different and so tasty- it’s a cross between a doughnut and a sweet type of bread- soft on the inside and crisp on the outside. Lovely rice pudding too. The kids really love the chimney cakes and cones (so do the adults!). The owners are really friendly and clearly passionate about the cuisine. We’re getting spoilt for choice in Whitley bay and carpathian specialty is a superb addition.

Visited on a recommendation and wasn't disappointed. Spotlessly clean and with first class service. A wide range of coffees and cakes all priced very reasonably. It's clear the owner takes a great deal of pride in his business. I have to recommend the Chimney cake - just don't ask for a calorie count.

Wow! If you like a sweet treat you have got to visit this place. Just a couple of minutes walk from the beach. If you haven't tried Chimney Cake from Hungary you really have to! You'll fall in love with it.

Spotlessly clean. Very friendly staff. Well priced. Nice range of coffees. But I suppose you might find that in other places? What you will not find anywhere else that I know of (this side of Bucharest) is langos (savoury sandwiches) and chimney cake (a sweet bead/ spiral doughnut with loads of sweet toppings, cream, rice pudding). Beautiful place. And one that I will be taking everyone I know to from now on. Another Whitley Bay gem!
