Carols Chippy in Sandwell

Over cooked. No taste. The appears was like if my fish chips looking at a pair of rolled up grandad socks. Shocking £10.10 ! No doing justice to Carol's good name.

Love this chippy, great service, great food. The only one thing that annoyed me was ordering 16 chicken wings, I didn't mind waiting for them to be cooked...... I was annoyed at the fact that they cooked it in dirty oil, the oil clearly needed changing, and that ruined the chicken coating. Having said that, this is one of my favourite chip shops. I also found the fish to be too oily. Maybe there is a way of draining the food or using a different oil, may be, I remember visiting one chippy where they get it perfect. I'm not sure how they do it, but it made a difference.

Had roe and chips and battered sausage and chips roe was ok but sausage was rock solid chips were terrible really dry couldn't eat them haven't been for years and after that won't go again binned

Gone down hill to they bald guy who kept saying dirty Harry and bogey boy F!!! You disgusting chips full of grease makes you feel sick don't get me started on the dirty kebab 😩😩🤮

Always our first port of call when thinking of a chippy! We've been coming to Carol's for years. Food's always good, prices are OK. Plenty on the menu to choose from.

The chips are old, stale and hard mixed with soggy hot chips. The fish is stale and soggy not fresh at all kebab is dry and old. Waste of money terrible food not the same as back in the day

Horrible an dry I have used this chippy loads before today was dry chippy shamed to even give out I also called loads a thins they didn’t even up up the calls after ringing 7times

Caroles is the best chippy in the area. Have tried Fish, Roe. Sausage, Kebab meat, Pitta Bread all have been cooked perfectly, lovely battered chips. Friendly polite staff.Excellent value for money.

Use this chippy often. Lovely fish, battered chips, kebab meat very good. Ordered on line, order arrived quickly and hot, always get correct food. Good size portions. Excellent chippy.

Tasty food but opening hours not accurate, so many times arrived once was closed.

Not so great last time we visited. Batter on the fish was so thick and not cooked all the way through so left a yukky paste on the fish itself

We have tried a lot of things on the menu ,and never had a problem, it always tastes lovely, tried the roast chicken and chips with Chinese curry sauce tonight , and it was delicious, there speed in delivery is just brilliant ,love the balty

We ordered delivery, it was here within 15 minutes. The chips came in a box, which presented better than a paper wrapper. The taste was gorgeous, I can honestly say that these are the best chips we have had. Crunchy, battered, not soggy. My partner does not like chip shop. This changed his mind!! 5 stars from us. Edit 11.8.21- still 5 stars, excellent customer service and food is amazing!!. Edit 19.9.21 I have to say as I have said previously that carols chippy is our favourite, the first time today we visited in person, the chicken balti is absolutely gorgeous, the staff there are fantastic, the food is 100% wouldn't go anywhere else. Thankyou xxx

Been using these for years, can't fault their food. Best battered chips around. Not expensive either, plenty of specials to choose from, good variety also from balti to kebabs. Friendly staff too. Deffo recommend 👌

Something seriously wrong. Friday 13th. My wife ordered in the shop medium fish and chips along with a pie and chips, in the pic below is what we unwrapped at home. Another trip to the Chippy, some young guy being the big guy dismissing it as a mistake, he changed the order to what was requested. Got home started eat, could not eat it, it tasted different, my wife and I had a very bad night's sleep and are both sick today. Something is wrong here. Will need to find another Chippy when we recover from this sickness

Donor kebab 🥙 on fresh naan I couldn't fault, meat cut nice and thick not cut with a razorblade like most kebab houses in the area with plenty of salad. The only let down was the chips, full of grease and with greasy orange batter on, couldn't eat them sad as they really let our meal down.

Hitting up Ikea for first time in over a year. Random-Ish Google Maps Chippy choice. The photos looked good so we went off in search of chip heaven after dissing Smashburger, which was expensive af. This wee chippy is just a few minutes from Ikea, round a few back streets then you’re there. It has a modern facade and interior with makeshift covid protection. A small fish and chips and a medium fish and chips with a scallop was £9. Bargain. Chips are battered. A shake of vinegar on the chips and my spidey senses were in overload. This was delicious. The fish was fresh and white. The batter was pretty crispy but just a bit thick for my tastes. Three gents working behind the range. It felt really old school. In a good way. The battered chips were so good. Really really light and crispy batter on them. The scallop was a massive let down. Was at least from either lunchtime or yesterday with sad old batter on it. It would have been heaven if it had been cooked fresh. You might luck in and get a fresh one. This would have been a 5* review if the scallop was fresh. All in a perfect wee visit. Credit to the community etc. Will likely return again.

Great food fair price big portions

Had fish and chips from this place, I did enjoy them, but they were very greasy, and I had a stomach ache later on. Also I think they are quite expensive for what you get, £4 for a smallish fish, and £2.25 for a small chips is just too much, you can get a lot more value for your money else where.

Just had a delightful meal from here chicken balti very very nice. kebabs very nice. The man behind the counter even gave my husband a small pot of curry and chicken to try. My husband enjoyed his to. Nice hidden little gem we will be coming back really enjoyed it. Thank-you

Tried it as Black Country Chippy Great Bridge is undergoing renovations at the moment. Fairly expensive for a mixed meat & chips for the size you get. However, the food was good,, batter was good on the chips and a good amount and will try it again. But nothing on Black Country Great Bridge for quality,taste & value for money.

The place has good quality food but it is very expensive. Customer service is not very good unfortunately the owners seem grumpy and unfriendly. They should work on their customer service, polite and service with a smile

Great value for money and the food is top quality. This is the first time I have found myself recommending a chippy to people.

Don't live local but relatives do and have been going Carol's for 35 years whenever over. Great fish but the chips are so good done in special batter. Highly recommend

Best chips in England, service and staff are amazing. Prices are reasonable. I had a mini fish, chips (battered ones) and curry sauce for £3.70 good size portion. No matter where I live in England, I will always drive to Carols for my chips 👍🏻

Kebab meat in pitta and 2 mixed meat in naans with chips ordered, must say one of the best kebabs we have had in a long time, will defo be going back soon

Went there on the 3rd of July as we wanted a large y tea. I asked for well done kebab meat. The owner said he would Cook it more for me. When I got home some was cooked well.i have had an upset stomach ever since and stomach cramps.i will not be going there again. This us not the first time it's happened. Absolutely disgusting. I used to love thus place. But since it's changed owners it's gone down hill.

Although Carol’s is no longer owned by Carol this is still a well above average fish and chip shop. The chips are cooked in batter and are really tasty and the kebabs are excellent. I have to agree with other comments though that the staff can occasionally come across as disinterested though never rude to me. There are loads of terrible fish and chip shops these days but Carol’s is still a cut above most. Well worth a try.

New owners bit greasy bring back Carol

I have been a customer here for at least 5 years, recent staff changes have shown a drop in service and quality. Used to always have to queue to get served, food was brilliant. Certainly not so good now. There was always plenty to a portion and good fresh food, recent changes have now seen a change in quality prices have risen and not so much for your money. Sorry will be going elsewhere.

Stopped by for mini fish and chips only £2.50 with curry sauce too. Great value and nice chips.

I used to use this Chippy quite Regularly and it was an Hidden Gem in My Opinion!, The Chips were always Lovely and the Staff quite Amiable & Amicable!, If it is still the same then it is well Worth a Visit!, Although Parking can be a Little Tricky if in a Vehicle!.

Really tasty chips, they seem to be crispy, and the fish was delicious.

Every time we go towards darlaston or wednesbury we always go to carols chippy guaranteed . This place as some lovely affordable chippy meals. I'll always have mixed meat and chips as the chicken meat and doner meat is always nice and juicy. Foods always fresh too and always leaves you full. Only problem is that the shop is always full but that's because foods always nice. Well done guys.

This Chip Shop claims it's an award winning establishment, which after extensive research I have found to be complete lies. they have faked positive reviews in the past, and also boast about fake awards they have won. Their food quality is "ok" at best, and certainly not worth the prices they charge. I had a delivery from them one time. they're in a reasonable distance (round 1 mile) and was charged £3.00 on top of the order for delivery, upon questioning the delivery driver he stated that I was outside their "2 mile zone", when I showed him clearly the distance on my phone using Google Maps, he left without taking the delivery charge. This to me seems like extortion and daylight robbery. I would advise going elsewhere, there are a LOT of better, higher quality establishments in Wednesbury, and avoid this one.

Sour faced staff ..entrance in a right mess ..food wasn't good struggled to find a whole chip ..!! Would avoid if I was you
