Such a busy and cosy little family run cafe. Mothers say breakfast was lovely with our family and grandchildren.

The homemade tiramisu is the best 👌 super light and very tasty. Pasta is awesome. Loved the overall experience.

This is a gem of a restaurant and we would highly recommend it. The food was excellent-it was the best Italian food we’ve had in a long time. Vincenzo the chef took excellent care of us-our son has a nut allergy and he was very mindful of this and made sure everything was okay for our son to eat. Thank you so much Vincenzo and the rest of the staff! We had a lovely evening:)

Two friends and I had a birthday lunch at Carmelo’s today! It was lovely to see it busy and this didn’t deter from the excellent food and service - a comprehensive menu and nothing too much trouble! Even a lovely birthday song accompanied the cake they kindly allowed us to bring in! Thank you guys xxx

Have to say got to be the best value for money breakfast in the area. Reasonably priced for great quality food and there are a good range of items to choose from. Coffee is decent. Doesn't seem to get too busy in the mornings.

Excellent restaurant with delicious food. Looked after us really well. Went with 4 kids and the staff were brilliant and the bunny pizzas went down a treat.

Extremely rude waitress. Will not go again. She refused to give us a 4 seater table for myself, my son and my friend. It wasn't reserved, she just presumed we could squeeze on a 2 seater table because she presumed my son wouldn't be having any lunch. We've been before and he always eats his own meal! Very disappointed.

Amazing home-cooked Italian food, great service! I travel to St Albans from the US several times a year and I always make sure to stop in to Carmelo's. The Bruschetta is amazing, the pizza is amazing, and all the dishes I've had there are also amazing!

So glad I was recommended to try here. Wonderful evening, great food, great atmosphere, great staff, very attentive and accommodating. It was like dining in a little bistro in Italy. Kitchen was spotless. This coming from 2 critical chefs says it all ! Will definitely be back . Thank you Carmelo's

Delicious food. Humorous staff with efficient service

Excellent pasta and pizza. Really excellent. Just as good as in Italy. And the house Montepulciano went down a treat. This is my 6th visit and I look forward to next time.

Waiter took our order. Where the only couple in there. We waited a good while for our good to arrive and when our main course arrived my vegetarian pasta had parmesan cheese on top which is not vegetarian. Waiter apologise d and said they always put parmesan on their pasta. I replied that's fine but Don't label the dish as vegetarian. Our starters that we ordered did not arrive. Waiter went back to order it but we said no as our main dishes were on the table already. While we ate the Waiter was talking to 2 ladies about how much he hates working in Carmellos. ( it showed ). He stated it was boring. The food was really nice especially the salad that was prepared to my request, hence the 2 stars. The Waiter did not apologise for not having brought our starters as he stated it was a printer error and he didn't know we did not get them. The Waiter took our order and was the only Waiter there. He blamed it on the kitchen staff saying that they should have brought it to us. I started he was the Waiter not them and it was him looking after the customer. He was too busy talking and complaining to the 2 ladies to bother checking on the customer. The Waiter took our payment without a thank you. On the wall there is a trip advisor sign stating the restaurant is good for vegetarians. Almost all the dishes labelled vegetarian has parmesan cheese listed as an ingredient. It's not a vegetarian alternative they use but one that contains animal rennet. I was told via an email that they only use real parmesan and no other option is available. So definitely not good for vegetarians. Food labeling in this restaurant is miss leading. We left and we were not happy at all.

Impromptu visit for lunch - my first time . Had the most delicious chicken salad . This is a lovely cafe which is friendly and family focused. Great menu and reasonably priced . Hidden gem!’

We had have a lovely pizza,absolutely delicious and chicken wings, what was good as well. Irina, the waitress who looked after us made an amazing cappuccino and smoothie, We had have great experience over there, looking forward to come back!

A little gem nestled in heart of London Colney. I have experienced both their lunch and weekend dining and both have been amazing. The food is delicious, always comes out hot and the portion sizes are good! Pizza is great! I truly hope you enjoy this restaurant just as much as I do!

Coffees are great but the food was definitely below your normal high. Sausages cut in half and looked anaemic. Bacon just cooked and what’s with the smallest slice of bread cut in 4. Nothing like you used to do or can do. Average at best, you can do so much better!!

Although it's become a cliché term, "hidden gem" describes this place perfectly. Down a side road off the main stretch of London Colney, this authentic Italian style café/restaurant does both day and night excellently. By day, the coffee is fantastic, cakes etc. varied, and light lunches delicious and well thought out. By night, the pizza is the main draw. It really is good pizza, and authentic too: thin, crispy bases, and generous fresh toppings. To top it off, the staff are amazing! Friendly, attentive, and highku accommodating. I live about 15 mins drive away and will happily make the trip just for a coffee in the morning. If you're in the local area there's really no excuse not to try out this place, and enjoy!

Myself and my daughter arranged a surprise birthday for my wife for 30 people, we had a GREAT night, despite the large group of friends all the meals came out together and everything was hot, and the food was superb with plenty of choice to suit everyone's requirements. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff, even the chef came out to sing happy birthday to my wife. Ample parking in the street and a large free car park behind the restaurant. Such a great restaurant for a family meal. The food is delicious and the service matches it. Nothing was too much trouble and the prices are extremely reasonable. We were staying in the area ahead of our trip to Harry Potter Studios. There is free parking outside. The restaurant is not big and has a very cosy feel. Would definitely visit again!

Had an excellent meal here yesterday, the veggie tagliatelle was very tasty and the pizza my son had was also very good. Very busy and crowded on a Friday evening but plenty of atmosphere. All the desserts were homemade too and looked yummy.

Quick, efficient service. Clean and safe. Very tasty food, served politely. Busy before 13.00hrs. Good place for a quick and Italian lunch.

Ordered a frappe and waited for it for ten minutes before being asked to order something else with no explanation. My boyfriend had ordered a beer but that hadn't arrived so he asked if he had time to change his selection to wine, which they agreed - the beer then arrived, shortly followed by the wine! Ordered our food but were then asked again 5 minutes later what our food order was, as they hadn't written it down! I had the eggs royale, which was fresh and the poached eggs well cooked, but the hollandaise sauce lacked any flavour. Partner was very happy with his pasta though so that's a positive! Might give it another go if we're in the area, but wouldn't go out of our way to go there.

I visited this place by chance while away on business and cannot get enough of this fabulous place. I will drive from our of town just to come back most definitely. Vincenzo the chef is a true Italian chef to the core. The food was simply beautiful. Elegant design of the dishes was wonderful. He was kind enough to make something for me off the menu. Lovely food at this restaurant yet again. Partner said homemade Tiramisu was amazing. Unfortunately, on this visit we had to ask for a jug of water 3 times, for spoons for our puddings, milk for our tea and twice for the bill. An off day on the service side?

Was in the area and googled italian nearby. Up popped Carmelo. To greet us was Vinnie (Vincenzo) and his team didn’t disappoint. Ordered via UberEats. My partner got the ‘soup’ which was not at all a soup but was in fact a tub of vegetables??? Which was supposed to come with a side salad which it did not. Also it was bland and was thrown in the bin after a few mouthfuls. I got the Quattro Formaggi which seemed to have good reviews on the menu but it was probably the worse pizza I’ve had in my life. It tasted like undercooked bread with dairylea spread over it. We both now have upset stomachs as well. So disappointed because we love an authentic Italian but this one missed the mark completely.

I had a pizza delivered earlier in the week from Carmelo's. It was the best pizza I've had in ages! The delivery was really quick, and the lady that came was brilliant and friendly. I'll definitely be ordering again! So much better value than any of the major chains (around about half the price for equivalent size), and nicer too. I'm guessing they only recently added themselves to Uber-Eats, this is where I found them.

Great find! Easy parking, plenty of seats. Really excellent breakfast, scrambled eggs on brown toast, tomatoes, Americano coffee, hot and delicious. Very reasonable cost for such good quality.
