Absolutely terrible guys! Wrong burgers delivered. It’s a Friday evening and you don’t pick up your phone to correct the problem! Useless

Quiet when I visited, as it was week day and bitterly cold. Delicious food, had lamb doner, chicken doner.

Owner has a rather questionable/ annoying/ unethical tendency to make push for/ upsell pricier items. Would have picked up on this if I had checked the reviews prior. This upselling tactic has affected me on two instances (as detailed below), hence I will no longer be returning to Carlos, and will be heading to Hungrill down the road instead, which is safer and serves food that is as good if not better (and more reasonably priced). Incident 1 Ordered a chicken doner, but owner pushed for a special of the day lamb item. I agreed without clarifying on the price (my fault, though one could also argue that in such instances, it’s only courtesy for the establishment owner to advise on the price differential upfront). The lamb item turned out to be a whopping 6 pounds more expensive than the doner I had wanted to order. Incident 2 Despite my wariness, revisited this place. Wanted to order a chicken doner and as somewhat expected, owner tried pushing for another (probably way more expensive) item. I held my ground this time and insisted on the doner. They eventually served me another chicken dish, which was about 2 pounds more expensive. Given the confidence and speed in which they served the item, and considering that I had repeated my order twice, it is quite hard to imagine that the owner had genuinely gotten the order wrong and instead served a dish that was - you guessed it - more expensive. Please consider the reviews and approach this establishment with caution.

The Original Cambridge BBQ place

Went for an evening meal with friends. The service was excellent - we were provided with Turkish tea for free, and constantly being waited on for anything needed. Good portion sizes for the food, and it was all great! Comfy enough inside.

the deliver man was 100% guarantee he was very helpful and he had his bright orange co-on so he was patients with me and I will give you a good review is because you are worth every people like him like the driver of just eat that's why I put three pound as tip he is worth more so next time hopefully he would order my thing he would be the next driver please keep I on my takes him of my delivery of my address I'd like him to deliver all the time if he can I'm very new to order in online on food

One of the best places in Cambridge, the owner is very friendly and lovely man, the food is amazing and the portions is always generous, great value for money. Definitely highly recommended.

I'm usually not inclined to leave reviews but this is an exception! As soon as I walked in the owner, Carlos, was extremely welcoming and prepared me a seat and brought a tea to drink whilst waiting for the food. I had the lamb shank which honestly was one of the best I've had and he even gave a free baklava at the end, which again was extremely good! Honestly one of the best places in Cambridge both for the food but also the hospitality from Carlos and I regret not having come here before today! Despite seeming very unassuming from the outside I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area!

Needs to explain what the salad is and the sauce I’m allergic and it was cold

Train delayed? About a mile from the station is this kebab shop / cafe. The owner, Carlos?, was polite and cheerful. The burger topped with kebab meat was made for me while I waited with my hot chocolate. Well worth a visit.

Carlos' doner kebab and desserts are amazing. Carlos' humanity is also number 10. It is a must-visit place for those who happen to be in Cambridge.

Loved the food. One of the best halal foods in Cambridge. Truly delightful and delicious 😋. Perfect quantity and quality.

Carlos always welcomes us warmly when we arrive . The food he prepares is of a very high standard and today's lamb shank, served on a bed of rice, with a large fresh salad, tart and with hints of lemon juice and possibly cider vinegar, and warm pitta and humus, drizzled in olive oil, was the best ive had yet. The lamb was so mouth wateringly soft and moist, it virtually fell off the bone. This was served with strong Turkish tea, and finished off with baklava. My friend had the chicken special which was just as good by his estimation. In my opinion Carlos makes the absolute best Turkish food in Cambridge. And he is so welcoming, he always greets his customers like old friends. I recommend him, and his food, most highly.

A few weeks ago I can and got me some lamb donner and when I say it was the best tasting dinner I mean it the boss man had given me free baklava I enjoyed everything top notch I recommend.

Never ever order from here they always ignore the order notes ask for garlic and lamb done no salad no chilli they were filled with them!

First time having lunch here. The portion of the dish of lamb doner with rice was huge, and it was tasty and hot 😋👍 The owner was very nice, he gave me a cup of hot tea and a piece of turkish delight for free😊 Definitely recommend

Brilliant halal food and service. My only complaint would be that carlos doesn’t always give you what you order 😆. Feels like I’m being fed by my own family members at times. If I order a wrap on its own he’s like ‘No no you need to eat more’ (if he does make me something more expensive that I didn’t order he’ll knock a couple £ off the price, and sometimes give me a free piece of dessert to compensate). He is a great guy (other reviews would back this) and the prices are justified by big portion sizes. Rice was a bit bland, pitta wasn’t great either but the bulgur and salad were both nice. Meat is excellent (most important thing) and so are the sauces. Desserts are great. You’re given tea while you wait as well. Food comes very very quickly. Highly recommend 👍

Hi, I have had the chicken Doner kebab at Carlos bbq tonight and I can say I was not ready to taste something that good. It was great and delicious. The hospitality and service was very nice and I will definitely return again to try more things on the menu. I recommend it !!!!!

Arrived mushed and soggy not exactly a word class meal

Definitely the best kebabs in Cambridge. I have been enjoying them for 12 years and am finally getting around to leaving a review. Do be very clear about your order because they can get mixed up, but the kebabs never disappoint. The lamb shish is a particular favourite, good quality and cooked just right.

First time visiting this restaurant with a friend and it didn't disappoint at all. The food there was absolutely delicious and the owner makes everyone feel welcomed, I highly recommend this place for anyone who loves middle eastern or central asian food!!

This was the worst meal i have ever had from anywhere in Cambridge over 40yrs, kebab meat was probably cooked hours ago & for insult they thew in a few potatoes wedges to make it look like meat . Take my advice, don't waste good money with them.

Me and a friend went there for the first time and honestly it was such a lovely and happy environment. The owner was very happy welcoming us in. The food came quickly and was very yummy. I can’t recommend it enough and will be coming here again.

Ordered from here last night. Had a Sheesh kebab, the chicken was super dry and tasteless, the chips were cold, the salad wasn't fresh and soaking wet. Overall gutted as it cost me £20! Won't be ordering from here again.

Must try if you need a place for hot food and friendly service for kids and elderly. Lamb with rice is fantasticly soft. Potato and pepper in the dish is well fried. Lovely BBQ Chicken skew is a good choice for members not eating lamb . Don't forget the dessert pistachio pastry, essence of the whole meal.

Generous portions of food, and a relaxing atmosphere. Amidst it all, owner Carlos is the life and soul of this place. Highly recommended.

Best dinner kebab I’ve ever had. Absolutely perfect. And huge portion (couldn’t finish).

Awful experience (read to know why): Hard to know where to start. I avoid looking at what happened with bad intention, but now looking back, it's hard not to do so. - General: The guy is so random and ignorant of how he treats the customers. - Food: for £15.9, you should expect a good meal. A big portion of carbohydrates (bread + rice). Meat was chewy and tasteless. Rice was cold, tasteless, and hard. - Receipt issue: I wanted a VAT copy. I paid using a card. He couldn't give me a VAT copy for an unclear reason. - Transparency issue: He did not communicate clearly and most of the time discussed the issue with his friends in their language. - Extra charge: He asked me to pay about £1.7 extra to get a VAT copy. Again, it was not clear why although I asked why, and he kept talking with his friends and telling them, 'I pay my taxes.'. - Was it a scam?: To fix the issue, he suggested to pay in cash, and he will refund the money. I did not have the cash, so he asked me to go bring cash!!! I just wanted to sort the issue, not enter an argument. So I was annoyed but brought the cash. He claimed that he refunded the money, which might take 48 hours to show on my bank account. Now, after more than 48 hours, the refund has not arrived yet. - Customer service: no one answered the phone number as I was aiming to fix the problem before writing this review. This is my experience, it might not apply to other customers. I am not interested in what this person's motive is. But please be aware, be careful, and argue if any of these happened to you. Enjoy your trip to Cambridge, its amazing city <3.

**Delivery Review: Disappointing Experience** I recently ordered a chicken kebab and chips, and I regret to say the experience was far from satisfactory. Despite the delivery being remarkably quick, the food arrived cold, which was unexpected given the speed. The quality of the food was disappointing. The chips included a mix of straight fries and curly fries, with small, greasy bits that seemed old. (I did not order curly fries) Everything was thrown together in a large aluminum tub, including the salad. The yogurt sauce mixed with everything else, turning the meal into a damp, unappetizing mess. Having been a loyal customer for years, it's disheartening to see such a decline in standards. The food used to be consistently good, but that no longer seems to be the case. The current quality is not something I believe Carlos would have allowed. I was reluctant to leave this review, but after paying for such poor quality, I felt it necessary. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and that improvements are made. Customers deserve consistency, regardless of circumstances. It felt like the food was prepared without care or effort. Please address these issues, as it's not fair to take customers' money and provide such subpar food. Thank you.

Wow ! amazing food, portion size, value for money and kindness. Carlos is so loved by so many people. He looked after my dear friend Vera for years in this cafe. Feeding her up. He treated her with so much love and kindness., it was always her favourite place to go. After her many strokes, when she could no longer speak she would try so hard when I showed her a kind message from Carlos. A lovely man, that puts love and kindness into the food he cooks for you. You are literally eating kindness. We love you Carlos. Best place to eat.

En casa abro los platos y lo que vi fue arroz, solo arroz con un poco de carne. El cojo estaba demasiado sazonado y no comía y el pollo estaba seco como el infierno. Si te gusta comer arroz puedes ir a Carlos! ¡¡No vale el dinero!

Hands down the best Turkish spot in Cambridge. Carlos is determined to provide an amazing and speedy service going above and beyond. Food was soo delicious I had to go back twice in one week. He kindly gave me Turkish tea as I waited and added some baklava to my order. Carlos never forgets a face or an order so I would 100% recommend👏🏽

Amazingly friendly staff, every occasion we’ve been we’ve been offered a cup of tea or free samosas while we wait for our food. Classic selection of kebabs, wraps, plus an impressive selection of baklava, deserts and always a few specials on. Could not recommend enough- quick service, tasty food and we both ate very well for under £25. Carlos, you’re the man.

Carlos is on a mission to provide good quality affordable food in a welcoming atmosphere. The meat is better quality than other places that buy the cheapest they can get. The salad is always has different ingredients because he only buys the best quality on the day. The pastries are home-made. The portions are generous. Mission accomplished.

Hummus was great. Fresh bread was great. The lamb kofta was epic (i was totally surprised about how good that was. I'd return just for that - juicy and full of flavour wow), the lamb shish was tasty as was the chicken shish tasty too. The chicken shawerma was not the best, his fried chicken wings were surprisingly good and chips were good. The Cacik was delicious. The atmosphere is old school turkish cafe vibe. The kinda place you help yourself to your own drinks. Carlos himself is friendly, welcoming and hard working. The prices are reasonable. We paid £35 total for everything - mixed grill and 3 drinks. Easily enough food for 3 people. Don't be shy to go in. They are welcoming and it's worth it - especially that lamb kofte... honest food, honest prices, generous portions

Brill. Good atmosphere, quickly seated and served, beautiful lamb ribs with bread and salad and humus. Wonderful and walked away home and slept well. Would come back.

Tasty food with very good price and value. The mixed grill is more than enough for two people. Bossman Carlos is super nice and he also gave us free dessert after the meat feast. Will definitely come back again next time when we are in the city.

The restaurant is easy to find, Mr. Carlos is also super friendly. But it seems like I'm getting price gouged here. I was persuaded to order a fish side dish which was not on the list, I also added snack cakes. I didn't know it was so expensive. Ha ha ha. It doesn't feel like it's really special. What is clear, it makes you full. I'm still curious about coming here. But next time, order what is already listed on the menu complete with prices.

f you are looking for the best value meal in Cambridge, go to Carlos. Food is fresh. yummy, balanced, abundant and much more... Barbecued meat is delicious but there are also slow cooked specialities and many vegetarian options. Not mentioning the mouth watering desserts. The atmosphere is Mediterranean-Middle- Eastern-Mill Road, decidedly friendly with a touch of joyful madness. And they are one of the very few restaurants to stay open late in Cambridge. If you try it once, you will come again!

Ordinarily don't leave reviews - but what a place. I ordered, and after 10 minutes the chef said he didn't see me - and was so open and honest about it - and offered to give me the food for free. Despite me stating happy to pay for honesty, he insisted. Been eating here for 19 years - a great touch.

The lamb doner, you can’t miss the hot sauce, it’s very delicious, the best lamb doner I’ve ever had. Great with rice/fries. There's more salad and it's healthier when paired with fries. Serve with rice for a more filling meal and less with a salad. Dessert was Bakklava, a bit sweet for Chinese people, but acceptable. The skin is crispy and the inside is filled with green, which looks like mung bean paste (I guess). The boss also gave us 2 cups of Turkish black tea, which smelled like British and German black tea. It was a bit hot in the sun when I came in the afternoon and I was sweating while sitting, so I recommend coming later. But there are many people at night, so you may have to wait for a table.

They serve you what they want and charge what they want. The food is not very good, my falafels were hard. The only thing that stood out is that it is a family atmosphere and that is nice

Ordered a yogurtlu kebab, a kofte with some sauces on it. I was given a cold, clammy lamb doner with some sauce on it. The lad rudely tried to explain to me that this is how it traditionally is - even though I came here in the past, ordered the same thing and got served the correct dish - either this man doesn’t know anything about Turkish food, or he’s trying to scam his customers. He also went on to act confused when I asked for my fries, saying this dish doesn’t come with fries. Even though it says all kebabs come with fries.

Carlos service is so friendly and kind. We always have a wonderful experience eating there. Take-away is really excellent! 👌🏽 Would highly recommend. Great value for money! 💕
