Very expensive for poor quality food, food probably cooked by a 3rd rate agency 'cook', not a chef. Six of us sat for dinner on Friday 8th Nov, scallops poor, medium steak overcooked and watery. Sea bass well over cooked, I cook sea bass a lot, so I do know what I am talking about. Two of us thought we recognised the £48 bottle of wine we had, its £12.99 from Majestic Wine. For £90 a head we would expect better. Next time a good honest pub.

Visited the Ivy for a celebratory lunch with my son. We had to wait for our table to be ready, which was not a problem, and had a drink at the bar, we were then shown to our table. We ordered our food, 2 main courses, an Ivy burger and tuna loin. The waiter returned after we had placed our order to enquire how I would like the tuna cooked, I opted for pink. The food took a very long time to arrive at the table, we were waiting for more that 45 minutes. The food was only just warm, I suspect it was sat on the pass for sometime before being delivered to the table. The tuna which I expected to be pink inside was very well done, but tasty enough. Because it was a celebration I did not want to make any complaint regarding the food and the quite frankly disappointing level of service. I have always enjoyed visiting the Ivy because of the usually high level of service and attention to detail, this was sadly lacking on this occasion.

Friends birthday meal. There were 7 of us booked in for lunch on a Saturday. Seated straight away. Our waiter was very attentive. Our order was taken and food came quite quickly. We mentioned to our waiter it was a birthday meal and absolutely nothing was made of it which was a little disappointing. It was supposed to be a treat but felt very rushed.

My wife and I were given a voucher by our family for a very generous amount to have lunch here to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Having looked beforehand at the menu, I was happy to eat from the a la carte menu, but we were told our voucher entitled us to have the champagne lunch. There was no price on the menu but our voucher was worth £150. Not a measly sum and a lot more than I would expect to pay for lunch. The crispy duck salad was lovely and well presented. The Peruvian chicken was tangy with heat but the chicken was quite thin. The sticky toffee pudding was nice with a nice dollop of clotted cream on top. Nicely presented. Add 2 glasses of average house white wine, a bottle of water, 2 coffees and the 12.5% gratuity and we still had to add more than £40 to cover the bill. None of the dishes blew me away and I have had better for less elsewhere. Next time I will try the £19.17 two course lunch.

The food at the Ivy is always beautiful. Never had a bad meal here and always a good selection for most dietary requirements. The service was good to start with but had slipped by the end of our meal. This was OK but not nice to feel slightly forgotten about. The atmosphere was nice but it got very noisey very quickly and wanting a long leisurely lunch was challenging when it was difficult to hear eachother.

I've been to several Ivy Brasserie sites, so expetations were high. We had lovely birthday celebration meal in Cambridge and we were not disappointed. Service was friendly and 'on point'. We never had to wait for attention at any part of our meal. Even though it was midafternoon, when I would expect it to be quiet, there were still several tables in and helped the place have a nice atmosphere. The birthday profiterole for the birthday lady was perfect and a lovely touch. I would happily go back

The worst experience I’ve had in a restaurant for a long time. 1) had to ask 3 times for a wine list. 2) when wine was eventually ordered the main course came before the wine 3) one drink didn’t even arrive. When questioned after 15 minutes where it was the waitress said “it should come” 4) both the steak and the pasta starter had zero seasoning, bland. Dreadful experience, the food was absolutely dreadful apart from the scallop starter.

On a rainy Saturday lunchtime 7 of us arrived, without a reservation and asked about availability. The reception staff and door manager immediately made us feel very welcome and offered us a table. We were all impressed with the marvellous decor and surroundings. Once we were seated, server, Marvin (excellent by the way) offered us some water with the menus. We soon made our choices from the brunch menu and we were served with the food in about 10 minutes. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Upon discovering that 2 of our party had had birthdays within the past week, Marvin bought us a giant profiterole and candle for each celebrant. Very thoughtful and much appreciated. Along with the beautiful decor the ambience was very pleasant as well. Even the washrooms are Instagramable, especially the ladies apparently... A thoroughly delightful way to open our day exploring Cambridge. Many thanks to all who made the visit so enjoyable

I have been to Cambridge Ivy a number of times now and each time the food and service has been impeccable. Today however was even more special as I brought in my sister who is turning 12 this week. I mentioned this when booking and the staff brought out an extra something which made her feel special. A wonderful waiter also gave us some extra time when she asked how to fold the napkins 😅 thank you again, we will undoubtedly be back soon!

We had our lunch here after trying out Ivy in London, interiors were just amazing, beautifully done & I also loved the blazer/ uniform that staff was adorning, they can actually sell that as Ivy merchandise. We were made welcomed right from reception , since we had no prior bookings, it was a spontaneous decision to have lunch here but staff didn’t turn us down upfront despite being bysy (it was like a quick visit to our son at uni & we were kind of settling our emotions, since he started uni just a day before) We had ordered Truffle tagliolini, truffle arancini rice balls ( always love these), zucchini fritti ( least marks for this) and in vegetarian we didn’t have much choice so we ordered Rendang plant based curry with rice ( decent ) In desserts we had ordered celebration chocolate bomb ( one of my favourites in Ivy) , which they beautifully presented and it had very flavour of passion fruit too. Coffee was quite nice. Staff was very cordial, we were been served by Marvin I would recommend Ivy for ambience and service, in food they can introduce some more choice for vegetarian which doesn’t have fake meat.

Our brunch at The Ivy Cambridge Brasserie was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we walked in, we were captivated by the elegant and exquisite décor, as it was a perfect blend of modern chic and classic charm. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect setting for a relaxing brunch. The food was absolutely divine! Each dish was a masterpiece, bursting with flavor and presented with such care. From the fresh, perfectly cooked eggs to the decadent pastries, every bite was a delight. The menu offered a wonderful variety, and the attention to detail in every dish was truly impressive. The ambience was equally exceptionally calm, refined, and full of understated luxury. Whether it was the natural light pouring in or the stylish touches throughout, the setting enhanced the entire experience. I came from Brazil with great expectations to discover good restaurants in Cambridge. However, at The Ivy we received poor service at the beginning. We ordered the Steak tartare with toast, and they didn't bring any plates or cutlery. The food took more than 40 minutes, and it even came with raw chicken (truffle Chicken Milanese). They changed the chicken, but the other one was burnt and was still raw. The manager (very attentive) gave us a good discount, but the experience of poor service will be remembered.

I’ve only visited once and that was for an Alice & Wonderland themed Afternoon Tea on a Saturday afternoon in November. It was brilliant! I loved that our coats were taken on arrival. I was shocked at how noisy the restaurant was! Tables are fairly close together. Our afternoon tea was absolutely lovely, although I’d have liked additional savoury options, it was mainly sweets. A really beautiful venue, I’ve included photos. The service wasn’t the best, the waiter kept trying to take our afternoon tea stand away, when we were still eating. He moved our cupcakes, without asking! Great price, £30ish each. I couldn’t finish mine, so was given a box to take the remainder home. Which stayed fresh for the following day. All in all, a beautiful but busy restaurant. I’ll be returning at some point.

Very nice ambience. We had set meal with a bottle of Montepulciano : the Calamari starters was delicious. The linguine and the Shepherds pie was so so. The Expresso crème brûlée is great. The reception staff and the service by waiter Marvin was excellent. I observe other staff dropping bits of food as it was being delivered, etc. Obviously I cannot compare service in The Ivy with fine dining restaurants. The venue could benefit from better service led by an experienced maitre d who can lead and organised a more responsive service by the staff. After all they add a higher service charge than other restaurants.

1. We arrived early for our 1830 reservation and the other couple were due shortly after us. We were informed that the table was available but, if we went and sat at the table to await the other couple, the 2 hour table clock would be activated such that sitting at 18:13 would mean the table must be vacated by 20:13. We had no idea there even was a table click and the resetting of the clock was irrational as the table could not be otherwise used in the 15 minutes. They would not budge. Unpleasant! 2. Upon all sitting at 18:30 we were ‘hurried’ repeatedly by three staff both for initial ordering and then their clearing of the table while some were not finished. Disruptive, unprofessional and rude! 3. There were issues with some dishes that were pointed out to staff without an apology or mitigation. Example being the duck curry that was full of gristle and same shown to waitress. Poor and unacceptable! 4. Drinks orders were accepted only to find out they could not be fulfilled. Example a pint of Diet Coke was replaced with the smallest glass bottle one could imagine. Unprofessional and wrong!

Went for breakfast today, excellent food as always but left feeling cheated somewhat. The waiter asked if we'd like some water for the table,no mention of price/cost etc or any different water options still/sparkling/tap etc, then when the bill came we find we've been charged £5.50 for a bottle of water. Now as we'd had some of the water we have to pay fair enough but in my opinion this is an underhand shady business practice and will certainly put us off from returning.

An unfortunate experience… having hosted a fantastic Hen dinner at the Brighton venue, we had high hopes for another small Hen party in Cambridge but were left feeling underwhelmed and disappointed. Four of us visited for dinner/ cocktails which was pre- booked. The restaurant was busy, but we were seated directly outside the restrooms, which meant we couldn’t hear one another speak and felt somewhat rushed, it was like having dinner in the airport. The Bride ordered a steak to be cooked medium-well, which when it arrived was not only without its accompanying sides/ sauce, but was so rare that I’m surprised it wasn’t still moo-ing. By the time its replacement (thankfully looking a little less raw) had arrived, the other hens had almost finished their now-cool meals. The steak was very fatty, and the Bride eventually gave up trying to eat it. The waiter kindly removed the steak from the bill, which was appreciated, but the whole experience was just so disappointing to have her sitting there waiting and made to feel awkward and uncomfortable. On a positive note- the allergen menu was, whilst limited, informative and the staff were able to advise on and safely cater for allergies.

Had a wonderful lunch, great food, and a buzzing atmosphere which was really nice but didn't help our server, we asked for a bottle of wine and 2 glasses but she only bought 2 glasses, when asked where the bottle was we were then supplied a fresh bottle but found when the bill came also charged for said bottle. As it was an Anniversary treat, my wife had always wanted to come to The Ivy, I wasn't about to cause a fuss when it came to payment, and there is my next issue, the service charge for a table of 2, what is this culture about, over £20 service charge for 2 people is just disgusting, it's not for me to pay your staff wages that's the Employers responsibility, I come for an enjoyable meal which I didn't want to spoil by arguing over the bill at the end. Don't get me wrong the food and experience really was lovely but I do feel there was just over £40 added to my bill, half because our server didn't listen (not really my problem) and the rest was service charge, I know lots of you reading this will say I should have challenged the bill but this was a special day out spoiling my wife on our Anniversary, there is a time and place. She felt special and thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the trifle was something else.

Pleasantly surprised at how good this was all round. My hesitation was more to do with service, in particular relating to catering for coeliac. Overall food and friendly service was excellent. We visited on 10 August, having booked two months in advance. I was the first to arrive and the receptionist was very insistent that my companion should not be too far behind me, as they were “very busy”. Service was good and friendly; the food was good. We only had a main course and a cup of tea to follow. However, no sooner had we eaten the main course than we were provided with the bill along with the tea. We were then moved from our table to the bar, as they wanted the table back - less than an hour after we had sat down! It felt like being on a conveyor belt. I had travelled all the way from Kent for this! I felt very hurried, which really spoilt an otherwise good experience.

I’ve been before, overpriced, slow but a lovely atmosphere. I wanted to take my daughter for her 18th. She’s on a very restrictive diet beyond usual “Top14” allergens but simple adjustments would have made it possible. I emailed three times- one response “it will be fine, tell chef on the day”. Er no, we’ve yet to find anywhere with the necessary dairy, wheat, gluten, egg, soya, tomato & garlic free options without prior notice. No response to my reply asking if I could speak to someone, called the restaurant who promised the chef would call me. He/she didn’t. So we didn’t go! Meanwhile Pizza Express made a fantastic pizza she could eat and looked after us very well. Impressive for an Italian restaurant given her restrictions! Edited to add the head chef contacted me, and we arranged to visit today. Despite a phone conversation with the head chef and a bespoke menu agreed beforehand, on arrival the the waiter had no knowledge of this. Two trips to the kitchen later a basic meal of fish and roast potatoes was agreed, but the potatoes were not cooked. The other three meals were very poor indeed, no goats cheese on the salad and a stringy, cold plant burger. Chicken salad was mostly mayo. £129 for an incredibly poor meal, slow service and zero communication.

Our waiter was so present that we felt very disturbed by him constantly asking if we and the food were okay. It felt very intrusive. Our wine glasses were refilled before we were ready, as if staff are told to keep topping up glasses to encourage us to buy a second bottle. I wasn’t asked if I’d like my glass refilled, it just got refilled which is rude, especially when the house wine is £32 for a very ordinary Pinot Grigio blush. The over attentiveness ruined an otherwise okay experience. We were all in agreement about this so we won’t be coming back. We much preferred Bill’s.

Beautifull restaurant in an ideal location for tourists. Friendly and professional staff. Unfortunately, that is where the quality ends. It was a busy day at the peak of tourist season and we came in as walk-ins which they accommodated graciously and seated us. Service and refills for water were a little bit on the slow side and inconsistent with others seated after us. We ordered the Crispy chicken bang bang salad with cucumber, peanuts, sesame and chilli as an appetizer. The chicken was dehydrated to the point of being jerkey. The rest of the salad was delicious though. The main we ordered as part of the two course was the Chargrilled, thinly-beaten, grass-fed rump steak, with a fried free-range hen’s egg and thick cut chips. The chips were delicious but the steak was overcooked, tough, and absolutely the most bland tasteless piece of meat I've had in a very long time. I couldn't eat it and mentioned this to our server. He kindly removed the steak from our final bill. Overall, we were impressed with the location and building but were not impressed with the food quality.

Table too small for 11 people. Very poor selection of food. Food not hot. Very expensive. Disabled facilities not displayed. Long walk up and downstairs to washroom.

A bit pricey, but overall a cool experience! I love the way the restaurant is decorated; the paintings, tiles, and ceiling murals make an absolutely wonderful vibe. I ordered the Shepherd’s Pie, which was one of the best I've ever had. The gravy was the perfect compliment to the lamb and potatoes. I do wish the portion was a little bigger, especially for the price, but it was so good I would still order it again! Definitely recommend booking a table ahead of time, it seems as though they fill up pretty quickly especially around 6-7pm.

Wonderful service and delicious food. Waitress service was first class and the restaurant atmosphere was busy but friendly

Really rather poor. Slow and unengaged service. Breakfast quality was underwhelming. Bacon was cold and tasteless, the sausage was floppy it was so barely cooked and the toast was stone cold. And it cost a whopping £16.95. And we both felt a bit ill afterwards. Very disappointing and we will never go again. Our local cafe does a much better job, and with a smile.

Very posh but surprisingly okay prices, especially for the lunch menu. Creative food and presentation. Atmosphere is exquisite and toilets very clean and fresh. Service is polite and considerate.

Perfect, great menu, great food and great value. Tables are little too close but it didn't deter from the enjoyment of the visit. Didn't seem too busy but service was slow. It took 15 minutes for our first drink to arrive after ordering. Service was good enough but certainly not to level expected. It was a little irritating to hear the waitress kicking her shoes along as if they were too big and she was having difficulty keeping them on. She didn’t seem to be aware she was doing it . Good non alcoholic beer and good wine choice

One word comes to mind: excellent! Atmosphere/experience: From walking through the door I was welcomed with 2 lovely smiles from the hosts and shown to a beautiful table on a banquette, with water already on the table(2 guests already sat). Drinks service was prompt and efficient. Food: my sister opted for the £19.17 menu which (granted) didn’t seem to appealing on reading but upon delivery was well presented, fresh and VALUE FOR MONEY! I had the sirloin steak which was tender, perfectly cooked and well seasoned and my mum opted for the BEAUTIFUL watermelon and heritage tomato salad. Fresh flavours and a mesmerising presentation. Last but not least the centre court bombe to finish… drama meets a well balanced dessert. Service: Attentive but never interrupting or in your face. I appreciate the constant attention to detail: never an empty glass in front of me, always water available on the table, accurate & symmetrical cutlery lay. And for that I can’t highlight Maruf but our main server Andrea enough. A well oiled machine. Lunch service ran like clockwork from start to finish! Thanks team for a memorable lunch in a beautiful day!

Food seems to be more patchy than previously. But the £19.14 menu is good value. Service is exceptional. Really exceptional. Delicious cocktails too!

Tasty lunch at the Ivy in Cambridge. Great sirloin steak with mashed potatoes (gluten free) and the Ivy burger with truffle and Parmesan chips. Slight mix up with the chips initially but quickly fixed and very tasty. Can recommend the Lisboa red 🍷

Only good thing abt this place is the pink toilets. Foam on scallops was like dolphine j1zz. Sirloin steak was inedible, tasted sour and like a wax melt. Créme brulée was in a silly silly shallow pan n tasted like can custard. Waitress was perfect though; all the wait staff looked put together n were lovely. My waitress was so polite, so kind, and so much more engaging than my date.

We had a very disappointing experience. The service was unfriendly and I Unsmiley apart from the front reception who were lovely. We were very polite and friendly but our waiter was cold and unhelpful. The food was appalling and we both had bad tummies afterwards. The squid starter had clearly been frozen and the burgers were overdone and had been sitting waiting for us to finish our starters. No impressed with The Ivy!

Afternoon tea is very expensive and of a uniformly poor quality. There seems to be no understanding of what might be good- terrible cakes, huge ungainly sandwiches, warm factory made scones. Everything very, very sweet. Lots of staff doing their best rather inefficiently

Visited here with friends on Saturday evening. Ordered mains and starter, though the starters ere forgotten about, our mains were brought out and at that point had to remind where are the starters? Halloumi was feeling nice though and bread and salad brought out. We were rushed to finish our starter with plates taken away as soon as we each finished, and asked before one us finished are we ready now for msin course. Main came out I had the chicken beating asked for chips but hot rice, they brought out chips on asking. Again we were rushed to finish despite restaurant only being half full. They tried to take my friends plate although he hadn't finished it. The mixed grill he had was nice though with the description and price £20 would have expected more meat. Overall food was good, but so cheeky to add the service charge onto the bill. Especially given service was so poor. I would have contested it but my friend didn't want a scene. Shame really as if it was not for that would go back.
