The Ivy Cambridge Brasserie in Cambridge

The shepherd’s pie was great, but the portion size was a bit small for me. So, I’m glad I ordered a starter. I don’t remember what it was called, but it was excellent.

My joint favourite restaurant alongside the BH@ Ireland Beds Had a fabulous lunch on Saturday with friends .buzzing atmosphre and great food/wine and cocktails .

Our waitress was friendly, although much too keen and quick to rush us. Which spoilt our experience a little. Please don't do this to customers. Instead, give diners ample time to enjoy their dining experience.

Came here for birthday party. Staff were lovely and welcoming. 10/10 ,highly recommend. Thank you guys for a great experience

After a busy shopping trip, we went to the Ivy for a late lunch. Restaurant was really busy, but the staff offered us a table by the bar until a restaurant table became available. They said about 15 mins, but it was more like 5. Service, food, and atmosphere were great. Highly recommend

Made a reservation but got the wrong date. Restaurant very understanding and they helped find us a table. Food is in my opinion underwhelming. Very nice but nothing special and it's a bit on the pricey side. Nice for a treat while away though

Fantastic service and a great family dinner.

Myself and my boyfriend both got food poisoning from the food here. When I contacted the restaurant about it, they refused to take accountability. The 'safety advisor' emailed me back detailing that there were '49 portions of Cheese Souffle, 48 portions of Chicken Milanese, 18 portions of Chicken Skewer' served that day and had 'no other complaints'. It only takes one portion to be contaminated! She also mentioned how 'regular food hygiene audits are carried out by an independent company and the local authority for which we have a 5 rated food hygiene score'. This was a lie as I found that there had not been an audit done since September 2022. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

lovely early Saturday evening meal. Great food for sure. We thought there was a springtime menu but only offered main menu...lovely but expensive.Great service. Only negative is that in some areas when its busy the tables are quite close.

The Ivy has the most amazing food I have ever seen! From the chocolate bomb to the sushi every food that is presented will flabagast you! There is a variety of foods and drink, and an available room to book for celebrations. Overall I definitely recommend this for anyone!

Nice restaurant aesthetic, but quite noisy. Could do with more soft furnishings to absorb the sound. I wouldn’t rush back. The service wasn’t that great, felt like we were being rushed from the moment we sat down to the end where we were handed dessert menus, without asking, or saying anything. Food was very average. Nothing special, all a bit bland. Prices very questionable. The ‘optional’ service charge for a table of two was quite high, would have prefer to choose the tip option than being forced into it.

Good food, let down by poor service. Arrived a few minutes early so was asked to wait by the bar while our table was being prepared (fine); however with empty tables unused it became clear this was a ruse to nudge customers to buy drinks (also as we were asked about drinks four times while waiting). By this point, our table was late. Less effort required on plugging the extras, and more on the basics sadly

Really love The Ivy for great service and very nice food. Was only disappointed once and that was last Saturday with the fish and chips, wasn’t as good as it usually is but won’t deter us from going again. There is only one hand dryer in the ladies toilet and with a few ladies there that night was a bit of a wait, would be good to have an extra dryer.

What a truly stunning venue the food was incredible the staff very attentive This is how a restaurant should be like. I really couldn't recommend it higher. One of the very best restaurants me and my wife have ever been too. Thank you for making my wife's birthday an unforgettable experience

We were welcomed to the bar as we were early for our booking. The bar staff were on point, and our drinks, although pricey, were served beautifully. The food was amazing, literally some of the best tasting food I've had in a while. However, the service was somewhat slow, timid, and elusive. Our waiter was clearly not at all confident, but he was polite. Other than that, it would have definitely been 5 stars!

Food was good and the atmosphere was good, but everything went horribly wrong when I was charged twice for my bill as I was told at the time that the machine timed out and it did not go through. This was not correct. Went back an hour later when I realized, and they said it looked like I was charged twice but it would take a while to sort and they’d call me. They called me a few hours later and said they needed to wait until the following day to make sure on their end…you see where this is going. It’s been a week and multiple phone calls later and nothing sorted. Absolutely appalling experience. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone and I’m at a loss as to how they get away with this!

Friendly staff including waters/waitresses. Big cheers for the kitchen staff including head chef for the mouthwatering food which is yummy. Great management! Highly recommended restaurant for birthday celebrations! My daughter had an amazing birthday treat. Thank you.

Really enjoyed the food today at Ivy, Cambridge, however felt that the service was variable. We were seated just opposite the bar as it was busy, so maybe didn't get the whole Ivy experience. The food however was delightful and was very much worth it.

I would recommend The Ivy, the service was faultless and they were accommodating to us having a pram and wheelchair to contend with. The food was delicious, the portions are small so be prepared for that. I think they warrant being slightly bigger, then I would of given 5 stars... We had the Shepherds Pie which was delicious, you have to order sides to go with this as it doesn't come with anything. One of us was a vegetarian, there were only two main meal options which was slightly limiting. The atmosphere is great and the decor is beautiful. Overall I would return.

This place has a great atmosphere and service. However I feel like the standard of the food is a little sub par in comparison but it may just be the particular items I ordered on the day.

Had a lovely early mothers day afternoon chocolate tea on the Saturday. The afternoon tea was lovely although quite sickly due to the amount of chocolatey items , definitely need more balance of savoury and sweet. Still, it was all very nice and tasty. Service was a bit rubbish tbh and then got charged £13 for it...so check your receipt and challenge it before paying it, my daughter paid and didn't realise the charge until too late... Lovely venue and surroundings. Would I visit again for this afternoon tea, probably not..but I would return for the normal dining menu.

We ordered squid as a starter. It’s clearly frozen not what we expected. The waiter rushed us over the menu and had no knowledge. Total lack of training.Very overpriced average food, very disappointing experience.

Returning here on a regular basis, this was the worst experience ever. The staff were not attentive, the service was slow and inconsistent. Some of the food was cold and had to be sent back . Consistently having to ask for things on a regular basis . We have not usually experienced this and totally through us off guard as this is not the service we have experienced in the past . This has totally put us off eating here again , which it s a shame as it was our favourite for Cambridge. Usually, it’s attentive, good service, good food but not on this occasion. I’m quite sad writing this as it was a total let down. I hope people have a better experience than we did . !!!!

Ivy is always good quality. I can't say the best food but atmosphere, service and food options are always good.

DO NOT EAT HERE... I would strongly recommend not eating here, my girlfriend and I ate here and both got food poising. We both had the same main course and spent 12+ hours after eating it, very ill and vomiting. I reported this to the restaurant and they have done nothing other than tell me how many meals they served on that day. I will never return here.

While on a day trip from London, stumbled upon Ivy Cambridge. Service was top notch, food was amazing and the drinks were a presentation right out of Hollywood! You made me and my family feel like royalty. Thank you!

I’ve been before, overpriced, slow but a lovely atmosphere. I wanted to take my daughter for her 18th. She’s on a very restrictive diet beyond usual “Top14” allergens but simple adjustments would have made it possible. I emailed three times- one response “it will be fine, tell chef on the day”. Er no, we’ve yet to find anywhere with the necessary dairy, wheat, gluten, egg, soya, tomato & garlic free options without prior notice. No response to my reply asking if I could speak to someone, called the restaurant who promised the chef would call me. He/she didn’t. So we didn’t go! Meanwhile Pizza Express made a fantastic pizza she could eat and looked after us very well. Impressive for an Italian restaurant given her restrictions!

Had an awesome lunch , great food , really pleasant staff .10/10 . We shall return. Many thanks

We have eaten at many Ivy Brasseries, but I honestly believe the one at Cambridge is the best. I personally believe the staff are the most engaging and friendly and can say they are brilliant at their job. I have been on multiple occasions at different service times and this is my most favourite place to eat in Cambridgeshire.

I've wanted to visit The Ivy in Cambridge for quite some time. Despite our last-minute booking, we snagged a favourable time slot. Surprised by the restaurant's size and early opening at 8:30 am, we arrived at 1:15 pm. The brunch menu, though compact, allows ordering from the full menu (minus breakfast), with afternoon tea available from 4 pm. Opting for the burger, I was dismayed to pay nearly £2 for a slice of cheese. My friend chose the waffle from the brunch menu, a dish similarly priced to the burger (includes fries), yet less filling. I prefer dishes offering better value for money. Opting for a more budget-friendly tropical juice at around £5, I noticed a service charge added to the final bill. The staff proved friendly and attentive, and the decor was captivating. Despite the constant buzz, the well-spaced tables allowed for private conversations. With its accommodating large tables, The Ivy is ideal for groups. Its prime location in Cambridge adds to the overall appeal.

It’s a lovely setting with some amazing art. The service was classy and professional. It took a while for the food to arrive but It was definitely freshly cooked so all worth the wait. I was surprised by how well priced it was too.

Lovely restaurant with very good food. What made the experience today for my wife and I was the service. All members of staff really went out of their way to ensure that we were having a good time and were so friendly and helpful.

A busy answer vibrant venue, with fabulous decor. The menu is wide-ranging and interesting, with something for everybody. Good cocktail bar but some of the prices are unjustifiably high as they are not using the finest ingredients.

Food was excellent and we were having a great evening until suddenly told, without any prior warning, that they needed our table and that we were clearly to leave it instantly. They said we could sit at the bar but there was no room. We were left standing, clutching our belongings and trying to sort out the bill. Really upsetting to be treated with this lack of respect at a premium restaurant, we will not be going back.

A stunning restaurant with some of the best food in Cambridge, and staff who clearly take pride in their work. The décor and atmosphere is incredible, and the experience of this is worth a visit alone. It is more costly than your average restaurant, however is worth it. We felt that the bottled water was a bit of a pressured upsell, being asked if we'd like water, as in most restaurants meaning a jug, to be presented with a £5.50 bottle. Other than this, impeccable. Second visit was slightly more underwhelming, and we felt the service was slightly less/rushed with only one of us being addressed and asked if they'd like anything else i.e. condiments, drinks.

Excellent food and drinks with plenty of seating space. Staff go above and beyond to keep you satisfied.

Normally love The Ivy - have eaten in many. Unfortunately, the starter I ordered didn’t arrive and by the time the correct one came, my partner had finished. My dish wasn’t very nice - orzo burnt. No one checked back while I was eating and when I said I didn’t want to pay for it, ‘Harry’ accused me of eating over half of it. (My partner had tasted it too). Having been a loyal customer for many years and witnessing travellers refusing to pay for a meal for six in another Ivy because of a hair in one dish, I didn’t think I was being particularly unfair and would have appreciated a bit more of a discussion about my predicament rather than unnecessary aggression. Poor customer service.

Whenever I'm in Cambridge, I make sure to stop by Ivy. I enjoy the interior, the attentive staff, and the variety of cocktails they offer. It's always bustling, and hence I've only tried their brunch and afternoon tea, I can't comment on the other food. Even the journey to the restrooms is an adventure in itself! :) I wholeheartedly recommend it.

Had 3 courses here ( long time since I fancied 3 courses on a menu)and glad I did as well as a cocktail. The setting, staff and food all excellent. Worth every penny.

Perfect. Stated it was husband‘s birthday on booking and all staff were primed and ready to wish him a happy birthday. Lovely touch. Plenty of staff about where other establishments run on the fewest staff possible. Service was excellent. Food was exquisite. Atmosphere convivial, especially considering this was a Thursday afternoon of no particular significance in the middle of winter. It’s a very special place, a restaurant, trying to be a cut above and succeeding. Thank you.

Surprised and disappointed that an establishment such as The Ivy doesn't use free range chicken and even more surprised that our waiter didn't actually know what we meant when we asked if the chicken was free range. Ludicrous!

The little details in the usual service we get in Cambridge was lacking a bit this visit, understand it was very busy but normally your napkin is folded and place on the back of your chair when you're not in it.

Excellent food and service. We all had a lovely afternoon at the Ivy. Great staff and service. Was a nice relaxed experience would go again anytime. Maybe try the afternoon tea next time as it looked very good on other tables around us.

We stopped by for lunch on the off chance and the staff were great and accommodated us at the bar. The menu is quite large offering the usual steaks and fish dishes of this kind of restaurant. The 10yo had a sirloin steak and chips, and we both had the turkey and goose shepherd's pie, with a side of broccoli. The steak was perfectly cooked and the 10yo enjoyed it. The side of chips was forgotten and turned up late, which was a shame, but the staff were very good about sorting it out. The shepherds pie was quite good but a little heavy on the Turkey and light on the Goose, so lacked a punch of flavour. It was nicely seasoned, though. 3 mains with soft drinks and service came to £100 which seems typical for mid-market restaurants these days.

The service was great, but the food was really poor, I ordered a £37 medium ribeye but it arrived well-done, by far the worst steak I had for a while. The squid was chew and undone on the inside. With the premium price, it would have been great if the quality of the food matched the quality of the service as the staff were really nice

Food was very good, service was good but needs a little extra training - a little too attentive, around the table too much waiting to clear an empty glass the second it's empty.

Honestly, I think the Ivy has probably the best ambiance in all of Cambridge, especially around the holidays. We’re both vegetarian and got the mushroom linguini, arancini, and buffalo mozzarella. Everything was superb and the service was excellent. The restaurant is a bit expensive, but the service and ambiance make it well worth the cost. Probably our favorite spot for date night in town.

Update: no, we won’t be visiting ever again. Looking at all the negative feedbacks regarding the rude service provided by your arrogant manager. Perhaps having a new manager and new chef would make people change their mind to visit again. Hopefully it wasn’t the manager who’s responding with the google reviews as the comments about The Ivy horrible service has been over a year long and the service reminds arrogant and horrible. Not sure how these reviews has been helping to improve your service at any point. Very disappointed at the food compared to my previous visits at the same restaurant. Got a table without reservation with my friends and no one told us there is a 90 minute limit. When we were trying to order desserts after our meal, we were told there was only 15min left for us to stay. When we raised the concern that no one every told us upon arrival, whoever that collected the payment was being defensive and kept telling us we would have known and agreed upon making the reservation online, until I told them we were one of the walk in, he then realised we wouldn’t have known about it but still - kept on being defensive and told us that normally they only take reservations and the receptionist was being nice to let us have the table - so it sounds like therefore as we have the privilege to have the table without reservation, they have the right to kick us out without letting us know upon arriving there is a time limit. I understand if there is a time limit on a Friday night if we were told in advanced, but as there were two tables for us to choose from (one at 5.30pm and one at 6.30pm), I thought choosing the 5.30pm one would leave us more time to enjoy our meal. Turn out they can kick you out without prior notice. Not to mention the food quality has deceased since my last visit. I would be returning or recommending The Ivy as they clearly need to work on the food quality and customer service.

Had dinner there with my buddy and our respective wives. We just came in from London and checked in at the Fellow's House by the Hilton. Food was good, but could better. Service was very good. The staff there are trained very well. Maybe the Ivy, at Henrietta Street in London, could learn from them. Atmosphere was good, with a very floral setting being a nice touch. Felt like we were eating in a garden. The bill, however, was not so endearing. Rather pricey, but at least the service made up for the whole experience.

First time visiting for us when we had a lovely meal on 16th December for our anniversary. Decor is beautiful and they have a good choice on the menu. Food was quick, hot and utterly delicious. The soufflé was amazing! Lovely staff who were polite and attentive. Would highly recommend.

Boxing Day brunch with seasonal additions superb.

Visited for lunch while shopping in town, restaurant was busy and told cloakroom was full, a little annoying, this however was soon resolved by a departing guest. We were shown to a very nice table for 2 on a corner. The waiter soon arrived and took the drinks order, drinks arrived fast and the food order was taken. Food arrived in good time and was excellent, black cod was very nice and can recommend the truffle arancini. Restaurant is well presented and the staff were fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

Service really is the key to an enjoyable dining experience. However, throughout our entire meal we'd been subjected to interruptions roughly every 10 minutes, despite it being clear we were deep in conversation and still eating, not that that should’ve made a difference. Also, my plate was cleared away while my friend was still eating. Not only was that most odd, it was rude, and made my friend feel like we had to hurry up. Then when it did come to our wanting to pay the bill, not a waiter in sight. The chap who'd eventually come over with the bill (which we had to ask for), and asked how everything was (and wasn't wearing waiter's clothes so might have been a manager), instead of speaking with us face to face...he stood behind us and then proceeded to take absolutely zero notice of what was being said. His lack of courtesy and respect was shocking. It's such a shame the service was so shoddy. The whole staff need to be trained in hospitality, including that manager. We were there for breakfast and had intended to stay on, but instead repaired to The Orator, where we enjoyed an excellent dining experience that matched the delicious food. It's unlikely we'll dine at The Ivy again, and I shall of course let friends know what they might expect if they do. It's most certainly not how it used to be.

Fantastic food, beautiful atmosphere, and great service. This is the best restaurant I had so far. The starter presents a masterful interplay of flavours where crispy duck is exquisitely complemented by the accompanying vegetables. Sea bass and mussels are fresh and tender. The dessert ensembles frozen berries drizzled with velvety caramel source creates a symphony of flavours. I will definitely come back again.

Ivy Cambridge Town centre. Nestled amongst the cobbled streets and grand architecture of the Old streets, it lives up to the picturesque and expected image of the Ivy brand. The initial walk in reception was good with offer of coats in the large lobby to the coat rack. Walk in service available for small parties. Taken to an exquisite table complete with grand branded crackers. Menus and drinks options already on the table with plenty of Choice. Opted for the Goose and Turkey shepherd's pie, a grammatically/factionally wrong context however the rich flavours and the red wine gravy paired well. Portion size was a little small however plenty for the average diner. Pudding options plenty, however the festive option was to be tried. Mince pie parcels with a candied orange peel and coconut sugar with brandy cream. Very luxurious albeit a little dry on the pastry without the use of cream. Overall a good experience and lovely dining facility for all occasions.

Food was mediocre, the duck parfait was the nicest compared to the steak and smoke salmon we had. It had diversity of flavour and texture. Not value for money all in all.
