Very popular Garden Centre , sadly, the queue to order food is at least 20 minutes long and the wait for food to arrive at the table is at least another 20 minutes. My husband had finished his lunch by the time mine arrived. To be fair, the staff are doing their best under very difficult circumstances. We won't be repeating the experience anytime soon.

Terrible experience for ordering food since it’s gone to pay at the till for food. Waited over 30 minutes with a baby and a child. We now go to Pughs instead for food as it’s just a ridiculous system at Cardiff Garden Centre now

Tried to order a breakfast roll at 11.30am I was refused and told that the breakfast menu was finished. I pointed out that is says available until 11.30am. The staff member refused to serve me this roll. What infuriates me even more was the fact that the staff member asked me to hold on whilst he did something under the counter. Had he not done that I would have been within the timeliness. I think this is jobs worth gone mad.

The staff seem to be not hugely knowledgeable in the houseplant area, and beware of pests. (i got 10 plants, 2 out of them turned to be infested with thrips and fungus gnats that I only noticed when I brought them home - luckly I was already knowledgeable enough to know to not introduce new plants to my collection right away but quarantine them away for a while) My advice to beware of that and reasearch yourself as the help will unlikely be adequate. 4 stars feedback is for the choice of plants and overall quality of majority of plants that are healthy. EDIT: REPLY to Owner - Thank you for your reply, I highly appreciate it. Thrips were on Kalanchoe Thyrsiflora and fungus gnats were in Croton Petra - both I bought on 17th Dec 2023. On my last visit I also noticed somone crawling at the bottom of little Alocasia Cuprea (in the far corner where Dracaenas, Alocasias and wall with lots of large pots), some kind of little fly. I'd place my bet for it to be fungus gnat, I didn't get this plant as , whoever that was - it kind of scared me. ( I'd be glad to be wrong, but currently after that my experience in Dec. I'm extra careful and I don't buy a lot of plants I otherwise want as I'm being extra suspicious). Many thanks! EDIT #2: 13 nov 2024 down to two stars because aphids infestation in houseplant section is out of control since September on Alocasias! 😒please sort it 🙏 (as well as mealy bug presence)

A lovely place to browse and stock up on garden plants, statuary, flowerpots etc. In addition to the actual garden centre there is a shop and cafe. The shop sells some beautiful things - from garden tools, garden furniture and barbecues to household items like candles, reed diffusers, artificial flowers, clothes, food...the list goes on. Also onsite are a few retail outlets including Bonmarchè and aquarium supplies. Well worth a visit ( or two). My only criticism is that some of the items seemed a bit expensive, but there are plenty of reasonably priced items too. Update. This Garden Centre has been refurbished quite dramatically. Some of the retail outlets have gone but there is a Lakeland shop there now. The cafe seems bigger and the store looks different. The same sort of items are stocked but they are better displayed . There is also a food hall selling all sorts of food items.

There is an amazing variety of well kept plants, from indoor to outdoor, Bonsai to miniture. Theres different departments, from homeware to everything you need to keep your garden in fine fettle, to a delli! You have to see this place, it is vast. There's quite a good coffee shop too. Toilets very clean and baby change available. Give it a go, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Nice place let down by lack of organisation and staff in all departments. No one to be found in outside garden area and had to go well into main building to find someone. Some plants not bad value for money but some also very overpriced. Only 3 main tills open and ridiculous queue. Only 1 till open in restaurant with another very, very long slow moving queue. We left the restaurant without ordering. Car park and shop rammed but serious shortage of people serving. Priority is serving people at tills and not filling up and cleaning shopping baskets. They want your money but are not providing the service. I really will not be returning. Smaller garden centres are much less stressful.

Nice spacious garden centre with reasonable cafe/restaurant and plenty of moochable bits and bobs. Would like to see more locally sourced products in the homewares and gift areas but what's in store is of good quality and therefore not a disappointing browse. Cafe/Resto note: It's a "wait to be seated" situation, which is easily missable as the greet table is quite a way in past the counters. Choice of casual "coffee & cake" dining (and we all know I love coffee and cake) or full meal service. Lots of zones to browse, such as the watering stuff, plant food, stuff, bird feeding stuff, hand tools and stuff... LOTS of stuff. Indoor plants are plentiful and staff are on hand to offer friendly advice (about the plants I mean; not so much your bunions or tips on car insurance). Outside area is nice and big with a huge selection of plants, accessories, and ornaments. Take a floppy hat if it's sunny; you'll be out there for a while. Accessible via the outdoor area is a Maidenhead Aquatics store for all your aquatic requirements, including plastic ducks which are - of course - vital. Parking is plentiful and mostly on tarmac; overflow is on hard loose ground. Loads of room, but I imagine can fill up on high days and holidays. There's a one-way system in place by the way (just saying...). Like my reviews? Please hit the "love" button 🙏🏻🙂

So, the new cafe.....not great and awful attitude from the 'supervisor'. Arrive and queue at the till area through the only internal entrance to order, then told to walk into the table area and get a table number then walk back to the till area. The member of staff has then disappeared and other staff members say "won't be long" rather than actually serving. Said 'supervisor' is then told to serve me. I asked why the process is so poor and no one knows they've got to walk back and fore obtaining table numbers in order to be served at the till. She states they are trying different things to give the best 'customer experience' after receiving bad reviews. I said "well when you make people walk back and fore before you'll serve them, I'm not going to give a good review either am I". Her response......"I don't care, it's not my fault" as she turned her back on me. Definitely will not be returning to the cafe, attitude stinks and the cake wasn't great either!!

The gravy was so thin you could actually see the plate through it, the only consolation was, when I complained, we were refunded the cost of one meal . This has always been a lovely garden centre with cafe. The cafe is still good and larger so easier to find a place to sit. Food and service still good. However changes to the layout are confusing and difficult to navigate. I took my mum in her 70s. We navigated the new entry into the re purposed (right) side of building and then went into the cafe. Finding our way out was problematic. We asked 2 staff as signs weren’t sufficient and for us we were retracing our steps to the first part of the shop we’d looked in. We then had to squeeze past a long line of approximately 20 waiting for tills( and yes it was a squeeze as the queue was through the centre of the shelving area where products were stacked). We had nothing to purchase but had to keep apologising as people thought we were pushing in the queue. This was just to be able to get out of an exit- Never minded queuing but in the previous layout it was horizontal to the tills and this one appears vertical, and not enough tills. The flow of the shop, layout, till area and exit, needs extra thought as it doesn’t seem to work and flow as efficiently as previous. Very confusing.

Absolutely disgusted with the lack of service: No customer care or satisfaction, poor management of staff to mention 3 of the many failures. Managers are unavailable, staff are not trained in customer care. Went to purchase an item on show, was told they don’t keep stock, but it would be in, in 4-6weeks. Explained it was needed for a garden party. The lady taking order could not answer questions regarding the item, then couldn’t order on the till system, whilst she got a person to assist, I got talking to another customer and said how great the items were and what a good price, he decided to purchase one too. Eventually I was charged and the order put through, a queue was now forming behind me, due to the length of time it took for the staff member to talk the older lady staff member through the sale and ordering system. Well it never arrived, so we rang and were told “ can’t seem to source order bare with them. 8 weeks went by, rang and was told surprise surprise one had been found in the warehouse, boxes damaged but all parts checked and present, panicking as it was required for m a family celebration, my daughter took receipt of damaged boxes, it actually said on invoice “not checked” I arranged the following day off and booked someone to assist only to discover, no feet, no bolts, missing parts, the boxes looked liked they had water damage. I rang to speak to the manager, was told he was on holidays for two weeks someone would ring the next day, I complained at the fact it clearly was not in a condition to be sold. The following day I was called by the manager who was supposed to be on holiday and told it would be collected and I would receive a refund. 8 weeks down the line. When they are still taking orders and they are still on display and the pathetic excuses I have heard. I am contacting the companies CEO as I am sure he needs to know the way things have slipped, my £2,999.00 purchase is not wanted. No apology for the inconvenience, out of pocket expense and disappointment as it was required by 1st July for a family event. 🤬

There was no bacon for the breakfast menu due to the supplier not delivering. The wait for drinks and food was so long. When our food arrived it was cold - my poached eggs were replaced but I had ordered brown bread and the replacement was on white. The waiter service was very good when they had time to serve us. Ladies extremely pleasant. The manager came to talk to us as we were so dissatisfied, he did apologise and said it was only his second day and there were a few issues. Went to the Cardiff Garden Centre to look at buying a bench seat for my mother in-law, but the one we wanted was on order to be delivered to the centre with none currently available to take with us. We spoke to Perry and he was so helpful and amazing to accommodate us, give advise to get the bench delivered and put together from the flat pack as we were leaving for back to Australia ahead of the time of delivery and it would be difficult for our mum to get it done. Stacey took the order for us and really helped us out to make sure all details were good to go. We can't thank the staff involved enough for this experience and the quality of the product purchased. My partner's mum absolutely loves the new addition to her front garden and it's the talking point of the street. Highly recommend the garden centre for its range of stock and plants, and the deli and sit down restaurant are fabulous to break up the shopping experience. Thanks again to Perry and Stacey and others for assistance given and the outcome of purchase and delivery, we couldn't be happier.

I can not speak more highly of Kath who helped me immensely yesterday afternoon. I went in wanting to set up a veg trug with absolutely no clue what I was doing. Kath took the time and went out of her way to educate me, talk me through plant selections and explain various growing cycles and best times to plant. I can not remember a time I have met someone so helpful and passionate about what they do. It was much appreciated and left me really excited to go home and get started on my new project so I just wanted to thank her and give her the recognition she so deserves

Went to the cafe and it was really slow, the food was over priced and actually quite disgusting.

This used to be a real treat to visit, good quality plants and lots more. Sadly the recent re-organisation which puts the tills the furthest distance possible from the actual garden centre is a mistake and combined with steep ramps make it exhausting just to pay and virtually impossible to get anything heavy on a trolley to the tills.

The food was reasonable, good sized portions, but the table service was hot and miss, to the point that when we did manage to catch someone's attention, having already said we'd like afternoon tea, we were told that the cafe had closed.

Coffee shop and restaurant service is awful. Piles of dirty dishes on tables, long wait to be seated, to order and for food to arrive. Staff coming out with hot food seem to have no idea where it’s going despite the tables being numbered. A new system is desperately needed. Such a shame as the garden center is lovely

I wanted to take my time out to leave a review for the Magic Wrap Queen Street Branch on a recent order for the Deloitte office I was thoroughly impressed by the service I had received in the store. The manager of the store is very friendly, organised and takes pride in customer service. With a big order all the food was fresh, tasty, 100% correct & labelled I will defiantly order from here again!! :)

Had a delicious afternoon tea here with my mum. Fully recommend this warm inviting cafe, the staff couldn't have been more helpful.
