Absolutely fantastic evening, beautiful food served by amazing staff in a superb atmosphere and venue. First visit, already planning when we can return. Portions are perfect size and served fresh and hot, excellent quality ingredients at a very sensible price. Congratulations team you deserve the awards.

All my life I have lived in Loughborough, why I have not been to Caravelli's, I will never know... We went for Pasta night, as a recommendation from friends and it didn't disappoint at all. We had mussels & antipasti to start, followed by the stroganoff and seafood pasta. Of course we had to have a sweet (rude, not too) tiramisu & coffee to finish, all washed down with wine... It was all delicious, service was good, as was the ambiance a very good evening. Will we be going again, YES. Do we recommend it, YES!... Thank you Caravelli, for a lovely evening...

I love Caravelli’s. It’s such a fabulous Italian, with proper Italian food not like in many places They even did me a Dolce that wasn’t on the menu an Affagato..my fave

We stayed at Caravelli's for 3 nights and ate in the Restaurant every night.We stayed in "Hastings". A large comfortable room, with nice views overlooking the church, with extremely comfortable large beds and a tidy shower room with lashings of hot water. The shower room was quite "compact" but given the restrictions of a listed building the best use possible had been made of the space available. The room can also get quite warm, but this can be mitigated by judicious use of blinds and open windows. The breakfasts were Continental style, with a good selection of pastries, cheese and meats as well as of cereals. The restaurant itself was first rate with very much an Italian menu, rather than the "Anglo-Italian presented by many so called Italian restaurants. The food was hot as tasty, the portion size was good and prices reasonable at least compared to what we pay in the South East. The wine was well kept and we would recommend the House Red as being very good value for what is a surprising good quality wine. The location is good for visiting the local area, and we would recommend the Great Central Railway within walking distance as well as Leicester Cathedral and the tomb of Richard iii, as well as Calke Abbey, and Kirby Muxloe Castle. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will definitely come back in due course

Had the most amazing stay with Caravelli we stayed in the Hastings room which was just perfect! So clean and had an amazing nights sleep!! Not to mention the delicious food in the restaurant!! Will be back again!

My partner and myself found this place as a last minute thing for an overnight stay. We aren’t from the area and didn’t really know what to expect however we were blown away by the greeting we got from the staff straight away. The room we stayed in was beautiful. Very clean, everything fitted the room so well and felt so welcoming. We both really enjoyed our stay and the breakfast the following morning topped it off. Super impressed will definitely be returning!

Wonderful experience with very welcoming and accommodating owner and staff including Massimo, Alessandro and Lauren. Looked after us really well and were careful with one of our party who has a serious nut allergy. Food was delicious! Will definitely book again when we visit our daughter at uni!

Ate here last night with friends. This was my suggestion so feel bad that we all left not quite satisfied. We all had different dishes and all felt equally short changed with the portion size. I have eaten here in the past and never had this experience so feel maybe the portions have been reduced in order to keep the prices competitive but I would rather pay a bit more and have more to enjoy. All food was excellent, just the portion sizes as the negative. Lots of staff and good service. Also note, that a service charge was included in the bill but not obviously so and some people may also add a tip if they aren’t paying attention.

Encouraging to see a restaurant busy mid week, we called in on the off chance and were seriously impressed. The Leicestershire area has been missing a decent Italian since the old owners of Ferraris retired. Every dish that came out the kitchen was piping hot, superbly presented and what we tried all tasted fresh. Make sure you leave room for dessert the Tiramisu was stunning Drink prices are very reasonable along with a friendly team of staff. Highly recommend

Managed to get a last minute reservation on a weekday evening, staff helpful and friendly. The food was delicious, the 3 small plates offer is enough to share between 2 people on the side of a main. Chicken with mushroom was lovely.

This is without doubt the worst dining experience I have ever had. It is only the second time I have ever been served food of such poor quality that I was unable to eat it - and I eat in restaurants regularly. Once I Informed the host about my problem he was frankly rude and, although he grudgingly offered me an alternative, he was clearly trying to say that the problem was mine rather than something wrong with the food. The same person became rude to the point of being aggressive when we paid and left. I have waited nearly a week before posting this review to ensure that it is properly considered rather than an immediate reaction, so this is my view in the cold light of day. We ate at this restaurant because other reviews were so favourable and, to be charitable, I have to assume that my experience with the food itself must have been an exception. However, the behaviour of the host was simply unacceptable and there can be no excuse.

We had an overnight stay in Loughborough on our way to Manchester. I checked out TripAdvisor and booked this restaurant off the back of it/ We booked for 8.15 and found the very small bar/waiting area packed. We were told on arrival that they needed another ten minutes. Now I'm not sure how long we waited but it probably was half that before we were seated. The decoration of the restaurant was very nice and the place had a real energy and buzz which created a great atmosphere. We were served promptly taking our drinks orders. This restaurant has one of my pet hates and that is only bottled beer. However it was iced cold and served promptly. We ordered our mains and some sides. I have to say the food looked and tasted excellent and was again served at an appropriate pace. We were stuffed after our mains and sides so did not taste the dessert menu, however we did see desserts being served at other tables and they looked stunning, hopefully taste so too. We asked for our bill and again swerved at a decent pace. I hate waiting to pay after a meal so this was brilliant. We were wished well on our way out. The blonde waitress was excellent. The two male older gentleman, I presume owners or management were also excellent. I presume the younger waitress was new as she looked a tad lost but no complaints at all. If this was closer to home I would certainly book a table again, and on regular bookings, but sadly too far. Just get some Peroni on tap and this place would be outstanding.

After hearing so many good reviews from friends and family about this place I was really excited to go with a good friend for a catch up. Regret to say I was so bitterly disappointed. We sat and the restaurant was full at 7pm when we arrived. Our server asked about our drinks quite quickly and we hadn't even had a chance to look at the menu. It then took a further 10 minutes before our order for drinks was taken. Our food order was taken quickly after that and came out about 10 minutes after ordering. I found it really odd that the pasta I ordered only had four bits of pasta in it, but it was a really nice dish. After that Is when it started to get a bit uncomfortable. It was very clear they were busy and so were really really pushy about getting us to finish. My friend hadn't even put his fork down before the server took his plate from him. We laughed it off and tried to ignore it but it happened again with the bread, taken half finished and we hadn't even had half of the olives we ordered before they were taken away without him asking if we had finished with them. I wouldn't have minded if we had been there for hours but it was 8pm by this point and we had our table at 7pm. It had barely been an hour before what we felt like we were pushed out the door. The bill was given without us asking for it before we had finished our wine (still having half a bottle and two full glasses) and then the card machine was brought over again without us giving any indication that we were ready. I would understand if they had another reservation after us but if that was the case it would have been good to know, or we wouldn't have booked there if this was how we were going to be treated. We then went out for drinks elsewhere and something to eat as the portions were laughably small for the price. Don't think I would return again. Such a shame for a place with a very good reputation.

Went to Caravelli for my daughter’s graduation celebration meal on a first time visit. We all had different meals, which were all excellent. Staff were friendly and attentive - Alessandro our main waiter was excellent! Inside the restaurant was lovely and they had made an effort to decorate it with graduation balloons for everyone dining for that occasion. Would highly recommend and visit again!

Stayed here in their Beumont Suite. Stunning room. The Manager could not have been more hospitable. We ate in the restuarant. Food was fantastic and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Would throughly recommend.

We haven't been to Carvelli's since lockdown and had forgotten how good it was. Superb food and excellent service with a fantastic atmosphere. When a table was cleared, it was quickly taken by additional customers which shows that it is highly rated. I have to say we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and won't leave it so long before returning.

We love eating at this restaurant and this was our first experience since the easing of lockdown. We were welcomed in and shown straight to our table, there are screens in place to divide the tables and a one way system in place, all the staff are wearing visors/masks and gloves, but they are all the helpful, happy staff they were before. We felt at ease with all the measures in place, although it did take away the feel and ambience of the restaurant. That being said, we would definitely return in the current situation, but we’re really looking forward to when things return to pre lockdown, hopefully that will happen soon. The food is as amazing as it always was, we had 3 courses and couldn’t fault a single thing with any course. This really is a fantastic place to eat for any occasion. I think that with things how they are at moment, the owners have done a great job to try and make everyone feel confident and at ease with dining there.

Being new to the area my knowledge of the local restaurants was, admittedly limited, but we selected the Caravelli for a Birthday celebration, mainly based on its’ excellent trip advisor reviews. I would be the first to admit all those people can’t be wrong, and I would therefore suggest that our experience was outside the norm, but never the less it was truly terrible. It didn’t begin well with a waiter who had personal hygiene left much to be desired. But it started to go seriously downhill when the hot garlic king prawns were more like cold shrimps.Then the main course, and here was where the bird flew really into the jet engine. My father and I both ordered the veal in white wine sauce. After nearly an hour, what arrived was a turgid, rubbery grey meat that bore no resemblance to any veal I have ever eaten before. It would not be too much of an exaggeration to suggest that a good vet could have brought it back to life. Unfortunately, for us, it was undeniable and we asked for it to be cooked a little longer. Twenty minutes later it, during which time I had visited a very dirty bathroom, it returned no different. However, this time it was accompanied by a seriously belligerent Manager.At this point we decided just to leave, although they made sure to charge my seventy-eight-year-old father over £100 for the experience first. When he realised we still had a full bottle of wine on the table and asked to take it with him, it had already been removed. We had stood up from the table, less than two minutes previously. As I suggested this maybe somewhat out of order the Manger verged, but just restrained himself in the nick of time, from physically grabbing hold of my father. I’ll be honest, he did put hands on, but for a split second so I will make no further accusation. Although by now his language was abusive and his body language, threatening. We left, and needless to say never to return. So while I appreciate the vast majority of customers appear happy with this establishment, from the perspective of my personal experience, I would certainly recommend that you think twice before you order the veal!

This is my goto spot for a real treat. Expect a warm welcome and great service, good wines at reasonable proces and a menu that will keep everyone happy. If you like Italian food then I think you will love Caravelli.

Started with very welcoming and friendly front of house staff and the service from start to finish was perfect. All food was cooked to a very high quality and easily matched that of food that we ate in Italy (if not better than some). The seafood risotto had a great portion of different types of fish and all was cooked beautifully.The owner quite clearly had a very strong passion for what he does and it was so nice to see. It was all very fairly priced and there was no question on whether to leave a tip for a perfect experience start to finish. Will recommend to everyone I know and definitely be back!

We came here for the New Year's Eve dinner. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable. Lovely family atmosphere and good bar prices. Really enjoyed the evening. This was our first time here and it won't be our last.

We visited the Great Central Railway winter wonderlights so decided to stay and eat dinner locally. Based on earlier reviews we booked into Caravelli, couldn't get the early time we wanted and was lucky enough to get a table at 8pm. Well worth the wait. We both started with the salmon and prawns (from special board), followed by roast chicken and pasta carbonara. Quite full after that but managed to share a slice of cheesecake with toffee sauce also from the special board. Food was great. Staff very friendly, just the right mix of being helpful and leaving you alone. It's about 45 minutes away but we will definitely return soon.

Booked this last minute assuming even with the deal, starter, main and glass of wine for £15 that it would be quiet.Luckily we booked as very busy, quite obvious why, great attention and the food was excellent.Nice bread and olives also provided foc, and the waiters and owners looked after everyone so well.Sometimes when you go for a “deal” the service and food are worth the deal at best, not here, I will be coming back and happy to pay a fair bit more on a non deal night as well worth it.I had the chicken livers to start with the seafood pasta, so much sea food.... My family took me to Caravelli's for my 60th birthday. From arriving the staff were very friendly and attentive. The food, when it arrived, was delicious. A nice touch at the end was when the staff offered us a limoncello. Would recommend this restaurant.

our friends booked a table here but it was close to their closing time and I was worried we would be rushed out or choices would be restricted - needn't have worried. Despite being the only ones there the staff were very friendly and gave us all the time we needed. Food was good and my wife and friend had steak - looked very good and my friend( a butcher for 50 years) was full of praise for it. Parking is limited outside as the bays are only for 1 hour - down the side of the church, however, is free parking for 2 hours.

We enjoyed a seven member family celebration meal at the Caravelli in early July. We had been to the restaurant before but quite a few years ago. We checked the reviews, which were very positive and booked for a Friday evening.

Meal out with friends, hadn't realised there was a special deal on Tuesday evenings which was a bonus - plenty to choose from on the menu with starter, pasta dish and drink for £14.95. I had the lasagne, which was excellent, but also tried the equally good linguine carbonara. It was a great place to eat with friends.

If you are looking for a truly Italian meal that tastes wonderful, personal and friendly service in pleasant surroundings look no further. I’m not sure it’s a hidden gem as it was very busy and a little out if the way of the town but Worth seeking out. I really liked the whole evening - everything was first class and rest assured we will be back. Wonderful.

We’ve always loved the food here however, the only bit we didn’t like was the fact that the mix and the sauce for both the sea bass dish and the prawns was the same hence it felt like a bit of a rip off as one would expect to have different tastes for different dishes despite the fact that one was fish and the other prawn.

A lot of good choices on the menu. The food was amazing and really fresh. My husband added the special pud of the day which was a panettone bread and butter pudding, which was delicious. Can’t wait to go back to try the full menu.

Visiting Loughborough for the weekend our party of six booked a table here. Had an enjoyable evening with good food and service. Recommended.

Excellent choice of food, the specials board was right up our street! Good friendly staff, most of whom were actually Italian!! Good selection of wines at acceptabe prices. Having know it was our golden wedding I was alittle disappointed that they hadn't made any sort of effort to mark the occasion, but overall it was a good evening.

Me and my husband visited here mid week after meeting with friends and we nearly left before we'd even sat down The cold and unfriendly attitude of the young girl at the bar made us feel uncomfortable straight away and she was plain rude as my husband asked for a table. Once we sat down at our table things did get a bit better though and the food was very nice but we found it a bit expensive. It was a good meal let down by really bad service very disapointing
