Sapori Restaurant and Bar in Charnwood

I went for an anniversary meal with my wife and we have a fantastic time and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. We both had 3 courses and every plate was delicious with not a crumb left on the plate each time. Not only was the food good but the service was outstanding too with the staff very friendly, attentive and helpful.

Awesome food and service, always a pleasure visiting, it’s one of our favourite restaurants, they always make us feel welcome and the atmosphere and food is amazing.

What a disappointment! Booked here having read some great reviews. We won’t be returning. Extortionate prices - £20 for a starter / £38 for a steak (you are in Anstey not London Sapori!!), small portions and a lack of atmosphere. Little else to add, except I would definitely recommend that you think twice before booking.

My favourite place for special occasions. Came with a vegetarian friend to celebrate our respective birthdays. We chose the Set Menu which is currently £35 for 3 courses and is terrific value. I have loved Sapori since it opened and the range of vegetarian options has really improved. My favourite is always the fish of the day (thank you Andrea) the sea bass was beautifully cooked. Service wonderfully attentive (thank you Emi and Luigi!)

Amazing restaurant! We went for the taster menu and it was as expected. The food was absolutely delicious, can’t fault it and it was cooked to perfection. Presentation of the food for your taste buds going before eating! We also thoroughly enjoyed the home made bread it was a lovely touch. Seeing the chefs cooking on the kitchen was a plus for us as well. Overall, extraordinary experience and would definitely be back.

I can’t say enough great things about this incredible restaurant. It’s been a year since I first discovered it, and I’ve been a regular ever since. Luigi and the entire team consistently go above and beyond – their service is simply outstanding. The food is nothing short of exceptional, with every dish surpassing expectations, and the ambiance of the venue is both elegant and inviting. I highly recommend everyone to try it at least once. I’m certain you’ll find yourself coming back, just as I do. Kudos to the team for maintaining such high standards and delivering an amazing dining experience!

Nice hidden restaurant, great service only downfall was the food, wasn't as good as expected, it wasn't bad but for a Michelin star restaurant expected quality to be much better

Sorry for the low score as the resturant is beautiful inside however i felt the menu is very limited for vegetarian options and there didnt seem to be any chicken. All dishes seemed to be pork, fish, beef or lamb non of which i eat. For pizza lovers pizza is only available in main resturant Mon-Thurs but can book a place at the pizza bar.The food we did have was lovely to be honest so if anyone eats the above then i think you would love it . The group i was in was placed near the kitchen which the kitchen staff seemed to think it was ok to randomly shout at each other which at one point made some of our party jump. The only positive was the waitresses they were fantastic excellent service very smiley which some other members of staff should take note of. If the menu changes would love to return as mentioned the venue is beautiful otherwise il stick to travelling to London for à la carte.

Fabulous! Great atmosphere, impeccable and friendly service, and the food was AMAZING. One of the best meals we’ve ever had. We booked the tasting menu and it was to die for. Thanks Sapori, it was everything we’d hoped for and more.

We are both good cooks, so a restaurant has to work a bit to impress us. And Sapori impresses us very much. The chef manages to mix flavours, textures and even colours to produce the most sublime food. Service is attentive and helpful. We left feeling full and very happy!

Amazing food and service but definitely expensive

Always wanting to try Sapori finally got to eat at this phenomenal restaurant. Without question one of the best Italian restaurants ive eaten at outside Italy. Food is incredible... tasty, creative, extremely well presented using great tasting combinations. Atmosphere is relaxed in lovely surroundings, tables well seperated with a view of the open kitchen. Staff are welcoming, friendly and professional with great knowledge of the menu. This is a fantastic place to eat, cant wait to return.

Naaa the service did it for me. These people literally made us all get up to order because splitting bills was too much for them. Then they asked us to get up again to grab our drinks that weren’t made in front of us. Zero service. Waited over an hour to eat. Food was nice tho got the sea food type linguine. Chips was not nice, tasted like boiled potatoes in the shape of chips. Drink were nice. Overall for the price they could do much better with their service. I saw manger telling staff off for messing about. Maybe the day I went wasn’t their best day. But do better for ur service charge and price.

Recently visited for a special occasion, I have not eaten dinner Sapori for a few years and had a very pleasant surprise. The meal was delicious, with a starter of melanzane, main of linguine vongole, and a shared rhubarb panna cotta for desert. The food is cooked with passion and attention to detail, the service efficient but not over attentive. Drinks are well prepared (negroni and a peachy glass of mare chiaro from the specials menu). We loved it and will be back.

Sensational evening, really nice setting for the great meals we enjoyed and the staff were really friendly and went over and above for my Wife and I to enjoy our experience whilst celebrating our anniversary!

The Food was great, and the service was good. We appreciated the time restriction of 2 hours when the reservation was placed, but the manager approached us literally as soon as the two hours were up and instead of being polite was rude and made it clear he wanted us to leave. I would never go back there again because of this.

We were in Leicestershire to celebrate a very big anniversary, and after much research, across the whole county, I chose Sapori for our four-person family celebration. It couldn’t have been a better choice, the food created by Andrea was exceptional, and the service provided by the restaurant team was of the highest possible quality, and friendliness. Two of our party has food allergies, and the Sapori team were diligent and responsive to these extra needs, being very careful to advise us of the ingredients and options. Having travelled internationally and eaten and some pretty good places over the years, I can honestly say that Sapori is up there with the best of them. Thank you all for a great, memorable evening.

We went for a special Anniversary/Birthday 'taster menu' meal. Eight small courses, plus 3 types of bread and dips. We chose glasses of wine rather than the wine 'taster' option. The food was exceptional, the service was excellent. The flavours of each course were balanced and nothing overwhelmed the dish. Our final desert courses were 'customised' too which was a nice touch.

We had a fabulous evening celebrating a family birthday. Ten of us enjoyed the Taster Menu which was a culinary delight! Each dish was beautifully constructed and presented with the friendly staff explaining the components. The ambiance was lively and the restaurant busy but the service wasn’t compromised. Everyone was impressed and the evening flew by. Would definitely recommend Sapoori for special celebrations!

It is always a pleasure to eat at Sapori. Amazing food, great vibes and super customer experience. I was with my family and they really liked each dish we took. The risotto of the day (with wild garlic and mushrooms) was delicious and perfectly cooked “al dente”…gnocchi alla gricia with zucchini was amazing too, as the desserts which are a must if you eat at Sapori, “terra mia” is a masterpiece. In summary, It remains my favourite Italian restaurant in the UK. Thanks to chef Andrea and Luigi for representing so well the Italian food culture in the UK. Looking forward to eating in there again.

This is one of our most favourite restaurants, the Tasting menu is always exquisite and is so well presented. Luigi is a wonderful host and the chef Andrea produces some truly stunning dishes. We cannot recommend this restaurant enough for people looking for a fine dining experience.The atmosphere of the restaurant was so pleasing and being full, demonstrates the highest levels of interest that must prevail for this fine restaurant. We visit regularly and we are always given a warm welcome by the team.

This was our second visit to the restaurant and we decided to try the tasting menu this time. A very enjoyable two and a bit hours being served a wide variety of interesting and tasty dishes. All served by a professional and knowledgeable team. This is not a cheap experience but quality very rarely is. They change their tasting menu fairly often which is good news as it will definitely tempt us back.! We will be returning for another experience of their tasting menu and quite possibly their Al a Carte menu.

Our 5th visit and as always excellent service. We spend at least 1 month per year in Italy and Sapori is the only top class restaurant within reach of us that does top class Italian food rather than the run of the mill Anglicised Italian boring standards.

It is not easy to find Italian restaurants around the world that reflect expectations like this one, with excellent quality dishes and products! Highly recommended!

Have wanted to visit this restaurant for months. Glad I went but won’t go again. for me personally it wasn’t special. Bread was lovely (4 small slices for £6.50), 3 scallops for £18, ok but nothing special. Chicken main course was more fat than chicken. Pasta dish had empty mussel shells and no mussels, desserts ok but at £12 each so they should be. The Mont Blanc dessert had a rubbery weird texture to it, not nice. Not for me and won’t return there are much nicer Michelin starred restaurants out there.

My mother( over the age of 80) and i ( just under 60 ) are trying all Bib Michelin restaurants in our local area.Out of the 5 we have tried so far,this is the best.Service was exemplary, and the food outstanding.If you enjoy fine dining then this is a must.

I've been meaning to try this place for years, and having finally tried it I'm certain I'll be back! The food here is phenomenal. I loved their take on the Melanzano, and my missus didn't offer me a single ravioli to even taste, so I'm fairly certain it was pretty damn good! The desserts were sumptuous, hosts and hostesses very friendly, and happy to provide an opinion on the menu. Open kitchen, so hearing "Yes Chef!" As your order is processed is always nice to see. Prices aren't cheap, but they do provide value for what you're getting. The restaurant clearly isn't cutting corners. They considerate with dietary needs, and puts you at ease when ordering. I'll be back.

We wanted a little relaxation and good food after a busy start to 2024. Of course we got the relaxation and great food, as always, at Saporis. You can’t get looked after better than an evening at Saporis! Fantastic night, as always!

Had pizza in the Pizza Bar and it was fantastic. Perfect pizza. Staff are very friendly and welcoming and a lovely environment. My only negative on my visit are the stools in the Pizza Bar. Not very comfortable to sit on.

Disappointing Experience!! I had high hopes for this restaurant, as I'd heard good things about it. Unfortunately, my experience with their left me extremely disappointed. I placed a booking a month in advance for a special occasion, and I was looking forward to trying out their menu. However, I received an email informing me that my booking had been canceled, and there was no explanation provided. This was incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. I understand that circumstances can change, but the lack of communication and explanation from the restaurant was disappointing. It left me with a negative impression of their customer service. I would have appreciated some transparency and a reasonable explanation for the cancellation. I would caution others to be wary when using their online booking system. Customer service and communication are crucial in the hospitality industry, and unfortunately, this restaurant fell short in that regard.

First time coming here, the food is lovely and authentic and in house and you can definitely feel that when eating bread, pasta, and the desserts. I would recommend for the owner to include somewhere the possibility to choose a higher tip than the default 10% on the POS. Is an amazing place!

Food amazing and at all levels great cuisine. The fish was cooked to perfection and also the brownie. Great restaurant for special occasions. Christmas menu was beautiful. Pasta dishes a la carte are a bit steep for a ragu sauce with some pasta. Does not 16 pounds to be honest. Did not like the fact that they added 10 per cent to the bill for the service. The place is already very pricey and it shluld be up to me as a customer to decide whether or not the service was good or not and tip accordingly. But 15 pound tip for an expensive lunch not my thing.

To celebrate our anniversary we try to find a well reviewed restaurant. This was our first visit to Sapori. The restaurant is at the back on the ground floor of a 2 storey building . There are approximately 10 tables sufficiently spaced so that you are not disturbed by other diners. The service was very good, attentive but not overbearing. There is a wide choice of dishes on the A la carte menu, in addition to which on some nights there is a fixed price menu as well as an 8 course tasting menu. We ate from the a la carte. We chose different appetizers but then both had the beef followed by the tiramisu. We agreed that all 3 courses were very good. The wine list is extensive, we were very pleased with our selection. We will add Sapori to the small list of restaurants we use for special occasions in and around Leicester.

Myself and my wife visited Sapori for a birthday dinner. We had the tasting menu with wine flight. The food and wine was excellent and paired together with great skill and attention. The whole experience was great. Not a low cost meal but you get what you pay for at Sapori.

Excellent. Very accomodating when our guest list doubled in size. We were given a lovely table and were served by attentive and exceptionally friendly staff who couldn't have done more. Were able to provide alternatives for food allergies (GF bread and pasta). As always the food was excellent (and we did indulge. Hospitality could not have been better.

I've never been disappointed here. the staff is always friendly, the food is stunning and especially the desserts are absolutely incredible... One of my favourite places of all time, can't wait to come back!

I booked this resturant as a suprise for my partners 65th Birthday. Not only was the food excellent, very tasty and beautifully prepared, but the service was beyond expectations. The resturant had handwritten Happy Birthday on the plate of our dessert, an brilliant addition to our evening. I'd like to thank everyone who served us and to the chef, will definitely be dining with you again!

Our first visit here, we tried the set menu. What a wonderful evening! The food was superb; delicious, clever and original. Subtle flavour contrasts, and complex stuff you wouldn’t do at home. The wine was excellent. So were the staff - pleasant and attentive, but not overwhelming. We were neither hurried, nor kept waiting too long, A decent selection of non-meat options. Frankly, modestly priced considering. It’s a shame we don’t live closer to it, I’d love to go back for the tasting menu!

Sapori is a wonderful place to eat. Andrea, Luigi and Christina continue to make their restaurant warm and welcoming with excellent food made from the best fresh ingredients, and great service. My well-travelled friend, a visitor from Phoenix, was bowled over. I ate from the set menu, which is incredibly good value for money (Tuesday to Thursday evenings, Saturday lunchtime), my friend from the à la carte. We each had 3 courses. Total bill incl. Andrea’s delicious breads all made in the kitchen, olives, wine, fizzy water and service was just over £111, which I think is great vfm for such a quality dining experience.

Went for a birthday meal with family. Found it to be overpriced for the portion sizes. Ordered the ravioli when it arrived there was only 5 pieces of ravioli and 2 paper thin slices of aubergine. A salmon dish was ordered asked if we could have it as a main dish, waitress said she would find out, no one came back to us to inform us, when the food arrived the salmon was uncooked, it was not made clear on the menu that it would be uncooked, nor did the waitress mention that when placing the order. When the manager came round he was only interested if were going to pay for the meal. Got the bill at the end had been double charged for salmon, it would have been nice if we had been told beforehand that it will double charged or given us option to change. Cost us about £85. Has no kids menu either. Had been here in the past, but don’t think we will be going back.

Worst service and worst food. Ordered salmon dish considering it will be cooked one and waitress did not explain it either and ended up ordered as main meal. When it came it was uncooked with so strong smell. Asked the manager and he was unhelpful. Also ordered ravioli and portion size for main only had 5 tiny pieces and rosemary potato had strong foul smell. Booked it for my wife’s birthday but it was so disappointing. Staff and manager was so unhelpful and staff need proper training so they can explain their dishes and manager needs to have smile on his face rather than only care about customer’s money. Went there in the past and it was good but now not good and ended up spending £85 and left without having their food. Then ending up ordering takeaway from local place. So avoid this place if you can as what looks fancy does not mean it’s tasty.

A family meal here to celebrate my birthday, and what a delight!! Fabulous service throughout the evening! We had Halibut and Venison for mains - utterly delightful with sides of roast potatoes, seasonal veg and spinach, followed by tiramisu and Coco/mango dessert!! Fabulous full-bodied red...
