Capri Bistro Horbury in Wakefield

Had a very nice experience for a first time eating here, will definitely return and recommend. A very good Italian menu and quality - certainly plentyful portions.

Great place to eat with good service at a reasonable price.

Large group dined here for a birthday but I ended up walking out before mains were served. We had our babies with us and had to leave as had got silly waiting for food for nearly 2 hours. The starters we did get to try were nice and it looked like the food everyone else was having was great but the service was dreadful. No acknowledgment of how long it was taking to serve our party and an expectation it seemed that we’d be happy to wait all night. You expect a longer wait with a larger group but the fact that it wasn’t acknowledged or any attempt made to offer any kind of explanation or an estimate of how long the food would be just shoved in a corner and forgotten about. No one took drinks orders either we had to keep going to the bar.

I had a lovely meal. The older gentleman who made me a cocktail was lovely and made my night.

We've always enjoyed the Capri and last night was no different. We went very early and it was still really busy still seated immediately. Great wait staff great food. Highly recommend booking as it often has a wait for seats otherwise.

Food good but had to wait a long time for it!

Cafe capri- The food was quite poor, I ordered a Caesar salad and the green salad leaves looked like they had gone off, the croutons were burnt and soaked with oil. The scone we ordered was £5.20 for one?? And they ran out of clotted cream so we paid £5 for one scone and jam. But the worst part was the service from the lady server. She was acting as if she didn’t want to be there, loudly FaceTiming someone whilst we were trying to eat, and whilst my partner was waiting for the bill at the counter, she was texting on her phone and didn’t even look up to serve him. Overall very poor food and even worse service. However the main restaurant is very nice so it’s a shame the cafe does not live up to it.

(Edit) The bruschetta was chewy, the veggie burger was mushy with sweetcorn, peas and carrot etc not chickpeas, mushrooms and garlic as described! The fries were soggy and greasy the same as something from a regular takeaway, not skin on fries. Absolutely disgusting, paid for bad takeaway food and charged restaurant prices.

Always enjoy the Capri. Great food and friendly service.

Amazing food, first class service. Romantic atmosphere

Terrible service. Visited at 6pm on Thursday evening, there was plenty of staff and plenty of spare seats,we had to ask to order three times. Our starters arrived after 8.pm and people who arrived after our party had eaten and left. I think the staff are just stupid.

Had a really good time, we booked table for 15, for my mums 60th. All the staff was really friendly and accommodating. The food was really good and wasn't waiting long for it. Pricing was really fair. Would definitely recommend.

First time trying Capri Bistro Hirbury. I came with the girls, booked a table, as was told it gets busy. We decided to have a drink at the bar first, which we were told was no problem, I thought someone would come after a while to see if we were ready to be seated but no one came near so we went to the desk only to be told we would have to wait a few minutes until a table was clear, so stood there as we had given up our seats, 5 minutes later we were shown to our seats, ordered our food and drink which I could not fault it was delicious and good portion sizes. I asked for a bottle of water during the meal didn't get it, asked another waiter, didn't get it, so asked another waiter and hurray third time lucky. Food is fab Service needs a looking at

Had a very nice cappuccino today and an omelet in this very clean cafe. Served by attentive and friendly staff.

Went for New Years Eve with friends , very noisy but a great atmosphere.

60th birthday celebration spoilt by bad service & poor food . Had to ask for starters & mains, never even offered desserts. One of groups pizza looked shocking & he said he'd had better regular supermarket pizzas. 6 of the 8 in group unhappy with food. Emailed to tell management but they obviously don't care as no reply. Would not recommend or return.

Had a table booked for 8 and was basically ignored all night. Had to ask twice about our starters and main because it was taking so long and the one pizza we had ordered we have had better supermarket ones. Then to sum the night up we had our table completely cleared and never got shown or asked about desserts or coffee and then have an automatic service charge put on the bill( which we didn't pay). First and last time we be going.

Only the turkey was worth eating, never again.

Excellent anti misto starter, plenty of it too! Sirloin steak was nicely cooked. Everyone enjoyed the afternoon (all 8 of us) Service was friendly, look forward to returning 🍺🍝🥩

We had to ask for bread and they said that they had run out, but there was some on another table!!

It was just ok. I visited the Capri in Mirfield last week and I would recommend dining there instead.

Went to a party here. Food great, staff Excellent. My only small issue was the room we was in hadn't been cleaned prior to the event. There was food still on the seats and floor. I would go back just to try the restaurant out. Fab place.

Just called for coffee after dog walking. All good, but only place that does coffee hot enough is Costa. They heat the cups with boiling water while making the coffee.

Delicious Italian food, really nice decor/atmosphere and great wait staff.

Very disappointed with service. We arrived on time and had to wait a significant amount of time past our reservation time before our table was ready, with no help or offers to help tide us over. When we queried this we were met with a rude response from the host. After waiting a considerable amount of time, we had to ask for our order to be taken, and had to ask for proper cutlery which should have been provided. It appears from speaking to other guests that service was very slow for others too. Good food, but shame about the speed and service!

I wasn't there very long however the staff were very accommodating, the place was very lovely clean and up-to-date also catered very well for all abilities. Will go again.

Visually easy on the eye, very polite service at the bar and after looking at the menu reasonably priced too. Will update after we've eaten here as I'm sure we will.

Good food, but beware the 'optional' service charge.

Last visit was just that, the last. Expensive but mediocre food (my starter had an ingredient missing and there were only three!) and appalling service, took over an hour to start attending the table. Restaurant wasn't very busy even though it was a Saturday evening, so no excuses. They even added a gratuity to the bill! Never again.

Average pizza very dry complimented with oven fries. Wine was ok, food average. Won't rush back as it is.

Had praw cocktail they gave the toast to some else, stake was overcooked all I could taste was the burned bits from the griddle and the chips came when I'd nearly finished

My family had a birthday celebration for my 11 yo son. We had a party of 10. The staff was absolutely fabulous. We made a reservation and brought a cake for them to bring to my son. They were very willing to accommodate. The food was also amazing. We all had a variety from the menu and everyone loved their meal. I definitely recommend Capri and all of their locations to anyone. Their customer service goes above and beyond. Can't wait to visit again.

The burger's meat and special sauce were undoubtedly tasty, but the bun beneath it was completely burnt. This oversight greatly affected the overall flavor and texture, making it an unpleasant experience. Moreover, I was unable to customize my order and swap the Chunky Chips side for fries, which I would have preferred. This lack of flexibility in the menu options was disappointing.

We found Caprio Bistro in Horbury excellent. Our meals were lovely and really enjoyed them. Certainly visit again.

Looks good from the outside and inside... But the food was of a poor quality, bland, little flavour served hot! The chicken was tough as if it was warmed from the previous day, fries were great. The sauce on the salmon had no flavour, salad and the sauté potatoes were well cooked and tasty. Rocket was everywhere! Sorry but I feel it was time and £80 wasted, we will not be returning.

Booked at table for 8:15 and got told to wait in the bar area, we didn’t get seated until 8:50. We did ask after 20 minutes when we would be seated, they just claimed to have been setting up the table! Once seated we had to ask to order drinks and food as none of the staff seemed particularly attentive or bothered. God knows how long we’d have been sat there for if we hadn’t have asked. Food was lovely though🙂

Had a nice meal no Tetley beer . Now only an American Indian pale ale. They sell custard with pudding which is a bonus. Has been redecorated recently so fresh and clean.

Authentic food, reasonably priced

What can I say about Capri? I’ve been coming here for 16 years, had birthdays here, hired the room upstairs for events, come very regularly. But alas, I won’t be coming again in the near future. The last few times the service has been poor and I’ve had to send food back. They don’t seem particularly bothered about this, they just accept it. I can’t justify spending my money here any more. I don’t know what’s happened over the last couple of years but the quality and service has gone downhill. So, with a heavy heart, that’s it for me.

We had a very large group go, so ended up with a two course buffet instead of picking from the menu, the food was fine lots of empty plates, they were a bit slow on refilling buffet, the bar staff did an excellent job

Too busy and very noisy, you have to shout to make yourself heard. Portion size smaller than the Wakefield restaurant. Food served very quickly, feels like they want you out asap due to the people waiting to eat which when we went were lots

My second time here after a positive first visit. This tile however, it took 20 minutes to get seated, then after a further 20 minutes I had to find someone to take our order. Something was missed from the order which was disappointing considering we only had main courses and sides. Then after our meal, we waited another 20 minutes and still no one came to clear plates. Food was lovely but the service just poor. A real shame.

We went to Capri on Saturday gone and we had fantastic meal. The food was second to none. We had starters, mains and desert and they were all amazing quality food. Prices much more respectable rather than your big chains such as Tgi's FB etc and streets ahead in quality. Lovely venue and Dom and his staff were exceptional. Can not wait for our second visit along with many, many more. Cheers.

We have been a few times to eat in but tonight after returning from holiday dialled for delivery. Our daughter is Coeliac and after ordering, received a call back within a few minutes from Olivia, just to confirm the GF order requirements and advise that the oil for the fries hadn't been changed. As it happens, these were for me so didn't need to be GF but the fact that she called back to check and the bubbly friendly manner in which it was done was just brilliant. Thank you Olivia for taking the trouble and time to do this x

It’s busy so you have to wait some time not sure if you can book in advance. I did call beforehand and they told me to come down as a table for 2 would be available. Disappointed that customers that are known can just walk in and instantly be seated with a bread basket. I had a calamari starter looked great but they were tough/rubbery. The lasagna is to die for and I just want to apologise for only eating half so of it but my partner had the seafood risotto and the prawns still had eyes and was taunting me with it (don’t like prawns 😳😂) put me off my food. The garlic bread/pizza was ok but it was more of a crisp than a pizza bread. The atmosphere was great, the staff are fantastic ☺️

We had a perfect birthday meal for my dad. Really good, authentic Italian food. Not loads of rich flavourings and cream in everything, just good cooking, nice service and a beautiful restaurant. Thank you.
