Capella Lounge in South Somerset

Wonderful converted old chapel with balcony where you can sit, but the tables on the ground floor have equally impressive ambience. Food is excellent - eggs Benedict a delight! Coffee excellent.....but......will it be open when you want to go there? Closed last bank holiday I tried, so tend not to go often as it seems to be a bit of a lottery as to whether it will be open for biz..which is why I have not given this place type rating. If its open and you have not been in before, go in, its fantastic!

We were regulars here until coronavirus hit. Hope everyone is safe and that they will be able to open again soon. We'll be first in the queue for coffee and food if so! Can thoroughly recommend Capella Lounge. Jackie & Nick

I have visited Capella Lounge on many occasions and I can honestly say that it is fantastic. The food portions are very generous, the staff are ever so friendly and the interior is such a delight to look at whilst consuming lunch!Capella also do a lot for the community and help out with events etc. Certainly worth a visit in Chard, makes a change from the standard 'go to' places.

Such a lovely place to visit. That day, 6 of us had lunch. Plenty of choice, plenty of food and plenty of smiles from our hosts.Have been there for morning coffee and 4 other meals, all equally lovely. Fast becoming my favourite place in ChardJoanne

Popped in on a recommendation from a friend with my husband for a nice quiet lunch while the children were at school.So glad we did! The service was amazing and the food impeccable!! Top quality meal, couldn't quite believe a little cafe in the centre of chard would be so good! Very shocked the prices were so reasonable for such amazing food! The couple who are running this little gem have clearly given it their all and this shows. Cant wait to return on our next visit to chard :)

Called in for coffee. Converted church and has kept a lot of the olld features which makes for a different experience. Very friendly.

I was with a large group of cyclists making our first visit. We found the staff very welcoming and the food was excellent- even though 14 of us arrived there at once!! They even looked after our bikes while we dined! This former chapel is worth a visit and we will definitely return

Great little place for brunch/lunch while out shopping. Interesting building, which is being used as both a cafe and shopping location, as not only do they serve food and drinks, but also have items on sale too - handmade jewellery, photos and paintings and a few other things besides.Really enjoyed our visit here and will definitely be back.

This restaurant is located in an old converted chapel and the conversion has been done sympathetically with additional tables on what was previously a first floor gallery. The decoration is a little contrived with different styles of tables and chairs along with mismatched art on the walls. The service was fine and there is a wide choice of dishes available including specials but I have no idea how often these will be changed. My meal was fine and there was no trouble over getting tap water at nil cost. the prices are reasonable so hopefully the owners will make a success of this business.

I took a couple of friends to this fairly new restaurant in Chard this week (which is situated in an old Methodist Chapel) and we all enjoyed our meal very much indeed. Each of us had a different meal and they were all excellent. I personally had the chicken breast wrapped in parma ham, stuffed with sun-dried tomatoes and covered in a creamy cheese sauce. This was served with a small personal dish of mixed vegetables and a bowl of gorgeous square chips. Yummy, yummy, yummy! Have now reserved a table for 6 on Valentine's Day for a friend's birthday. xx
