Cantonese & Peking in Highland

On holiday, went for a takeaway which has to be the worst meal we have ever had! The veg chow mein was tasteless with soggy noodles and overcooked old veg and the shezwan was horrible. After 2 mouthful we binned the lot. Would never go here again as the next week we had a takeaway from th Galaxy in Aviemore which was 5 star

Starters were gorgeous: prawn roast and chicken spring rolls . We also ordered a satay sauce and received complimentary prawn crackers. From there, it was sadly down hill: beef chow main was sloppy and tasted like a bad school dinner. Beef curry was nice but nothing special. Crispy sichuan beef and Hong Kong style chicken were hard to tell apart, cloying sweet sauce covering both. Oh dear, we will sadly not return. Very enthusiastic chap who appeared to be serving and cooking, clearly working hard at a time when it is so hard to make money but the food simply has to be better.

Just your standard Chinese. A bit expensive(what isn’t nowadays) but I wasn’t at all disappointed, I enjoyed it and it was flavoursome. I’ll most definitely return. The lady behind the counter was lovely too.

This is a straight down the line chinese takeway, which was pretty much a middle of the pack sort of place. Not particularly bad, not particularly good. Portions were decent.

Ordered a takeaway for 11 people was quickly cooked hot and all very tasty good size portion too . May well have another before we head home

This was going to be a 2* review as having ordered in advance and been told that 15 minutes was ok, I waited 50 minutes for my food. Luckily, the young guy behind the counter was very pleasant and apologetic and the food was incredible. So, if your not in a rush and like big portions, you will be ok. :)

Good food and plenty of it! I would recommend it. You seem to get fried rice with the main dishes. We had loads of food. The young guy on the phone / counter was very polite Thanks

The shop is pretty shabby , but the food was not too bad . Service was quite fast and they were friendly. So all in all not too bad.

visited here for a takeaway really as there are little other options. No website and difficult to negotiate the menu photos on Facebook so we decided to drive there and order. The food was available later than advised and there is little attention paid to covid rules. When we got home one of the dishes was completely different to what we have ordered. The food was generally quite tasty until my daughter found a small black hair in her food (we are all fair). Not somewhere I would re-visit

After collecting our food and arriving home, we realised that our order had not come with any rice, even though the dishes we ordered include rice. We called to explain but instead of receiving a simple apology and the offer to provide rice, the man we spoke to was instantly defensive and said “the meal comes with rice or chips and you didn’t tell us which you wanted, you can’t expect us to assume we know which one you want”. I responded explaining he didn’t even ask us what we wanted and he ended the call by hanging up on me. I was so shocked! This is absolutely terrible customer service. The man needs to learn how to do his job in the first place (I have never been out for food and not been asked which option I would like when there is a choice) and also how to respond to customers when there is an issue. I was calm and polite when I rang, and believe it is extremely rude to hang up on a customer! This happened last Friday (25th September) and we were served by a young Scottish man. The food was really tasty but the experience was let down by this individual who you may wish to consider working for you if he continues to deal with customers like this.

Food tasted amazing, we are veggies so sometimes Chinese food can be bland but this was outstanding. Quick service and completed correctly and accurately with all assistance at hand when needed. Hand sanitizer available on the counter and this was regularly cleaned whilst we were in there. All staff were wearing masks and were following social distancing etc. The guy on the front desk was great, such a breathe of fresh air with everything else going on in the world, he was helpful when serving to ensure we got the best choices of food, gave us everything we needed too and spoke us through the local area. He really made our evening! And even better followed by delicious food.

A really good experience I eat here most nights and there chicken balls and gravy is the best I have ever had will definitely eat here again

The food from this wee takeaway was reasonable but the Covid awareness was almost zero and the service appalling. COVID There were no restrictions on numbers - had I realised before ordering I wouldn’t have ordered. There were four customers in the shop at one time without masks, transactions were in cash with no option to pay by card (I have not used cash throughout lockdown) and the boy serving looked at me strangely when I refused change that wasn’t wrapped or bagged, and there was no screen at the counter. Very stressful This is an example of why Covid figures continue to rise. SERVICE One young lad on his own trying to juggle customers and phone and doing neither well He was very pleasant and polite - I lost count how often he called me ‘miss’ as if I was 40 years younger!! His parents can be proud to have raised such a polite son. Unfortunately that doesn’t make up for poor service I had to repeat my order several times (only one thing!) then I was overcharged by £1.35 - not sure how he managed that when I was buying one item! I saw a man return his order because he was given someone else’s. The wait time was far too long and others waited even longer. FOOD When food finally arrived I was pleasantly surprised - clearly the cook/chef is more competent Than the young boy out front - but there was a sweet taste as if sugar was added instead of salt. Despite that it was very tasty and piping hot. If rating was for food alone it would be a four.

Very speedy service (<10 minutes) although the guy behind the counter was a bit clumsy, he did apologise and said he had a long day (which was totally fine). We got a wrong order (given chicken chow mein instead of duck) but we were so hungry we didn't mind. Prices were slightly lower than average and we had a good quality meal. Good portion and flavour. Not a lot of MSG compared to most takeaways.

My family of 9 had takeaway from this Stablished was the worst mistake we made found hair in the meals phoned up and spoke to the owner was rude and didn't want to do anything about our problem hung up the phone on me because I asked for a refund

On a family holiday we spent £53 on several dishes from this Chinese, after driving 15 minutes to collect this and then driving 15 minutes back home we sat down to eat our meal and after finding hairs in several dishes it put us all off our meals, definitely not worth the money or time to visit the establishment, if you want hair in your food then I suggest you go here.DO NOT GO HERE!

Spent £52 here for food for 9 of us on a family holiday &amp; the whole lot went in the bin as when dishing it out two of the meals had hairs in them. Absolutely disgusting &amp; when we spoke to the owner about the matter, he hung up the phone on us! Shocking food &amp; service!

Ordered food from here & not only was it poor quality, there was hairs in the food. The whole lot went in the bin! Drove 15 miles each way for the food & never been so disappointed! If you like hairs in your food, this is the place for you

Spent £53 on an order for myself and my family, what a mistake that was as we found hair in a few meals and after being put off we put everything in the bin, after speaking to the manager we got nowhere, they were rude and told us to bring the food back in a bin bag to the restaurant which was 15 miles away.. what a joke. Needs to learn how to run a clean place of food and customer service!

Delicious food, friendly staff, ready in a reasonable amount of time from ordering and has not left us overly thirsty as alot of chinese takeaways do. Overall, excellent mmmmmm.

Told it would be a half hour for food when ordering by phone and still waiting after an hour and a half. Avoid at all costs unless you want to come in and wait as phone orders do not get placed when you call in. Food really poor after all that. The poor guy who takes the orders deserves some sympathy as he does not control the kitchen and just has to apologise to everyone.

Sadly this evening we ordered a family meal from this takeaway. I was extremely disappointing!!! No flavour to the food. It must be awful as I don’t complain so I find writing this quite alien. I felt so strongly that I had to address this and say how disappointing it was.

We ordered some starters, fried rice and a vegetable dish. All as one would expect from a local Chinese restaurant - would stop here again for same!

As we had been out all day and nobody fancied cooking we opted for the Chinese carry out. All phoned in 10 minutes before and after a quick 5 minute wait when we arrived, because it was extremely busy, we picked up and off up the road. What a feast we had. My wife who usually eats the same thing all the time, reckons it is one of the best Chinese meals she has had for a long time. To be honest, we all agreed with that statement. Great food reasonable prices. Would very definitely recomment this one for a great feast.

Vor Ort gibt es nicht viele Möglichkeiten einzukehren, so dass wir eigentlich aus der Not eine Tugend gemacht haben. Wir haben bei einem Laden, der eigentlich ein Takeaway ist, trotzdem den einzigen Tisch angeboten bekommen und während wir hier aßen festgestellt, dass dieser Laden richtig brummt. Zurecht, denn das Essen war wirklich ordentlich und preisgünstig. Wir sind jedenfalls satt und zufrieden zu unserer Unterkunft zurück gekehrt.

Ordered 4 meals tonight. Excellent quality and good quantity. Worth a visit. Duck in black bean, chicken in chillies and black bean, special chop suet and a shredded chillies beef. All spot on.

Went for the first time as staying near by ,food was excellent bit pricey but very good worth a visit

The take away may not look much outside, but makes up for it with the helpful friendly staff and great tasting food. Freshly cooked and hot. Not badly priced.

We were short of options that evening and went in to get a meal. Prices were good and the service very efficient. We really enjoyed our meal, the portions were hearty and if in the area would use it again.

After reading all the reviews, some good some bad we decided to try one dish. A chicken curry with fried rice. Staff were pleasant, the place could do with a good clean and a paint. We were nervous so decided on pizza but one of our group wanted to try a dish for next time. We thought we couldn’t go wrong with a curry, really tasty curry with lovely clean white chicken, well cooked onions and the sauce tasted like home made not some powdered sauce. It had a nice zing to it. All in all we will go back as we are in Kingussie load for work.

We would highly recommend this takeaway, the food was ready quickly it was nice and hot, very tasty indeed.

I will never come to this place again. I bought four dishes, two terrible soups and two unpalatable dish. Shrimp floats in mushroom soup !!! Staff confuses orders- this is not a joke - I ordered chicken- I got mix chicken and pork meat.

Having read the reviews of the local chinese food outlets I decided to travel from Aviemore to Kingussie .

This is a super Chinese takeaway which serves up good fresh tasty food all the time. The portion sizes are great and everything is made fresh to order. Our favourite is the Singapore noodles with a portion of chicken satay on the skewer and Cantonese sweet and sour chicken.

Great wee Chinese takeaway in Kingussie. Friendly , fast service and the food was great value compared to another local Chinese takeaway in the next town I have reviewed before. Would definitely return here .

Para ser honesto, lucha para hacer peor que los anteriores dueños. Mi perro podría haber preparado mejor que ellos. Así que tenía ganas de comer en la nueva cocina cantonesa y de Kingussie pekinés. Intenté un par de veces después de que abrió, y para ser honesto, aunque el servicio era amable, la comida era mejor que antes, pero aún así me dejó un. No quiero quejarme, como quizás fueron al encontrar su calma en su nuevo negocio.

Je kan deze afhaal Chinees vinden langs de doorgaande weg, waar je ook op bepaalde plekken kan parkeren. Er is een uitgebreid menu en een vriendelijke blonde meid achter de kassa. Het Chinese personeel staat hard te werken aan onze bestelling in de keuken. Lekkere gemengde groenten in zwarte bonen saus en Foe Yong Hai zonder tomaten saus met witte en gebakken rijst. Porties waren groot genoeg en we hadden genoten in ons hotel in Newtonmore, even verderop.

As I live in kingussie it's my local Chinese and I have to say it's very very good, actually the best Chinese I've had we love their food, highly recommended

Yo tenía un cerdo dulce y agria y por primera vez, tuve la salchicha de carne empanada pasar como cerdo. Odio las salchichas, que era asqueroso. Salsa dulce y agria decente, las demás comidas muy agradable. Pero me dejó profundamente insatisfechos. Hambre y no pudimos comer salchichas dulce y agria maltratada! Algunas personas pueden como este, pero en todos los años que hemos disfrutado de cerdo S&S;, nunca me han dado toques de salchichas. Me hace sentir enferma sólo de escribir esta crítica, pero no es de cerdo salchichas de cerdo a pesar de haber! !

Went for a takeaway off the back of some reviews on TA. The food was so so, some parts better than others. The most disappointing dish was the char Sui chicken which was dry and had the weirdest colour sauce, minimal meat but a huge layer of water logged grey bean sprouts on the bottom. The beef was an improvement but £2.70 for prawn crackers?!?! Doubt I'd return.

We ate here one night and it turned out to be one of the best, if not THE best Chinese we've ever been to. It's probably a good thing that we don't live in the area otherwise we'd probably be eating there every week. Fresh tasty food, good sized portions. Lovely!

We have ordered several takeaways since it came under new ownership. I would recommend giving it a try the food is fresh, delicious and what a transformation. One of the best Chinese takeaways I've had! Order by telephone told meals would be ready in 10 mins - turned up and true to their word food pipping hot. Alternatively order and if not driving pop across to the Tipsy also under new management (fantastic pub and food) have a pint enjoy the crack then pop back for your food.

Eat here after it was recommended. Very good Chinese food at sensible prices. Would definitely use again.

Best Chinese food I've had &amp; probably any takeaway by a long way since moving North from East Lothian two &amp; a half years ago. 6 different dishes, with 2 visits in a week &amp; would only say 1 dish the salt n chilli prawn wasn't to my liking, but that might just be me or the 10 or so mile journey home! Sweet n Sour Pork Cantonese being the winner so far &amp; only real bug bear is no prawn crackers thrown in, to my dogs disappointment!!I'll be back, quality Chinese

We enjoyed all the dishes purchased which were timely prepared. Chips were notably great. Only the prawn crackers were not up to the great standard as the rest, hence 4 out of 5.

Re-opened this year- What a revelation and extensive menu catering for all tastes, veggie and even European! We had a menu provided in our cottage at Ruthven (a mile away) I telephoned the order (set meal for 3 = £36) Quoted 10 minutes and by the time I had driven there it was ready and waiting. Blimey I struggled to carry 2 large carriers!What a feast! Be warned there was more than enough for 4! The amount of food, the quality of ingredients, outstanding. I have to admit we could not eat it all (in one go!) The rest was lunch the day after. Pity we had only a couple more days to stay.

Easily the best chinese takeaway I've ever had - we tried lots of different dishes, spicy shredded beef, lemon chicken, special chowmein, young chow fried rice and many more and they were all 10/10. The girl that served me was lovely and very helpful to all of my questions and kudos to the hard-working kitchen staff that prepared the amazing food. Definitely will return over and over!

This is the first time I've eaten here since its come under new management, and I'm very impressed I didn't go to adventurous however it's the first curry I've had from a Chinese and it was delicious as we're the chips and the side of mushrooms which were big and juicy. The only reason it's got 4 out of 5 is because you don't get prawn crackers with your meal after spending a certain amount. Apart from that a big thumbs up and recommendation to anyone living in or visiting kingussie. The food was ready when they said it would be ready and the lady behind the till was all smiles and friendly. Well done guys

Very happy to have a decent Chinese takeaway, been several times over the last couple of months since the new owners took over. Tried various meals and all have been spectacular so far will be back soon for another delightful meal.Only downside for myself is that it's closed on a Sunday, as this is the most likely day I buy a takeaway, probably for the best as I'd be there most weeks other wise.

Great to see a decent take away in Kingussie where not everything is deep fried!!!.I wont be having any more fish and chips for a while.I order lemon ckicken and it was super I did not like the pineapple but just put it aside If you dont either.Huge amount of chips.cheap and so good.Great alternative .

Started well then a chef came in who my opinion was trying to ruin the business. Now they have another chef who turned out the most delicious Chinese meal I have had in a very long time, well done Kate for finding him and well done Michael for being an asset to the company

Have previously had food from here a while back when it was truly awful and the food was terrible. However, happily this now has new owners and is a thousand times better. Fab bbq ribs, also enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken and the chicken and char sue, not had a bad meal yet. Good value prices, worth a visit.

Always had issues with the previous owners and their quality/quantity/prices.Under new management our New Chinese Takeaway really does deserve an opportunityto prove itself.Quality great.Choice vastly improved.Price now in a sensible place, inclusion of boiled rice or chips with most dishes makes so much difference, but overall the quality of the dishes says it all.You may have been before, previous operators did a moon-light in May 2015, this is NOT the same operation!!!!Well worth a visit.

This takeaway reopened on Tuesday under new owners so thought I'd give it a try and I was pleasantly surprised. The food is 100% better than it was before and prices now include rice or chips as standard with a 50p extra charge for fried rice. The new staff are brilliant, helpful, cheerful and happy and the whole place looks and smells fresher. When I was in the place was packed and the food was coming out very quickly.This is a must try if your visiting the area self catering. Good luck to the new owner and thanks for giving the village back its Chinese.

Great food - prices were a bit expensive but the food is very tasty. Went twice - once on the Friday night ad again on the Sunday (was only in Scotland 3 nights), so like I say, a bit expensive but good food :)

the lady behind the counter is a legend, so unbelievably rude and unpleasant. I would be upset if she changed because it makes me laugh. I always make a point of being super cheery and chatty and her sour face and annoyed attitude is priceless. Oh almost forgot, the food is awful but pop in for a chat with the most miserable woman on the planet. hilarious.

There are three main points about this takeaway. 1st either closed or not open when they say the opening hours are. 2nd locals told us not to visit. 3rd the price is extortionate. It doesn't include rice, or have the basic dishes you'd expect. Just as you walk past it doesn't snell right either. Smells of old oil.

Hours on door state they are open Mondays, went to get a meal from there but they were closed? Rang them and asked if they were opening to be told 'no' and when I asked about the hours on the door he just hung up on me!!! How rude! I am local and wont be going back here again. Maybe I should have listened to the other locals who dont go here due to bad food and bad service.

Possibly the worst Chinese takeaway I have had in Scotland. You can taste the oil is needing changed and the hot and sour soup looked brown and Gloopy instead of red. Tasted funny tooPricey as well, as no dish comes with rice. £4 for noodles!Better going into Aviemore for the Chinese there or going to one of the Kingussie chippys

Very much an average takeaway, with average prices and all the usual items. Rice to go with meals a tad pricey and fried rice rather too often fried in tired oil resulting in a rather brown and slightly acrid product. Kung Po not really spicy enough for me, but palatable and all meals always well packed for taking home
