Mei's Food in Highland

Impossible to rate food as no one was interested in serving us. Four people in kitchen, one cooking, one on phone, and we were ignored.

We were staying at a campsite in Golspie, turned up very hungry after other plans fell through so stopped to pick up a takeaway from Mei's after reading great reviews online. Did not dissapoint. Young lady on the counter who was being trained up, very friendly. Would recommend.

We were in the area on holiday and decided yo get a takeaway the service was good and the food was good a little spicy we would go again.

After the dreadful chinese takeaway in Dornoch I had to try and find another as I love chinese food. Looked this one up, albeit it was around 10miles from our campsite at Embo. Never the less, surely anything would be better than the Dornoch one. In I went and placed my order. Chicken curry, fried rice, shedded deep fried chicken in sweet cantonese sauce, fried rice, chips, prawn crackers. Total cost, £19.80. Portion size was normal foil trays, fried rice was tasty, on with the chicken curry, nice body to the sauce, plenty chicken. Taste was spot on! Next the fried rice then the cantonese shedded chicken on top, again, good body to the sauce, nice and sticky. Taste again was the best I have had. Chips & prawn crackers were also very nice too. Overall this was well worth the travel, I’m a believer in paying good money for good food. I hate places like the one in Dornoch who overcharge for poor quality food. I highly recommend you try this little gem of a place, food is cooked whilst you wait so don’t be in a hurry! My only criticism would be the waiting room was cold, could be doing with a heater to heat the place whilst you wait. Please do yourself a favour, if you can get to it, you won’t regret it. The chap who served us was not very talkative but greeted with a smile, and left us with a smile when we collected out order.

Very tasty and well priced. Set meal was delicious. Parking at front door and food was still hot when we got back to Dornoch.

Had two takeaways from here during a week in Golspie. Lovely food, fast service, very good value for money.

Got a couple of takeaway meals and they were very tasty. Phoned in my order and picked them up 25 minutes later. Simple and efficient process during this Covid situation.

Why can't i award 7 stars? Before i start, i just want you all to know that i have no affiliation with this establishment. I live 4 hours away. But omg, this place has just provided me with a feeling ive not experienced for a long time. We telephoned in our order after hearing the 'engaged' tone 128 times and was told there was a 2 hour collection time. Do not let this put you off. I would have waited 4 hours for this munch, i kid you not! Personally, i ordered the lemon chicken with fried rice-absolute perfection within that foil dish - scranned within 7 minutes. Dishes ordered by other members of the party included beef curry, chicken satay chow mein and prawn crackers with sweet n sour sauce.Not one person spoke during the act of demolition. If i was on death row, i would order this meal as my last. May i also add, we travelled 10 miles to taste this delight. I recommend you travel 110 miles if you need to. 40 years of living and i have only just discovered this gem.

Great tasty Chinese food a must place to visit for a takeaway in Golspie, good service reasonable prices, plenty to offer.

Had take away as passing through.Great portion size at good value. A bit slow as it is busy. It is worth stopping at.

bought 2 dishes chicken fried ric and roast pork fried rice , really enjoyed both,would reccommend a visit,staff friendly

My family and I order our regular, returned home and tucked in however, we found an unwanted additive a long strand of hair! We gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt as we were regulars. So two weeks later we ordered the same meal returned home and tucked in but lo behold another strand of hair was found in one of our meals. As a result, we no longer order from here despite the food being great instead we order from Brora (slight price variance) but just as good as Golspie.

The food was quite good the best chinese north of alness, service can be slow but the food is good its better to phone in an order. Set meals are good value. Recommended.

Nice food - but nothing overly special. They do not deliver; the food i found greasy and the sauce slightly thicker than normal. Aside for this my order was nice and i would return but

Take away food, no eat in. Extensive menu, friendly staff. Chicken, Chop Suey - large portion of tasty food with plenty of chicken, but not fine dining. I would be happy to go there again. Warning - closed Monday & Tuesday.

I've visited this takeaway for years even if it's only every few months. I enjoy the food and like that the menu is a bit different in how it's laid out so you can create your own dish. The price is consistent with other Chinese takeaways in the area. They never really get the orders wrong or mixed up which is a nice thing not to have to worry about. Only problem I have is every time I drive past at the start of the week they're closed, and not just for one day. That makes me reluctant to make a trip out there to find they've changed the opening hours and are closed. Otherwise I would much rather go here than to the other local takeaways

Walking distance from our cottage. The food was excellent & reasonably proced. I'd certainly usethem again if we were in the area. Crispy Shredded Beef is my favourite dish & it was possibily the best I've tasted. Takeaway only

Top notch, high quality food. Would rate 5* but Tasha and Shania are well below par in the patter department and are complete utter radges and should be shot. But Ricky and Mei are sound as.

También, una llanura chow mein consistía en nada más que fideos? Era una especie de esperando unos brotes de soja, pero tenían que ser solicitado como extra? El menú era bastante limitado comparado a nuestro local chino de vuelta a casa y no había tostadas de sésamo de gambas (que son mis favoritos! ). El personal de recepción podría comprender el contenido del menú junto con los fundamentos de la comida china. Fuimos dos veces a la semana estábamos en Golspie y el dueño amable nos reconoce en nuestra segunda visita y sugirió que nos llame a través de la próxima vez nuestro pedido", así que no tuvimos que esperar. La calidad varía aquí, un poco, a veces la comida es grasosa y salada, pero otras veces está muy bueno.

Teníamos costillas y nos preguntaron si queríamos salsa en ellos, cosa que hicimos, y había un montón de salsa picante, también había de Mongolia y los Rollos Primavera de pollo. Seguido de brochetas de pollo y pato en salsa de ciruela, ambos con arroz frito de huevo. Grandes porciones que terminamos la otra mitad de la noche siguiente. Lo único malo con el plato de pato estaba allí era absolutamente un montón de piña, lo cual me pareció muy bueno, pero mi marido no, ya que no es un gran amante de la casera de piña. No había mencionado la piña en la descripción. Llevé una bolsa en el congelador para poner todos nuestros platos y cuando me la entregaron a el dueño muy amable, se lavó la bolsa por dentro y por fuera. Me pusieron en evidencia, ya que era un poco clarty, pero el lugar estaba reluciente y higiene era una prioridad muy alta. Estamos aquí solo para la semana, pero como el viernes es el último día, volveremos! Los dueños son muy amables y acogedores.

Went here as not a huge amount of choice, we visited off season. The quality of food was ok and prices pretty decent. Wouldn't rush back.

Food has always been good. Can see into the kitchen which is always a sign they have nothing to hide. Looks good, see it made fresh. Young staff they employ are a joke, seem to really take advantage of them.

this used to be really nice place to eat but now its a hit or a miss really dissapointed last time as the noodles were like cardboard. rice is over cooked. I used to regularly but now rarely go rather travel to another chinese.

Delicious Chinese food that you can see being made in the very clean kitchen. Cooking staff happy and smiley as you make your meal in a good time. Good value for money. Some of the items listed on the menu are not available and should be removed.The young staff that take the orders are more interested in their mobile phones they sit on while you stand and wait for service or chatting with their friends. This leads to incorrect orders and longer waiting times. This is also notice EVERY visit as we are regulars, not just a one off. They let the otherwise brilliant service down.

I used it again just yesterday after 2 years could not believe it still 10% added to your bill as the new menu has not been printed .If you believe that it takes 2 years to print unreal.Food basic

This take away was rely good but now it is a hit or a miss. Used to use it a fair bit, i hardly go now maybe three times a year. Used to go once a mouth.

Just eaten set menu for 3 not all the meals were to my taste I just chose those to eat I liked very pleasant food indeed. They guy who owns it is very friendly indeed.

I love mei's. I live in glasgow and the only chinese I love is Mei'sI swear its the best chinese I have ever had in my life and i go back time and time again.I highly recommend their crispy salt and pepper chicken its the best thing since well food was invented. Everytime i visit i cant not have a chinese from this place.

reasonable chinese food at reasonable price but we hav eaten better oriental,okay if you are stopping to refuel.
