Canton in City of London, Westminster

I stumbled upon Canton by chance, and I’m so glad I did! The food was absolutely delicious, with generous portions that left me fully satisfied. The duck was delicious, better than one I had in France, and the fried noodles were equally amazing. The service was excellent; the staff were warm and welcoming, even providing chopsticks which I love using as a self-proclaimed Chinese food aficionado! The restaurant itself was clean and comfortable, making for a pleasant dining experience. Like most places in London, there was a service charge, but it was well worth it for the quality of food and service. I’d definitely recommend Canton and would return if I go to London again.

We all ordered roast duck. I had the roast duck fried noodles, very tasty and good quality meat. My friends were not keen that their duck had bones in it and a lack of knives to cut it however we were all nicely full. Good price, Tsingtao beer along with the nice duck.

Service fee of 12.5% was automatically added and the quality of service didnt correspond to that! Beef was tough. Toilet was horrible, rundown and unclean.

They are trying to serve tables very tightly. I wanted duck, unfortunately it came cold. The manti was nice. The best thing was cold beer. 29 degrees in London today 😀

A lot of low ratings seemingly from people that dont know what to order. Good comfort food with respectable portions. Alcohols a bit of a ripoff but they do good peasants food

What can I say, I like it! Old school charm and calm.

Food was good, slightly better than average. There was basically no customer service and when we got to the end of our meal and received the bill, we had a 12.5% surcharge for tip. We challenged it as we felt the service didn’t warrant a tip, and the menu said “discretionary” surcharge but were forced to pay the tip my the manager. Poorly run establishment, take your money else where, to a place that cares about their customers and has better food.

Food was okay, but the staff asked us to leave immediately after we finished, since next customers were waiting. I think it’s rude and impolite as we were in the middle of conversation.

The food is tasty. Prepared quickly and efficiently. Not everything happened at one time. The room is quite cramped and needs to be refreshed.

Service fee of like 7pounds for what the food was we found uncalled for but nice people and decent chinese a little overpriced but we choose the menu option

The worst place I've ever been to. Service at the lowest possible level. We wanted to go in for a quick dim sum meal, the waiter told us that we had to order at least 2 items (minimum 1 per person) - despite free tables in the entire restaurant!! When we chose the second item, he decided that our bill was too small to show minimal interest and ignored us throughout the entire meal. Additionally, the service was added to the bill, we do not understand why the service amount was added for such an embarrassing level of service. When we asked for the bill, the waiter next to us started counting whether we had given enough cash. We advise against it if you don't want to be judged by the waiter depending on how much you spend!!!

The food tastes average. When ordering, the staff informed us that for each person sitting at the table, everyone had to order a dish for at least £10, regardless of whether they were with children or adults.

Never here again. The food was not good at all and was just warmed up in the microwave and the staff doesn't even bother to ask if everything is okay and just walks past you

Every time I go to London I can't stop going to China Town just to eat the spectacular roast duck at this restaurant and the beef noodles have an incredible flavor. Everything very fresh and tasty. The only downside is that at the end of the bill they give you a percentage that is equivalent to the tip (Gratuity), which really deserves more for the attention and the food, but I think that we would have to choose to leave it to them and not them.

Tuve una cena familiar con mi en este restaurante chino en Chinatown, Londres. Gran error Comida insípida, sosa y claramente lanzada a toda prisa. Sin finura, sin calidad, solo algo para llenar el plato. Factura sobrevalorada con cargos por servicio obligatorio añadidos a escondidas. Para una comida tan mediocre, el precio era escandaloso. Servicio apresurado, sin atención al detalle, y la sensación de ser un turista más de paso. Chinatown es ideal para fotos, pero NO para cenar. ¡Evítalo! Si quieres una mejor experiencia, dirígete a Harrods o Knightsbridge. Sorprendentemente, la comida es mejor y más barato!

Nice restaurant and quiet busy and the portions is good crispy pork rice and wanton soup and good service

Ordered two dishes. A man walked over to the crispy pork and started chopping. He was not wearing any chefs whites just grubby, stained jeans and a dirty, worn out sweat shirt. I was shocked, when I called the manager he was annoyed. He reluctantly walked to the chopping area and waved a folded apron that was disgusting and dirty. I finished the meal but never again.

I visited this restaurant last night with high expectations, but unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. We planned to order drinks and starters, but the server refused to take our order, insisting there was a minimum spend per person. This policy was not mentioned anywhere—no signs, boards, or prior communication. When we questioned it, the server’s attitude was rude and dismissive, making the situation even more uncomfortable. What made the experience worse was the way we were treated—it felt discriminatory, as though we weren’t welcome because we didn’t meet their undefined “standards.” This kind of behavior is unacceptable, especially in the service industry where customer experience should be a priority. I would not recommend this place to anyone. If they have such policies, they need to clearly communicate them upfront, and staff should be trained to handle situations respectfully. It’s disappointing to see such behavior at an establishment that could otherwise have been a nice experience. I hope management takes action to improve their service and address these issues.

Quick place to serve, if you don't grab the plate they will take it away with food, the price is excessive and the worst thing is 20 pounds as a mandatory tip, a shame, oh and the food is nothing special

This place is probably one of the worst restaurants in China town, the biggest tourist trap and serve awful food with bad service not to mention the shop is freezing as they leave the door open. The beef hur-fun/ flat beef dry noodles were okay but the soup noodles were awful as it came with little soup that the noodles absorbed when it was served to us and it was also cold. Avoid this place, biggest tourist trap and waste of money. 2/10

Picked this restaurant by random. Ordered a sweet & sour ribs, pepper & honey eel, a bowl of plain rice and a Olong Tea. Portions were rather small and the taste was average. Damage was Gbp 58 + 15% service charge which was autumatically added onto the bill. The service charge contradicted the service provided & the attitude shown. There were waitress & the senior managers around me as I walked out the door and nobody said a word of bye & thank you. No offence, but there were no Asians dine at that time when I ate there. I do not reccommend this place.

Food was not freshly made it tasted funny ,the quality of the food is way blow average! The service is Extremely rude , we were were rushed and forced to order twice within first 2mins after sitting down as we were closely watched and judged by the waiters ,the waiter were constantly making comments about their customers in Chinese thinking we didn’t understand ;)but we did . As soon as me and my friends finished food the bill was slapped on the table and we were asked to pay with card right away !we kindly asked to allow us a moment but they came right to ask us to pay immediately ,worst experience in China town 食物不新鲜味道差，服务特别差，刚坐下来就被急促推点餐，刚吃就被两次催促买单！别来！

Very bad customer service. Very rude waiters! Whenever we ask for something they gave us a weird attitude not only that after having dinner literally the minute we finished our food they just brought the bill and asked us if we were going to pay with cash or card! If we were told they only give couple of minutes to have the food okay but literally they just let us in and gave us table that’s all! I don’t suggest this place! I also think their food comes from the freezer or something it literally took 2mins to come out!

Ordered 4 noodle dishes and an appetizer. They serve us an aperitif after the meal, great... Otherwise very good and a well-filled plate. Downside: plastic plates and glasses

Went for dinner with colleagues. Service was fast, efficient, attentive & friendly. Food was great & portion sizes more than expected! Highly recommend.

Very expensive. The food was ok, the duck and rice was very dry. Doesn't seem that fresh too. The staff was not that friendly. No smiles whatsoever, and when I said what I want they looked at me like I was crazy and asked me two more times if that's what i want. We felt like we were being watched.

We came here and only wanted to have two hot- sour soups. They told us that this was not enough and that we needed to order more food. They were quite rude. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Gratuity added to bill automatically, but will ask you to leave as soon as you finish eating. Portions small for the price. For non Asians, really. 11.80 for that sad dim sum.

Whilst the service is not the quickest, the food is delicious. I think the other ratings are a bit harsh as the quality is lovely and the taste is great. The prices are about on par with the others in the area and like the others, once eaten you move on fairly quickly - would go back

Waited 20 min for Dim sum. Had to ask for chop sticks, soya. I got an extra beer, but I didn't complain, so that was good.

Always fun when you are served the wrong dish and the waiter tells you it is what you ordered. Maybe the 'hand-pulled' noodles are simply 'hand-pulled' out of a packet.

I ate there with my children and my wife and the service was frankly disastrous, we had to wait 25 minutes for a table watching people with the same number of people pass before us, and the worst part, the food, cold, dry and tasteless one of the worst Chinese restaurants I have ever tried

I recently dined at Canton located right in the heart of London’s Chinatown. The atmosphere felt authentic, and the staff were polite and welcoming throughout our visit. The food was enjoyable with fresh flavours However, there is room for improvement in the presentation and overall taste of a few dishes, which could elevate the experience even more. Despite this, the prices were very reasonable for the quality and location.

Can’t comment on the service or atmosphere as this is based on takeaway but oh my god I’ve never eaten such dry duck in my entire life. Anyone who knows food in London knows to go to the Four Seasons for roast meat, but unfortunately my mom didn’t know and bought a whole duck from here which was £30+. We had it for dinner, didn’t warm it up or anything which would dry it out more. The texture was almost like corned beef - it was SO DRY and also very salty! Almost like the duck was from a few days before and left out. I think this place must be a tourist trap that sells inedible food to people who might not know any better, which is really sad. I would avoid at all costs. Take your hard-earned money and spend it on a good meal.

On Saturday in Chinatown, everywhere is busy including this restaurant, the service did feel rushed, we were pushed into the smaller upstairs room, staff were friendly enough with us, however the server dropped food on the stairs, the food was binned and fresh provide to the table, the food was good, what you'd expect, presentation was standard.

Been going to this place since the 90s. I.love the roast duck noodle soup. This time round ordered the same again but off the bone duck and it wasn't the same as the ones hanging by the window instead the cheap.frozen duck fillet breast I got. How disappointing 😒

Mis pronunciaciones, no ser chino, fueron deliberadamente burladas (como estar de vuelta en la escuela). Obviamente quería que me fuera. Antes de terminar de comer, la cuenta cayó sobre mi mesa. Nunca, nunca, volvería a visitar. Comida Medicore y malditamente cara por lo que apareció. Instalaciones sanitarias aterradoramente básicas.

Solid food, good Cantonese meats and really friendly service

I recommend it! Very tasty. I especially liked the duck with vegetables! We asked for a place inside the restaurant, it is quiet and calm there!

Very accommodating to the younger members of our party, making a dish plainer for them. Often meals for children aren't given the same care and attention as adult food, but here I have to say the meals served to our kids looked more appetising than ours, with plenty of flourishes. All of the meals were delicious and were served quickly.

Was slightly put off by the previous reviews, but was not prepared to pay the ripoff prices of other restaurants in Soho. The food we had was excellent and plentiful. Had really friendly, attentive service and did not feel rushed at all. No complaints, good food at a very reasonable price.

Awful experience We found flies in the food And they also forced us to pay the gratuity tip. Upon saying no, they acted rude with us infornt of other customers. Very humiliating. Terrible place to go to.

Went here one afternoon with my wife. It was the worst dimsum we’ve ever eaten. It has a hygiene rating of four but we saw a waitress picking her nose with quite some determination and handling “clean” cutlery and dishware at the same time. Disgusting. Their service was decent and we sat outside so the atmosphere wasn’t bad, but the food…dear lord. The fact that there were barely any Chinese customers was a red flag we should have paid closer heed to. It was also far more expensive than it was worth.

The food was simply uneatable. Don’t ever go there. Worse food I ever had, zero quality.

In the middle of Chinatown, large place with a terrace and several floors. Options for small and large groups. Very varied menu, generous portions at affordable prices, they serve quickly and they brought the order also quickly. Also, one person in the group was allergic to nuts and they helped us a lot when choosing options without them. To make a difference, they took away our plates and cleared the table in too much of a hurry as well.

Dry Beef ho fun noodles a must try don’t miss out on that, the beef was very tender and the texture of noodles was so satisfying! We also had the prawn dumplings , choy sum and Szechwan shrimp.

The more I eat at any authentic chinese restaurant/spot, the more I start disliking it. But, for this place I would just describe the food as bland. It’s good if you are too hungry/starving as they will serve everything hot within 10mins.

I would give it a 3.5 The service was good, they served quickly and as for the food, some dishes were not great like the pork with rice. But the noodles we ordered and the soup were good. The price is good for London, you eat well for a reasonable price.

Disgusting food. Rice with pork placed with the hand and reheated in the microwave. In Albacete I have tried better Chinese.

Food is good but there's a cover charge or minimum order which they don't specify while you enter the restaurant, which is an unfair practice and confuses people.

Terribly bad food - tasteless and not hygienic. My daughter was really sick the whole evening and had a stomach ache. The waiter didn't address the complaint, he seemed used to it.

It was a nice experience for us. Food was unarguably the best. It was mouthwatering. Large portions. As a person who has tried authentic Chinese cuisine, I can vouch for this. Staff could improve their attitude but other than that, the food was great. Can't comment on other reviews but I would visit here again.

My first time to visit Canton since the lockdown and I was glad to find the same quality. I had seafood fried noodle which was plentiful and delicious. I was surprised that they charged 15% for service - I think it should be 12.5% for this kind of casual eatery. The staff who served me were all pleasant but some others talked loudly on the floor.

We saw the reviews and weren't sure, but it looked busy and reasonably priced, so gave it a go. No regrets. Food was delicious, service prompt but not overbearing. We had a 1/4 duck shredded at the table, nice cold beers, super hot (as in temperature) beef ho fun noodles. All excellent. I'm sure like anywhere it has off days.. but today was not one

Terrible, terrible, the good is cold, not authentic and bad quality. The restaurant is since 1955, the dood is too. The porkbelly was disgusting, the kingprawn noodles were cold and not much flavour. People in the uk are superfriendly but NOT in this restaurant. Very unfriendly and rude. Do not make the Same misstake as we did. Do not eat there, it is a waist of your money and your belly.

I can't recommend this place. The food was acceptable, but it was easy overpriced for the portion size. All of us were still hungry after ordering 8 dishes if food. The service was lacking. We asked for tap water but the easier NEVER brought it to us. Way, way, way, overpriced. My suggestion is to try one of the restaurants that are, likely better, that are not in the touristy main part of chinatown.

This pub is a disaster. Food fried in old oil. Tasteless dumplings. Prices like in the best restaurants. Avoid it, I advise against it with all my heart!

Brought family there for the late afternoon lunch after shopping and I had placed an order of one Singapore vermicelli and two House special fried noodle with mixed meat. The server that took the order was quite blunt when I specified the difference between vermicelli and noodle. When our food came , I argued about the House special was not Noodles but vermicelli, the server was quite confused but pretty sure playing the ignorance about not knowing what was the difference between noodle and vermicelli. I was not happy with the way we were being treated. We all have been in the past dinning at this restaurant, and this is the first time that staff and advertising one thing on their menu but serving customers the something else. I would not recommend eating out at this restaurant as this is a rip off, as they are selling rice vermicelli for noodle that is made out of flour.

The food was ok but they rushed us to finish, asked us to leave because someone else booked the sit and made us pay without asking if we wanted a coffee or something else. They even try to take away unfinished beer. Strongly unprofessional and unpleasant experience. Don't go here.

Wrong dish was brought out, but I didnt want to risk returning it. Staff attitude unpleasant and the restaurant smelt of drains. Better options nearby.

Food was completely tasteless and overpriced. It looked lovely when it arrived, however everything was completely tasteless. We also ordered egg fried rice which arrived a good 5 minutes after the main dishes, meaning they were left to go cold. The rice was plain boiled rice, completely over boiled with a couple of chunks of egg. So disappointing. We paid £55 and what a complete waste of money it was. Service was ok for the most part but nothing to write home about.

The place was not busy but the waitress plonked down my main course whilst I was in the middle of my soup. The wonton soup was ok, not good or bad. The beef with crispy noodles was poor with tough beef and tasteless source. This was the first Chinese I ever visited in London back in the 80s but today it is easy to find better.

Food was good and the service. Place was small luckily we had a place inside not out.
