By far the worst Chinese food I’ve had in my entire life all across the world. My family agreed. We regret not going to another restaurant in China Town.

Bad atended I just don’t like that much so I think it’s a little scam and the prices didn’t cheap but a bit good . Just a little more clean and a 3 ✰

I am a vegetarian and I clearly ordered vegetable gyoza. Instead they gave me chicken dumplings which I unknowly ate thinking that they were the dumplings I had ordered. The waiter had clearly heard me as she repeated my order back to me. I only found out at the end when they brought back the bill which stated on the receipt that i had ordered chicken when i had in fact not. The staff did not inform us or make us aware of any changes to the menu concerning the vegetable dumplings and there was no indication that our order had been changed. As a vegetarian I have deliberately made the decision to stop consuming meat and due to this error that the canton kitchen staff have made, my personal morals and decision to stop eating meat has been violated.

In Chinatown with literally dozens of restaurants, how do you chose one? My decision was to look for one with roasted ducks hanging in the window. Canton may not have the best food in Chinatown, but it sure worked for a quick lunch. Our waiter informed us there were two types of duck on the menu: a crispy duck served with hoisin sauce and pancakes: and the simple chopped roasted duck in the window/ Our 1/4 duck roast duck was a delicious choice. My sweetheart ordered a nostalgic choice of 'shrimp toast' that she hadn't seen on a menu for years. It was a blast from the past in a restaurant that has been here since 1955. Our 'fried rice' was bland and tasteless but worked well to absorb the sauce from the duck. A plate of 'fried chicken with vegetables' turned out to be a stir fried dish in a brown sauce. Not bad, but unexciting. Canton hit the right buttons for a quick lunch in London's Chinatown for us.

Chose this restaurant as busy and a place where you looked likely to get served quickly. Nothing fancy about the restaurant but the food was plentiful albeit a little expensive. If you are in hurry, then this is the place! Includes a service charge which is becoming the norm everywhere.

Went there with 3 friends and all of us were disappointed to say the least. The roast pork (char siu) was very tough and inedible - it was definitely not freshly made and was just reheated. The roast duck was fatty and the wonton soup was greasy. To top that, the table stank of wet rang and the whole restaurant looked unclean. With so many restaurants to choose from, do not bother going to this one!

Visite en janvier 2023, la cuisine est acceptable, mais le service gâche absolument tout ! Ils ont un espèce de jeune grand serveur qui est juste détestable. Aucun mot, pas un sourire, il jette les plats sur la table sans un mot ou un regard, et fuit ailleurs. Si ce garçon n'aime pas son métier, qu'il fasse autre chose, mais je lui rappelle qu'il fait un métier d'accueil et de service, alors fais au moins semblant de sourire. J'imagine que si il encore la malgré son incorrection, c'est qu'il doit être le fils du parton... Intolérable un tel service, alors que la rue regorge de restaurants !! Les toilettes sont très limites a coté des poubelles et de la cuisine...

I went there last night with my friend for some dim sum. I asked twice the man who serve us if they freshly made, he said yes. Well they not, dim sum they serve are frozen and not even made there you can get exactly the same from supermarket. I know I because I buy them.So I payed £62 for dinner which can cost me £3.50 if I get from supermarket. They try to convince me Im wrong but I even told them the brand they using so finally they admitted the dim sum is frozen and I'm right. Never again go to chines restaurant for dim sum as long they not making front of me. RIP Canton.

The staff were very polite, helpful and kind. The food was so tasty, the roast duck with rice was amazing, certainly will eat it again. The price was set to a good budget. Definitely will come here again!

Wir waren über Mittag hier, sehr geschäftige Zeit. Die Speisekarte wirkte ansprechend. Die Bedienung war aber unfreundlich und die Tische nicht wirklich sauber. Auch die Toilette war nicht sauber und auf dem Weg dorthin war es überall schmuddelig. Ich will nicht wissen, wie die Küche aussieht. Das Essen war auch nicht gut. Die Teigtaschen waren richtig wässerig innendrin. Werde garantiert nie wieder dort essen.

Pésimo servicio, maltrato en general para poner unos ejemplos no te ponen vaso con los refrescos solo una pajita, no tienen comité era para el vino blanco o el rosada. Oooh te trae la cuenta sin haberla pedido para que te marches, y las malas caras del personal no tienen precio.

The staff were very kind, helpful and understanding. The food was amazing! Tasty and authentic! Prices are reasonable for London.

Went in today to get pork and duck with rice takeout. Was the the worst chinese food I have ever had. Very full container of rice with very small pieces of meat, no gravy and awful taste. I have been buying food from that place since 1982 under the old proprietors. They were very good. But today I have had a very bad experience and would recommend another establishment as this one, in my opinion, is the pits. I do hope that the Trading standards people pay them a visit. Also they keep you waiting outside so that you are unable to see what's going on, cpmpared to the last proprietors Folks, be aware. You have been told. ps. I live about twenty miles away.

Never again, walked into this small but friendly waitress restaurant, couldn't believe what I saw - A chef sleeping on a chair! I was with my family of 4, my children was laughing. We turned around and walked straight out. It was a sigh to behold. If the management allows that to happen, what will the food be like - no hope I imagine...

I reviewed this place back in 2016 and after a family day out in London, id told people I was with about this amazing Restaurant id been to a few years ago. We mad our way to Chinatown and found Canton, it looked pretty much the same as I remembered it. We chose Duck, Chilli Beef, Ribs, Aubergine and a few more bits. It was disgusting, my kids are very polite and didn't say a thing as they tried to eat this horrible selection of food. So disappointing after walking past so many fine looking eateries. Wasting £85 was only the start of our problems. We have all woken up today with stomach issues, im not saying it was Canton but as it was the only thing we ate, come to your own conclusions.

Avoid at all costs, I cannot describe in words how truly bad this place is but I’ll give it a go. Imagine walking through china town surrounded by top Chinese restaurant after top Chinese restaurant, then you get to canton, a truly opportunistic venture pretending to be something good but just a cheap imitation (China’s specialty). However this knockoff wouldn’t even pass for a fake. The service is like the service you receive at the dentist, lots of pain and discomfort and you pay for the privilege. Surely that must be the worst thing but alas you finally manage to order and the food arrives. I like the is it/isn’t it game you play at a Chinese where you question whether it’s maybe not the meat you ordered or some kind of dog in actual fact but I’m this instance I would have welcomed a char grilled labradoodle in the place of the “pork” dish I received it was cold, stale, tasteless and without redemption. The entire meal was a let down from start to finish and I assume even the prawn crackers I ordered but didn’t receive would have been in keeping with the current expectations. All in all this is a true horror show of an establishment and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, if you find yourself in china town starving hungry after fasting for months on end and the only place open is canton? Find a dog turd and snack on that to get you by.

Great duck and good noodles. Not a great drinks selection but what you need. Service as expected. Would absolutely recommend

So the menu's are a bit dog eared and the waiters don't treat you like your long lost brother but the food is most certainly freshly cooked and good quality. Portions are good, prices are right for the location. Would definitely recommend.

Service unfriendly. The food smelled very unpleasant and tasted miserable. We returned the full plates and the waiter left it un-commented. I can advise against the visit of the restaurant with a clear conscience.

The overall appearance of the restaurant is not pleasant. However, when my family was looking for a place to eat, someone thought we should give it a try. From the get go, the attitude of the waiters is awful. They serve you almost unwilling to serve you at all, making you feel unwelcome. The cutlery and glasses were dirty, and when we asked to have them changed they blamed it on the washer and said they all looked the same way. Funny, how this isn't the norm for most respectable places. The food was sub-par at best. Nothing tasted fresh. For example: the duck was bony, and cold and unsavory. Quite an unpleasant sight. The only positive was the beer. It was alright. I wouldn't dine here again if it was free. Do yourself a favor and keep looking for a better spot.

We have visited Chinatown many times but have also come in from the other end. Approaching from South end we came across Canton. What an absolute joy, friendly staff and outstanding, amazingly tasty food. We will go back there every time now.

Fui con mi sobrina, para su almuerzo de cumpleaños. Tomamos arroz frito con huevo, fideos de arroz de Singapur, pollo con salsa de frijoles negros, pato con jengibre y cebolletas, y Choi con ajo. Aparte del hecho de que pedimos demasiado, era encantador, y lo más importante es que mi sobrina lo disfrutó.No es un restaurante particularmente lujoso, pero la comida es buena y eso es lo único que importa.

With so many choices this restaurant is defo worth a visit. Average prices and quick service. Portion size good, not excessive probs 150% size of normal takeaway.

It looked good from the outside but we are all disappointed. Service was very quick and accurate. Decent helpings but the food is nothing special if I am honest. A little improvement and it could be good. Ultimately a disappointment.

Walking round chins town. Could not walk any more. So stopped at Canton, looked busy so thought ok. 4 dishes, 2 drinks £61. No mention of a 10% service charge. Food was like had been sitting around for days! One very gumpy waiter. Gutted we handed over good money yo them. Recommend avoid!

We ordered Canton Specialty Rice, which the waitress recommend as a vegetable and meat dish with rice. In fact, that was carelessly chopped pieces of meet and seafood with a bit of green stems and of course rice. The dish didn't look good and tasted even worse. It looked like leftovers from other dishes throw into a bland sauce and served like a dish. Only the rice was good. I do not recommend.

Around 6 years ago i've been to this restaurant and this time I revisited with my boyfriend and cousin for our last night in London. Firstly the menu was sellotaped as pages were cut, ripped and very old. My boyfriend asked for us some tap water but the waitress must have not understood for all of us and she brought on the table just one glass. They were rushing us to order from the moment we sat down and I had to tell them three times that we are not ready yet. After we ordered they served us the first plate (spring rolls) with a completely chipped plate (it was literally chipped all around the whole plate, I mean... health and safety?). We did not enjoy our food as all of them were blant and nothing special for the price we had to pay. At the end when we asked for our bill the waiter told us that there's a minimum of £15 which I found very weird. I asked why is that as I have never experienced this in any other restaurants in London and he replied to me that there is a sign outside saying that (which I checked when we were leaving and there was no sign stating anything like that). We refused to pay for the service charge as it was very poor in combination with the very bad chipped plate. The waiter replied back to us that if we don't have money not to come back..

Canton was our first stop in London. I had heard amazing things about ChinaTown in London, and arrived just in time for lunch. The man next to me was enjoying a dish of sliced duck and rice, it looked delicious so I ordered the same. It was encouraging to see the fresh duck hanging from the windows, only to be pulled down when ready to be indulged. The duck was perfectly cooked and dressed with a delicious brown sauce. The rice closed the meal perfectly soaking up the leftovers.

Stopped for a quick lunch. We both went for a chicken main meal. Whilst the rice and other sides were nice the chicken was one of the worst I have had. It was fatty and had a slimy texture - inedible. Would not visit again

He estado utilizando este restaurante por más de 10 años y aunque ha tenido sus altos y bajos, ha proporcionado algunos momentos de risa (el embudo de plástico/restaurante tubo sistema de comunicación cocina quedará conmigo toda mi vida, este fue en el noughties! ), algunos son alucinantes (no diría que), buenas comidas y algunos no tan buenos. Las buenas compensan los no tan buenos, así que después de la prolongada cerca nos arriesgamos a unos 4 o 5 meses. Fue uno de los no tan buenos días, así que decidimos dejarlo para un poco como esto ha sucedido antes y ha sido corregido.

Pretty old school, possibly not best looking restaurant but got great food to offer. Seafood is fresh and well preparation prepared. Dish for 2 came to £20

My husband had fond memories of this restaurant during his uni days and wanted to come back here to eat again. They have renovated the restaurant. We asked the waitress if the owners are the same as 30 years ago and she said yes. I'm not sure if she really understood what my husband said...because this restaurant was probably once owned by southern Chinese and they spoke Cantonese. Now they are staffed and probably owned by Mandarin speaking mainland Chinese. Nothing wrong with that but the food quality has dropped badly, and they couldn't even chop the meat up properly. When you see one of your favourite Cantonese restaurants staffed and owned by Mandarin speaking people, don't expect the food to be the same as before. The name of this restaurant is after all Canton!

This is an authentic Chinese... no frills but proper food well prepared and cooked. In fact as good as any Chinese I've had.

Me and an averagely good friend of mine (I’ve not known him that long) visited this below par establishment. Upon being seated amongst the riffraff upstairs we decided it was not for us. We had our beers costing £7.30. They had the audacity to charge a 50pence service charge...obviously this was not paid. Their egg fried rice was as dry as their service. After finishing our beers they had the nerve to empty the bin next to us. Appalling. I will never, and I mean never, visit this poor excuse for a canteen again.

Fast service, but there again there were only another 6 people eating. My friend's noodle dish was ok but deemed 'nothing special' and my duck was not very hot with flabby, fatty skin. In fairness, the duck flavour was good but it was too greasy. Maybe this restaurant is better for dinner. Jasmine tea came in a very small pot given there were 2 of us and we had to ask for more rather than being asked. The bill came to £19.80 and if the food had been as good as the last time I visited it would have been good value, as it was it was just average. The Canton takes credit cards. For some reason I can't click to enter the number of stars for service - 4, food - 3, value - 3.

Yo solía cenar aquí todo el tiempo hace 20 años y me encantó su pato asado (entonces). Ha sido un largo tiempo y debe haber cambiado de manos o de gestión aunque la decoración cutre y frente ha quedado prácticamente el mismo. Volví recientemente como un viaje por el carril de la memoria y estaba muy decepcionado. Pedí un simple pato arroz y fue rick simplemente terrible. Probablemente el peor que he tenido en mucho tiempo. La piel era clara, no era crujiente y lo servían con una salsa de zapallo. No es lo que esperaba. Solía venir con una salsa de soja endulzada. Este material fue simplemente zapallo poco apetecibles.

Siempre vienen a este lugar para mejor tripes, chipirones, lengua de pato. No dejes que un poco desaliñada interior. Hemos comido en mayor ocasiones y la comida estaba deliciosa. Una de las principales razones para ir a Chinatown.

The food was lovely up until we found long black hair in our choisum. Put me off the rest of the meal and started wondering about the hygiene in the kitchen. Squid was cooked perfectly though. I cannot return here.

Having eaten here last November I decided to return with three friends. Nothing had really changed, same menu, basic decor, etc. We chose the £14 per head set menu for 4 and added the mixed starters option at £6 each. Service was okay and the food arrived quickly, nice and warm and all very tasty. Definitely worth a try for a reasonably priced meal when in the Soho area.

Bar de calidad media bien, donde la comida tiene un buen sabor. Probamos los rollitos mini y bastante buenos, luego unos dim sum con bastante sabor y por ultimo un cuarto de pato que aunque con la salsa estaba bueno , sin ella estaba bastante seco. Lo más destacable es que la cocacola valia 1,50 libras pero una lata de cerveza 3 libras, justo el doble. Bien, pero iría a probar otros muchos restaurantes que hay en chinatown.

Crispy duck was well prepared but sat in the kitchen for too long as it was lukewarm when served. Place was recommended by a local who frequents it often at lunch. We sat for dinner. Hoping this was a bad night and will return again to see if service improves.

Went here today for lunch, and stood in the doorway for 10 minutes as hostess seated people who came after me before seating me. I had to ask her for a table before I got seated. Then had to wait a while to even get a menu. I ordered the wonton noodle soup which was quite good. Waited a really long while between asking for the bill and finally receiving it, which seemed silly since I only ordered one thing. Was hit with service charge which I thought laughable for the level of service I got (even for a Chinese restaurant) in a relatively quiet part of the day. I haven't been to other restaurants in London chinatown so I'm not sure if this is the norm but I definitely won't be coming back here.

Been going her for years now .Ok does not look much but the food is spot on and served quickly.Basically a no frills Chinease restaurant we have never been disappointed with quality or service. Also 4 of us ate for £50.00 that included mains big portions drinks and a dish of crispy pork to share which is fantastic.Service charge included in bill.

I went in today to order half roast duck for takeaway. When I got home there was only 3 pieces that had meat and the rest was just fat, skin and bones! I phoned them up and the guy just laughed nothing he can do. They charged me £11.15 for that! Total Rip of Merchants stay away.

When for a Saturday night meal with my husband before going to the theatre. Chose a set menu starting with soup, then duck, followed by four dishes and rice. They were are delicious. The portions were good and the price was very reasonable.

Tasty food, very good location for tourists. Usually go every time in London. Can't complain at all!!!

Perhaps we were unlucky. We have been coming here for years. Today we did not recognise the staff or the chef in the window. We had Char Sui pork which tasted awful and sweet and sour pork which wad really hard and crunchy. Will never go back.

Ristorante a buffet All You Can Eat all'interno di Chinatown, presenta prezzi non eccessivi, con uno staff disponibile. La grande pecca però è la scarsa varietà di prodotti offerti e la qualità che varia da piatto in piatto, legato anche ad una mancanza di informazione su che tipo di piatto fosse presente nel vassoio.Come detto, non è niente di che, pratico per una cena per abbuffarsi senza troppe pretese.

Took the family there on Sunday. Tired looking restaurant with off putting (offal) in the window. That said, service was excellent, friendly and efficient. Restaurant was packed with Oriental people - a good sign!We had 3 very good vegetarian dishes and a duck in black bean sauce. Although the duck was tasty there were some unfortunate chewy bits in it. Hence a potential 4 star rating is brought down to a 3.

This is an old style "no frills" place.I had a delicious meal of Soy Chicken breast and a mixed vegetable chow mien with crispy noodles all great, particularly the chicken which was really tender. cost inc tea and service approx £15

A new year so another visit to Canton and we weren't disappointed. The usual Chinese food, the usual good standard. It's true this is a fairly basic Chinese restaurant, there are no fine touches but it's good value and the dishes are good. I recommend a visit if the above appeals

We ate with our family of 4 children. We wanted a quick, straight forward Chinese meal before seeing a show in London. This isn't a restaurant for a long romantic meal. But the meal was good, and reasonably priced - and with quick service. Just what we needed.

Quizá no acerté con mi elección de platos, pero para ser un sitio tan recomendado por guías y listas de comidas baratas, me pareció un chino sin nada especial y sus precios tampoco están tirados.

Mister Kong's in Lisle Street has closed. We have wondered which Chinese style restaurant would replace that iconic venue. We have now found it with Canton in Newport Place. The service & speed was 100%. Ribs in salt & garlic is often the matrix our entourage work to. Superb. Another lot ordered. Duck, pork, beautifully wokked vegetables and most of the trimmings. Since our visit on Wednesday, 7th December, we have distributed a load on their business cards. This is a cafe style operation which quite suits us. Licensed & the Tsing Tao beers were cold to perfection. This will now be our regular haunt.
