No Star Review We would give no stars if possible. Ordered food and was told to sit in back by the conservatory leading to garden. However, it was then that a very very large group of locals were allowed to play their own music in the area where you ate your dinner. They were allowed to control their own music and they also controlled the volume. Once dinner was served they then proceeded to sing and dance around people that were trying to eat. We came out with indigestion and said never again. The landlord was fully aware of what was going on but obviously didn’t care, shame as we would have spent £50 per night in there as we were staying next door for the week, obviously that £300 was spent elsewhere. Called here tonight and the place is almost empty. Cannot understand it. We had the fried chicken £9.95. 3 pieces with 2 sides. Freshly made! Not out of deep freeze. Come on Tollerton. Support your local businesses or you won’t have them. Yes the place is a bit mis matched but the food is exceptional. The owner is really trying here. Get a group together and give it a go.

We were staying at the caravan park and after a day out we tried to find a pub serving food at 3pm. Didn’t think to try on our doorstep but so glad we did. The food was delicious three different selections and each one outstanding, the staff were friendly and welcoming. A perfect location meant we could walk back to our accommodation too. Thank you !

There was one very nice man doing everything in this pub so it took a long time to get any service. It was not busy when we went but it took over 45 minutes for the food to come. We had looked on the website before going and the prices looked very reasonable but sadly were much higher on the actual menus. This was annoying. The portions were big and meals were good but too long to wait.

The food is UNREAL!! Had many a dish in here as we are on the caravan park. Not one meal has failed to amazing me. Absolutely outstanding every time. Today we had the beef Sunday lunch. Loads of beef, yorkshire and potatoes. Separately came the veg. Peas, cauliflower cheese, carrots, courgettes broccoli and the best of all….. red cabbage with a unique sweet flavour that will make me go for lunch every Sunday. If you haven’t tried this place, please do… food is fabulous!

Amazing food. We had the Jamaican curry and steak and ale pie and both were outstanding. Lots of tender meat and very tasty. No complaints whatsoever and will definitely be visiting again next time we are in the area.

Stayed at nearby caravan site and after a long journey didn't feel like cooking so walked the 5 mins to this pub. Warm welcome, small menu but varied and reasonably priced. Food cooked to order, decent sized portions and very tasty.

Really nice food with great atmosphere from the staff from this pub. Deffo recommend you coming here if you come to York. So laid back and have music in the background which makes it amazing

Superb pub very friendly staff, but unfortunately totally un dog friendly, went in on a very hot day with my dog asked for water for my dog got refused totally unacceptable when the pub is on a dog friendly caravan park, 5 minutes over the railway bridge a totally different experience dog came before us, treats and water before the beer, highly recommended the black horse if you have a dog, we were extremely disappointed with the station inn.

Stayed at the caravan site for a week and ate here on first night with intention of going to different places. After first meal didn't eat anywhere else and tried pretty much everything on the menu. Without fail everything we ate was delicious and the staff were lovely.

Started to go here again after many years visiting when it was a chinese . Good atmosphere, very friendly staff, good food and good portions. I liked the layout of the menu all the types of dishes on separate pages making it easy to choose. called on a very busy night but the service was excellent. Will be going again.

We had visited many times before when Chan was running the Chinese and stayed at Tollerton park caravan site at the rear. After Chan died suddenly we had not visited , whilst we were in the area decided to give it another try , upon arrival we were greeted warmly by the owners Tony & Chris who were very friendly ,we were told of the carvery on Sunday , @ £9.50 each so we decided to give it a try .What a surprise the food was of generous proportions and cooked to perfection will definitely not be our last visit . Have enjoyed many a meal here when it was a Chinese/Cantonese restaurant and didn’t think it could be beaten for the standard of food. I couldn’t be more wrong. I cannot give enough praise for the service/ staff and food, it is by far the nicest meal we have ever had, there will be plenty more visits in the future.

We visited this pub on the first night of our stay at the adjoining caravan park. The food was plentiful and delicious in a lovely setting as well as being good value. The hospitality was also excellent. Would thoroughly recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here tonight. Food was lovely, we had the green Thai chicken curry with rice and noodles, well cooked and very tasty. Staff were really nice, cheerful and welcoming.

Just popped in the first night of our holiday for one quick drink a lovely atmosphere went and sat outside as the garden is very lovely and the chef came out to have a chat to us this is why I love the north people always friendly menu tools good but was not able to go back in for a meal just takeaway

A group of 40 "dropped in" when our coach did not arrive to meet us at the station. This pub appears a bit tired, but the one barman was welcoming and coped manfully with the influx, so deserves 5* for effort!

Went for a drink on Sunday 9th and enjoyed it had a good chat with the locals. Had dinner there on the following night and the food was very good big portions not much room for my ale after.A lovely pub and very nice people easy to get on with. Definitely go back if I am up that way again. Tony even offered to drive us back to our hotel if the wife was drinking which is very nice of him.thank for the offer.

We went to try the new pub in the village. I was dining with a friend and didn't want to cause a fuss and so didn't complain. However we didn't eat our meals, my lamb was raw and my friends meal was awful. I sadly cannot recommend this place. I would return for a drink, but would not eat here again.

While visiting the area we went out to eat and came across this place after a recommendation from a local. Nothing is to much trouble for the Landlord. He prepared our meals and came out and had a chat with us. Nothing was to much trouble. The food was excellent and a very good price. Tony has been in the pub trade for many years and is certainly showed in this very well ran pub. Thanks. Will come again when next up your way.

This is no longer a Chinese restaurant. Have just returned from a most memorable carvery sunday lunch. Staff very friendly and the food is just fantastic. Will most definitey return and highly recommend this place for sunday lunch.

The station having just been bought by new owners have just opened their restaurant serving good pub grub been there today for for their Sunday carvery and could not fault it the meat was superb great staff great food will go far

The station inn has been renovated and taken over by an adorable couple. They serve great British food. Sunday carvery is to die for. Myself my husband and 2 boys had Sunday carvery and it was delicious my 2yr old asked for more he enjoyed it so much. The also accommodated my eldest who is gluten free. We have a caravan on the site of the station inn as it's now called fair to say this is our new caravan local. Thanks everyone we will be back. X

Visited here to order Chinese food. Only to find out from the new landlord that the Chinese side has closed. At present it is a pub with a new kitchen going in very soon I was informed. Have posted this to help future customers. It is a cosy pub right now.

Called in again for a takeaway as some friends called around on spec. They were very busy, but didn't have to wait too long even though it was a Saturday night. Food was fantastic as normal

Un gran no-no! Nos dejó de ir y sólo fuimos hace una semana porque había sido invitado por amigos. La comida era fresca, caliente y absolutamente precioso. Tenían un banquete y tengo que decir que parecía divino y realmente lo disfruté! Mi curry de verduras era precioso y mi marido me aseguró su curry era también muy bueno. Las patatas fritas y fideos fueron tanto duda fresco! A UN decente diría yo. Para el propietario. . Si estás leyendo esto, por favor tome nota, los clientes saben cuando estás corto cambiando ellos! The worst egg fried rice I've ever had, grey vege, and my meal tasted old, real let down , I won't be coming back. This place has gone downhill definitely.

Visited last weekend on a caravan club rally about 26 of us went for a pre booked meal the service and atmosphere was brilliant and the food exceptional traditional Cantonese starters seaweed spring rolls ribs etc then duck pancakes with 4 mains and rice to follow all served hot and sizzling fantastic night thanks to all involved

Myself and my wife decided to go out for Sunday tea and went to canton Station Inn tollerton ,easingwold we been before and this was our 3rd visit we never booked and walked straight in was greeted quickly and friendly .There was a young guy there new so he was a bit nervous but as it was quiet and relaxing it never bothered us we had prawn cocktail for starters and it was delicious very tasty and more than 3 prawns like you get from most in a small glass !! We had a plate full of it lashes of sauce and salad too very nice then we both chose a meal each and shared our food with a glass of proseco it was fantastic food very very tasty and we struggle to eat it all so well done to the staff .One minor complaint that is please get someone to sort your garden out its a nice room but looking at weeds outside a little tlc would help in the garden .

Went here with my daughter, son in law and Granddaughter to celebrate her getting her Degree (First class with honours). We had some finger food and beers, all very good. Very friendly pub. Well worth a visit.

We have always use the take away service in the past.As it was a birthday celebration, we decided to eat at the restaurant.The service was good...the food superb ..all large portions at great prices and very tasty.A meal for 4 adults...including starters and 6 pints came to around £75....we even left with doggy bags as we could not finish it all....very busy..but service greatRevisited during the week for a take away...just as good!!Even the vegan in our party was happy!!!!

We went on Saturday night early evening and the restaurant was quiet when we arrived. We were shown straight to our table and the three young men serving on issued us with the menus and our drink order taken. The starters and drinks duly arrived and were lovely. Our main courses then took nearly if not over an hour to appear, and we had to catch the attention of the staff for more drinks. The food when it arrived was lovely, so no complaints there. However, the dining room was filling up and there didn't appear to be much of a delay for some diners, whereas for others such as ourselves we had quite a wait, There appeared to a lot of focus on take out meals and this might account for the delay, so something for the management to be aware of if they choose. It is the little things that often make a night for guests, so, for the serving staff, keep an eye on customers drinks and offer rather than wait to be summoned etc. As for any delays with the food, this might be as we had ordered something that does take longer to prepare. If that is the case, then let the customers know so they are prepared and can choose to wait or re order. Having said all of this the food was lovely, the staff friendly and wiling and the environment is good (though the tables are quite narrow with the heaters and large plates), so well worth going and we would certainly go back. Never had a take out, but if they as good as dining in then I would say it's worth travelling a few miles for it. Enjoy.

Food is always plentiful, in fact large portions! Always tasty, we have been many times. Drink is reasonably priced. You can eat in the restaurant or take food away. Small bar area which is often busy but nice atmosphere, friendly.

We've been frequenting this restaurant on a regular basis travelling from York for the past 10 years and the quality of the food has always remained consistent. The food is always fresh and the portions are very generous ( they will even tub it up for you if you cannot manage to eat it all at the time) .... we would recommend the set-menus as there is plenty to share. It's also very well priced. Highly recommend if you want good quality Chinese food in a comfortable pub/restaurant style setting.

the station inn is just at the entrance to a caravan park we were staying on(it is not part of the park which a really nice site)so a short walk to the inn,on entrance is very nice a few customers were in having a drink and past the the time of day with us.after studying the menu ordered food to takeaway .spare ribs,house spacial chow mein .chips .back at our caravan we were ready for a good meal looked good big portions but what a let down food was very bland mater of fact had no taste at all very disappointed.talking to some other people the next day they told not to go as at was not very good ,to late i said.would not recommend it. should have checked trip-advisor (bernard f) said just about the same as me

a little gem! Very reasonably priced and as it says on the menu "Yorkshire sized portions" we eat here frequently as we love it and are never disappointed.

The road was flooded at Ella bridge , so went the long way round. Ordered the green pepper & blackbean sauce, ( very bland, anaemic ) , chow mien was similar , although the sweet & sour was nice, more flavour than expected. Fried rice was again tasteless , no seasoning, no colour, no taste.Really wanted to like this place, but it's not worth the effort of a detour yo get their. Better going into York and finding a Chinese restaurant that delivers taste.

The Canton Station is is so good that I'm tempted to keep it a secret from other diners, but i can't be so unfair as to deny you the opportunity to experience the owner, Mr. Shan's marvellous cuisine. The food is always excellent and the portions extremely generous almost to the point of being too much for the average appetite. He sells a great French white wine at only £11.50 for a full litre which is something that I have never experienced in any other UK eating place. Mr. Shan has an insight into everything and can hold you in a rapid fire conversation full of homespun wisdom.If you don't care for the formality of the conservatory restaurant, you can have a beer and a meal in the bar at a very reasonable cost. This is a place that deserves your business, unpretentious, excellent value and swift pleasant service. We go there whenever we can and have never been disappointed.

Been here about 10 times now love it the best Chinese ever love it!! We go here at every opportunity. I love Chinese food and have been to many places and I have never found a place with such a warm welcoming and great food that always fills you up and they let you take it home as well if there's any left over so our lil doggy is ways In for a treat when we get home also they are not over priced like many Chinese's in this area which is always a bonus, I recommend anyone to come try it here and you will never go to anywhere else it is amazing!!!

My wife & I have been visiting this restaurant over 4 or 5 years and to date have not had a poor meal, its always been fresh and piping hot, and if you don't eat all you have ordered ask for it to be put in a take-away carton to finish off later, yes it could do with a good clean and the garden could do with an good gardener, but all in all worth a visit. Would recommend a visit.

Having been disappointed with the restaurant side previously, I thought I would try the take away side, we have now been several times and the take aways have been consistently good. I can't explain why the difference, but for take away meals it is very good.

My boyfriend has visited a few times in the past with his family and so thought we would try it. I am very funny about Chinese's and the meat they use but everything tasted fine, the duck was super! Portion sizes are huge and it is very cheap! Duck for 2, 2 mains and 2 rice for £25 can't complain. The place itself is very dated and not the cleanest but it is ok. Would visit again but would stick to the more popular items on the menu.

This restaurant receives very wide variations of reviews but for us it was ideal. Initially we were only the second couple in the dining room at 7.15pm on Sinday evening but there was a steady stream of customers at the take away section. The restaurant gradually filled until there were half a dozen tables. We chose one of the banquets for 2 with a reasonably priced bottle of wine. The three dishes were plentiful with no shortage of prawns, chicken and beef. The service was prompt and very polite as you might expect on a not very busy evening.

We have used this a number of times as a take away. The staff are always very friendly but the food is average. It is only laziness that prevents us going further and finding something better.

Staying at the caravan park next door we gave this place a try as it was my 40th birthday and I really fancied a Chinese meal. Now this review starts similarly to another on the site as we were the only people in the restaurant and it was my birthday. Got a table in the conservatory which overlooks what could be a really nice beer garden (more in this later).Local young lad came and took our order (couldn't fault him very attentive) started off with a sharing platter which was really really good. So we waited on our mains in anticipation. This gave me a chance to look around a little and to say the place is tired is an understatement. Frayed carpets... Dirty windows... Rusty pipes on the heating but this didn't put us off. I've been in worse. Looking at the garden it was overgrown with weeds everywhere. However it could be really really nice on a summers evening as it looks like it was really nice at one point in the dim and distant past. Main arrived and whilst my one tasted ok.... My other halfs dish was nothing like we expected. What seemed like a streamed chicken chow mein was placed in the table. This was nothing like any chow mein that I have seen anywhere else I have been. Noodles looked like they were out of a packet from a supermarket. Taste.... Nothing like any chow mein I've ever had either. Just tasted like steamed chicken with noodles... Huge vegetables and a chicken gravy!All in all what could be a really popular gem of a place not only for locals but holiday makers next door was a let down. Wouldn't recommend going back either.

We were staying on the camp site next door in the second week of Easter school holidays. It was one of our birthdays that week so we decided to give this place a try after a day in York sightseeing . The restaurant was empty but it as it also did take always as well we assumed the food would be fresh. We got there quite late and were the only customers eating in the restaurant so I can't comment on the service when it's busy but the food was very good and plentiful. The prices were reasonable and as it also a pub the selection of beers and wine is good. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area.

went there last night granted the portions are massive but the food was disgusting. i ordered kung po beef, now at other places its usually a sauce like sweet and sour but with spice well there it was exactly the same as curry with some cashew nuts thrown in!!! my husband had special curry, again big portion but all the meat in it was full of fat and tasted the same as my so called kung po, i pinched a king prawn out of his which i really wish i hadnt as it had a funny taste and the texture was slimy and within half an hour i was been sick, cronic stomach pains all night! the place itself looks really grubby and run down too definately wont be going back

Just had a week in Sutton On The Forest, and paid 2 visits to this excellent take away.The portions are massive....each take away lasts us 2 days!The food was wonderful, and well priced.Mr Chan is a very friendly host...it gets busy on Saturday nights...place your order and enjoy a pint as you wait for your your food!!Cant wait to get back oop north!!

There is little not to like about this place. A rural pub with lots of locals, good beer, wonderful food and a very colourful owner in the form of Mr. Shan a talkative Chinaman speaking a unique form of English.The food is wonderful with large portions and very reasonable costs including wine.

ordered a takeaway at 7.30 and was told I would have to wait 30 mins after 1 hour I asked what was happening to my takeaway and was told it would be ten mins there were a lot of angry people asking where there food was some had waited 1 hour 40 mins . The girl serving behind bar was trying to deal with the problems but just said the owner was shouting at her and told to not to bother him . Not once did the owner come and try and explain what the problem was . My food took a total of 1 hour 35 mins and when I arrived home there were items missing , when I phoned the owner said that he would look into it but never bothered to call back . It was a complete disgrace stay clear . May I suggest a crash course in costumers service as his skills are ZERO .

We live in Easingwold and always use this takeaway over the ones much closer to us. The food is really delicious, good value and generous portions... One main and a rice is enough for 2 adults! We regularly have the Singapore noodles which are by far better than those from closer by. We've not eaten in but top marks for the take away!!

Bought a take-away from the Canton Station Inn. The food was excellent and great value for money. An individual touch when ordering (how hot would you like the sweet and sour?). From me, this gets 5 stars all the way. Cracking food and service in this rural setting (especially the salt and pepper chips).

absolutely beautiful food.lovely waiters and bar staff,they couldn't do enough for you.we went on a busy night,but we didn't have to wait long.hubby had special chow mein and I had beef,mushroom and tomato.didnt think I would eat it all as the portions are very generous.but we both cleaned our plates,just.also had take away and the food was just as gorgeous.the adjacent pub was homely and the staff were warm and friendly.will deffinately be going back there.

Well, I am going to do something that I never thought I would do, give a very bad review. It is not in my nature to be a complainer, I would rather say something nice or not at all. But I think that the Canton Station Inn at Tollerton deserves both barrels. The complaint about the food is very minor, but the attitude of the proprietor on my simple complaint dumbfounds me.I have lived in the area for over a year but never had a chance to frequent the Canton Station Inn at Tollerton. An opportunity arose and I called in for a takeaway on the way home from an hospital visit.Quite simply, I ordered a beef curry and fried rice. Not a problem one would think. The order arrived promptly while I had a drink. The lady taking the order was polite and efficient.On arriving at home, the beef curry was clearly a beef chop suey. Not the end of the world, but not to my liking and not what I wanted. By this time I have had a glass of wine and a drink at the restaurant so I did not feel safe to drive.I telephoned the customer care line as described on the menu I had brought home for future use. Again the same lady taking the call was polite and efficient. She asked me to bring it back, but I told her I couldn’t as I lived too far away and had had a drink. She said they would call straight back. No call.So. The next day I called the customer care line as described. Spoke to the proprietor who immediately agreed that he knew of the the problem from his staff.I asked him for a refund, to which he asked me to return the meal which I had dispatched to the bin the night before. When I told him this he became abusive asking a lot of personal questions about my occupation, where I lived, and bizarrely whether I was from Newcastle as they are rough people and always complain.He then asked me to go see him in person to complain. I agreed to pop in and see straight away. No. I had to make an appointment at his convenience.A very rude and offensive man. I’m not a professional complainer, check out my previous reviews, but give this place a wide berth.I cannot give a zero rating or I would have.

Went with my husband and two friends and had excellent food (including good vegetarian options unusually for Chinese restaurants). The service was prompt and friendly and we were very well looked after. We all agreed that everything we ate was delicious and we will certainly return to eat at The Station again.

We were staying at Tollerton Park and ordered a takeaway, the food was excellent, with large portions.Very busy on a Saturday night, but the food was still very hot and quite reasonable pricing. We will definitely go back on our next visit.

I got a take away the food was tasty and hot and good portion size as well . when I went in the restaurant was busy but not full for bar side seemed full I place my order but there was a couple customer in front of me for take aways there was a man who seemed to owner who checked to see if I had been served and chase the order up . When I am staying the area again I will be back

Recently visited her on our way through, arriving at the restaurant it was empty although they said they were still open for food. We ordered crispy duck and then curry for afterwards. The duck was cooked to perfection and was very enjoyable. The curry was also nice. Unfortunately as I was driving I was drinking coke which was poured out of a 2l bottle and wAs flat. And we were left in the restaurant without anyone checking on if our meals were okay. Would definitely get a takeaway from here.

Nice place to go for Chinese food , a bit more staff as only 1 person out doing everything when we went. But will go back again.

My wife and son went for dinner at the above named place and it looked like an empty storage room with a few tables in and in urgent need of a lick of paint! The menu given had the usual Chinese concoctions Despite the noise and the lack of proper service we finally had our dishes brought over, King Prawns I very much doubt it (in this place the Kings are rather of Junior size) , the salt and pepper ribs we ordered were miniscule, the salt and pepper chicken had several prawns mixed in. The Crispy pork and fried noodles were slimy instead of crispy, and the rice was as thick and soggy as an inner tube of a bicycle. I won't be going back again for sure

Having arrived in Tollerton earlier in the afternoon, we were happy just to go to the Chinese takeaway as it was just next door to the caravan site we were staying at. The chicken curry was terrible. There was absolutely no taste to it what so ever. The chicken was obviously frozen and had not been properly cooked out as it was chewy. The Special Fried Rice was pale and tasteless. The chips were just passable. The whole meal was a washout (a bit like the weather that night). We enjoy regular Chinese meals from various places but this takes the number one position of the worst we have ever had!

We had a takeaway from here whilst staying locally and I can honestly say that it was the worst Chinese meal I've ever had. The chicken curry was bland and absolutely tasteless and had I not been present when it was ordered I would have said that we had received the wrong meal as there was no curry in the sauce at all. To compound matters, the chicken was of the 'chewy' variety which is common place in Chinese takeaways. I suspect that frozen chicken is used and that the water is not cooked out although I may be wrong. The fried rice was also nothing to write home about, again bland and tasteless. Had we been sitting in, all three meals would have been returned as unsuitable. If I could, I would award no marks what so ever.

Have eaten in and had takeaway from here many times. It was very quiet when we ate in last week, however the food is almost always good. We have really only had 1 bad takeaway - don't know why the quality failed then.The selection is enormous and they do a lot of lamb dishes - my favourite - and that is unusual for a chinese.If you've never been, give it a try.

Having just moved to Tollerton, I can honestly say the crispy lemon prawns are by far the nicest Chinese food I have ever eaten. I'm usually a spicey food guy, but having visited the Station inn on a friends advice, and asked the owner for his recommendation, the food I received was in a word *amazing*. I also bought the salt and pepper ribs, and again I don't think I've had better. I've only ordered this meal twice and no others, but if this meal is anything like the others then all I can advise is try it yourself.

We have frequented the station inn for many years finding the food excellent. But on the last two occasions the service was abysmal. Up to 8-00 pm they concentrate on there takeaway trade in preference to the restaurant business. After waiting half an hour they got it totally wrong by serving our main course before the starter. When we questioned the proprietor about this he blamed his serving staff but the blame lay with prioritizing the take away trade first. We are saddened by this as the food is always excellent.

We read a few reviews on here and although they were mixed we decided to give it a go and after reading that the foo yung was the best ever, thought we would try it, we didn't go in to the restaurant but decided to get a takeaway. We got the special foo yung which was referred to by them as the mixed meats foo yung...it was horrible...the egg was burnt and the mixed meats were fatty and tasteless...the worst bit was the pork which was thick and un chewable also it tasted off, it is a shame really cos this could be a really great place if they cooked good food.

Heard this place was meant to be lovely. Every time we drove past it my husband would say we need to try it in there as the food was fantastic (ok so the last time he had been in there was back in the 90s). Tried it tonight (15/12/13) one word springs to mind Minging. My order was completely wrong, my daughter ordered Satay sauce but what she got was not Satay sauce ... God know what it was. My husbands sweet and sour sauce was stone cold. When my husband called up to complain the person on the other end was not very helpful at all ... They didn't offer to correct our order all they did was to offer a discount on our next order!!! like we will ever go back ... They have a cat in hells chance of that happening. £26 wasted !!!!!

Whilst on holiday in Sutton On The Forest, we have always used the Canton for our takeaway.The portions are so generous that the fixed meal lasts us for 2 nights.The food is of excellent quality,fresh and very tasty.Having read some reviews since our last visit I was a bit concerned......but I needn't have been...It was excellent!!

Been to this spot a few times and have also given it a good review before, however haven't been for a while so I thought a revisit was in order. Nice warm welcome as always. Ok the decor is a bit tired and there are a few oriental looking plastic objects hanging off things, but comfy enough. We were there for a birthday so pushed the boat out a bit when ordering. All our courses were nicely spaced, piping hot and beautifully cooked. As always the portions were huge . Overall a great dining experience, plenty of well cooked , really tasty food. We could hardly move when we left we were so stuffed and the bill for 3 came to £45 ! Give this place a whirl for an authentic "old school" Chinese meal , superb !

My husband and I spent a week at a cottage nearby and we were looking for an easy solution for dinner. We ordered what we usually order from Chinese takeaways and it was by far the worse we have ever tasted. Supermarket Chinese ready meals are by far better. The tastes were blunt and the food was over-cooked. Terrible choice.

This is one of the few places I and my friends/family have been to recently and been able to eat a jolly good well balaced vegatarian dairy free meal.There was something for everyone on the menu.Delicious food. Tea and coffee was perfect and the service was friendly and welcoming. Prices were very good value. Overall fantastic.

Having read recent reviews and just booked we were very worried. We have eaten here on several occasions in the past 10 years and have always had a good meal.There were 4 people in are group and we all came away very happy.3 people had the banquet , the other person had a vegetarian option. The portion sizes is of a Yorkshire standard, hence I am writing this review late at night stuffed full.Our meals came to £15.50 each and the meal was excellent .First class meal. Will be back soon

Me and my husband went for a meal here the other night, we've probably been half a dozen times before and always liked it. On this occassion we got the platter for 2 which I must say was very nice but the main meals were awful. I had sizzling beef in black bean sauce, the beef was like big pieces of rubber, boiled, and my hubby had the special which was mainly rubber chicken and other meat. My hubby was up in the night being sick and stomach ache all the next day and I had the runs. I was suprised how many flies were hovering around the table. I was also suprised to find that their web site no longer exists. I think it's a lovely place in lovely surroundings but the food was not good. Would I go back, yeah for the starter, seaweed, prawn toast etc, main meals! nope.

Cheap food and you can tell why. This take away was recommended to us and we were really looking forward to it. However frozen chips re heated, plus rice that was recooked and covered with greasy, disgusting chicken completely ruined our 'experience'. I would tell everyone to Avoid this place. It needs to decide if its a pub or Chinese and then focus on that, rather than trying to do it all. The only positive thing is that the waiting area was clean and comfortable!

visited this little pub/chinese for a takeaway as staying in nearby village. Amazed at how its a takeaway, restaraunt and pub all rolled into one. We were very happy with the food, and the serive was lovely, very friendly. would definately recommend.

My wife and I were looking forward to this and it was dreadful. Service was terrible but couldn't blame the server because they looked about 16. My duck main was inedible and I lost my appetite so I asked for my rib starter (which came WITH the main) to take home). Bill comes, I ask for my starter and discovers that it has accidentally been thrown away. A full plate of ribs?Rubbish.

We've been going to the station inn for a number of years now, the food is always delicious and very reasonably priced, this includes the drinks as the restaurant is half country pub and half Chinese restaurant. Highlights are always the spare ribs, salt & pepper chicken and the curries (chicken or beef).It's about a 20 minute drive to this restaurant from York as it is literary in the middle of nowhere but worth it every time, if it is was in York instead of Tollerton I think you would struggle to get a table at any time, it really is that good.

this is a lovely old pub turned into a chinese restaurant/takeaway. service is fast and friendly. the menu is full of choice and the food is fabulous and it is very cheap for the quality. if your a true brit and looking for a great chinese meal out but don't have a lot of pennies this is a hidden gem. brilliant.

Visited this place a few times after bloke at work recommended it , every time we have been it has always consistently delivered great food. From the outside , what used to be an old railway pub the place looks a bit tired as indeed does the decor inside. Always a warm friendly greeting and the service is great. We went as a family , had a 3 course meal with a couple of drinks each and it worked out at around £16 per head, I think that is pretty good value . The food as always was really tasty , well cooked and plentiful. The salt and pepper ribs they do here are an absolute triumph ! Great food , great value, great service and a warm welcome , definitely well worth a visit .

we have been here five times now, always been good service, could do with a little refurbishment but the food is very good indeed. I note that the owner is a dim sum chef, would really love it if they added dim sum to menu, even if it was a restricted day or time. Can only compliment this place for eating at very good value for money.Awaiting my next visit, by the way the portions are really large, but try the banquets they are the best I have had recently.

Great food and plenty of it!, Excellent price and service. Have used Chans place many times as eat in and take away and always pleased! Highly pleased!
