Very nice restaurant! We ordered the clay pot rice with spare ribs, the spinach & preserved eggs soup, and the cheung fun. The rice & the soup were so good we definitely will come back if we travel to Glasgow again. We pre-ordered the clay pot rice through phone call 20 mins before arrival and the food was ready when we got there. We also had the milk tea - it was delicious & we liked that it was not too sweet. The lady who served us was quite friendly & helpful - but she's the only one there so service can be sometimes slow. Overall we had a great experience and highly recommend this place & the clay pot rice together with the spinach & preserved eggs soup!

Proper Chinese food, no sweet n sour chicken balls. Has a nice cosy atmosphere inside but got the food for takeaway (walk in, order for takeaway). Had Chinese sausage claypot rice, the char sui cheung fun, and also tried some of the turnip mousse, all of which was delicious! Good sized portions too. ~£14 for the rice and ~£6 for the dim sum which I thought was well worth. Just make sure you bring cash :) Errata: been back multiple times since. You have to try the Xiao long buns and the fried turnip cakes with xo unbelievable! Thanks Richard for the excellent service!

Really nice food, decent sized portions and not too expensive. My wife was really pleased to find somewhere that does good cheung fun. I'm not usually a fan of the dish but theirs was pretty good and all the other food was great, especially the turnip cakes with XO sauce. We will be back! 😀

I was there for lunch. The staff were friendly but at the same time rather absent , but the bear tea is a rip-off in my opinion. The cup is full of ice, the bear is made of iced tea and hardly any milk tea. My duck dish was okay, but the taste left much to be desired. They also only accept cash. No card payment in store, or you need to transfer the payment by BACS which then they come and take a photo of your transaction, and even then they don't let you keep a receipt!

The food was tasty, though the duck was mostly bone, and the price was reasonable. Their famous "instagrammable" bear ice tea is cute and tastes nice. The chair sui was great. The interior is nicely themed and the restaurant was clean. Service wasn't the best - the waitress did not understand our order, brought us the wrong food and it took a while of us explaining why it was wrong for the waitress to understand. Once they understood, the error was fairly quickly rectified. Unfortunately, we needed two cups for the pot of tea and it took a few attempts of asking wait staff before the requested extra cup was provided to us.

I'm from Guangdong and the food served at Canton Lane reminds me of the taste of my hometown. The Chinese name of the restaurant means good things will come to you, and it is one of my favorite restaurants. Very authentic Cantonese food, it tastes the same as the restaurant downstairs in my Chinese home! I eat there almost every day. Claypot rice and CHUENG FUN are highly recommended. The milk tea with bear ice cubes is also very cute! dimsum can feel that it is made by the chef himself, and hopes that more Scottish friends will come to taste the Chinese taste!

We've eaten there 3 times in the last few weeks so it must be good. It is good! The food is delicious, so yummy. It's a busy place but we always manage to find a seat. Staff are super helpful even when busy. The congee is very authentic and perfect for breakfast after a night out. There's enough for 2 in one portion. Always have the Jasmine tea ☕️😁🙌🏽

Impromptu dining, seated quickly on walk in. Good variety. However, taste left much to be desired. Lengthy wait for food to arrive. Clay pot gimmick is interesting but poor meat to rice ratio. Fried buns tasty but under filled. Tbh, overpriced for quality. Have had more enjoyable Cantonese cuisine in Glasgow with better taste profile and portions for price.

All the food we had are delicious! I love the cheung fun, especially the charsui one (roast sweet pork), it’s soft and full of flavour and the portions are decent. The xosauce ones are also very good, definitely one of the best cheung fun I’ve tried in Glasgow, highly recommend! The clay pot rice did not disappoint either, we tired the one with Chinese sausage, big portion, wish the rice is crispier at the bottom. Their congee/ rice porridge is also amazing, I’ve tried the one with century egg and pork, very nicely cooked, I would recommend! The dim sums are also great, we had braised beef shank which is full of flavour and chicken feet is super tender. The pan fried buns are okay but the dough is thicker than we preferred. The drinks are also great, the bear lemon tea is just so adorable, the line coconut milk is very nice as well. Overall, they have amazing decor, the menu has a huge range of varieties, plenty of seatings and friendly service. I would come again to try more delicious food 🤩

The food is of good quality and the service is good. It's a pity... one of your pig teammates offended the customer (at 7 or 8 o'clock in the evening on a rainy day, a family of three asked someone to set up a table when there was an empty table). What kind of service attitude is this? The devil is in the details. I wish you a prosperous business.

Waited half an hour to order and then left. I guess it can't always be like this, but don't come here for your lunch break... First I waited, then I went downstairs and asked if I should order there (I was acknowledged nonverbally - wasn't sure what to make of that and went back to my seat after maybe 2 minutes). I asked my neighbor how he ordered, and he showed me a button you can press. Tried the button, no reaction (didn't check the time but I think it was at least 10 more minutes). I was speaking English, and wonder whether that contributed to the problem. Would have been happy to order in Chinese if necessary, but didn't get the chance.

The staff were approachable and attentive. Explained anything we were not sure of. I spoke Cantonese and the staff didn't so we ordered in English. Menus were in English and Chinese, which was helpful. We used Google translate to help us along, which was fun to do as a family. Food was fab. This was actually our 3rd time visit during August. We had mostly dim sum as we went during the daytime. One thing to bear in mind, they take cash or faster payment, and no cards are accepted. (Aug 2024)

You are genuinely spoilt for choice for Asian cuisine in the west end. So much choice, so little time. Tried Canton Lane on a quiet midweek and it was authentic if not awe inspiring. The clay pot was hearty and fresh, char Sui buns sticky and sweet. Decor is simple, layout concise, service inoffensive. Menu simple and not overtly expensive. It’s all good. Literally.

MORE AT Google

So it began, an experience that myself and my partner had been much looking forward to. Every time we passed this establishment we looked at each other in excitement saying "one day". Such a day finally fell on a seemingly innocent Monday afternoon, however there turned out to be a grave difference between expectation and reality. What so many times seemed like a place we'd call a new favourite of ours, turned into a place we only endured up until the first course. To start, the waitress showed not only disinterest in us, but a certain resentment to our presence. We did not speak of the fact we were the only non-asian customers in the restaurant (towards which she smiled and conversed with) or indeed speak of what their menu advertised as what are illegal alcohol measurements under Scottish law. We instead, chose to wish away any worries regarding main courses costing an average of £15 a portion and continued in our efforts to make the experience what we wanted it to be. I asked where the bathroom was, without verbal reply and only a finger I was pointed in the right direction. We ordered water three times (one requiring me to go to the bar) and found the waitress (serving only two other tables) finding time to chat to a friend who walked in before providing us with our order. We ordered spring rolls as a starter and two clay pots for our mains. The 8 spring rolls (at £5.80) were fine, not exceptional, and were laid upon a bed of shredded lettuce that was at least three days old. It was akin to the dregs at the bottom of an all you can eat salad bar at a pizza hut, soggy and discoloured. When the water finally arrived, alongside more dismissive and genuinely (I don't use this word without meaning it) rude behaviour of our server, the carafe was greasy and the glassware had bits of food on them. This, for my partner who works in hospitality, was the final straw. He made the reasonable point that we were not made welcome, and that a business charging £15 per main course which doesn't provide clean glassware isn't deserving of anyone's hard earned money. He proceeded to speak to the waitress and politely asked her to inform the kitchen that our main courses weren't wanted, and that we would be leaving for all the reasons described above. There was no arguing or shouting, only a confused look on the servers face. While collecting our things to leave she came to our table and said "so you aren't going to pay?" To which my partner replied "no, we feel most unwelcome here." Can I say on record, we don't leave reviews like this normally, but we felt we had to on this occasion regarding the many faults this restaurant seems to have in terms of it's experience. We couldn't have been more enthusiastic about our experience of Canton Lane when walking in, and we walked out in a daze wondering why we were made to feel so unwelcome and why things went so wrong. I hope the people in charge of this establishment see this review as what it is, not a hateful reaction of an emotional sort, but of constructive criticism that they can use to make their business a better place. From us, we can only advise you guys AVIOID, as the prices are too high for such an unprofessional experience. You are better spending your money in the many other Asian restaurants frequent in partick, for the simple reason that you be made to feel welcome.

The waiter wasn't particularly attentive; tap water was only provided after some delay. We ordered claypot rice, but waited for half an hour without it arriving; only upon inquiry did we discover that the waiter had forgotten to place the order, and it was our first dish. In China, waiters typically inform when all dishes are ready, while in the UK, they often ask 'is everything alright.' However, they did neither here. As for the dishes, the pig's trotters still had hairs on them when served. The salt and pepper squid tentacles were delicious, but the rice noodle rolls and lettuce were average. The waiter was not very attentive and the tap water was provided late. I ordered claypot rice, but after waiting for half an hour, the food was not served. When I asked, I found out that the waiter forgot to place the order. And this was the first dish we ordered. Usually in China, the waiter will take the initiative to say that the menu is ready, but in the UK, the waiter will also ask "is everything alright". But they did nothing. As for the dishes, the hair on the pig's feet was not removed, which was visible as soon as it was served. The salt and pepper squid tentacles are delicious. Rice rolls and lettuce are average.

Nice new place in Partick. Unfortunately the star dish, the clay pot rice, was simply not good.
