CANTON CHEF Chinese & Thai Takeaway in North Somerset

Was nice food year ago. Now got 6 pieces chicken in salt chilli chicken. 2 bits dried beef and appalling customer service. Last time I order from there !

Used always eat from here and then last time I had it didn’t taste nice so I went to a different Chinese

We ordered a meal last night 3rd Jan and it was the best Chinese we have had for a long time! Delivery was 40 mins even though they said 1 hour, and food just delicious. We ordered satay skewered, chicken chow mein, beef chow mein, special chow mein and crispy chilli beef.

Very disappointed. We regularly order take away from here and on this occasion we were missing a vegetarian mock duck. I phoned to tell them it was missing and the lady on the phone continued to argue that it was here! I gave up, took the loss as the rest of my meal was getting cold. I then went to let my son have the sliced Cucumber that should of gone with my duck only to find it was slimey and completely off. Very disappointed in attitude considering we order regularly.

Seriously. One of the best crispy sweet chilli beef examples in Weston super Mare. And I have tried a few :) try it!

My parents use this place all the time, I can see why, lovely food and good prices, quick to cook as well ordered for 5 people, ready in 10 minutes.

Horrible food and the worst takeaway! Severe food hygiene issues because there are some hair in the sweet chill beef, disgusting!!! What is worse, there is WORM (exsits in spoiled food) in the sour chicken, makes my partner vomits. We are shocked how this takeaway can open?! Then we searched online, and found this takeaway has been reported by BBC because it is used to register 761 illegal companies for money laundering. The people who opened this takeaway not focus on food, but just focus on making illegal money from UK government, which is disgusting. Beaware of this takeaway, and will report this disgusting canton chef takeaway.

Place a order. Was told and hour, when I rang to check they hadn't started cooking it. I was then told 30 minutes. So I ring again...50 minutes later. Was then told the food was only just being cooked and will be sent when it's done. Nearly 2 1/2 hours for a meal for one. Absolute joke. Wouldnt recommend. Go elsewherey

Poor service (long waiting time and rude staff) and food (expired meat has a nasty smell), just eat a little and throw the food to bin, but still severe diarrhea after eating, will NEVER EVER buy again from it!!! Got telephone threat from them to delete comments, assume they are selling customers' personal information and suspect why this kind of takeaway are still open (Assume because they change the residential to business, they live upstaires, and open takeaway downstaires). Be careful of this Disgusting takeaway, unhealthy.

Ordered chicken satay with rice, however, really disappointed of this. Bad taste because the rice definitely was from days ago, with the sour taste, disgusting. The chiken they cook is not clean, I find hairs inside it. Really disappointed. What is worse, the chef is rude and money meaning, because ask for money for a piece of tissule. I am pretty sure the 5 stars are the people they find to brush the Google review, because even 1 star is over for this takeaway.

Have ordered for delivery on a number of occasions now and I can't fault at all. Delicious and fresh, always arrives well within half an hour and piping hot. Lovely!

Ordered food was told just over a hour was happy with that but after a hour and half rang was told gunna be another 30 mins…..really was my reply I then cancelled the order. After cancelling my order i hear the chef in the back ground say make them wait or tell them to pick it up. You have been our go to Chinese for years looks like it’s time for a change.

I’ve ordered many times and always been happy but tonight I was still waiting for my delivery after two hours. I phoned, was kept waiting on the phone for ages then offered the choice of waiting another 30 mins or cancelling the order. I waited and the food was lovely but there was no apology from the delivery driver, no apology from the restaurant and no offer of any sort of compensation. I’ll have to look for a different restaurant for the future

Order arrived, we ordered a coconut rice , chicken satay, Thai green curry and a red Thai curry . What arrived was egg fried rice with coconut ontop . Lemon in the green curry and hard chicken in both currys . I called them up to say that we went happy with the meal as it was incorrect and was not very nice to eat. I had a mono tone voice say that's the way they do it . She said that we cook our chicken so it goes hard. That we add egg to rice if u don't want it and they just chuck in what they want in to the meals to try freshen it up. Needs vast improvement! Good luck future dinners .

Good food, fast service, clean open kitchen

Utterly terrible food, without doubt the worst takeaway I've had in the Weston-super-Mare area. We ordered a chicken and prawn dish that was allegedly in a hot and spicy chilli and garlic sauce, which arrived entirely flavourless sitting in what I can only assume was brown water judging by the taste. The crispy chilli beef tasted like it was coated in syrup with no chilli flavour at all. The crispy tofu was soggy and watery. All in all, this was an utter disappointment and a total waste of money.

I was so pleased with the order I made recently! All the ingredients were so fresh, amazing value for money and I can quite honestly say hands down,that was one of the best chinese/thai takeaways I have had in a very long time if not ever!! Even the bbq ribs were just soooo meaty and juicy which, c'mon we all know is that, we dont get that often from the other take away outlets. I will most definitely be ordering from Canton Chef again .😁👍👌🏼

Don't normally leave poor reviews but can't say the takeaway I received this evening can be considered value for money. This has reinforced why it's not my first choice...sorry.

Terrible terrible terrible. Waited 2.5 hours for a delivery that never arrived. Completely indifferent ’service’ with a really poor attitude. Really don’t bother if you want to eat!

Best Chinese in Weston super mare!!!!

I had been using Canton Chef for many years - the food has gone downhill dramatically, and the service is even worse. After an inedible meal with an incorrect main and a fridge-cold meat dish, I called to complain and discuss a resolution. We were offered 10% off our next order which equates to about £3 total. When each meal is £6+ this was not acceptable but I was told this is 'take-it-or-leave-it'. I was spoken to horrendously by a vile woman who then hung up on me. There are plenty of good local Chinese restaurants - use this place at your own risk. AVOID.

Our go to chinese, order via their website. Foods always arrived on time or earlier and is piping hot and tasty.

Ordered at 18.00 for 18.50 delivery. 19.30 had not arrived. Phoned them only to be told would be another 20 mins. Cancelled order. No apology. This is the second time this has happened. This is the last time we use them

I ordered from deliveroo. The order came quick. But the food smelled horrible. Rotten The prawns undercooked. The veggies very soogy and nasty looking. Horrible experience.

First time eating from here and wow. The prawn toast was just amazing. Best I've had thus far. The chilli beef was again, so tasty. I've eaten a lot of Chinese and this is definitely in the top 3. Highly recommended.

Some meals are amazingly delicious while others are quite average. Chop suey with your eyes closed is sweet and sour chicken.

Was told wait was 50 mins,tracked delivery from big foodie,over 30 mins late,rang Canton Chef to be told my order was on it's way,and the driver was late to work,so my food has more than likely been kept warm for ages!! Wont be using this place again

Honey chilli spare ribs..... salt n chilli king prawns ....... seaweed and prawn crackers. You don’t get any better quality than this take away. Food to die for.

Avoid if possible! we had a takeaway from here a few years ago. it wasn't good. We tried again this weekend. it was worse! Chef's Special Satay - lots of raw onions, a bit of sliced beef and chicken (well hopefully that's what it was) in a slimy thin gravy. The beef and mushrooms had very little beef but we did find a chunk of pineapple in it. Absolutely disgusting, tasteless food. I am amazed they are still in business.

Ordered it at 6.20 pm for 7.30 and still not ready at 7.55. to long to wait when I had curry in car getting cold

Order was missing a dish when I rang the shop the lady was rude! Said “oh my god” a lot and waited another 30 mins for this to be put right by then the meal was ruined! Won’t be using them again poor attitude’s and rude staff! Would avoid.

Delicious Cantonese food, kitchen always looks very clean with good hygiene practices. If you collect you are likely to have your food very quickly. Slightly off the main drag but this is definitely my favourite Chinese takeaway in the area. Prices are very reasonable. I can recommend the Kung Po Chicken if you're not sure what to order.

Order takeaway, receive something nothing like what I order. I call to get it fixed & recieved the worse customer service Ever. Safe to say I won't be ordering from here again.

Food ordered for Xmas Eve. Food 30 minutes late, even after they added 10 minutes to our requested delivery time. so actually 40 mins after our requested delivery time. Food was still just about warm when it arrived, 1 small pot of sweet and sour sauce for 20 chicken balls is never going to be enough.. Prawns overdone. Requested food separation due to allergy not done. Dumplings overcooked. Ribs in sauce when requested dry Staff at the shop unhelpful when we rang them to track down our order when it was 30 minutes late already. I know it was Xmas Eve, and yes they'll be busy, but it's not as if they don;t have time to plan staff numbers for what is likely to be one of the busiest nights of the year for their business Overall very disappointing. We've used Canton Chef for years, including on Christmas Eve before What a disappointment, we'll certainly have to think hard about whether we use them again.

As a regular visitor, very disappointed and will not eat from here again. Telephoned to explain that we had a special fried rice instead of a chow mein and that the beef dish was not edible it was just fat and couldn't be eaten. They didn't apologise and when we asked what their answer was they just said 'ok'. We said we wouldn't come back again and they said ok again. After several visits and being happy in the past its a shame because the food was disgusting this time. I've never been served food this bad before.

Great food and great service this is my local and I eat there about twice a month and I wouldn't change a thing always fresh food and lovely and hot
