A shopping trip to Wimborne was going well and my wife and I felt the need of refreshment at mid-day. We decided to revisit a little cafe we had been to before and we were not disappointed on this return occasion at CANTINA CAFE; near the Minster Church. We really enjoyed salmon sandwiches with cream cheese and horseradish dressing and salad garnish. Really tasty! When I asked for black tea to drink with lemon, the proprietor went out especially to obtain fresh lemon slices. We shall go again. Their service was excellent. We shall go again!

We visited mid week for a light lunch and was not disappointed. The cafe is small but there was space to sit. Lots of customers coming and going so it had a nice feel to it. The staff were really friendly, and keen to welcome. We order lunch and cold drinks. The lunches were all freshly made and were lovely. The menu is generally sandwiches, paninis, mezze boards and some specials. It came out around £8 per head which is really reasonable. Thank you, we really enjoyed our lunch.

As a Cantina regular I wonder if the last two reviewers are referring to the correct establishment. Cantina is very much open with the same excellent service, food and coffee they have always given. Not sure how a coach party of 50 were let down as firstly they were open that day and secondly Cantina only seats about 30.

Have seen review photos of others and not sure where the photos were taken. Certainly the food on offer is nothing like that shown in photos. Drab, uninteresting, tasteless with what looked like sundried salad. A little more tomato, cucumber and some form of dressing wouldn't go amiss!!! My stomach isn't often turned too easily but the coffee here certainly did turn mine. Tasted as if having stood all day and not hot enough when served. When I visit a cafe I like to sit and contemplate my day over coffee with a 'moist' slice of cake. Not to be bombarded with very much 'in your face' idle chit chat about the Saints or Bournemouth football clubs. Hope you future adventurists like football and enjoy the 'in your face' service from an over eager host.

Whenever we are visiting Wimborne, we always head to this tucked away cafe now. It has a sweet little under cover courtyard for eating outside and a lovely, comfortable upstairs area, plus the downstairs tables as you step into the cafe. We almost always head upstairs. It is nice to sit on one of the comfy armchairs or sofas if you are just having coffee and a cake, but we mainly sit at one of the tables and chairs and enjoy a good lunch. The coffee is always very good and we enjoyed delicious soups through the winter and now great salads. Yesterday the choice was homemade quiche with salad or parma ham and melon salad. Both were very generous salads and very tasty. The sandwiches are also very good, with a great range of interesting and tempting fillings as well. Visited Cantina today and they had a good choice of sandwiches on the menu. Both myself and my niece ordered humus, cucumber, sun dried tomato and halloumi on a panini. It came with a bland side salad with no dressing and when I asked for some the plate was taken from me and some tasteless salad dressing was added. There was hardly any filling to the sandwich and not much taste either. My 8 year old niece had a ham sandwich which had been spread with bertolli or something like that and this was the overriding taste of hers and our sandwiches! Her chocolate milkshake was made of powder which could be tasted and to quote her it was disgusting! The only decent thing we had was my smoothie but only one flavour was available. The bill came to £24 for 3 sandwiches and 3 drinks and they only take cash! Would not recommend it at all plus the staff were more concerned about serving the regular customers who came in whilst we were there.

I discovered this little gem of a cafe when I spent a year living in Wimborne. Now that I have moved out of the town, I will once a week or so still pay a visit for lunch or an afternoon coffee, as it's that good. The owner Tony is an eccentric whirlwind, who goes out of his way to ensure his customers are happy. You're always guaranteed a warm welcome. The coffee is the best in the town, and Tony serves a range of interesting and unusual sandwiches, plus Greek mezze and fantastic cakes. Although Cantina looks small from the outside, there is plenty of room in the upstairs lounge area, and when the weather is nice, there's small terrace to the side of the property.I have visited many times on my own, and periodically with my partner and our children. We've always been well looked after.Great service, and great food and drink. Highly recommended! :-)

We were looking for somewhere for lunch and decided to try Cantina. The owner was in the doorway calling out to people going past to see if they wanted to come in for lunch. To be fair he was quite friendly and asked us if we had come on a recommendation but we had not. He was a bit pushy and we could see that some of the other customers who came after us were not overly keen on his style/manner.We sat downstairs and ordered coffees and butternut squash soup. Everything was fine and the coffee came with shortbread which is a nice touch. It was all quite reasonably priced and the menu offered varied lighter bites from sandwiches to cakes.Downstairs there are about 4 tables and upstairs there are tables and chairs as well as sofas. The toilet is also upstairs. The place is all done out in a shabby chic style which works. They also have an outdoor seating area along the same row of properties in what looks like a former garage but it would suit anyone who doesn't mind fresh air and there was a couple sitting out there on some picnic style benches. Not sure if I would go back as the owner put me off a bit but he probably means well, just comes across as a bit desperate. We come to Wimborne every few weeks specially for the Cantina. As I wrote in an earlier review this is not a chic restaurant, just an unpretentious arty/rustic place for a casual coffee or snack. In a small old building in a side street by the shops and main bus stop. With a limited menu and a selection of interesting sandwiches and fruit juices.Come here for an excellent coffee, and perhaps a Spanish platter (Spanish ham, salami, chorizo and manchego & salad, and breas), or the Greek platter (tzatziki, hummus, stuffed vine leaves, Greek salad, pitta bread). The platters are around £10 each and big enough for 2 to share. They are brilliant. They are not licensed, but you can bring your own wine, or buy a beer at the pub next door. Do not expect 5* service and perhaps you will have to wait. Everyone seems to come together!

Decided to try Cantina, instead of our usual Costa Coffee when we go to Wimborne. What a let down. Greeted on arrival and ordered before we went to sit. Our coffees arrived 5 - 10 minutes later, the soup we ordered took 30 minutes and when it arrived it was only luke-warm. The coffew was nice and teh soup would have been if hot.We won't be going back

Mick has sold the business to a new owner . We had rated everything as 5* .went last week and service was awful. Sold out of just about everything. Owner was running round like headless chicken. Poor organisation. Decided to give our favourite another chance . Went in today . Not acknowledged by anyone . Sat for 15 minutes then walked out. Will not be back ! Saw 2 others walk out while there. How to kill a business with great potential in 2 weeks. Service is paramount in any business.Happy for owner to contact me.

I love good coffee and it is great that Wimborne offers such smooth coffee house. Tucked away in Church Street next to the Odd Fellows pub (great local pub with regular music and a friendly atmosphere) Cantina has a nice friendly ambiance with friendly staff and a delicious range of snacks and sandwiches. There is a comfortable sitting area upstairs ideal for meeting friends or holding small business meetings. The free wifi means you can do some work whilst enjoying the coffee.

We really enjoy popping into Cantina for coffee or a sandwich. The coffee is strong, the way I like it, and very flavoursome. The staff are always friendly and seem genuinely pleased to see customers..you don't always get that in some coffee bars! There is some seating downstairs (and in the courtyard in the summer- good if you have the dog with you), and some comfy sofas and chairs upstairs..plus some tables and chairs. It isn't a huge coffee bar, but it has character. Fresh looking white paintwork, interesting paintings..and a good bathroom. Not sure how disabled customers would fare though, with it being upstairs. Some very tasty sandwiches, and Minghella ice cream. Delicious! The problem is with me giving it an excellent review is that multitudes of people might turn up, and then I wouldn't get in!!!

Owner has turned this place around compared to what it was, and offers probably the best coffee in Wimborne which doesn't say much for the other establishments in town. I didn't have any food but there seemed to be a nice selection of Greek themed snacks, and incongruously a whole Spanish ham leg in the carving position on the counter.

This is our favourite place to have coffee and lunch in Wimborne. The coffee is exceptionally good and reasonably priced. The service is really great and staff are always really friendly which is sometimes lacking in other restaurants/cafes in Wimborne. Cantina is definitely the best place for a great cup of coffee and friendly atmosphere!

Yes, we are specially driving to Wimborne so we can have another platter after we had an unexpectedly good one a couple of months ago. I am veggie, and had the cheeses, whilst husband had the chorizo etc, and the cappuccino was good, as was the lemon cake. The platter was around £10 ..not bad for two. Easy to to forget how expensive manchego and chorizo are in the shops.Cantina is unpretentious, and you could miss it when you walk by. It is a little different, and may not appeal to everyone. But if you enjoy 'authentic' food, simply served, then this is for you. There are so few good restaurants/cafes in the region, so we were really pleased to find Cantina.

Had a gorgeous latte today (as always since discovering cantina not long ago) but on going in, noticed the cakes were all uncovered (again) and flies were all over them. I did mention it to the young waitress who brushed it off saying they don't worry about it, but they do have covers?! When we went in to pay they were still uncovered. My family and friends have noticed this too on a number of occasions over the last month. It has really put me off trying them. For a cafe that has an excellent hygiene rating of '5', I am surprised that this can happen. Please cover your beautiful cakes Cantina :-)

This cafe really does deserve its high rating on Tripadvisor. If you're looking for coffee, tea or hot chocolate in Wimborne, this is the place to go.Cantina is a delightful little place in a quiet side street just off the main square. It has three seating areas - conventional tables inside on the ground floor, outside wooden tables in a curious area alongside the main cafe, plus an upstairs area which is more laid back, including some sofas, which would be excellent in damp winter weather, I'm sure. It is all beautifully maintained. The coffee and tea is wide ranging and very well prepared, served with a complimentary biscuit. They also have a good range of fruit juices on offer - the Chegworth Valley Pear is truly excellent. They have an inviting range of cakes on offer, plus some "mediterranean style" lunches (which we did not sample).

Lovely food, really good friendly service in a small rustic setting. We had the mediteranean sharing platter for two which sent us away with memories of holidays abroad. Plenty of meat.bread and salad.Cakes looked wonderful.Only down side was the soft drinks were at the pricey end, but not enough to put us off visiting again should we be in the areaAll my reviews are an honest assessment of how we found the visit.Certainly worth trying

Mick opened this little gem of a cafe about 3 months ago. My son, a builder, worked on the house opposite, for several weeks and introduced us to Cantina, following eating snacks there. Cosy surroundings and a nice upstairs area.Spotlessly clean.Wonderful Italian bread sandwiches with very different fillings. The Med platter and the Greek meze platter are both outstanding value and remind you of your Greek holiday! Lovely coffee served by Mick and his friendly staff. All very reasonably priced. Meze platter for 2 is £9.50 .We like it so much that we have been going every week on my day off! A victim of his own success- 12-15 to 1-15 becomes very busy so go early or just after 1.30.

This was an excellent find in Wimborne. Although the menu is small it is very well thought out and extremely yummy. I can highly recommend going there for lunch, it has a lovely quaint courtyard in which you can sit and enjoy watching the world go by. The staff were lovely, very attentive and very polite. Cantina is excellent value for money.

Have now been back twice, once for coffee, which was rich and delicious, served with a scrumptious little filled macaroon, and once for lunch, with a wheelchair user. The halloumi and houmous sandwiches were great, fresh and full of flavour. We were able to bring in the (folded) wheelchair which was great, but on leaving the gentleman in the kitchen rushed to set up the wheelchair and helped the lady in - very gracious and utterly charming. What a lovely relaxing and welcoming place. Please note if using a wheelchair that the loo is upstairs, but public loos are a few yards away.

Walking up from the Minster one morning with my daughter and a friend, I smelled a rich roasted coffee that I HAD to have ... I wasn't disappointed, in-fact I text another friend and insisted we meet there for the best coffee I think I've had in the UK. It is rich, dark, almost chocolatey, it has invaded my dreams and my daughter and I go at every chance, she loves the milkshakes, juices and bacon sarnies whilst I reinstate acceptable caffeine levels since my previous visit. We discovered the comfy sofa upstairs, perfect for a cozy chat or chilling with a book. The staff are friendly, helpful and just lovely. Looking for an excuse to pop to Wimborne this afternoon!
