Cannons Fish in Enfield

What has happened to this once wonderful place? A place that used to serve great food, even though it was expensive, I didn’t mind paying more, because the food was of high quality with okay portion sizes. The last couple of times ordering a take away from here have been very very disappointing. For one, the potion size for a large cod is an absolute disgrace. Order and be charges the price of a large cod and get a small one instead? A cod so small, that in my opinion, was too small to even be a small cod, let alone a lage one. What an insult!! The chips were very disappointing as well, which were hard and looked brownish red, a different potato was now being used. An average sized Gherkin; These three items came to a WHAPPING £17.40. FK U, NO THANKS!! I work too hard to waste my money. I’ll be going elsewhere from now on. Thank you!!

Food and service was good. Restaurant was very very cold. People were dining with their coats on. Dreadful

We had a take away. Ordered early, ready and collected on agreed time. We both had haddock- it was brilliant. White and fluffy fish that tasted very fresh and well cooked. The only place I would get a take away. Have seen some very negative reviews - rivals obviously attempting to sabotaging Cannons reputation.

Simple but very nice fish dishes

Gave the food a 3 star because I ordered a large cod and chips x 3 and the cod was no way a large by any standards. The fish we got was a small compared to chippy. Service was great though I got a take out friendly service with a smile, so 5 star for service and a 4 star for atmosphere as i didn't experience the restaurant so didn't want to give a low rating on something I didn't know anything about. The food was clean and fresh but sadly won't be going back due to the size of the portions, I'm not a very big eater but the large cod wasn't filling enough for me. I can only assume they made a mistake and gave me a small instead of the large in which case I would reduce the rating from a 3 star to a 2.

Amazing food, extremely friendly and helpful staff, beautiful decor!!!

Dreadful calamari, soggy and rubbery. Grilled haddock dry and crusty and cost£19 with spoons full of peas and tartar+ tiny undressed salad.

Delicious dinner on Saturday night. Excellent service, cannot fault anything. Lovely welcoming staff and couldn’t do enough for us. Food was amazing! Highly recommend and will definitely be going back soon!

Poor quality food and expensive to boot

A very weird experience. On arrival one staff member said they didn't have space for us then turned to another and as we were leaving said that we could sit in the corner. Which was empty when we went in. Food looked amazing and the taste was ok. Our order was mixed up and we nearly had half of our order and someone else's but the staff rectified quickly. Overall the service was good from some staff and a ok by othersand they were quick to apologise for an error on the bill. Will certainly go there and try it again as I know the takeaway is always superb.

Really Nice Restaurant with Lovely Food and Excellent Service. We had a table of 12 and had a Variety of Dishes - Calamari, Grilled Octopus, Tiger Prawns, Greek Salad Halloumi Sticks, Cod and Chips with Mushy Peas and Tartar Sauce Grilled Salmon with New Potatoes and Cod Bites and Chips for the Kids. Everyone Enjoyed their food and it was Cooked Very Well and Tasted Delicious. The Decor of the Restaurant was Very Nice too and the Chairs were Very Comfy. Will definitely be visiting again Thank you!!!

I recently tried the fish and chips from this take away, and I must say it was fantastic! The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the chips were golden and delicious. The portion size was generous, and the price was very reasonable. The staff were friendly and efficient, making it a great overall experience. I'll definitely ordering again.

Service very poor. Waited over a hour between starter and main course. Tried to charge a service charge of over £8.00. Not likely to return

I really like this restaurant and have ordered from them many times. However this time the order time that I selected was ignored and they sent the food too early. When I called up, they blamed JustEat and refused to reissue the order. So the restaurant and JustEat have my money and the driver has my food and the only person who has lost out is me, the regular and loyal customer. Such a shame as it is one of the best in the area!

This is my local fish and chips shop and I think the quality of the fish is excellent. I always get the haddock and chips and it's fresh and well cooked, tasty chips not soggy. Haven't been to the restaurant yet but hoping to soon

Don't waste your time. The platter sounded amazing but arrived cold and did not live up to expectations and came with the tiniest portion of chips for 2 people. The prawns and scallops were nice but the rest was a waste of time. Not once did someone come over and ask us how our meal was. Very disappointed

I've always been a fan of Cannons, regularly ordering food for the last 10 or so years. Visited the new restaurant recently and I was very pleasantly surprised at how well they have designed and furnished the place. Right down to the small fittings and fixtures, and the bathroom soap, it's a very nice place to dine...and of course the food is exceptional. Best seafood in North London. One thing though... Please turn down the lights. I think the restaurant could be seen from space it's so bright. Of the lights were dimmed a little, the atmosphere would be spot on. I'll still visit, but maybe with sunglasses on.

Someone knows what they’re doing at Cannons. The food is really good and the new refurb is great - open, airy and light with simple stylish decor, white table cloths and window panels that open fully to the street on warm days. However… who is in charge!? Hospitality needs a face - but there is no obvious manager in charge to meet and greet, check in and make the whole thing an “experience” . The staff who are present are the same generally disengaged and lackadaisical types who are often on the counter at Cannons and feel a bit like young work experience candidates or exchange students. . Now it’s trying to be a proper restaurant this really shows. A shame and a missed opportunity. If in doubt takeaway - Cannons not worked out how to be a restaurant yet.
