Brilliant community pub with friendly staff and the regulars make you feel welcome.

Customer service is none existent. I wouldn't even let my worst enemy drink here!

Owner is rude and staff are almost as bad.

Really noisy pub. Music so loud it spoiled our enjoyment.

Clean but a bit tired looking pub. Don’t do food which is a shame. Not a bad point of Guinness. Atmosphere wasn’t good but went in early afternoon so don’t know about evenings. TVs for football and pool table. Small car park at the rear.

Lovely little canal side pub near kidsgrove, the bar staff were super friendly and helped out with a bowl of water for the canine punters, also chatting with the narrow boat folk was an absolute delight as they used the nearby lock to continue their journey.

Quick visit for a couple of pints. Lovely job. Well done Sharon

No real ale on at all, pretty empty mid Saturday afternoon, bar staff didn't look up, so we did a U-turn and went to the Blue Bell over the road which was absolutely the right call!

Really let down by the outside! The pub is in a great location at the side of the canal but doesn't look very inviting with planters full of dead flowers and weeds plus benches that look like they were painted by a child, just looks uncared for. We past other pubs along the canal that had lovely beer gardens that were really busy yet despite its location this pub had plenty of empty seats outside. On the plus side it was a cracking pint.

Lovely looking pub on the canal side, went for a quick drink on Sat afternoon with the family but didn't stay long because the dance music that was booming out of every single speaker, even the seats outside was so loud we couldn't hear each other speak. Shame as it's a lovely location. Didn't eat so can't comment on the food

Great Beer, great staff, manageress and excellnt clientel. Highly recommend to everyone boaters and hikers alike. I have't eaten there, but the pies look great.

First time I've been here, just passing, lovely setting next to the canal, nice greeting from the land lady, baguette and a pint, what more could you ask for, thanks for the warm welcome

This is a wonderful place. Those working here are very friendly and welcoming and it very much has a family atmosphere.

Pre covid beer , one miserable member of staff ..no social distancing ,all sitting around one table drinking watching football..

We hold birthday parties here every time there's one in the family and it's amazing, the staff are friendly and the drinks are very well made

A typical little English pub with a great atmosphere and hospitable staff. The pool table is active but not swamped with too many players. Drink prices were good at the fully stocked bar. Large screen TV's provide added entertainment in the form of Live sport. You can expect a live DJ at specific events held for special occasions. Overall, a great place to chill and socialise!

Locals rule the roost here, but with that being said, it is a well presented pub, bar staff are friendly, although they could do with learning how to make basic cocktails. A very well looked after place, ran by very caring people. A nice location, perfect for summer drinks outside. Facilities are acceptable with the standard TV's, Dart Board, etc. The bar is lacking on choice which is unfortunate, it appears to only cater for those on tight budgets, which makes sense given some of the clientele, but the price of drinks and bar snacks is typical and matches most other places. On the weekend we visited, we found a somewhat 'younger' crowd, with disco and karaoke as the evenings entertainment. Not a bad place if you live close by, but certainly not worth going out of your way to visit, if you aren't from the area.

Went here friday evening, There was a few people in, the drinks are very reasonably priced, bar staff are friendly. Kareoke/disco started later in the light which was fun. All in all had a good night in here and would def return.

Friendly staff, nice location and a great choice of gins!

This is a self understating pretty little pub and I'm basing this review on my third, (lunchtime) visit. It's a lovely pub situated right next to a canal lock so you can sit outside watching those well-heeled middle class liberal types - the ones that renting a barge seems to have a strange attraction for, hopefully making a right cockup of getting through the lock to the delight of us watching ' below deck' types. I should also, of course, mention the staff: lovely, welcoming people. Give it a whirl, I think you'll like it.

Never found it open.only opens when they want your money, never when I want a drink.
