Canaan Chinese Takeaway in East Lindsey

First of all we tried the Chinese takeaway 2 doors down and it was so bad that we felt cheated of our 1 night to have Chinese takeaway so a few days later we tried here. Ordered the exact same thing as the other place and It was infinitely better here! The chow mein was amazing, the satay sauce, perfect and the salt and pepper chicken was delicious. The only downside for us is that we were on holiday so it's a bit of a drive from Nottingham unfortunately :( haha.

Unfortunately this place now doesn't deliver to coastfields or ingoldmells.

Have been using this takeaway for years and never had a problem until today. Whoever the new lady is you’ve got working your counter / phones needs a lesson in manners. Firstly missed off an item of our order, rang them up to explain and was told we’d have to come back and fetch it, we asked for it to be delivered out as we’d already arrived home and was told ‘it’ll be a while for it to be delivered out’ to then have to ring up after an hour, still with no apology to be answered that the delivery driver has got to the wrong address 5 times because she had given him the wrong address!

Whilst saying with my very dear wife Ellen at the Sea 🌊 Air b&b in k Chalet St Leonard's On Sea 🌊 Had a Chinese from Cannan. Definitely Recommend. Staff are very polite & friendly. Food was exceptional 😋 Shared house special Chow Mein * package 📦 rolls 😋. Exceptional price too. Definitely Recommend

My family ordered from Canaan chinese takeaway as it was meant as a birthday meal. We were surprised at how quickly it arrived as it was only about 10 minutes since we orded by phone. My mom had ordered the plain chow mein with no vegetables and made sure it had no meat in it as it would be for a vegetarian. Well after taking a few bites, it was obvious that it was cooked with pork. At first I thought I was imagining it but another bite and it was clear that it was either cooked with meat or cooked in meat juice. And what makes it seem spiteful is that in the phone call it was mentioned that I was vegetarian, so was it done on purpose? Well if peeps wanna act scummy then best way to deal with it is to vote with my money and never again will I order from them.

Currently on holiday at Tomlinsons and we have ordered 2 times from here so far. They deliver the food to the barrier and will call u when they are on there way. The delivery times have been excellent and the food is always piping hot and very tasty. We ordered Singapore chowmein and the chicken in sweet and sour sauce plus some chips and an extra pot of sweet and sour sauce because it's always best to have enough. Our last order we also had some chicken and sweetcorn soup that was also very nice. Lady on the phone was very friendly when placing the order,also the driver was very friendly. I highly recommend using these guys for your Chinese takeaway food if your on your holidays at Tomlinsons or around that area 😎👍

so just been in here about an hour ago and sadly paid £6.10 for a carton of fried rice it was supposed to be a special fried rice there were 3 prawns in there and some minute scraps of meat that you could hardly decipher what it was 8pm sunday 1st sept

Food is good , staff are friendly.

We gave it a chance as they offered delivery. After two hours it finally arrived. Poor quality and barely warm. Our intention wasn’t to eat late but to unfortunately by the time it arrived it was! Won’t be ordering from again.

On holiday, I was recommended to try this Chinese and it was the best decision I have made. All the food we had was piping hot and full of flavour but the beef and mushroom curry was devine, it's been many years since having a curry that tasted as good as this one! I wish I lived closer as this would certainly be my regularly.

Can’t comment on the food due to the lack of knowledges on allergen information. We asked in terms of allergy information and they didn’t know apparently due to the spices and herbs, they wouldn’t even check the ingredients for myself. Manager just turned round and said if we don’t know we don’t serve. Very unprofessional, business should always have allergen information on hand. Therefore went to golden dragon who was more than happy to accommodate for my son and the food was amazing!

Portions certainly aren’t small! Overall it’s a very good quality Chinese never had any issues food is always nice. The reason for my rating is for me personally the chow mein. It’s always dry and tastes kind of burnt (bare in mind I have a plain chow mein so just noodles) I can’t speak for any of the dishes that have meat or veggies in them but I do find it very difficult to eat their plain chow mein. Everyone has their own tastes of course you may love it.

Firstly our food was fantastic. So no problems there at all. Tastey and lots of it. However, our delivery driver was the rudest man ever. He called to see where our caravan was and immediately went on a rant for 5 minutes, shouting and abusing us on the phone saying we are not located. Couldnt even try to speak to him to explain where we were. Honestly a very shocking experience when all we wanted was our food. Was a shocking experience to be fair. Lovely food though so hopefully you will get a better driver 👍

I'm here on holiday and I chose to eat here as it has one of the best star ratings and I can see why. Very friendly staff, fast service (even faster if you call to order in advance for collection). The food was absolutely amazing and I would definitely order again. If you're looking for a Chinese takeaway in the area I would definitely recommend here.

Had a late evening delivery from here. Was a bit worried after ordering as some of the reviews said portion sizes were small but they definitely weren't. There were 3 adults and would easily of fed 4. It was delivered on time and the food itself was faultless, hot and tasty. Give it ago its best Chinese in chapel imo

We have used this chinese takeaway pretty much since its opened! Always been tasty and delivered on time and piping hot. True they do seem to have cut back on certain things recently ( less garlic and chilli etc. In the salt and pepper chips ) but in fairness with cost of living this is excusable as to not jack the prices up , as they are still delicious. I am a local and regularly order and have never had a bad meal.

Not long moved to the area.. had our 1st Chinese delivered by Canaan in Chapel St Leonards tonight... one of the best Chinese meals we've ever had.

Disgusting reheated chips soggy chicken balls rubber chicken avoid at all costs

Chips was vile and bbq spare ribs, well let's just say it definitely was not bbq sauce, worst Chinese I've ever had, definitely won't get anything from there again, 1st time I've ordered from there, waste of £18

This used to be the best Chinese in the area But since their close down the food is still excellent but for some reason they have become greedy- Prices have increased -which you accept-but the portion sizes have decreased-the example I will give which in its self is ludicrous is the curry sauce - The smallest pot in history I don't think they could find a smaller one if they tried beans from the local chippy come in a bigger pot And let's face it how cheap is curry powder To be polite a p___s take Golden Dragon next door will get more custom if they don't re think their portion sizes Victim of their own success-Shame on you!!

Am not usually a fan of Chinese food but cannan changed my mind! I was really for standard takeaway far but when I saw the menu and online one I was spoilt for choice. Genuine Chinese dishes. l will highly recommend them.

Ordered the food a small order for delivery the said about an hour 2 hrs later the food still hasn't come. We phoned them they said the driver was on his way we are 10 minutes round the corner, and it's been out for delivery for 20 minutes and the food turned up cold

We really enjoyed our recent takeaway from here. We ordered a mixture of rice noodles curry salt n pepper chicken etc. Was all piping hot on arrival and tasted great will definitely be ordering again

Appealing service. Ordered to be delivered 8pm. Called 815 to be told they were still cooking it. Called again 838 to be told on its way and we are 10 minutes away max. Call again at 9pm and still nowhere to be seen They state they have been busy! That's makes no odds to me when I called at 510pm asking for delivery for 8pm.

Sat down & started talking to other customers, they’d all been waiting over an hour!! why the lady behind the desk just couldn’t have been honest & said a minimum of an hours wait is beyond me. As I was now bored, waited till their phone was ringing, rang the number myself, got the engaged tone. Waited till their phone wasn’t ringing, rang the number, got the engaged tone !! Most times their phone was ringing, the lady on the desk didn’t bother answering it as she was too busy talking to the delivery driver. Over an hour later finally got my order, the chicken curry didn’t really taste of curry, the sauce was thick & gloopy. At the bottom of the container was some kind of black liquid, a first for me with a curry. Gave two stars as the salt & pepper chicken & chicken wings were okay. Been previous years when it was really good, my wife & I were so disappointed especially after the long wait. Definitely won’t be going back again 🤬

The waiting time was not great. I was told that I needed to wait 20 minutes but it was 45 minutes later when I got my order. I ordered chicken in lemon sauce and after a few bites I immediately started to feel sick! It tasted like an artificial lemon flavour The fried rice was nice but the chips were odd 🤨. Overall I’d probably not go again

Ordered meal at 6.40 they said 20 minutes so my husband went down. There was a couple waiting then someone came in placed an order. He was waiting and waiting and waiting in the end he said do you want my number she had the order in a bag. He got home meal was 🥶 cold. I phoned up they said they had shouted but they didn't will never buy from here again and will tell our friends to avoid

Staying in Chapel on a break away, just had a delivery, would like to say delivered within the time expected, was very warm and tasty food so thank you. :-)

Hands down the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. Well, attempted to. Duck starter was completely incinerated. The meat was black and snapped when you bit it. Me and my 6 year old had chow mein. We had to throw it away. It was absolutely inedible. The chow mein was completely dry and the noodles were burned. It was like eating straw. There wasn't a vegetable in sight and the pork was so minimal we counted about 5 slithers. This place should be shut down.

Had sweet and sour pork balls uneatable barbecue spareribs like eating a raw bone the meats it’s supposed to fall off the bone I have lots of good meals in the few months I have moved here but it’s seems as soon as it gets busy (Holiday season) they just don’t seem they can cope such a shame

Terrible service. Ordered our food at 5.10 and was sent the wrong order 50 minutes later. I phoned them straight away and told them, having to repeat my order several times and was told it would be with us asap with the excuse that the numbers in their system did not match the food on the menu which I find ridiculous bearing in mind my partner ordered delivery from here last Tuesday and got the correct order. At 6.45 the food had still not arrived so I phoned AGAIN and was told my order was just being completed it then took another 45 minutes to actually arrive being lukewarm when opened and I was overcharged I will say that the driver/delivery guy was really friendly and polite apologising when none if this mess was his fault

Really disappointed. Ordered with a 1 hour wait. Called after 1hour 20 min. To be told its being bagged up and its on its way out. After 2 hours we cancelled the order. Got a call 5 mins later offering the food that's been ready for 40 min at half price. Politely refused and will never order again.

I was totally disgusted With the length of time I had to wait for my takeaway tonight and then when it arrived the chips were cold and the chicken balls were over cooked it was call sweet and sour chicken balls I have used this takeaway many many time but when you say to the owner it has been 2 hours with a child waiting for tea I think it was ignorant that he had the audacity to laugh definitely not a happy costumer

Nice welcome. Good selection to choose from. Prices reasonable. Didnt take to long from ordering to receive it. We took ours down to the beach and had it in a picnic next to the waves. It all tasted fantastic. Even the chips were good

Never had a bad meal here yet that's why we keep coming back. I am a creature of habit so I order the same but my son and partner do venture in to the unknown and order something different everytime and have not been disappointed yet. The only build I could give is when you order over phone they always say 20 mins, we always give it 40 mins.

First time visiting here only looks a bit pooky but lovley food nice beef curry was good quality beef wife had the chow mein very nice hot and sour soup OK but had better would definitely use again

A delivery was ordered from a reasonably comprehensive menu and, although difficult to locate the house, the food arrived piping hot. That did not help. The chow mein was completely tasteless (how is that possible) and there was a box full of warm, grey rubber bands, apparently shredded chicken that were inedible.

Never,ever, had a bad meal from this takeaway. Everything always cooled perfectly, and rates amongst.the best Chinese food I have tasted, definitely the best I have tasted in Lincolnshire.

We was recommended this Chinese. We have been excited to try But it wasn't nice at all. Charcoal tasting chowmein and bbq ribs didn't taste like bbq. unsure of the taste and it was so tough to eat like eating steak not pleasant at all its gone in the bin I'm afraid to say it was the worst Chinese I have ever had.

Gorgeous meals. I had the Egg Fried Rice with Chicken in Sweet & Sour Sauce. £5 for that alone, food was absolutely amazing for the price and service. Only took half an hour along with more items in our order. Came to £21, 3 meals for the 3 of us, could have definitely fed 4, we barely finished but well worth the stomach stretching haha. Thanks Canaan, best in Chapel St Leonards.

Myself, my boyfriend and my parents ordered from this Chinese as it had been recommended by friends. Well when it arrived and it was put on the plates, my dads foo yung looked more like dog vomit and was watery, the BBQ ribs looked and tasted undercooked and they were definitely not in BBQ sauce, it was fully of oil and tasted awful. I had salt and pepper chicken and it was smothered in garlic and I love garlic but it didn’t taste anything like salt and pepper chicken more like garlic chicken! The special fried rice was dry and tasteless! Would never go here again!!! Anyone is having a laugh if they think this is decent food!
