Camile Thai Ballyhackamore in Belfast

I don't understand the bad reviews here. I also think it's wrongly listed here - it's really not that expensive for what you get. Here are some of the things I appreciate about Camile Thai: 1. Biodegradable takeaway packaging (that is also super pretty). Nobody needs more plastic takeaway containers. Paper bag too. 2. I love that they offer a brown/wild rice mix as well as jasmine rice. 3. Great vegan options, great kids meal options. Something for everyone, in my family at least. 4. The food is really delicious. Nothing feels artificial; doesn't leave you with grease coming out of your pores or an msg headache. 5. The portion sizes are good. 2 meals could feed 3 people. There are meal deals online which they'll give you if you ask for them over the phone too (the website is iffy). Hope that helps someone!

Avoid. Complete waste of money. Really gone downhill. Bad service, they hung the phone up on us when we complained that our potatoes were completely undercooked, couldn’t get a fork through them. This is not the first time we have received undercooked and cold food either from Camile Ballyhack. Staff very unprofessional and argumentative on the phone. Used to be great but the food is not at all the same as what it used to be.

Tried Camile again recently after a poor delivery experience years ago, veg options had been good but tried a chicken dish for a change. Unfortunately the quality of chicken was very poor, half of it was inedible and had to be binned. Obviously using cheaper quality meat to keep the portion size large.

Avoid this place. Order took 2 hours to come and was cold and disgusting when it finally arrived. I tried microwaving it so I could eat it but it was so horrible I had to throw it all out. £27 in the bin. The gyozas were all ripped and stone cold. Chilli beef really chewy. Fried potatoes were cold and shrivelled. I tried calling multiple times when I was waiting and they kept hanging up. I used to love Camille and now won’t be back again.

Second time in a row that I've arrived for a pre-booked collection and it has been chaos. Food not ready and a sizeable queue of others seemingly experiencing the same issue. Food is typically tasty, but service has deteriorated significantly in recent months.

What has happened to the food? It was always so tasty beautiful tasty and I always looked forward to getting my next order. It tasted awful....I actually feel sick....I'm left so disappointed 😞 and I will definitely not be ever ordering from this place again

I am not going back again. Ordered collection and ended up waiting like forever on it. I was able to observe the kitchen from where I was standing. It was clearly under staffed and the Indian girl serving would need to go on a customer service course. When home I had the Green curry which out of 10 would give a 4. It was fine but nothing great. This is our own view on things here. Peter didn’t finish his meal.

So i ordered 3 Spice Bags from them which on the menu said £7.99 but they charged us £9.99 for them each. I also got 2 curry’s which cost us £2.50 EACH for the tinniest tubs ever. First thing is that the spice bags weren’t in bags and they got served in a tiny box, the tiniest box i’ve ever seen for £9.99, smallest portion i’ve ever seen. Although the food was good but this won’t even fill me up for breakfast, such tiny portions and i will not be back, I would say the cost of that should be £4.99 MAX i’d pay for that, nothing more. Very disappointed as i came here expecting a decently sized spice bag and it came out tiny.

Placed an order for delivery. No sign of any delivery and when I phone the restaurant, they keep hanging up on my call. They've taken payment and haven't delivered my order - avoid at all costs!

Avoid at all costs. Bland food and they then spam your email for years later. No unsubscribe link. NO way to stop. Awful place.

This was a takeaway from deliveroo. They put the meals in cardboard boxes the whole meal tasted of cardboard. I also got the tofu as I’m vegetarian and it was hollow inside. And for the price was ridiculous.

While the food was lovely, we were extremely disappointed with the customer service and felt that we were totally ripped off… firstly, they double charged us for one meal. Then, they said there was a mandatory up charge for the rice on our kids meal but they had no other option… so a child’s meal cost nearly the same at that stage to an adult meal. Then we were told they had no change in the till so had to overpay twice (as we got water bottles at a later stage after finishing our first drinks). No plates were brought for sharing starters, they just couldn’t be bothered. We were there when they opened at 4 pm. Really disappointing as no matter how good the food was the experience was very sub par and won’t be returning.

Well I brought my 2 Thai Friends here for dinner as they were really looking for Thai food.. Well we arrived inside 6tables.Was handed the menu we looked at placed oder had to pay before we ate food. The worst duck pancake rolls I've every seen but gave benefit of the doubt expecting real Thai food.My friends ordered Pad Thai they said it was rotten..we weren't given glasses for soft drinks no side plates..I'm just saying Golden Elephant in Carryduff is the buisness....

Ballyhackamore Camile. The spice bag is great and the Khao Soi Gai really tasty too. Not many places do a Massaman curry and I know they are good with vegetarian options.

We have had a few online orders and seemed to have been lucky but recently the delivery , quality of food and accuracy of order has got worse and worse. Last night was final straw - main meal with beef instead of chicken ( I don’t eat beef), several missing items and the food was cold . The last few weeks there have been items missing every time . Staff don’t seem to read the online notes either . Such a shame , we won’t use again

Have liked Camile over the years. On a Friday night we placed an order for over £40 with them ( estimated 45mins delivery). It arrived almost 2 hrs after we placed the order ... Needless to say it was cold. We called the store who offered to re-deliver the same order, we declined as we were hungry and this would have taken longer. We Asked for a refund. They told us that it would take over 3 weeks to process the refund... So they pressured us to take store credit which would be quicker and we would receive confirmation via email that evening. We didn't receive any confirmation and have now taken it to their main support channels of Camile instead of he branch. The customer service was deeply disappointing and we won't be ordering from here again. Sincerely hope they can improve on the customer service.

£13 for the tiniest portion ever... food wasn't even that good... will never be back This made me depressed

Ordered takeaway to be delivered, which took an hour to arrive, by which time the food was cold. The chicken dish I ordered was supposed to be ‘crispy’, but it was plain chicken coated in just a small amount little sauce, which was lacking in flavour and seasoning. Very small amount of chicken, which was outweighed by a large amount of rubbery, seemingly old, vegetables. The green beans mixed throughout weren’t cooked. Very disappointing for the amount I spent on food and delivery for one (£17). Unlikely to order again.

Delicious food , wide range of vegan options . We do miss the crispy tofu that has been withdrawn from the menu but there are other tasty starter options remaining. Nice staff and the food is ready very quickly :)

Food can be very hit and mis we used this place a lot one time fantastic next time very greasy oil dripping out of Pad Thai so this past year we have been giving a swerve ball , call n me stingy but this place ain't exactly cheap to be wasting two thirds of a dish because a different cook is working 😔

Excellent food, consistently good every time.

Although the food was good, this is the second time I got home to find the prawn crackers hadn't been added. It's annoying because they charge £1.99 for the, and they really make the meal.

Things have really gone down hill. I've ordered delivery and sat in recently. I ordered greens for delivery and it tasted awful. The veg was not fresh and must have been off. When I sat in its basically a glorified takeaway. Not a place to sit in anymore. Chicken skewers were dry as powder so I just left them. I won't be back having been a good customer for 3 years.

Ordered food online one evening and waited over an hour and still no delivery. Rang 3 times before they picked up the phone. Then they told me my order had left and it would be with me in 5 mins. Needless to say that didn’t happen and when it eventually arrived it was missing ingredients. Never again

One of the best massaman curry’s about! My go to for Thai in Belfast. Always served in lovely recyclable packaging when it can be and friendly reliable delivery drivers more recently too.

I do have to disagree with a few of the unfair reviews on here. We have enjoyed Camile’s food for years, the portion sizes are brilliant and great value for all you get it. We’ve had a few different delivery drivers and they all extremely prompt, informative and friendly. We’ve also dined a few times inside the restaurant and found the staff extremely friendly and nothing is a bother. Two thumbs up from me

This is the email I sent Camile after a collection that was suppose to be a Mother’s Day weekend treat: I arrived on time as was told it would be 5 minutes which is fine as the food should then be freshly cooked. When it was ready the mango rice pudding was added from the fridge. When I got home to eat shortly after the crispy chilli chicken seemed dry, chewy and overcooked or re-cooked. The pot didn’t have any of the “zesty sweet chilli sauce” because it had all been soaked into the chicken batter. So this was £9.99 for dry chewy chicken. Then to make things worse the pudding which I was looking forward to as usual, despite having a date on it for next month it was off. The mango sauce was totally fermented. Camile food is expensive but so far I have tried one delivery which arrived cold, and another order with a massaman curry with dry or overcooked beef. This is now the third time there has been a quality issue and for the price of the food it is really disappointing. Jenny replied “Thanks for reaching out. At Camile, we pride ourselves in our food and customer experience here at Camile so it's unacceptable for you to experience this at your local Ballyhackamore branch on the 18th of March. We plan to get in touch with the manager to see who prepared your meal to ensure we can make sure they're trained up to our standards of service.” Thanks Jenny, that may help other customers but you didn’t even offer to refund the desert that wasn’t fit for consumption and they should surely know to provide the hot food fresh.

Delicious fresh Thai food for mother's Day!

Crispy chilli chicken was excellent, extremely fresh and well cooked. Duck green curry was terrible, more like a soup and with so little meat. Jasmine rice and egg fried rice side orders were both good, piping hot and fresh. The restaurant is primarily a take away with a few tables, four or five I think, we sat in, but boy was the place freezing, couldn’t take our coats off! Reasonable value for money, main courses at £13.50 and £14.50, rices at ££0.99 and £1.99. Soft drinks at £1.50 each. Service okay, no chat or interaction with the server, but I guess take always were the priority. Hope to return soon to try a different dish.

FIRST and last visit. Sat at a table and waiter was not really happy to see us. He handed us menus and we ordered VEGAN food at what looked like fair value on the menus which he handed us seated at the table. We were very specific about the vegan items. The food tasted fine. But within 2 hours of eating I was glued to the toilet with a sick tummy. This only ever happens if the food is made with non vegan ingredients especially the curry sauce. When we left to pay expecting a bill circa £32 he told us £43! No bill just a demand. I paid then read the receipt. The prices were much higher than the menu and not by a consistent percentage eg the starter was £5.75 on the Menu but a flat rounded £8! on the receipt ( no wonder he did not want to give a Bill before payment ). More than 25% MORE than the advertised price on the Menu. When challenged he claimed it was because I was sitting in! If there are two prices then have 2 menus. A SCAM! Secondly VEGAN CURRY WAS NOT VEGAN! IF YOU ARE VEGAN AVOID THIS PLACE THEY PASS OFF ANIMAL INFUSED DISHES AS VEGAN .... SCAMMERS. Never again.

Had some vegan Thai food from Camile tonight - Pad Kee Maw and a couple of sides. It was fine. Didn't taste much like any Thai food I've ever had and I've been married to a Thai for 15 years. Didn't realise until I came too review it that it is part of a chain. You can tell I think. I would say the sauce my noodles were cooked with was ready made as you couldn't really tell what it was. Won't go again but wouldn't complain about it. They did forget to give me some cutlery though!

Over priced, franchise fast food. Staff are just putting in the hours, dishing out exact quantities of bland food. If you're into paying for nice paper bags then your in luck. The local independant places are vastly superior.

Ate there a few days ago, the personal was lovely, and they have a very good pad Thai.

Still waiting for my food to be delivered with an original estimated ETA of 1hr ago. Phoned to report the issue and after eventually getting through the person at the other end just put the phone down on me with a vague explanation of where my food was. No apology, nothing. Appalling customer service. I'll do Deliveroo next time.

Ordered three meals for delivery using the Camile App for a specified time with plenty of notice (75 minutes). Had to phone four times to chase up the order which arrived over an hour late. One dish was missing a key ingredient (chicken). No apology from the manager. Although the food was delicious, we will not be ordering again. Very disappointing.

Will not order from again and would not give 1 star if possible. Placed an order at 6:50pm with estimated delivery of 7:55-8:15pm. At 8:50pm the restaurant called me to say the delivery drivers car had broken down and another driver was coming, so it could be up to another 30 mins. At 9:40pm I called to say it still hadn’t arrived and was told it could be another 30mins. At 10:10pm I called to say it still hadn’t arrived and I wanted a full refund as I wasn’t paying for food that never came. The manager laughed down the phone that it wasn’t his problem and asked ‘do you want the food or not’. I said I had no interest in eating dinner 3 and half hours after ordering and to cancel it and provide a full refund. He took my order number and confirmed I would be refunded, again laughed down the phone and said ‘enjoy your food’. The food never arrived. The next morning I received a text from just eat saying ‘ The restaurant isn't going to give you any money back for your delayed order. They say: "We're really sorry your order wasn't delivered on time. We hope you enjoyed your food."’ So they attempted to charge me for food I didn’t receive. I managed to get a resolution through just eat to process a refund but would not recommend this restaurant or plan to order again. Had they called me once the order had been placed to make me aware that delivery wasn’t possible and unless I could collect they would need to cancel the order, that would have been fine - these things happen! But to not even contact me until nearly 2 hours after placing the order, to keep saying it’ll be another 30 mins and another 30 mins and to then attempt to charge me for food I never received after confirming I would be refunded is horrendous service. The manager tried to offer a free starter for ‘next time’ as if you would go near it again after that 👎🏼

Ordered Khao Pad Nutu tonight and the beef was underdone and tough. Managed about half of it but the rest was like rubber. Order no. 1758478 Owner gave me £20 credit against next meal which was fine.

If you are going to take payment and place orders online then keep to what you can provide. This place isn’t cheap and whilst nice food I expect good service regardless of third party delivery! It took 2 1/2 hours for an order to arrive with several phone calls! - we were told 50pm! Me and my family are not impressed -items missing and family let down not least myself who thought this would be a perfect choice!! Do not order online!! Compete let down!!!

Had to cancel takeaway order and finally give up on this place. Gave the benefit of the doubt after two extremely late orders. After an hour and 45 minutes and being told it was “two minutes away” had to cancel. Bad enough being so late, even worse being lied to about where the order is. To rub salt in the wound had to actually argue for a refund and not accept a free starter next time. There certainly won’t be a next time and more fool us for giving a third opportunity to show just how incompetent a takeaway could be!

Stunning takeaway food, healthy options are great especially after Xmas, lol. My son is type 1 diabetic, & celiac, so gluten free is a most, of which they have a lot of choice. My number 1 takeaway.

Messed collection order up and most of it was put in the bin. Had starters sitting under heating light for a long time so everything was soggy.I really don't mind paying a little more when the food is good, but your paying for a marketing and packaging budget in here. If you like a nice bag, happy-clappy affirmations and are not too picky about the food then this is your place. These franchises are not a patch on the local places who have built their reputations by being excellent. Very disappointing.

How can someone wreck a red curry & jasmine rice that bad… it tasted really old and salty and the rice was over cooked and vegetables undercooked! I paid at least a whopping 18 pound for that and a portion of spring rolls. I feel genuinely ripped off as the price doesn’t reflect the quality. I’ll definitely not be back as I’ve had it with these stupid chain restaurants…. There are better options like Kanto around the corner for a lower price and way better product. Sorry to be a moan… but I paid 18 quid!!! (I thought I ordered for 2) You essentially pay the price for an education not to come here…

Fantastic natural and fresh tasty food, the Tom Yam Goong Soup is incredibly well seasoned and full of flavour - highly recommended! Also really like the 100% compostable packaging and they sometime offer discount codes, very happy with everything. Sometimes delivery can take a little bit of time but its well worth the wait :)

I was not aware that this place been open for couple of years by the look of the reviews. Advertised on fb as new place so we ordered online. First of all way overpriced for what you get. Got 2 mains and 1 side , £33. Like that's what you pay in restaurant not takeaway...but as we thought it was a new place we bite the bullet. Second of all food was pretty bad. Warm ish..rice under cooked. Hard as a rock. Food over salted. Learn our lesson and will skip this place.

Ordered festive Thai duck to share along with tiffin box for 2 and kids meal. Had the festive Thai duck from Lisburn road before Christmas and it was lovely. Got it tonight from ballyhackamore and it was horrible. Neither of us could finish one serving. Duck was rubbery, no flavour in the sauce which was greasy and watery. Tiffin box was cold.

We ordered a meal from Camile Thai in Ballyhackamore which was over half an hour late (understandable as its new years eve). When we got home we discovered one of our dishes were missing and there was a maggot in the sticky cashew nuts (which I have shown a picture of). When we rang to tell the business about the problem the manager was rude, unapologetic and unhelpful. After much argument and telling us we should write a bad review, he offered a refund on the missing dish and a main course. However, this has not helped the disappointing experience we had on the phone and we will not be ordering from here again.

Love the Chicken Green curry!! Reminds me of home every time I eat it. Huge recommend!

Weve got takeaway from here a couple of times now and it was really good. I love my favourite, the phad krapow. Last time we tried the cauliflower bites which were vegan and amazing. Definitely recommend.

The vegan pad thai and vegan pad king are delicious, but small portion sizes and you don't get rice with the pad king so it is very expensive

Place has went seriously down hill. Service is now poor & slow & the new chefs aren't up to scratch. Feel sorry for the new chefs as they don't appear to be properly trained. I have been going here ever since the place opened & it appears to change management every few months but it has now stooped to a new low and I won't be back.

Not good Ate there today. Chicken was pink, red and sinewy in the middle. Vegetables cooked ok, but food in my view is dangerous. Have reported to the food standards agency, Belfast. At your own peril!

Perfect food for a perfect price

Myself and my friend attend this restaurant this evenin Overpricedi found that the food was definitely over prices. We ordered a plater to share for a starter, it was very small, there was only 2 chicken wings 2 chicken skewers that where very dry and over cooked. 3 spring rolls and the starter alone cost way over £ 10. Service was just ok. The main meal was good for my friend but my meal didn't have the correct vegetables in the curry that I order.

For takeaway we always get the chicken Pad Thai and the sticky chilli chicken and they're amazing every time. Very efficient and polite with recyclable packaging

This was my first visit to Camille Thai after hearing lots of good reports. However it took over 5 minutes for anyone to show up at the counter to take our order after the two chefs stood looking at us. They looked as confused as we were that there was no staff. So we sat down thinking maybe they will come to the table. Only for a member of staff to appear at the till and becon is over to make our order only for us to have to go back to the table and sit down again (confusing right!?). Seems badly organised and frustrating to get served. The food did arrive quickly once we ordered it and it was delicious. I ordered PhadThai which was served with chicken and prawn. Freshly cooked and very warm when it arrived at the table. Perfect! The own branded lemonade wasn’t great so would avoid that in the future. Would prefer to order for delivery in future just to avoid the staffing issues.

I love love love this place, food is amazing, there app is also fantastic and simple to use. I tend to do pick up which is super fast and easy. The stir fry noodles are delicious. The wings are a must try as well.

Didn’t even get a chance to try my food. The waiter was too busy showing the chef whatever was on his phone to notice that I’d been stood there waiting for well over 10 minutes to take my order.

Lunch specials tasty and reasonably priced

Cant complain about the food but the guy serving didnt have great english and i really couldn't understand him. He didnt explain the offer and when i asked about it he told me i had to pay vat on top of the price that was advertised on the board outside. He then told me the curries weren't on the offer, but ordered them, which i got confused about because he wasnt making sense. He got cross when I told him i didnt understand him. Can't fault the food thou.
