Red Panda in Belfast

Stumbled upon this restaurant, actually the wife did. Food was first class and great service. Very friendly and helpful staff will definitely return the next time I’m in the city.

It's an amazing restaurant. The staff are very attentive. The food is delicious. We were in Belfast for 2 nights and booked the restaurant for the 2 nights. It's always packed. So worth a visit ❤️💖

Food nice. One small error made with food but was quickly rectified by chef/staff. Chose food from the pre-theatre menu.....great value at £19.50 for 2 courses and £22.50 for 3 courses. With these you have a choice of soft drink or glass of house wine. Will definitely be back

Chicken felt raw. Egg fried rice barely had egg or any veggies. Only peas and it was yellow in colour. Prawn started was good. Katsu sauce was good as well. Chicken in black bean sauce gravy was nice but chicken again felt.less.cooked.

After eating my menu, roasted duck, I suffer food poisoning that increases from Sunday morning till Monday afternoon. I'm not happy because I spoil our holiday in Belfast due to feeling unwell.

Frozen seafood and f'in crabsticks, never asked once if all was OK until they collected the plates, still full with the unwanted meal. At payment I explained my complaint to which I was told they would knock off 10%, I said no, I wasn't paying for my meal as it was not restaurant standard, they then knocked off the £16 for the frozen seafood with crabsticks. I paid the rest of the bill but no sorry or acknowledgement of the fact I didn't enjoy the meal. Bad service and bad, bad food. Just my opinion though, you judge for yourself.

Had a good experience at the red panda. Mussels in black bean sauce is a must try, tasted really nice, presentation 10/10. The sizzling sliced beef in szechuan flavour was a show stopper though I thought it was a bit salty. Overall, it's been a 5 star experience for me.

Good food with good vibe. If you like Chinese Authentic food( not fusion) , this is a must go place in Belfast. It is also near Bus Station. Very Polite Chinese Waiters/Waitress also. Also ,you can practice with them your Cantonese . Menu has 2 versions. One in English with pictures and one in Chinese.

Today I'm ordering food was totally bad no teast nothing before was good I'm stopp ordering from that place not happy at all !!

The taste is very bad. I ordered Sichuan Dandan noodles. Sichuan is a place that likes spicy food in China. Obviously, this store is not doing it right, because it tastes completely sweet. I told the waiter that it was more spicy when I ordered, because I like spicy food. But in fact, they didn't do that. I asked the waiter for chilli oil again, and I was told that there was a charge for chilli oil. It's really outrageous. In China, adding some chilli oil is completely free - this is equivalent to asking the waiter for some ketchup in a western restaurant. How can this be charged? If the restaurant wants repeat customers, they should not do so. A bad night. It won't come again.

Best Chinese meal I've had in years. Fried dim sum appetizer & satay chicken on crust noodles main were delicious, highly recommend! Kirin shandy went down well too!

Overall, not a great visit. The man who greeted us was incredibly rude to multiple people at our table, and also the guests seated next to us. The ladies who took over serving our table were lovely and really apologetic but we were still put off by the rudeness of the man who welcomed and seated us. Many items on the menu were also unavailable the night we were there, while still being listed on the menu. Which seems redundant if you let people look at the menu and choose, without informing them of this. Almost everything I picked was unavailable so I just ordered broccoli in the end. Only for one of our party specifically asked to go to this restaurant, we would have left. She has also said she will not return and was extremely disappointed with our treatment that night after previously having only good things to say. On top of this, the service charge being added to the bill felt like too much, since we had mostly horrible service.

Despite being busy, and having good reviews and a broad and interesting menu, we were disappointed with the food. Eg Prawn and mango starter, which barely tasted of prawn, and with a gloopy sweet sauce and a small piece of mango. Char siu roast pork, dry, and presented without any garnish at all. I'd cook better char siu blindfolded. Vegetable sides were very scarce on the menu. I've had much, much better food from an average take away. Prices were not particularly cheap either.. rice/noodles/chips aren't included in the price. Basic choice of red or white wine... no mention what it might be...

Would not return or recommend, sizzling seafood was frozen fish and bad fish at that with a imitation crab stick to top it off, the birds nest was tasteless and the nest was stale, very disappointed 😞

Terrible food. The Szechuan chicken was actually sweet in flavor. No spice whats so ever. And it was just chicken, onions and green and red peppers. Isn't Szechuan dishes supposed to have shredded celery. Anyway that wasn't the problem, the problem was the food was just awful in flavor. The steamed dumplings I had for my appetiser tasted like last weeks left overs and the entree was just terrible. Stay clear from this "Chinese" restaurant unless you want something designed for boring bland sugary food. What happened to showcasing ones native dishes and flavors. Seriously why is it impossible to get authentic Asian food anymore. Just sad!

Best Chinese food I’ve had in the 15 years living in Belfast. Staff were very kind and attentive. All five of us enjoyed our meals.

Waited 25 minutes to get served

Very good genuine Chinese food if you use the Chinese menu rather than the Western menu. My Chinese wife rated it highly, and as someone that has been to China a dozen times I also enjoyed it. My only issue would be the initial attitude we got when booking - our party had 3 kids and they were very keen to get us in and out early when I called to make a reservation (told me we had to be done by 7pm), but were much nicer when we turned up and they realized my wife was Chinese. Considering late evening family style dining is normal in China, it would be nice to bring some of that culture to the UK instead of pandering to the local rednecks who think kids shouldn't be allowed near a restaurant until they're 16

Had a very nice two course meal - clean, and bright, restaurant with friendly staff. Easy to find location, just a short walk from city centre (15 minutes?) and prices on a par with other Chinese restaurants. Will be back 😀

We had 5 course set menu for dinner tonight. Duck pancake was good, chicken corn soup with crackers were good, combination curry was ok, chicken Szechuan was not spicy at all but the chicken was very tender, and crispy pork belly was excellent. Egg fried rice was ok. Ask for chilli oil and soy sauce will take the dishes to another level. Desserts (fried ice cream and banana fritter) were excellent and the batter was crisp and thin. I would like to come back to try their dry beef hofun or brisket hofun.

First time visiting and the food was amazing. Great service. Great value.

We had a great meal here last night the Duck in pancakes was fantastic and the Chicken Szechuan melted in your mouth.

So over priced £18 for dry pork belly and bland egg fried rice. I’ve been to take a ways with nicer food at half the price lol. Waste! Also kept being pressured into ordering a starter lol no thanks your stand alone dishes are pricey enough

Went on a busy Sunday evening. A lot of the customers were Chinese, which was a good sign! Although I was told that there may be a 30/40 minute wait for food in the end it was no more than 10 minutes. Good food and friendly service. Definitely recommend.

Food was fab. Curry was just how I ordered it. Extra hot n spicy. Draught beer was very disappointing to be fair. Staff so good.

I order well fried beef steak but I got boiled peace of meat without spices. Won't visit that place anymore.

I seriously don't understand why they have positive reviews. I went with friends and was not a good experience. Didn't like the atmosphere, nor decoration. Rude service from all the staff. Food was not great. Poorly cooked and prepared. And I love Chinese food but all their dishes were an absolutely disgrace. Money wasted.

I’m a tourist in Belfast. We walked into Red Panda as it’s walking distance from our hotel. I must say I was quite shocked to get such good authentic Chinese food in Europe. We have travelled to many countries in Europe and have had its share of westernized Chinese food. Red Panda serves authentic Chinese food. We enjoyed the roast duck, fried big intestine, beef and tofu soup plus the fish with salted veg. Kudos to the chef.

Booked this as website showed Pre Theatre menu available only to be told that this is NOT available on Saturday night! Just checked website again and no where does it say on Pre Theatre menu that this is the case! Consequently meal cost substantially more than expected. Mixed platter starter was good, beef curry nice but disappointed with the honey chilli chicken. Sauce was very watery and processed chicken. Won't be rushing back, have eaten in cheaper and better restaurants close by.

This food is poison. I ordered well cooked beef and receptionist said they can do it. But I got half boiled piece of not fresh meat!! NOT RECOMMENDED PLACE!! Better choise other restaurant!!

I ask person with glasses at the trade counter for sea bass fish. And I got recommendation from him to get one of their dishes. I got prawns instead of fish. I don't eat prawns because I have allergy. I had a bite of it because I didn't know it is not sea bass and I spent next half night in hospital. It is very bad experience. That guy should not lie to me and sell prawns instead of sea bass. I contacted my solicitor and he said it is 100% winning case. Sorry but you will get a claim letter soon. I hope your place will be closed as well.

Great food, lovely staff and quick service got to be one of the best Chinese restaurants in Northern Ireland would recommend.

I had my first meal in Belfast during my conference trip at this restaurant and I couldn't have been happier. The staff were incredibly friendly and chatty, which made for a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We initially ordered a dish that included bitter cucumber, but unfortunately, it was not available. However, the chef came out and personally explained the situation to us, and even offered alternatives which made us feel appreciated. I may be biased, but the food was absolutely delicious! And to top it off, the restaurant is conveniently located opposite the Europa Hotel, making it a great spot for anyone staying there. I highly recommend this restaurant for both the food and the fantastic service!

The beef capital was too sweet and the beef garlic sauce not too tasty plus the meat wasn’t too fresh . My son was happy with his beef brisket ho-fun .

Popped in on a Friday night and we were seated without a reservation. Quick attentive service and good food all made for an enjoyable experience.

We had an excellent meal here, probably the best Chinese I have eaten. The hot and sour soup was lovely. The place was busy but didn’t have to wait long to be served. I recommend booking at weekends.

Wouldn’t eat here if it was the last place in Belfast,we had booked for 5 pm on Saturday,when we arrived the most rudest manager told us we had no booking,even though I showed it to him on my phone,will never cross their door again.many better Chinese restaurants in this fine city.

I had the boiled rice with the curry and some chips the curry was burning my lips but it was good overall 9/10. My wife had the chilli and black bean noodles and she thought it was delicious 😋

This is a restaurant only for white people. The Chinese young lady at the reception saw us as non-whites and told us that the restaurant was fully booked which was a total lie. She wasn’t bothered to check but just lied in front of our faces. That night there was zones of plenty of tables and it was not Friday or the weekend. We went somewhereselse for dinner by the time we finished and walked past red panda, those tables were still empty as hell. I’m 100% sure we got discriminated by red panda.

Excellent service, great desert, good main course

Went there when we were in holiday while in Belfast. It was a Monday evening and Google Maps showed that it’s open. But to our disappointment it was closed and we don’t know the reason.

Had early din today as I walked from my Hilton across the street. Ladies serving were very nice & helpful but did not like the restaurant charged me £1 for a bit of chilly oil for my food! Don’t ask for condiments for your food you will get charged! They should at least advice customers there is a charge! I brought it up to the manager, mentioning I have not paid for condiments in all my travel in Belfast or Dublin! She said things have gone up in price & needed to charge! It’s not the £1 but the principal & not letting the customer know! Food was ok. I’ve had better Chinese food.

August 4th- We came here for dinner while visiting Belfast and it was pretty good. The food was served quickly and overall very tasty, though I wish my chicken dish had a bit more protein in it. The vegetable spring rolls were my favorite part of the meal and I would definitely recommend those!

点了一份川味毛血旺，一份五香牛肉，两碗米饭和一壶茶，总计33镑。价格在整个英国的中餐馆来说都是差不多的。毛血旺的优点，看上去比较清淡，不油腻，实际做到了辣味足够，并且加入了粉丝，算是我在英国吃过的多家中餐厅的毛血旺中比较有特色的了。它的缺点是肥肠较多（我吃过的都有这个缺点，可能是因为英国这边的猪肥肠没人吃，便宜吧），并且肥肠偏硬。牛百叶口感也稍硬，相比于我吃的其他家来说，牛百叶算不错的了。鸭血腥味很大，有点不习惯。五香牛肉给个差评，首先牛肉没有五香味，说明卤得不好，其次牛肉本身得腥味还很重（不知道是不是英国本地的牛羊肉肉质导致的），酱油味儿还很重。最后，本次用餐整体来说体验及格。

We went to have the pre theatre menu,good selection. The beef was tough needed tenderized more. The honey chilli beef changed its recipe. Sauce was very spicy. The meat was chunky,used to be shredded beef and sauce mild and honey. The chicken and corn soup not enough seasoning used to be nice. I think it's been taken over by new owners. Food and recipes has changed definitely. The crispy duck wasn't crispy it was chewy also. Not the same as it used to be. We where disappointed really. Check your recipt,we where over charged we told them. We felt rushed and staff stares at you eating. Kept asking us questions every 5 mins felt uncomfortable.

Definitely the best and historic Chinese restaurant in Northern Ireland from 1999. Gorgeous and perfect idea about Chinese food, the first but also the best.

Having been coming to Red Panda for more years than I care to admit I can honestly say today's set dinner was far an above the best meal we have enjoyed. Taking a tour around multiple Chinese Provinces you leave Red Panda with a party on your pallete. Thank you for another wonderful dining experience.

Lovely pre theatre dinner, great service and delicious food

FOOD POISONING, SERVED UNCOOKED CHICKEN WINGS. I ate here Saturday 23rd of October 2021 with my friend and ordered the chicken wings. I took several bites into my food and thought it tasted a bit off. After eating some more the inside of the chicken was cold and completely uncooked. I told the waitress and she said sorry and took my plate, I told her not to send me another plate as I immediately felt so sick from eating uncooked chicken. I was waiting for a staff member or manager to come and apologize properly for what had happened but it was never acknowledged after that. I couldn't believe no one came over to say something about serving me dangerously under cooked chicken so I presumed they would say something when the bill came and would have said sorry and that our meal would be free of charge since it was not cooked and then left me feeling so ill I couldn't eat. But no they charged us the full bill even when I highlighted to them again about the food that was served uncooked. Later that night our whole trip to Belfast was ruined as I spent the whole night and morning vomiting from the food poisoning and stayed in our hotel. I have never felt so unwell from eating somewhere in my life. Do not eat here.
