Madame Pho in Belfast

Wonderful food, tasty, real ingredients and nice atmosphere. 10/10

My mother and I had violent food poisoning from the pho. Ate here seven months ago and still have a food aversion to pho, cilantro, etc. I wouldn't wish that pain and suffering on my worst enemy. Lost almost 8 pounds though!

The food was yummy with generous servings, have had better value pho in my time (although doesn’t feel fair as my comparison is Melbourne, which has many great and cheap Vietnamese restaurants), the highlight though was the service. The waitress was quick to serve and the food came quickly, on top of this she noticed when I was squeezing my lime for the last bits of juice and brought me more lime, and then noticed when I was sweating from the spice and brought me iced water, I felt like royalty! Elena was her name, she should get a raise! I hope I am right in saying whoever manages this place makes it a good workplace, it seemed the staff were happy to be there and happy to provide a wonderful service :)

Went down hill alot. Small spring rolls and our pho was missing something. Didn't taste like it normally does, was like definitely not Vietnamese. Meat has gone up in price agaib. The lettuce the spring rolls came out on was dark brown and by its sell date. Wont be back

By far one of the best Pho 🍜 I have eaten in Europe. Flavourful, spicy, good meat. Excellent . Really friendly personnel.

Met friends for lunch at Madame Pho, Ormeau Road today. After chatting to Susan, front of house waitress, we ordered 2 shaking beef, 1 Korean chicken and 1 bau buns with beef short rib. All came with sides. Susan then appeared with a complementary starter of cauliflower buffalo wings for us to share...what a lovely touch, and delicious. All our food was piping hot and very tasty. Cooked, we were told, by Susan's husband Dennis. Huge portions so take advice when ordering. We just had soft drinks but wine price was reasonable enough if we had wanted. Will definitely be back. We got some great recommendations , and good craic from Susan. She's a great asset to the restaurant. Many thanks to all. One star removed for atmosphere purely because it was lunch not dinner.. Susan turned the fairy lights on to show how lovely it would be in the evening.

Lovely food with lovely service. The tastiest coconut curry I've ever had came with the crispy duck rice. The portions are huge, so you might want to consider how many dishes you are ordering. Special thanks to the lady who served us for recommending to visit Giant's Causeway. That definitely enhanced our visit in Belfast 🤗 PS: They only accept cash.

Nowhere near real Vietnamese food, and I was severely disappointed. I couldn’t believe what I was served was called “pho”.

This is not Pho as pho is made from stock from boiling down bones and should be slighly oily once skimmed several times. It also takes a long time to make and then simmer i.e. 12 hours. The base of this soup I would suggest is salt based with fish sauce and possibly some cinnamon. That being said I do love noodle soups from any part of the world however considering above £14 for a bowl of salty water, a tonne of noodles and a small plate of pork does not do it for me

Great afternoon spent with my friend, it was lovely and warm and cosy. Best staff I have ever came across, I would go back just to see them again. Cauliflower wings are amazing, really enjoyed the food. Would love to see a bigger menu. Well done guys, I’ll be back

Dining with an old friend. Wanted something different. We both had Pho (noodle soup) , one chicken and one crispy pork, served with fresh coriander, bean sprouts and chilies. Delicious. Great service. Highly recommend

“Recientemente visité a la señora Pho con mi novia y me decepcionó bastante. Pedí gambas, que llegaron crudas, opacas y grises. Cuando le llamé la atención al personal, fueron educados, pero insistieron en que las gambas estaban cocinadas, lo que claramente no era así. Esto es preocupante ya que consumir marisco crudo puede ser peligroso. El funcionario se ofreció a eliminar los langostinos de la factura, lo cual aprecio. Sin embargo, al liquidar la factura, mencioné que, por lo general, en tales situaciones, se ofrecería un descuento como gesto de buena voluntad. El funcionario siguió argumentando que los langostinos estaban cocidos. Esta experiencia fue decepcionante y preocupante. Espero que el restaurante se tome en serio los comentarios para mejorar su servicio y la calidad de la comida. Todavía me cobraron toda la factura.

No me impresionó fue a Dundonald. No regresaré. La comida no tenía sabor. El caldo era solo aromatizado en el agua. El curry de pato era solo sopa diluida a granel. El pato era masticable y gordo, demasiado cocido. Las patatas fritas eran simplemente congeladas. El arroz que acompañaba al curry estaba congelado. Rollos de primavera vegetales... bueno, todavía los estoy masticando. No sé lo que había en ellos era tiras largas de hongo negro cuerdas? Las albóndigas en el pho eran de color gris. Parecía comida rápida a granel. Billete de 100 libras para 5 personas. 2 eran agua potable. 2 cervezas y un plato cada una.

Chill vibes, great food (if you're a meat eater), love coming here. Pho and pork belly rice bowl are fab. The veggie options are a bit pathetic and flavourless. We did have a mix up on the gluten free items but they fixed it for us quickly. Be sure to ask for the specific gluten free menu if you need that.

This place is so so good! Their food is amazing (especially the spring rolls), as well as the pho! The waiters were very friendly, helpful and polite. And their portions are huge, I’m pretty sure one pho could feed 2-3 people. Definitely recommend!

Incredibly friendly, happy, attentive staff and lovely food. I have no idea if it is authentic Vietnamese food or not - I just know that it tastes great and is really good value! Will definitely be visiting again.

A cracker shop. This is where things really get going. Very good food. Lots of viatnamese, which speaks for the quality. Beer (bottles), wine, schnapps, everything is there. Friendly people. Not many tables. Food is made right behind the counter. Only cash is real. No cards. Very friendly staff.

I was told they don’t take bookings for two people need to be at least 4 or 4 above, but when I got there, I saw their booking book had reservations for tables of two—and even for one! How can a restaurant operate with such blatant dishonesty and inconsistency? This is an insult to customers. If they have a booking policy, it needs to be followed or communicated clearly to everyone, not just to suit their convenience. This level of unprofessionalism is outrageous.

Had the pho noodles and having had the real thing numerous times in Vietnam and across Asia, it’s good but not excellent. I’d give it a 8/10. The broth could be more seasoned as with the meatballs too. Regardless, it’s good and well portioned. The fried cauliflower wings were excellent and worth trying. And the fried spring rolls were alright. In lieu of being in Vietnam, this place is a good stop.

I had dinner here with my girlfriend. We had two vegan pho, which has a high quality/price ratio. We also shared a summer roll, which was good but not excellent and slightly overpriced. The door was also often kept open, and in the evening it can be a bit cold.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent visit to Madame Pho on Oreamu Road. I ordered the beef short ribs, but it seems they gave the dish to the wrong table and then an older lady, who appeared to be the manager, served it to me from the table beside mine—food that had clearly been used and bitten by another customer. This is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about their food safety and hygiene practices. The situation was so disgusting that I left early with my boyfriend, leaving our food unfinished. I can’t imagine what other lapses in food safety might occur if they are willing to serve food in such a manner. If you're looking for a restaurant that values cleanliness and proper customer service, I strongly recommend avoiding Madame Pho. There are plenty of other places where you’ll be treated with the care and respect every diner deserves.

Was looking forward to trying something a little different. So we went on a Tuesday evening thinking might be quiet but was actually very busy. We visited the new glengormley restaurant. Service was slow. The food was ok. Staff were lovely but seemed a bit lost. We had to keep reminding them of our drinks orders. Cocktails were fab though. Will try again as maybe just finding their feet and possibly just a bad night as have heard other people raving about it.

Dundonald venue nicely decorated and clean. Fresh spring rolls nice, banh mi good. Hard to eat as no cutlery provided, no napkins provided. All food arrived about 2 minutes after we ordered, makes you wonder how long it’s all sitting for. Chicken pho was so bland, tasteless, rubbery, nothing like traditional Vietnamese pho. Techno dance music playing loudly in background. Staff miserable (widely rumoured to be paid below legal NMW so I can understand why!) big push to take cash only (I wonder why) wouldn’t go back

Such fantastic friendly and professional service. When we walked in,our coats were taken and we were warmly welcome. Tje food was really good and the quantities were great! Highly recommended!

Amazing restaurant! So good we ate here for both nights we stayed in Belfast. The staff (Mark, Melvin, Emily and apologies to the others whose names I didn’t catch) were outstanding in their service. Their portion size was very generous and the food was delicious and well priced. Cash or bank transfer only though.

Small Vietnamese restaurant located outside the center of Belfast. The staff is friendly and the service is fast. The dishes are well prepared and the portions very generous. Good prices.

The beef brisket rice noodles are rich in flavor and very satisfying to eat😌 The clerk is polite and considerate and has a good service attitude 👍

Food was tastey. Decor is lovely. However, our starters arrived separately, before our drinks. Our main courses also came separately, and we had to chase for both courses. We felt rushed to leave the table, staff kept lifting drinks that were unfinished. Would order in if we were to go again.

I ordered the irish brisket Pho. the portion was huge portion with a lot of meat. the broth and the meat was tasty and tender.

We originally visited shortly after it opened on Botanic as we were super excited to see a local Vietnamese food spot, but we were really disappointed with the food. None of the delicious flavours we’ve come to expect from Vietnamese food elsewhere. Following loads of recent positive Instagram posts we thought we’d try again… Nope, still quite bland and the meat was ridiculously overcooked and tough. Real shame, I just don’t understand the glowing reviews on Instagram

Just had lunch in the new Ormeau Road branch - never been to a Vietnamese restaurant before (although have travelled in SE Asia a lot but not Vietnam sadly - but I will). Excellent I really enjoyed It both the food and the service - I will be back. It is a great addition to the Ormeau Road. I also l like the fact that it is open for lunch and throughout the afternoon- to evening as I am very much a lunch time , late afternoon early evening person. Welcome to “the road” and I wish you every success 😊

Tried for a second time as we weren't fussed the first time but thought it was what we ordered. I had the vegan noodle soup pho as all other ones had bone brothers. Tasteless....like no taste. My partner had the one with all the meats and at 17 for his he said it was also bland. Disappointing. Could be so much nicer. No idea how this made it to a chain likely on the insta photo hype

We spent 3 days in Belfast and the award for the best meal goes to this quaint, cozy vietnamese restaurant. Food is authentic and it comes quickly, the staff is friendly and not pushy unlike other places we visited. Personally, I like that they don't accept credit cards, it's beautiful to know there are still businesses able to thrive without having to pay a fee to the corporate world. Besides the pho that is incredibly flavorful, it has an array of vegan options that is more varied and better thought out than anywhere else we went in the city. Last but not least, the atmosphere is just perfect for a date, casual and romantic at the same time. It's unfortunate that we discovered Madame Pho on our last night because we wish we could've gone there again.

Absolutely love this place. Been to many Pho places across the world. This is one of the best out there. If you want something really delicious try king pho and tea and fried ice cream.

We had been recommended multiple times to go here, we both ordered the vegan pho but was sadly completely tasteless and we had to add a lot of soy sauce and sriracha to make it edible

Wasn’t a massive fan, heard great things but food was very bland I found, went for dumplings which were nice , the chips were skinny fries that I’d thought maybe frozen , the bao buns had no flavour , the pho soup was so bland was basically just noodles and boiled chicken , didn’t taste of any stock or flavour, wouldn’t rush back

Friendly staff, great portions (come with an appetite) and very reasonably priced. Very attentive to food allergies and advising appropriate menu options. I had Pho Tai - the broth was delicious and there was a large portion of sliced meat. My husband's King Prawn Curry was also a great choice. Well worth a visit.

Very tasty Vietnamese street food. The curry and pho were lovely. This restaurant is in what I would call a " University area" Casual setting with young casual servers. No frills place with exceptionally good food.

What a gem. Note that this restaurant is cash only, but there is a nearby ATM. We arrived at a peak time, but they took our names, and we were called and seated within ten minutes. The pho was heavenly (I had the duck special), and the fresh lime/mint soda has become the theme for all my summer drinks henceforward. Ordered a delicious side of garlic broccoli, which was huge, totally unnecessary with the giant and generous pho. I couldn't finish either, despite it being so, so good. My husband loved his spring rolls and ban mi. We have agreed that this will be a mandatory stop every time we visit Belfast. The service was swift, pleasant and professional, and I admired the waiter's quiet, relaxed, and smooth management of a jovial but clearly intoxicated guest who rolled in from a nearby bar.

A definite recommendation for anyone in belfast. Loads of excellent quality food for a great price, it can get really busy as I think quite a few people are realising how good the food is now but we have still been able to get a table walking in a couple of times. Would recommend the Pho and coffee. The staff were really welcoming, quick and attentive

Vietnamese cero pho in Belfast!

My favorite place to eat in Northern Ireland, amazing soups and curry. quick friendy service and unbelevable flavours. ive spent ten times more for less flavour in restruants all over NI. the baggette is ok but the rest is to die for. I must have been here 30 times and each time i am amazed by the flavours.

On way back from the Botanic Gardens in Belfast, we stopped at this tiny eating place for lunch. The food was amazing, very tasty, large portions and quick service. The only hitch was that it was cash only, so had to make sure we had enough before entering the place. Worth a visit, as we felt it was good value for money. Very pleasant staff as well.

It’s a wee place for Vietnamese cuisine. They serve almost similar to Vietnamese food taste in Vietnam but don’t serve veggies as much as what you could get in Vietnam.

The food is so good! The staff are also very friendly. However, it is a real pain to the customer that you don't take card. It is 2024! When you are in Botanic, the nearest cash machine that the staff suggest is across the road and up a little at the train station, but it's a dodgy wee spot of town. I think it would be more customer-friendly to just accept card so we can make payments hassle free. Also, if you buy a gift voucher, you can only use it in the exact madame pho you bought it from. You can't buy one in lisburn road and then use at botanic. That was also a bit annoying for the customer. Overall, the food is great and the staff are friendly but the customer experience definitely is not prioritised.

Not very authentic, the bhan mi was swimming in mayonnaise no flavour. Pickled carrot had no taste of vinegar, skimpy amount of coriander. Even worse was the Vietnamese coffee they gave me. As you can see from the picture it only had a 1/4 teaspoon of coffee and not 20g as it be for a Vietnamese coffee. A Vietnamese coffee is supposed to strong and sweet but this was a glass of dirty dish water. The only reason I can think of why someone would do such a thing is because Vietnamese coffee is quite expensive and they wanted to stretch it out... I hate penny pinchers 🤦 Never again.

A nice little restaurant. We traveled to Vietnam, and the Pho served at Madame Pho is very close to what we had in Vietnam. We really enjoyed the food; I especially liked the Pork Belly Pho. The pork was awesome. We also had chicken wings to share. Everything was yummy. The only thing is their Vietnamese coffee is not made with fully Robusta beans. They are a mix of Arabica and Robusta, where Arabica overpowers Robusta. That's why the coffee wasn't as authentic. Just a recommendation to purchase 100% Robusta beans because they give a particular flavor to the coffee. Other than that, it was absolutely enjoyable.

Our second visit. Tried duck Pho this time and honestly cannot explain how delicious it is. The broth is to die for. I love that you get all the little herbs and spices on a side plate to be able to add yourself as you prefer. The duck melted in your mouth, cooked to perfection. Salt & chilli squid maim course for my partner was also very tasty. Very generous size portion too. The restaurant is quite small inside which makes it nice and cosy. It is cash only but there is a cash point just a few doors down on the corner. 10/10 would highly recommend.

We tried the famous pho. It was so delicious. The broth was simply amazing. This is a generous portion for one person. The staff were very friendly. They made sure our preferences were met. It’s was worth the money. Will defenitely recommend

On my return to Madam Poh's, the familiarity of the place was comforting, but it was the second visit that truly elevated my experience. Brian, our server, made all the difference. His exceptional customer service skills really elevated our day to an extraordinary level. Brian's cheerful demeanor, warm invitation, and unwavering helpfulness were unparalleled. He truly stands out as the epitome of excellent front-of-house staff. I wholeheartedly recommend returning to Madam Poh's solely for the remarkable service he provides. And as for the food – it's truly exceptional. Just a friendly tip: arrive with an empty stomach, as the portion sizes are generous and incredibly filling. It is recommended to get 2 dishes between both because its quite filling by itself (unless you are really really hungry, get extra). Also, they accept cash only, so bring a minimum of 30 pounds to spend for 2 people. There is a cash machine opposite Madam Poh (Spar side) keep a look out. If you are planning to come over, the landmark is near TownSquare (Botanic Avenue). Enjoy!

Dined with friends this week, ordered a few starters and sides to share, aswell as mains and the portions are massive. Salt and chilli wings were stunning, highly recommend the broccoli the dressing is so good. The curry and pho were really tasty. Excellent value for money

Good place to eat in a good price.

It was on A freezing cold Thursday Night. But the Food was just sublime. I had the Fuh King (not joking) dumplins And Banana Friters. If I could give 6 * I would. Also great value.

Only real positive thing was the service. The food is what you would get in a local chinese restaurant, i don't think this is authentic vietnamese food at all. Definitely overpriced for what you get.
