The pad Thai and Tom yum soup with tofu have changed my life I’m so glad I’ve found this restaurant

Great little place that I constantly crave - constantly good food with quick, friendly service. Really good Gluten Free selection too!

I used to be a fan but lately it has gone downhill a lot. Some of the food looks 'bought in', the portions are smaller and some dishes not packed with flavour as they once were. Also while its BYO they charge both corkage and a 10% service charge for tables of 4 or more which puts a lot on the bill. And worst of all they are quick to ask you to leave after 9:30 on a Sat night - asked my party to leave and wait outside on their taxi (it was on its way so after spending over £120 -and not for the 1st time - you would think we would be given the courtesy of waiting inside!!)

He sido fan de Khao desde hace bastante tiempo, ya que me encanta la comida tailandesa y BYO, sin embargo, mi visita más reciente podría ser la última. La comida era lo suficientemente sabrosa, pero las porciones eran tan pequeñas (particularmente el Pad Kee Maho? y el Curry Rojo) y jugamos a cazar el langostino en el Pad Thai. En una época este era un buen lugar - comida fresca, porciones decentes y a un precio razonable. no más. Las porciones se han vuelto más pequeñas, los precios han subido y han introducido un cargo por descorche y servicio que se suman considerablemente a la factura y lo hacen demasiado caro para lo que obtiene. Encima ese servicio se ha vuelto más lento y al final de la noche te dan la factura y te piden que te vayas.

Mi primera visita anoche con amigos, pero sin duda volveré como experiencia brillante. Personal muy amable y atento y comida increíble, tuvimos rollos de cigarros, gyoza y galletas de gambas para empezar, y pad thai & curry verde tailandés para la red, todos estaban deliciosos. Se lo recomendaré a la familia y colegas de trabajo también😊

I’ve tried a few Thai places on Lisburn Road but this is my favourite. The cooking is superb!

He comido aquí varias veces y siempre disfruté de la comida, SIN EMBARGO, anoche fue la tercera ocasión que asistí con un grupo y esta será la última. Al igual que en ocasiones anteriores, el servicio fue azaroso en el mejor de los casos. Nuestra comida llegó como un grifo que gotea muy lentamente y muchos terminaron su red antes de que otros hubieran recibido comida. Debo decir que el tamaño del grupo no era enorme, tal vez 14. Tan pronto como terminamos nuestra red principal, nos pidieron la factura, que era inexplicablemente cara, ya que la mayoría de nosotros teníamos uno tenía un plato principal. Propinamos generosamente (porque esa es la naturaleza del grupo con el que estábamos). Un minuto después de cargar la considerable cantidad de pago el personal abrió la puerta para dejar entrar aire frío y nos dijo que cerraban. Un sábado por la noche, a las 10 de la noche, la mayoría de nosotros todavía teníamos copas de vino delante. A las 10. ¡A las cinco de la tarde nos habían pedido de nuevo que nos fuéramos y el personal realmente abrió la puerta y se sentó afuera en su coche! Una vez más, nuestros grupos estaban formados por señoras muy encantadoras que se sintieron obligadas a dejar sus vasos medio llenos y seguir adelante. Se les había permitido dejar digerir su comida con una copa de vino y salir a las 10 . 30 pm, entonces la noche se habría salvado a pesar de la farsa de comer con > 30 minutos de diferencia. Desgraciado. Nunca volveré, ni como grupo ni siquiera como pareja. Da tu dinero a uno de los muchos otros restaurantes fantásticos en la carretera de Lisburn.

Una fiesta de cinco personas tenía entrantes y plato principal por alrededor de £ 25 cada uno. La comida era sabrosa y tenía mucho sabor. BYOB ayuda a mantener el precio bajo. Yo tenía las alitas de pollo coreanas y la almohadilla de langostino tailandés y recomendaría ambos. Es una pequeña cena casual, pero tenía un número decente de personas para un miércoles por la noche. Volvería a visitar cuando esté en Belfast o probar su comida para llevar. El Chelsea al otro lado de la carretera también es bueno para una bebida de antemano.

Highly recommended South east Asian restaurant. Extremely delicious items with pocket friendly price. Lovely decor and hospitality. My favourite ones are fried tofu as starter and bang bang chicken and Phuket special dish as main courses.

My favorite place in Belfast! It’s hard to find food that has flavor and cooked with care, but Khao is definitely the one.

Food great and well worth the price staff very attentive and friendly

So I lived in Thailand for many years and still visit to this day so I know what the food and drinks are like. I firstly asked for the Mamasam curry but they only offered this in beef as it was already pre made so opted for the Thai Red curry, basically was just a red colour water with chicken no flavour at all I asked for a Thai tea not sure what it was that come but I can assure you it wasn't Thai tea. Very disappointing to say the least

Another great night at this great little Thai resturant. All the food was excellent as always and the staff are friendly Also BYO with a £2.50 charge

First time visiting last night. The food and service was excellent. I dropped a star for atmosphere as the restaurant was chilly, though this wouldn't stop us returning.

I ordered thai green curry chicken and rice.the curry didn't look or taste like curry.it was only water with a little spice in it not good

I’ve been here quite a few times, but never taken the time to write a review. It has always been great! The menu isn’t too overwhelming, I think I’ve had most of the menu. Even the tofu which I’m not usually a fan of is great. I would recommend the tom yum soup, the gyoza and any of the noodle dishes. My friends are big fans of the curries too. I can’t believe the place isn’t packed all the time.

Once again great tasting food and the BYO policy helps however I think the £2.50 corkage on top of a 10% service charge (4 or more) is excessive. If you are going to charge 10% (and I would always tip) then forego or reduce the corkage

Fabulous food. Tasty and authentic Thai food. Good portion sizes. The Korean wings were lovely. We had the noodles with chicken in peanut sauce. Very good.

First time in Khao and it was sensational. The food was delicious and the service top notch. Would highly recommend!

Fabulous experience in Khao tonight, had gyoza to start followed by a Chicken Bang Bang Bowl and Veggie Pad Kee Mao. Excellent food, lovely interior and great service. Our server was super helpful and everything came really quickly. Thanks so much - will definitely be back and recommending!

Highly recommend this little restaurant. The food is delicious and freshly made and Wilson and Juan are excellent staff.

First ever google review. I decided to leave my first google review just to spread how nice this place is 😂 Above all, I’m gluten intolerant and it’s so hard to find a place that sells ‘tasty’ gluten free food. But Khao has OMG so many gluten free dishes that taste nice and affordable! I ordered 4 dishes myself as I wanted more and more 🤣

Great Thai restaurant could be a little brighter inside but food and service was divine

Lucky decision to try KHAO for a early dinner after spending a great day at the Belfast “Love yourFood” show. We hadn’t booked and were shown graciously to a window table. Friendly staff helped us make choices from the menu and we were offered a free starter since we were “ eating early” Everything we ate was delicious. Fresh crisp vegetables, everything perfectly seasoned and beautifully presented. Attentive, polite service and nice relaxed atmosphere. A real little gem of a restaurant. We both want to return and try everything else on the menu. The restaurant is BYO, casual and serves great food. Highly recommended by us two foodies. Thank you for a lovely, unexpected experience.

Great food, dynamite prawns and pad kee Mao were both very tasty. The service was very quick and friendly. It's not licensed so you can take your own beer or wine. Definitely worth a visit

Delicious food, good service and friendly staff. We ordered the peanut noodles, pad Thai, keto chicken and gyozas, all were tasty. Only issue was that the restaurant itself was a bit cold so bring a jacket if sitting in. We will definitely return.

Quiet little restaurant on Lisburn Road. Very impressed with the quality & service. Not your flashy restaurant - just a nice atmosphere with lovely food

The food was actually really nice and good quality. Despite what didn’t look to be a big portion turned out to be very filling! Value for money Is good. 4 stars rather than the 5 as the food was only just warm after it arrived 10 minutes after the allocated delivery window. The delivery driver was very pleasant and I can only assume they had slight difficulty finding my place. Would definitely order again but maybe collect myself so I can enjoy the food hot.

Food was oily and rice portion very small. Restaurant food is much superior.

Staff were so wonderful, i have a speech impediment and autism, and when i went i was very anxious so I couldn't speak and the waiter was very understanding and let me point to what i wanted on the menu. Food is outstanding with huge portions to take home for later for such low prices, the food tastes fresh and you can tell how much love they put into it. Can't wait to go back.

We had an amazing experience here this evening. Kate and the other members of staff were so friendly and the food was just top notch. Both of my sisters are coeliac and there were lots of great gluten free options. Will be back as soon as possible!

Beautiful place for a night out. Loved the bold wallpaper, and yes the meal was sumptuous.

So, first of all, it doesn't taste good at all. For example their Tom yum soup looks the same as the red curry dish. And Tom yum soup taste like a vegetable soup. Basically the red curry dish is like vegetable soup with some curry. If you are from Asia, please try some pizza. If you really really really need some Thai food, go to super market, get some curry sauce.

We all really enjoyed our meals. My vegetable peanut noodles was fantastic, full of fresh vegetables with a very flavourful peanut sauce. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant was cozy. We will definitely go back.

Pretty good and as one who ate Thai food in Thailand, it's clear that the chef is Thai and seasoning is indeed true reflection of the Thai food! Limited menu options.

Best Asian food in Belfast in my opinion.

We were looking for somewhere to eat on a Sunday night before a concert, and just happened to pass Khao while driving down the Lisburn Road. Had a quick look at the menu, as someone who's gluten free, I was immediately drawn to it given the variety of GF dishes. So went in, and so glad we did. Food was delicious and lots of GF options. The waiter was also lovely and so friendly and helpful. Prices were extremely reasonable, especially given the location. Would definitely recommend, and will definitely be back.

On a night out enjoying the delights of the GAWA (Green and White Army) at Windsor Park Football Stadium, so for food we decided to settle for Thai Food along the ever so busy Lisburn Road. We came across the little charming Khao restaurant and me anmd friends got a range of dishes and some prawn crackers for the table. The food was delicious with all the usual asian fusion and flair but the talking point is the price. £9 for a Main Course meal in a Belfast City Restaurant, now that is just unbelievable value. Anytime I am along the Lisburn Road I may just come calling by.

Order late and items missed... called the restaurant and thr missing items were VERY quickly delivered makes the initial delay even more frustrating

Not sure what happened, my masamam curry was basically a tray of water, absolutely disgusting. Whoever put that meal together should be ashamed of the standard they hold themselves to. I want a refund

Khao was great. Relaxing atmosphere, lovely, pleasant, good craic staff. Food was great too & it's bring your own. Didn't have dessert as we were too full but it looked good. Can't wait to go back.

As an avid connoisseur of authentic dining, my word, I implore you all to feast your senses in this Palace of flavour! Basing my experience from an entirely macro perspective, I was yet still bewildered at the kind service and sublime cuisine. The experience I had of the dishes (Paa Kee Mao, &Laksa) mirrored the fable of the trojan horse, the presentation worthy of the divine, and yet under the appearance, the taste, was quite another thing entirely, and instead of 100 Greek men busting out at me, it was an array of intense ,rich and genuine flavour, fit for the gods. 10/10 experience. Indeed, I was so engulfed within the world of flavours that I forgot to even take a picture of the meals, and when I awoke from this trance like state I had realised that I had already finished the entire meal!

Best pad Thai I’ve experienced in Belfast!!

Delicious food! Went in at 3pm on a Thursday so it was quiet. Very nice and friendly staff.

I posted the review below about speedy delivery... And all the other reviews by Lauren is me. Eating my words right now as im currently reheating my order in a pan, as microwave is broken, hence 2 orders this week. Got a text 20 mins before arrival to say it was 'on its way'. What way that was I don't know as i live 1. 1 miles away. Via Newry. So disappointed as i ordered 3 starters and with delivery was £19.50. Shocking

Got an uber eat delivery. First time , and wow, it is awesome. Beautiful, fragrant, not oily, and properly hot ( I did ask for extra hot and it certainly was). So rare you get authentic Asian food in Belfast but delighted to have found another example and an absolute gem. Will be back and soon. This food is ace. Thank you very much !

The worst Thai food I have every had came out cold, the owner Kate or Katie is so false and fake, I have been to Thailand many times and had better on the streets of Bangkok. Would not recommend to anyone unless you want bland and cold Thai type food, it made me stomach so upset within 30 minutes of leaving the awful place

All the food was delicious but laksa was marginally under seasoned. It’s actually hilarious that I bothered to type that but maybe it’ll help the chef add slightly more salt to that dish. Everything else was spot on. The starters are all great, we ordered a bunch. I wish you could order portions of rice though.

The food is absolutely gorgeous however have gone off ordering as they were an hour late in delivery and forgot one of our bang bang bowls. Tried to ring numerous times and phone was left off the hook. Won't be bothering to order again as this has happened too many times.
