Ginza Kitchen in Belfast

Visited on a weekend for a dinner for the first time. On first impressions, the decor was nice, chairs were comfy though not much room to comfortable set your feet due to large table base design. Chopsticks are nice too. Music was a curious mix of pop and maybe rap? I feel like quasi-Japanese music would have slightly elevated the setting, as would have more a formal dress code for staff - Nike slacks and caps I was not personally a fan of but service was friendly enough on interaction. As it started to get busy, the volume all round was quite loud and difficult to have normal level conversation. The menu is very nice, however, not too overwhelming but certainly caters to many tastes. The pumpkin katsu bowl was very big for one person (tbf it is for sharing) and really yummy. Rice was lovely too. I did find it curious that they don’t serve kombucha on the menu though and think this would be a nice addition. Towards the end of our meal, we didn’t get asked if we wanted a dessert menu at all and took a long time for plates to eventually be cleared. Overall, however, I would be back for the pumpkin katsu, perhaps more for takeout than sit in but I would recommend.

Went here for my friends birthday and we hadn’t even said it was her birthday and the waiter saw her badge and brought us over a surprise cheesecake! Was so lovely thank you! The Japas deal is incredible value especially with the cocktails. The chilli squid was very nice 😍

Booked a reservation Saturday night. Upon checking train times we realised we would be running 15 minutes late. We rang in advance to inform the restaurant of this and they made no attempt to accommodate even though the issue was out of our control and we would have been finished within the allocated time scale. Won't be back again as highly inconsiderate.

LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS PLACE Definitely my favourite Japanese restaurant. Wonderful atmosphere, amazing food and lovely staff. You're welcome from the moment you step through the door.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Food is amazing love going here for a date night, duck rolls and yaki soba are delicious and cocktails are nicely garnished as well as being tasty. Service is good, some days can be a bit slow even when not busy, but the staff are friendly. Atmosphere is lovely perfect date night conditions, decor is gorgeous and lighting isn't harsh with nice seats beside the window and a cute smoking area. Overall really well deserving of a 5 star sparkling review :)

This was the first time I'd eaten Japanese food since I'd visited Japan and I was very impressed. Amazing food, pretty apple-blossom decor, nice staff. We asked for two high chairs and this was no problem. There was also plenty of space to park a pram by our table.

We went to Ginza tonight under recommendation from my bosses. Atmosphere upon entering the restaurant was lovely and felt very authentic. We were seated quickly and had a decent amount of time to choose what we were having. We got the Japas deal with kaarage chicken, pork gyoza and duck bao alongside a steak teppan, chicken katsu, egg fried rice and xo chips. Food was absolutely stunning, definitely would order all of these dishes again. Cocktails with the Japas deal were amazing, perfectly sweet. Unfortunately (we are aware they were rather busy and there was very few staff working from the seems of it) service was poor from the moment our plates got cleared. We were never offered a refill on our empty glasses that say at the edge if the table for 45 minutes, not offered a dessert menu and we were not offered our bill. Our waitress was past a few times and didn't take much notice of our table at all. We got bored of waiting and finally got our bill after a long wait. Our waitress also never returned to our table to collect our bill so we left and told the person at the door our bill and payment was on the table. Rather unfortunate as I've heard amazing things about this restaurant from both of my bosses and we're looking forward to their artisanal gelato.

It has to be said – since COVID, the quality of restaurant food in NI has plummeted. I got so sick of writing bad reviews that now I only write one if the quality is so shockingly bad (eg Dobbie’s Garden Centre & The Boathouse, Antrim) that you really need to be warned. So it’s a real pleasure to write a good review about a place which deserves it. We’ve popped in here a couple of times since we noticed it (easily missed, modest frontage), and been impressed. The first time, we had some sort of sharing platter (Bento Box?) – sorry I didn’t make a better note of it at the time, some weeks ago now. It consisted of lots of little titbits – sushi etc, and was immaculately presented, but not really what I was looking for. I kind of knew that when ordering, but felt adventurous. If you like sushi etc, you’d be happy. The service was extremely polite and helpful, as you’d somehow expect in a Japanese establishment – lots of things I didn’t understand were patiently and courteously explained to me. Second time, we ordered dishes which were slightly more Western in nature, and loved them. I had Pork Ramen, which was a bowl of very tasty broth with large slices of braised pork belly, vegetables and noodles. My companion had Yaki Soba, which is a delicious plate of noodles, stir fried with chicken, king prawns and vegetables. She couldn’t finish it, so I did – I’ll be having it next time. Please give these guys a try – there are so many restaurants out there now serving inedible food that the odd good one deserves your custom.

Food is okay, but not hugely authentic. The service isn't the best, the girls were lovely but the drinks took a really long time, no clearing of plates for a long time when we'd finished eatting, then we couldn't finish our rice dish so asked if we could take it home. Usually restaurants would take it into the kitchen, put it in a takeaway box for you and give it back. But a take away box was just slapped on our table, it may have not been a big deal if we had any utensils with which to put it into the box!? It's not the end of the world but all these things added up to just a bit of half arsed experience! We won't be back but it's not terrible, just not great either unfortunately!

Service was very poor, barely came near us.. didnt ask once if everything was ok, did we want another drink etc. Food took forever to arrive (the place had two other tables) when food eventually arrived at first it was ok, the further we got into the sushi the worse it became. Rice was very soggy, fish was rubbery. It just wasn't that standard we are use to. It's sad to say but we won't be back.

Delicious Japanese food and tasty cocktails. I wouldn't normally think of Japanese, but after a friend took me here I've gone back several times.

Some of the best Japanese I’ve eaten in a long time. Tasted superb and the cocktails were awesome. Definitely recommend. The Maroyaka Prawns (I think that’s what is was) were exceptional. The most amazing smoky flavour to the butter sauce.

Ginza is one of my favourite restaurants in Belfast and easily the the best Japanese restaurant here. Unfortunately my last experience was quite disappointing. The food was very late. However, when it did arrive it was very mixed the Teppan was excellent but the Sushi was remarkably poor. Servers were friendly but did not approach us after delivering the food, we were so hungry at this point when the food came that we gave up trying to get their attention to get some soy sauce. The manager was kind enough to give one of the drinks for free for the delay in the food tho. I hope this is just a once off issue and not an indication things to come, as Ginza is one of my favorite restaurants.

Excellent food..but added 10% service charge on a 3 person table. This has happened second time. Both the times after enquiring about service charge they removed it. Table service was not at all acceptable. Once again loved the food. _---------+. New Review++++(((( Finally they stopped adding service charge. Great food. We came here for dinner and were sat at a dirty table directly below a leak in the roof. When we told the waitress that the roof was leaking, and she let us know that she was aware of the leak so I can’t understand why we were sat directly below the leak when we had booked a table in advance. In addition, there was lipstick on the water glasses and some sort of food splatter all over the window and partition wall which flies were feasting on. The cocktails were fine but both glasses were cracked and the cleanliness of the restaurant was just appalling compared to the first time we visited.

From start to finish the service, food and venue were excellent for my husband's 50th birthday celebration. Everyone had a great time and also enjoyed the karaoke. Thank you so much to Danny for your help and all of the staff for helping. Please also thank the chefs- the food was excellent and we'll definitely return.

First time at this restaurant i went with friend on sat 5 aug afternoon from the moment we entered it was fantastic beautiful clean and friendly helpful staff, the food was delicious fresh ingredients and bursting with flavours, I'll definitely be back and highly recommended , would give 6 +stars if I could thank you Ginza Kitchen

Went here for lunch date on a Saturday afternoon. The food was delicious and the service was great. A lovely touch when, after we were asked what we were up to the rest of the day and we mentioned it was our wedding anniversary, some of the drinks were taken off the bill. It was our first time there and after such a lovely first experience, we will definitely be back.

@ginza_kitchen is a cozy and beautiful Japanese restaurant. The portion sizes are generous with reasonable price. The Char Siu in ramen was incredibly good. Soft & well seasoned. Their prawn gyoza was nice but I would prefer the filling with more prawn instead of mixing too much pork. Karaage and yakitori were ok. Overall, everything was good☺️ It’s a relaxing place to dine in especially under the Sakura tree. Beautiful decor can defo increase my appetite. Do you have the same feeling?

Food ok service good when asked to explain what was in a dish as I am vegetarian was told noodles and vegetables but the dish came with a runny fried egg. Which if I had known I would not of selected the dish.. servers need a little bit more trained but everyone was more than nice and professional.

Food was cold, over cooked and wildly over priced. Wouldn't order again. Definitely don't recommend.

Turned up for lunch with a friend and got seated immediately without needing a booking. Staff were friendly and helpful about picking what to get or try. Food came quickly and was great.

Accommodated our table of 9 so well - food came so quickly, despite how much we ordered. Food was immaculate, flavour’s & presentation were on point. Being past 9pm of my first night in Belfast, I was doubtful I was going to find a good place with vegan options, close by, and open. This was a happy discovery. Delicious food with the vegan options I needed, great g&t, and very kind staff. Great way to begin by visit!

Just a delightful dinner! The cutest restaurant with lovely decor and ambience as well as friendly, attentive service. The mixed tempura was angelically crisp and tasty and I'll be thinking about the ebi tempura masago for a long time. The side of fried noodles wasn't very special and it was too much food for me. I'll be back: the cocktails look amazing.

This place is IT! The pork ramen and drink I had were SOOO good! The chef and bartender make an awesome duo! And the staff are super nice, I had a great conversation with one of them. If I return to Belfast, I’ll absolutely make sure to come here again!

The food was delicious as usual, and the staff were very friendly however it was disappointing to be told on arrival that we needed to vacate our table in 1 hour 15 minutes. This meant that a long overdue dinner with friends was quite rushed. On a previous occasion, my dinner booking was cancelled without explanation and I was unable to get through by phone to discuss why this happened. The food is great but unlikely to return for some time.

I had dinner with my girlfriend to celebrate moving into a new place. We had dinner in ginza kitchen in the past and were very happy about the food. However this time the menu was slightly changed, and the with it unfortunately the staff. We’ve been serve by a young waitress who didn’t know basically anything about the menu, she couldn’t describe dishes with no description on the menu, she couldn’t tell us what was gluten free or dairy free, so we kindly asked her to go ask the chef. She came back with no answers for us, a part from telling us we could have the veggie dishes multiple times, so we kept calm and said multiple times we aren’t vegetarian and we’d like to try fish dishes knowing if we would be allergic or not… So she asked the chef again and again very uncertain and imprecise answers. So we politely asked another waitress if she could help us, and she rudely said to ask the manager because she’d know best about the menu… guess who the manager was? Our first waitress who had very little knowledge about the menu! I don’t want to blame the staff, clearly understaffed and with little experience, they all looked below 20 years old, I blame the owner who allows this chaos to happen. Shame because the food is actually pretty good. I’ve never been served so poorly and at the same time arrogantly in my life, like the fault was ours to have allergies and ask questions, embarrassing! And as a result my girlfriend is now sick from gluten intake.

Went for the first time yesterday and were greeted by very friendly helpful staff. I had the chicken curry sabo which unfortunately did not have fresh chicken. The chicken was dried out and not particularly pleasant, however everything else we ordered was very good especially the tempura prawns. By literally trying to save a few pennies on a slice of chicken it was quite off putting. I do understand the hospitality sector needs to save the pennies in this current climate but keeping the food fresh will move your establishment up the ranks along with your prices, which by the way the food was very well priced. Overall it’s a good place. Late afternoon or dinner I’m sure would be all fresh. We just happened to be one of the first couples in after they opened so imho got last nights chicken We will call back for sure but next time hope this minor issue will be long forgotten.

This place was a very much welcome pleasant surprice.Nice quaint interior.l asked them to change a mocktail that l liked into a cocktail and it tasted amazing,5 stars for their mixologist .We had kung prawn sushi and chicken gyoza as starters.Mains my partner had teppan chicken terikayi and l had the beef and they were both amazing.Service was great,the staff were friendly.We didnt wait too long for the food which was nice as it was made to order.Averall the best place l have dined at so far and that tropical cocktail was to die for.Well deserved 5 stars.

We came earlier than was our booking what was no problem and staff was very friendly. Japas came so quick what was nice, but afterwards we were waiting long time for sushi platter. That was bit disappointing although food was delicious every bite of it. Once we finished our dish nobody care enough to come and clear table or offer desserts. So after while we just decided to leave.

Had a gin cocktails, tempura starters, omelet rice, ramen and dessert to finish off. Overall food well cooked, friendly service. Would recommend.

Fantastic little restaurant with great service but the star of the show is the food. We loved the nigiri, rainbow roll and gyoza, but everything else was great too! Confused about the comments on price as we thought it was pretty cheap. Have already booked to go back and looking forward to it!

Menu options was one of a kind! Ramen was top notch with a rich soup base🥵 The only place in belfast that does famous Omurice😮 cocktails were also 10/10! Definitely will be back soon! Thanks to Chloe and her team❤️

Absolutely beautiful food, helpful and friendly staff. Ramen broth is full-bodied and flavourful, noodles are chewy and light, sushi is fresh and delicious. It can occasionally be a bit humid (especially after some sake) but otherwise a wonderful place to get some food.

Nice food and dressed well if minuscule for the price……I mean, how much is rice by the hundred weight ? Expensive wine list…. So overpriced I could buy a Three week all inclusive holiday in Timbuktu for less….lol Scrutinise your bill before paying. Pity the guy waiting on us never informed us oldies who tipped ‘in person’ there already was a 10% service charge added to the bill. He did well twice ! What is 6.7 or 15 or 27 Menu is written in this form and I thought it was the order number….quite difficult to comprehend. No…..It’s the price in minuscule numbers like the servings. Take a magnifying glass to read the small print. Was served hot though which is a bonus ! Will I be back…… definitely when I win the lottery.

Warm relaxed and cosy restaurant. Staff were excellent and friendly. Amazing food presented really well. My kids are fussy eaters yet they describe it as a Spellbinding experience. Highly recommend

We've had two superb visits to Ginza in recent weeks. The food is first-rate, the staff very friendly and the decor is gorgeous. Highly recommended if looking for a nice spot for dinner in Belfast!

Recently discovered Ginza and was very impressed. Can highly recommend it. The food was amazing and the staff was really friendly and attentive. The sushi was fresh and just wish i could have eaten more. The teriyaki salmon is a must! We'll be visiting this place again, and often!

Ginza lost my online order, so had to re-order on site at pick up - after paying with Apple Pay. Not a great service - don’t offer online ordering if your system is broken!

I ordered a Takeaway from this restaurant on 30 July 2022. Upon arrival to collect the food, the staff member at the front desk asked me for my 'Collection Code'. So I gave him the 8 digit code that I had received from Ginza with...

One of the best ramens in Belfast

Amazing food, very friendly and fast staff. The decoration was also beautiful, we sit in a huge table downstairs and the atmosphere was sensacional, beautiful decorated.

Really loved dining here. Very friendly staff and lovely interiors, forgot I was in Belfast. The menu had a lot of standard Japanese offerings. We ordered starters firstly which turned out to be a good idea as they were so big so we only needed to order one main. The tempura was particularly good, definitely order if you dine here. Excellent value for money too.

Absolutely AMAZING!!! Despite my lack in experience to eat with chopsticks, one of the staff there was happy to help me in my struggles! Food portions were plentyful and delicious for their value with the staff also being so friendly! 100% would recommend!

I loved my visit to Ginza Kitchen. I was nervous about what I would be able to eat but our waitress was also Gluten Free and put me right at ease. I could have all the sushi! The sushi was so fresh and delicious, I could have eaten more plates than I did. Just means I have to come back and try more!
