I can remember some really good lunches at Cameron's but not today! Beef stew and potatoes more like school corned beef for £5.60... mistakenly added 3 scoops of mashed potatoes (not finished) and tired, shredded cabbage/peppers for an extra £3.90... won't be back in a hurry!

3 scones, 2 coffees, 1 pot tea cost £15.75. Asked for extra butter and was charged 60p for two squares. Coffee came in cups even though mugs were paid for. Coffee was then poured into mugs and topped up with froth. Not good value for money.

Great food and lovely staff who always remember you. I have frequented this place sine the 1980s and I can't understand how it can get bad reviews. Cameron's , like McKillens and others in an intergral part of the fabric of Ballymena, helping to set it apart from the other generic towns of the UK, of which Belfast is rapidly becoming one.

We just popped in to have a cup of tea and something to eat after our shopping. Camerons must be the only place that charge for the pot of hot water with your pot of tea!! So tight!! Also, the tap water must run over something that is hot because the water comes out warm. The girl i asked to get us a glass of cold water was so rude telling me i should just use what is available. The lady at the till went off to heat up apple pie for someone else and just left us standing there, she didn't come back for ages by which time the tea was stewed. Also, two cups of tea and two slices of apple pie cost £18. That's very expensive.

Called here today for lunch because thought it was good. Sadly disappointed. I chose a sausage roll and asked for salad with it. I was told that each choice of salad was £1.35. I got 3 slices of tomato and 5 pieces of sliced onion for £1.35. You could also have a spoonful of beetroot for £1.35. The sausage roll was very basic sausage meat but I was hungry so I ate it. Also had a pot of tea, which couldn't have been smaller! I did mention the small portions of salad to the lady serving but she really didn't care and just handed me the plate. I always visit somewhere twice before giving a review, so after a second visit to Camerons in 6 months, here we go. Positives: clean, bright, lots of staff, good selection of meals and snacks.Negatives: quality of food, which is after all, the main reason for actually visiting the cafe. Plus it isn't cheap. We've had a breakfast-brunch here recently and also a lunch a couple of months ago. Both times the quality of the food was very poor. My cooked breakfast was tasteless, apart from the bacon which was good. I didn't have sausages - they looked cheap and nasty. I had mushrooms - rubbery, potato bread the same. I had spied some rather dodgy-looking potato bread at the counter and asked if I could have some cooked fresh. I was advised by the server that she had literally just put it out (that should have been the warning sign, but I didn't take it). The tomato wasn't ripe or cooked enough, so had little flavour. My wife had a tuna sandwich which was fine. My daughter's ham sandwich went uneaten after one bite - the ham was a very strange colour, not good quality.Previously we had gone for lunch. Decent portions but again taste-wise there was a lot missing, and as a result a lot was left on the plate. I had a fish pie, but this was a poor imitation of a fish pie. It was dried up and had no flavour at all. My wife and son both had cooked meals and there weren't many compliments flying around the table afterwards. A waste of money - for the four of us that time the price was over £30 with tea and drinks. Not good enough - better to buy sandwiches from M&S.Service was OK - plenty of staff around, busy. My breakfast was brought to the table and I was advised the plate was very hot (which it was). So thanks for the memories Camerons but we won't be back.

No matter what quality the food is nor even taking in to account the excellent view, any cafe that charges you extra 45p if you want butter and jam with your scone will not be getting my custom again. The prices are above average for average food and maybe the management should realise that penny pinching will deter customers and not attract them. Almost forgot, do want some hot water? That will be 30p extra - come on what way is this to run a business.

However, thought we would give her another chance!!! Unfortunately - no change!!! She has been there for quite a while but I feel she takes away from the Camerons Experience. We find staff very friendly and willing to meet customer needs, sandwiches are freshly made to order and there's a wide selection of cake and pastries to choose from, my only gripe is I wish they kept them under cover rather than allowing people to help themselves. The place is always busy and there's a good turnover on food, they have a large clientele of regulars so it can't be that bad otherwise no one would come back. Scones are not for the faint hearted and pretty much everything is baked in their own kitchen.

Such a well known store. The best thing about the restaurant is the view from the 4th floor. The staff were so unpleasant and just acted and seemed unhappy. I would imagine that comes from a poor managment style from who ever was in charge. The cooks were using the wrong colored board to prepare raw cooked food in front of the public. The dishes on display were obvious remakes of yesterdaysl left overs. The baked goods were ok. We finished with short bread and pastries. Camerons is a department store in the bustling centre of the busy town of Ballymena in Co Antrim. The store is well worth a visit particularly for the well-stocked book section and the excellent 'old fashioned' toy department, which is a real delight for children and adults. The restaurant and cafe is comfortable, spacious, light and very clean. There is a wide choice of main dishes, snacks, cakes and scones - all at reasonable prices - as is is a wel-known fact that Ballymena folk have a keen sense of the value of money. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Camerons, especially for families.

Decided to have lunch here as we were out shopping. Wasn't sure where to go but as we had eaten here many times some years ago we decided to see if it was still the same. I wish we had read the reviews on Tripadvisor first. We ordered chicken pie with chips and vegetables and a pot of tea for two. It came to over £17.00, expensive but it looked nice so we went ahead. Unfortunately the pie was lukewarm and tastless as were the chips which were obviously frozen and the veg was non descript. The lady at the tea counter filled the pot right to the very top lip of the teapot with hot water which was impossible to pour without spilling all over the saucer and table. The staff were not at all friendly, not even a smile. We used to eat in Camerons cafe any time we were in Ballymena a few years ago when the staff were more mature and naturally friendly and the food was delicious tasty and hot. One of our party had a small salad, at £5.15 for six items and no choice of meats offered. The second member of our party chose the pasta dish, at £4.95, not a huge meal and with absolutely no extras, just the pasta, sauce and a little bacon. I had a plain white bread egg and onion sandwich, £3.90, and again no garnish at all, and the bread going a bit hard at the crusts. Having paid £6.30 for stew and two slices of wheaton bread I was shocked to be hit for another 22p for a second butter portion.Although the apple tart and pasteries looked very nice we took our coffee and dessert business elsewhere and I reckon this will be the last time we will eat in Camerons.

I was in with my parents and we each had a sandwich and it was £16 for 3 plain sandwiches and a pot of tea!! Although the place is nice and has a good view, prices of food doesnt not justify the quality of it. Nice to shop and browse but not to buy food!! Plenty of other recently priced eateries nearby.

Food was ok but very expensive for what we received, atmosphere a bit drab and staff need some TGI Fridays training and be more cheerful, some of them seem like they really want to be somewhere else. Many other places in Ballymena offer much better value for money food, and staff who seem to care about the customers needs and look like they aren't having a bad day.

I have visited Cameron's a couple of time timers now with friends and family and I am yet to be impressed. Considering the value of the food, it fails to meet expectations and there are numerous other establishments in the locale which provide a comparable offering at a more competitive price, sometimes with a wider choice. I'll think twice before returning and will most likely choose an alternative in these austere times.

This is a beautiful laid out shop with many areas of shopping. They have a beautiful Restaurant upstairs, but extremely pricey!! They charged us 50p for Hot water and 15p for sauces. I couldn't believe it! Putting that aside they have good variety and lots of homebaked bread and pastries.Other things to see are various clothes outlets, Stationery, Gift items, Toys, Nursery etc.

Costa Coffee in Ballymena provides a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing break. The staff are friendly and the coffee is consistent, with a good selection of beverages and snacks/ sweet treats to choose from. The seating is comfortable, though the café can get busy during peak hours, making it difficult to find a spot. Overall, it's a great place if you’re looking for a cosy place to unwind or catch up with friends that isn’t in the heart of Ballymena or while you wait to go see a movie at the IMC

Disappointed with cooked breakfast. Bread was slightly toasted and not fried. Quite a bland breakfast compared to other places.

Haven't been for a while BUT place has changed - not for the good - no more sausage toasties etc - selection down prices up - Baked Potato - small potato served tepid with ice cold cheese + ' Slaw ' full of pomegranate seeds to break the teeth - limp salad veg - not appetising and nearly not edible . and def not worth £6.00 - not worth at any £ if you can't eat it. Get your act together and serve appetising/edible food - get back to basics .!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
