Went for a few drinks after a walk on the canal, and absolutely fell in love with the old Victorian decor and home brewed beer. The staff were also tentative and genuinely interested in the pub they represented. Do yourself a favour and get down there for a local brewed beer.

If you find yourself in the wilds of West Yorkshire, make a date to visit this lovely (off the beaten track) pub in Horbury. Friday night is pie night and there is a fabulous variety to choose from. I had the gluten free steak and onion with mash and peas which was melt in the mouth delicious. Coupled with some amazing home brewed cask ales, it made for a very enjoyable early supper. Lovely atmosphere with a blazing log fire and great friendly service. We will definitely return. Thank you so much.

Old school pub with great ales. Locally brewed, some Inhouse, which were brilliant. Fantastic beer garden. The building itself has a great traditional feel, very old school which is a plus point. One thing let's this place down, It's Staff, partners in the business I presume. Could do with some training in hospitality, learn how to at least falsify a smile and some endearing conversation. If you don't want to be there, then hire staff at additional cost that have some charm. Unfortunately this is a trend that comes with the real ale revival at many new upcoming potentially great establishments. As you will see from previous reviews featuring pictures of the bar staff (recent ones) little facial expression is given, a dull inhuman stare greets you. Make this place great and hire some passionate staff please. Dull, expressionless faces of money men is not what's needed in the modern world. We need some spunk and passion. Crying shame from what would otherwise be a regular haunt of mine.

This is a popular end of ride meeting place on a Sunday for the Calder Clarion Cyclists as well as people checking out the live entertainment on the garden stage. I have seen a several individual performers and a full brass band in the last few weeks. Beer is spot on. Particularly the porter and milk stout. They have a low alcohol egenbrew or something like that for the drivers and cyclists who still have a way to go home . You can even purchase an ice-cream if they are not too busy at the bar. Or they will bring it to you when they have a minute. Truly a family pub for the discerning client. 👍 I have not eaten here so can not yet comment on the food.

Always a fantastic, friendly atmosphere with fantastic brews made by themselves and guest ales from local breweries. Dog friendly, has a variety of different live bands playing, good food from local food vendors and a quite frankly outrageously good monthly pub quiz done by a local couple. This is a prime example of what a good local community pub can be. Highly recommended.

A little gem tucked away in deepest Horbury. I visited at the recommendation of a friend to see live entertainment on a Sunday afternoon. They only sell their own micro brewery beers, plus one guest beer and a superb Northern Cider. Well worth a visit but check the opening times as they don't open weekdays until 5pm. Lovely, relaxing atmosphere. No food as far as I'm aware but check their website.

Book ahead is best, but not essential for a drop in drink, the facilities currently restricted to the beer garden, quite a few tables with parasols(not umbrellas 🤣). Location just at the bottom of Horbury junction,or through the Scarry tunnel from the canal side. Enjoy, best wishes from Paul.
