The worst spa day I have ever had in my life we had a ploughmans lunch and the roll was stale and we had to eat it in the salon.me and my friend had a massage and facial that was ok.then we had a manicure and pedicure the ladies were lovely and friendly but I had gel tips on and she had no clue on what to do and I asked her if she could just take the colour off and she said yes she put acetone on which melted my nails and filed them down with the other lady helping her.she didn't know what to really do she filed them down so much that she put a hole in my nail and made my cuticle bleed.she then took my gel nail off my feet and put my feet in cold water and didn't file them.my friend had the full treatment including massage and various creams. all I got was painted toes, terrible nails and very sore nails

I attended Redwings Animal sanctuary yesterday with my family. it was a lovely day and later in the afternoon we went for a drink at Caldicott Hall. When I went in there seemed to be plenty of staff about. I waited at the bar but no one served me. Eventually I was noticed and served. Unfortunately two of the draft beers were off. One due to a cooler breaking down. I was here a few weeks ago and oddly they were out of some draft beers then! I understand that this place is under new ownership and have seen the wedding reviews, but as a place to drop in and have a drink and snack? no, my last two experiences have proved that there are better venues in the area. We ended up at The Decoy down the road. Plenty of beer on and inexpensive good food.

Copy of an e mail i juat sent them Sir /madam I understand my nephew Jamie Wicks and his wife Ellen have yet to receive a refund for the mess that you created on the night of their wedding earlier this year. I was part of that event and even went with Jamie to Caldicott Hall Hotel to pick up their stuff after no one was there to check them in. Both he and his wife were an absolute emotional mess as a result of your poor management of the hotel that evening. Hardly the mood in that you wish to go into your first night of your honeymoon. I'm am appalled to discover that months later you have still not issued a refund. I believe that an alternative night at another location was also offered. Clearly this has not been forthcoming. I hope that upon receipt of this email you will immediately do the right thing and provide an immediate full refund as was promised the day after their wedding. My friends and I arrived at Caldecott Hall last Wednesday the 10th of June , when we got there the car park was fairly empty but didn't think anything of it .. We walked in and were met at the door by a man , who later became known as Michael , I asked for a table for 4 and the man said they were not open until the following Monday , however he said we could go in and he would make us a meal or sandwiches what ever we wanted . We asked if we should leave and come back another time but he said no and thus made us very welcome. It transpired that this man had now actually brought the place and was now the new proprietor ... I have to say he was very polite and the young waitress was lovely as well ... Considering it wasn't open we were made to feel very welcome . I couldn't give an overall review as we were the only people in there and I for one wish Michael and his new team Good Luck for the future

Being under new ownership, the Hotel was not due to open until 20th May 2013. We popped in on the morning of the 16th May looking for somewhere to eat that evening to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were absolutely delighted when the owner, over a very nice cup of coffee, said if we tell him what we would like to eat, he would cook our anniversary dinner for us - even though he was not due to open for 4 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had the most delicious 3-course meal, including scallops, rib eye steak and perfectly cooked tarragon chicken with an excellent selection of fresh vegetables. The staff had even bought us a card and decorated the table. We will most certainly return and recommend all our friends and family to this excellent hotel.

I have never been so discussed in all the years of staying in hotels around the world, I have never had a receptionists contact me about a booking that I have made to say the hotel had new management and that they would not be honoring previous bookings and I should contact the company I booked with to claim my money back, on checking with the receptionist I could book a room with them at an increased cost for the dates I wanted, well although I have stayed here before over the years i will never do do so again, I feel sorry for the lady who had to telephone the clients and tell them this, you think the new management would at least have the backbone to do it, I will none the less recommend to all my friends and clients not to stay here again in the future and although you can decide for yourself I would recommend that anyone who reads this gives this hotel a miss, there are lots of good hotels in the area. Best wishes to all who read this

well this was meant to be a lovely family mothers day meal of my husband and i and our two girls along with other family members a total of 13, but it was awful. we waited 1 hr 10 for our starters then another half hr for our main ( so those that didnt have a starter waited 1hr 40 for their main) completely unexceptable, we were shut away in a cold room with a heater on which they switched off after half hour, my 81 yr old father was soooo cold, we had plates for rolls/bread but were offered none, there was nothing on the tables to show is was a special occasion ie mothers day, just the norm white table cloth. they took a drinks order when we first got there but nothing after that, the wrong food was brought out for two of the main meals, the food was cold and plates cold too, salt and pepper on table but not offered anything else ie mustard, no apple juice for my daughter, we didnt even stay for dessert and we didnt think we should be paying full price so my husband spoke to the mangeress and we paid less than half she kept saying they had two waiters call in sick and were rushed of their feet and something about she wasnt happy with the kitchen. Other people werent happy either and were complaining. Some places on mothers day were offering the meal for mothers free or a small gift for mums oh no not here not even a free drink.......the mangeress was rude when i moved the heater for my father who was very cold, i would not recommend this restaurant at all we left there went to potters spa resort in hopton where staff are lovely and friendly and had an afternoon tea and scones should have gone there for lunch too, we will know next time this day was completley spoilt thanks coldecott hall

just been here for a mothers day meal with the whole family and we were disgusted at the service, met by a dodgery old lady who didnt have a clue! we were the only people there...now i realise why! it took half an hour for anyone to visit us to ask what drinks we wanted, they then came back with the drinks and stated they had no apple juice for the little kids...they visited us another 30 minutes later to ask what starters, also switching off the tiny little fan heater saying we would get too hot, it was bloody freezing so despite her turning it off, i turned it back on! we had bread roll plates and were offered no rolls, wine glasses and offered no wine! a set menu which was dull and they dont cater for vegetarians as my sister found out! nothing mothers day related! she came back with the starters and proceeded to have a go at us about the heater! she was very rude...and is apparently the mangeress! yeah right! another half hour passed and she took our orders and half an hour or more she bought the food out (after having to go upto the kitchen and ask where it was) which to add was repulsive and on tiny kiddies plates! i for one will never eat there again or recommend it! she made an excuse up about staff members being missing, but after seeing other peoples trip advisor reviews quite frankly i think it was an excuse!never recieved sich poor service, we did complain and did not pay.full price, also we didnt wait for the afters as didnt fancy sitting around for another hour just for a bowl of icecream to arrive!!! if i could give the service to the rude old lady a minus one i would! ...rant over!

We visited one lunchtime in November using a Groupon voucher deal. Having booked by telephone the previous day for lunch at 1pm, we arrived to find a service door in the entrance hall wide open showing an unsightly display of cleaning materials and rubbish, and then on entering the lounge-bar we discovered a cleaning lady vacuuming furiously (to little effect - the floor was still littered with crumbs after she'd finished), and we had to shout over the noise to make our presence known. Hardly off to a great start. We wandered along to the bar area and eventually a lady dressed like my granny arrived to attend to us. We were the only guests. There was a poor choice from the limited two-course menu, and the supplement charged if you opted for steak was in my view excessive. The meal was average - mediocre paté and tasteless soup to start, followed by my steak (which was good and cooked to my liking) and pork for my partner, but his sautéed potatoes were swimming in grease. The tablecloth was covered in crumbs from the previous night's diners, and the whole place was freezing cold. A visit to the Ladies reminded me of Captain Oats....... This is such a shame. Caldecott Hall used to be really good - we celebrated a milestone birthday there 18 months ago with the whole family, and the meal and the serivce was great. The dining room seems to be shut now, with food being servied at one end of the bar instead. This is a stunning country house hotel with endless possibilities, but I fear the change of management will be the death knell for Caldecott Hall. The tatty carpets, scuffed decor, gloomy lighting, oh and the TV chattering aimlessly over our heads (until we asked for it to be turned off) - dear oh dear oh dear. We shall not be back.

Having visited the restaurant several times before we believed we knew what we were getting - but oh dear..!Seems the restaurant has changed hands and what a disappointment. The restaurant was dingy because most of the light bulbs had blown and not replaced. We commented on how cold the other restaurant areas were and apparently they had run out of heating oil and the owner refused to buy anymore and the one electric fire we discovered was brought in from home by the waitress..!We asked about music only to be told that there was no music licence - with Christmas coming there will be no Slade..! I hope nobody is booking a wedding..!Hooray for the waitress who tried to make our visit pleasent and the the chef for the acceptable food.We will certainly not be returning, nor recommending it.

Fantastic setting and grand looking house so thought wow we have fallen lucky here. We booked the restaurant via groupon. On booking I said we could be flexible and offered any time from 7 - 7.30 pm and agreed on 7.30. On arrival, which coincided with a group of 4, the only visable member of staff told us we were booked for 7.00 and the group of 4 for 7.15 (they were booked for 7.45) so we must all be late. Although they arrived first she insisted on serving us in the order of the booking list. She commented that she had been very clear with whoever takes bookings in respect of groupon that they must make them 15 minutes apart in order for her to cope. I have to say this was not a stroppy person just someone stating facts but in a rather school teacher way that left me feeling like a naughty child. Everyone in the bar exchanged looks and funny little smiles. The menu was short and more pub grub than restaurant standard. We decided to go for a main & dessert rather than starter which was handy as a couple who had ordered the prawns were told there were none left (at 7.30 pm) and had to chose something else. We were shown to the restaurant which clearly had recently been updated. The surroundings are very tasteful but as with reviewer "dylnn", it needs something. It feels quite cold and really lacks atmosphere; there was music in the background but everyone could hear each others conversation. Starter arrrived - not ours we said - question well whose is it then? All diners fell about laughing. Main arrived. I ordered "chicken breast wrapped in bacon, with gravy". I got a naked chicken quarter with a sausage and after asking, gravy. This was the same as a guest on the next table who didn't eat anything which came on the bone. Food was very nice - just funny. I dared not ask for an explaination as to where the bacon had gone as the waitress was clearly under pressure. We all tried to work out how to wrap the sausage round the chicken so at least we were making new friends. There were 9 in the restaurant and four in the bar plus two now unoccupied tables that had not been cleared. Dessert, ordered French chocolate cake with a raspberry coulis. Waitress returned: Sorry no raspberry ripple ice cream, I wanted to say but you do have the coulis? Diners laugh. No offer of anything else so asked for vanilla which they did have. The waitress was lovely if not perhaps a little too familiar; I think if I expanded on this it would cause problems. Service as you can imagine was a little slow and they really need to have 2 staff minimum to cope. The people on the next table helped clear some plates and we all had a good laugh. So it was a fun evening thanks to all the little comments and insights from the waitress, a variety of things that were not quiet right and slow service. We were charged the 25p extra for the main and £1.00 each for the desserts as they were over the Groupon limit which given the service amongst other things seemed a little rich. We had left a tip but then when this happened regretted it! Probably wouldn't return. Food was average, no atmosphere but luckily I only paid £8.00 so not the end of my world. I understood the offer was to try to bring more people to the restaurant if they have a similar experience it won't work.

Considering chef was only into his first week, and he was also catering for a wedding the food was excellent, however for a sat night it was very empty in the actual restaurant and we felt it was lacking a little something, maybe flowers or candles on tables for a bit of colour and atmosphere would help, and we must say what a wonderful host Sue was, she was very accommodating, helpful and she was an absolute gem, infact we will definitly go back just for her wonderful hospitality, but on the neg side I would say toilets also need updating, but all in all would def recommend if not just for meeting Sue . we had a table booked for 1pm for 24 people. The hotel only had 2 staff to serve behind the bar and to serve our food as you would expect they struggled to cope and food was cold and no roast potatoes were cooked for the 10 roast dinners ordered they persumed everyone would be happy with chips. Terrible service as the meals were preordered. Staff were stressed and RUDE. We definetly will not be returning.

On our first night in Great Yarmouth we wondered into the "Marine" looking for some food. The Pub was quiet, and all the Staff were genuinely friendly. My Wife has Gallstones and is waiting an Operation so has to be so careful what she eats, the Staff were able to adapt a Prawn Salad for her, which we appreciated. I'm a huge Pie guy, and I chose the Homemade Steak and Ale Pie, which was a bit special, and I can't say I've eaten many, if any better. It's truly delicious. Thanks to everyone there for a lovely meal. Definitely drop in and try the Homemade Steak and Ale Pie.

It’s always wonderful to visit Fritton Lake, laid back luxury with such beautiful grounds, great food and lovely atmosphere. Every member of staff is so friendly and helpful, the Club House beautifully decorated. It’s a rare treat to find somewhere as lovely as this, and it’s dog friendly!

Very disappointed! There were 4 of us and the food was not nice. Sausage and mash….mash had lumps and the sausages looked undercooked as were white! Steak & Ale pie….burnt and the inside was dried out like it had been reheated more than once. Beef roast dinner was the worst we had ever had, roast potatoes were burnt! Will never go back there as the customer service was non existent! Not once did someone come to the table to ask if everything was as ok.
