The cafe staff happily accommodated our family group of 8 adults for a lunch. They kindly reserved a table for us so that we were guaranteed a space after our morning walk. The menu included all day breakfast which several of us ordered. The food was delicious and beautifully prepared, hot and fresh. There was a specials board and those meals were very good too. The cafe environment was clean, comfortable and airy. The cafe was attached to and part of the village community centre. We felt we were made very welcome and were happy to know that we were supporting the community centre. All in all a lovely experience.

This place is under new ownership as a traditional British cafe again, so the listing here as an Indian place is no longer accurate. The new owner is an Englishman who made some odd pro-English, anti-Welsh comments. As we were English customers, perhaps he thought it was ok, but it didn’t set a good tone. He left the tea bags in our mugs of tea, which is absolutely fine, but when we asked for a teaspoon to remove them he literally PICKED THE TEABAGS OUT WITH HIS FINGERS. On the upside, the cake was great.

We attended after a local walk for lunch. We enjoyed toasted sandwiches and diet coke. The hosts were very welcoming and service was good as was the food. Reasonably busy for a lunchtime with others enjoying the sun outside or sitting in side. The restaurant does themed evenings on some Sundays which have been sell outs.

I stopped off in this cafe while hiking and was made to feel very welcome. The family running the place were most friendly, and there was a very pleasant atmosphere, with the occasional conjuring trick being performed for us customers! I ordered fish and chips, which tasted nice (although it might be better to order one of their South Asian specialties). There were also cups of tea and cakes available (A regular customer was given a birthday celebration while I was there, so I got a free piece of cake!) The cafe's location in the Village Hall provides good facilities.

This cafe is under new management. The new owners are very charming family and very welcoming. The menu is part cafe snacks, coffees and cakes and part Indian cuisine. The same family own the renowned Indiana Cuisine restaurant in Fairbourne so we had to sample the samosas and spring rolls. All were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. You may think you recognise the owner Raj and if you get chatting to him you will find out why, I won’t spoil the surprise 😁

We just popped in for a cup of tea after finishing a walk. Although it was near to closing time we were made to feel very welcome. When we said we would like to sit outside cushions were fetched to make us comfortable. The chocolate brownie was delicious and we took some home too. A family concern of 3 generations all so friendly which made the visit memorable. Last day of our holiday or we would have returned to try their lunch menu too The chocolate brownie was delicious.

We are so sorry to hear that Hilary and Tommy have retired from the business after many years of looking after us, both in the cafe and at Tynycornel Hotel before that. Having enjoyed many lovely meals at Caffi’r Ceunant, Tommy and Hillary we’re our first thought when looking for caterers for a birthday party. They arrived at our rental house and served up a delicious 3 course buffet meal for 16 of us. Every dish was wonderful - I know because I tried a little bit of everything! Providing gluten-free options wasn’t an issue and there was plenty of food - enough for us to polish off the leftovers for lunch. Kitchen was left clean and tidy. Great service and thoroughly recommended.

After losing the path on top of Cader Idris during a snow blizzard I ended up along way, away from my car. Freezing cold and soaked right through I ended in Abergynolwyn. I took shelter in this lovely cafe and had myself a cup of tea and a lovely cake. The Sunday lunch that was being served looked amazing. The lovley owner, was so kind to drive me 5 miles back to my car if not for her it was either a 3 hour wait for a taxi or to walk back in freezing tempretures in the dark. For this I'm truly grateful. I Will definitely be returning.

This small, community based cafe provides the tastiest, freshest, most interesting menu of anywhere we have eaten! It has become a regular haunt since we discovered it late last year. We have never been disappointed, be it a bowl of fresh homemade soup or a full blown Sunday lunch. Everything is made from scratch and is full of good quality, wholesome ingredients. Our friend had the locally caught trout last year and exclaimed it was the best he had ever eaten. Today we had roasted sweet peppers, delicious!!!!! They cater for all dietary needs and it is always best to book to ensure a table as it is so busy. Make sure you try the desserts too-all made in the kitchen and utterly delectable!Note: you will need cash as they don't take cards and be there before 2pm to ensure you can choose from the specials board which changes every day.

We have been here many times when we have friends staying with us as this is the best Sunday Lunch in the area. On this occasion I had the vine tomato salad followed by the slow roasted leg of lamb there was a good selection of vegetables with the main course and the pineapple sponge for dessert. Every course was well presented and tasted great. You can sometimes see Tommy in the kitchen slicing the meat of the day from the main joint. We took a bottle of wine with us as they don't have a licence but they do provide wine glasses and do not charge corkage.

I visited with my partner for lunch today after a walk up to Dolgoch falls. We got an incredibly warm welcome from Hilary and Tommy! My other half said the minted lamb hotpot was the finest meal he had ever had (not an accolade he would throw around lightly, believe me) and my chicken was incredible - spinach and spring onion stuffing is definitely a winner! We each had a cake as dessert as well - great frangipane but I think my other half was still pining for more lamb, he looked very jealous as we left and the table next to us started tucking in!!Wonderful place and we will certainly be back (unfortunately we live in Liverpool, otherwise I would be back tomorrow to try the fish pie and bread and butter pudding). We've been eating food prepared by Tommy and Hilary for 20 years now and we've never been disappointed. They use seasonal and local produce - some so seasonal and local that it was caught by Tommy the previous day in a local lake! There's also a varied menu, a blend of traditional and modern to suit all generations and tastes - and the food is expertly cooked.Today we visited for Sunday lunch, I had Thai Seafood broth, accompanied with naan bread, plenty of mussels, prawn and fish and a hint of Asian spices, yum. Then I went traditional with roast loin and belly of pork and all the trimmings, homemade stuffing and apple sauce (nothing out of a packet or jar!) and just a little crackling. Followed by a blast from the past - chocolate sponge with Belgium chocolate sauce and old school style chocolate custard - yum again. All this for just over £20 - is great value and if you didn't want all 3 courses you can just have 1 or 2.We recommend it wholeheartedly and look forward to a warm welcome when we visit again later in the year!

We have friends who we take to Caffi Ceunant because it is so accommodating, one is a coeliac, another a vegetarian and another a pescatarian - all are catered for. When I make the booking I let Hilary know and she makes sure there are a few options for our guests. Unfortunately for you, I did not manage to get a picture of this eye catching, mouthwatering creation before it was attacked! The picture shows some leftover (yes, being enjoyed whilst writing this review!!!) and it sits proudly on a dinner plate to give you an idea of the size! Yes, it was huge! Yum! Having contacted Hilary to request one for our son's christening, the pudding queen recommended Summer Fruits as a topping. A combination of strawberries, blueberries, redcurrant and freshly picked raspberries from her garden all mixed in a beautiful sauce topped a layer of freshly whipped cream. The diet was a distant memory for that day, but I can happily say I had a good portion of my 5 a day and it was also surprisingly very light leaving us feeling pleasantly full rather than stuffed! If the empty plates weren't enough of a confirmation that this pudding was a sweet success I don't know what is!Diolch yn fawr Hilary Rowlands for your hard work. It was deliciously appreciated. We booked in here after another local establishment let us down at the last minute catering for a party of 18. I'm so glad we made the change, the food was delicious and the choice was good. They catered for allergies and looked after us brilliantly. We were all really impressed with the food and friendly staff. The food is of a much higher standard than you would expect for a coffee shop, more like a restaurant and very reasonable priced too. Thank you Hilary!

Our 3 different visits to Caffi'r Ceunant this week following the staff's annual winter break lived up to our expectations of excellent friendly service and fantastic tasty food. The menu was wonderfully varied and would suit all tastes and offers real value for money. We have been patronising Caffi'r Ceunant for several years now and can say with all honesty we have never had either a poor meal or inattentive service. We are local to the area and never hesitate to recommend this restaurant both to other locals and visitors alike.

They had a well deserved break after Christmas but what a joy to have them back today. The quality of their cuisine is the best in west Wales.

How lucky are we to have this wonderful restaurant I cannot call it a cafe as the food will rival anything anywhere, the ambience is lovely and Tommy, Hilary and the staff can't do enough for you. If you have any allergies they cater for that too. The food is stunning, different menus every week and we can take our own wine which makes it so cost effective. We can't wait for this Sunday as they have been away on holiday over Xmas and we have really missed them.

Our Welsh learners group chose this cafe for the Christmas dinner and we had a lovely evening. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The staff were friendly and efficient. They were also extremely patient with us when the evening developed into a "sing song" and we didn't leave until late. They are clearly used to dealing with large groups, which made the proceedings all the more relaxed and enjoyable.

We've just spent eight days in the area. The weather was awful but we managed to get out each day. This café was a wonderful find. Tom cooked us breakfast a couple of mornings even tho' breakfast is not on the menu. Hilliary is exceptional in her approach to people. We also had a chat with Dy who is very friendly. Don't miss the place if you're in the area although I think it closes on Mondays and Tuesdays.

After a cross country hike that took twice as long as anticipated, we were tired and hungry and it was 3.00pm on Sunday. The pub had finished their food service so we tried a very ordinary looking cafe with no high hopes. We were greeted warmly and advised we could eat in the small garden with our dog. We chose the roast beef which was plentiful and delicious and, despite the late hour, all, including veg, very fresh. We followed this with fruit crumble. Yum. This cafe is community run and the food is home cooked. A big thank you to Hilary who looked after us in such a friendly manner. Oh, and our dog was grateful for the little plate of beef he was so kindly given.

We were in Twywn for a week and discovered this treat at lunch on Thursday. We loved the lunch so much in the light, bright pretty cafe we asked if they could pack up dinner. No problem. Hilary, the owner, packed up each item separately, labelled each, fitted them all into a box, and even added the crunchy bread and butter which came with our wonderful open roasted mushroom stuffed with goodies and a nut loaf. Both were yummy. We went back for lunch Friday and then breakfast as we left for North Wales on Saturday. The next Saturday we were only about ten miles away down windy, narrow Welsh roads so we dropped in, knowing the trek was worth it.Everything we ordered was wonderful, fresh, featuring local products, but the buttermilk scones! The best! EVER! We also fell for the hazelnut shortbread with chocolate drizzle, and managed to take home the entire batch in two visits. This is what a cafe should be - wonderful food and people, full of sunshine, welcoming. Don't miss a visit. The toilet tissue in the immaculate bathroom next door is even soft!,

We have just had a most excellent meal and pleasurable experience at the Caffi'r Ceunant , Abergynolwyn (4 adults and two very young children). From the moment we entered the restaurant to the time we left nothing was too much trouble for the proprietor who went out of her way to attend to our every need, especially that of our two young children: she couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. The table service was excellent; the menu varied and most interesting; and the standard of food exceptional and promptly served to table. What an incredible asset to the community of Abergynolwyn is Caffi'r Ceunant. It deserves every success. We will certainly be back! Thank you.

This place looks so unassuming from the outside that we would never have thought to try it had we not seen it on here. So glad we did - we loved it! A really simple, honest place with just fantastic food. Fresh ingredients, well cooked. Hubby had ham, eggs and chips; I had ratatouille with a gratin topping. Accompanied by a nice fresh salad. Had we found it earlier, we would have been back here every day, if we could. Definitely worth a visit.

This is a little island of excellence amongst the poorly rated eating places in and around Towyn. They use 100% home sourced ingredients, for instance the trout had been caught the day before by one of the owners. I had excellent beetroot and herring marinated in Welsh cider vinegar. with crusty local bread Very nice and very tasty only to ruin the healthiness with a super Eton mess sundae but after all I am on holiday! This is definitely a place I would recommend and will be returning to next year.

My ratatouille and goat's cheese gratin with salad and warm slices of pitta bread was summer sunshine on a plate! When I dipped under the gratin I found lots of red and orange fresh veg (and some green) and it was delicious. Really tasty. My husband had beetroot and cider pickled herring with salad and crusty bread followed by Eton Mess Sundae. Fantastic healthy food (perhaps not the sundae - naughty but nice!) at realistic prices. Yes you had to wait for the food to be cooked - but it was worth it. This is not "fast food"/chips with everything (thank goodness) but you get great food cooked to order. Now for more detail....The welcome was warn. The tables and chairs were clean and tidy in spite of the many folk eating. The slate place mats were wiped clean after each diner. There was home made vinaigrette on each table (yummy) as well as a cheerful poppy table decoration. The choice of specials was varied and the fish had only been caught the previous day! Hilary (chef/owner) made time to talk to each table of diners. Sandwiches, cakes and snacks were also available. No credit or debit cards were accepted but this was clearly stated on the two entry doors. This is a little gem - do try it!

Was glad to find the Ceunant open as I'd heard so many good things about it.We were welcomed and fed exceptionally food, an amazing thing to find in such a small and remote village as Abergynolwyn, and were very grateful for the service and imaginative menu. Thanks, will return as soon as possible.

Its worth getting in the car (having pre booked a table) for Sunday lunch at Caffi'r Ceunant. We've had Sunday lunch on a number of occasions and never been disappointed. The service is friendly, the food is locally sourced and at a reasonable price (take cash - no card facilities). Its the sort of meal that you leave and think that you've eaten well and you've eaten with probity (since the produce has not been shipped in).As a family we all enjoyed the meal and the dog was left in the car with a car park just beneath the window. To complete a memorable afternoon, take as stroll at Bird rock or Castell y bere (not that i would want to guide you through your whole day!!)
