This place is so much more than you might think from the outside. We had the evening tapas menu and were so impressed, not only by the delicious food (and the local gin!) but by the attention to detail (due to some dietary needs) and the warm welcome from the proprietor. Such a memorable evening. Shout out to the home made, mint chocolate (non dairy) ganache - a little treasure on Anglesey! Season closes 21 September we hear - get in while you can!

We visited last night and had the best tapas we’ve both had for a very long time. Our 9 year old daughter was keen to try tapas for the first time and I think she had the best possible introduction. The tapas dishes were all absolutely delicious, there was a nice selection of wines, local beers and soft drinks. The service was both friendly and efficient and the atmosphere and ambience was perfect. Relaxed with dimmed lights, background music and twinkling fairy lights. The cafe has lots of quirky red squirrel pictures ornaments and decorations. We visited for lunch last week and both the club sandwich and the sharing platter were delicious, and the coffee was so good that I volunteered to drive for our tapas night. Compliments to the extremely talented chef, waiting staff and the owner. An amazing gem of a place. What a find.

Really liked the look of the tapas menu but knew our five year old wouldn't eat it. We asked the friendly owner, Di, if she had a kids menu and she gave us a good choice of the usual kids menu you'd get in a pub. So, fish fingers, chips and peas for the child and a great selection of tapas for my partner and me waked down with some tasty Welsh beer. Friendly accommodating host who even offered to lend me a pair of sunglasses!! Food came relatively quickly and was very tasty! Really enjoyed the whole overall experience. Would recommend.

Lucky find when our original choice had stopped serving. The cafe appeared to be full but by moving people and tables around, the lovely owner managed to fit us in! All dishes were delicious and brought to us by the lovely chef. Will definitely return next time we are in Newborough.

What an unexpected find. After we found ourselves looking for food at 8pm on a Friday night everywhere had stopped serving, we tried Di’s Red Squirrel Cafe. I’m so glad we did, there were a few customers still there and they and the owner Di, welcomed us in. The evening menu is Tapas and it was great, the Gambas Al Ajillo, Champinones Portobello, Calamares, Patatas Bravas and Pimientos Del Padron were all very tasty and along with fresh bread more than enough for 3 hungry bikers. Washed down with some local brew, perfect.

Both the owner and cook bent over backwards to ensure we were happy. We were more than happy, a complete bonus that our dog was allowed in. We visited this lovely little cafe today after a long walk on Newborough Beach. We were all warmly welcomed including our dog who was given a doggy biscuit as a treat whilst we looked at the menu! The food available was varied from stuff like burgers and chips to panninis and jacket potatoes etc and we were assured that if we needed it any meals could be "customised" where it was possible - this was great as one of our party is following a specific diet and so she was kindly accomodated even though she didn't order a set meal from the menu. The choice of food is good and when it arrived it was attractively served and home made.Service was with a smile and staff went over and above to ensure we enjoyed our meal and that everything was to our satisfaction. The coffees were also lovely and served piping hot (unlike in alot of cafes). We enjoyed a nice traditional breakfast, served hot and promptly, with delicious tea and beautiful locally baked rolls. The owner extended a very warm welcome to us and our dog and gave us brilliant tips about where to see red squirrels.

What a find!! Very friendly service from start to finish, a tasty late breakfast and very reasonably priced- everyone agreed the best we'd had this holiday. A choice of hot chocolates- never had that before - milky, white or dark !! The owner was superb and made a big fuss of our 2 dogs who were made extremely welcome with biscuits and cuddles. She was also very helpful as we were off to the beach and she pointed us in the direction of a fab part of the beach that we would probably have missed without her guidance- thank you :) We hope to come again.

Stopped for lunch and were not disappointed. Great coffee and a tasty panini. Reasonable prices and lovely service. Worth a visit.

I thought nipping in to get 5 panini‘s to take to the beach would be quite fast although we had to wait 40 minutes. Nice enough staff and cafe although the food was just too slow!

Food was lovely as was the pub and the staff.cant fault it.my only gripe is the pub allowing dogs at the tables while you're trying to eat and all you can hear is barking..I'm a dog lover but I don't agree with dogs in a pub where people are eating and relaxing.

Going on the strength of other reviews, we booked a table in the dog friendly area of The Crown. Having had and a 2 hour walk beforehand, a well deserved refuelling stop. Quite chilly in that area of the pub. Cheap lunch menu. Specials board more expensive. We had Scampi & fries, small battered cod & chips. Both came with peas. I had much higher expectations and was disappointed in the portion size(5 scampi pieces). Would consider giving it another try sometime, go in the evening and dine in the restaurant area. Pay the more expensive dinner prices, in the hope that the food would not be cooked from frozen and the portion sizes would be satisfying.
