Lovely coffee not as weak as some places sat in there chatting with friends can't fault this place didn't eat anything

Good coffee, served quickly and well. Decent range of food. Sufficient seating for the time off day we went in (Saturday 11am ISH). Clean.

Go into Nero every Sunday morning. Unfortunately, today a member of staff who served me was very ignorant couldnt be bothered to say please or thank you, everything just seemed to much trouble. Dont think she should be working in hospitality.

I've been visiting this Neros multiple times a week for the past four years since I moved to Southend. It's a lovely place to come for lunch to escape the home office for a break. They play soft background music sometimes but it all adds to the pleasant ambiance. If you've been to one Nero then you feel like you've been to them all, but I find this is my favourite just because of how friendly the staff are. Always willing to have a chat and remember your order very quickly if you go in more than once. Other than that it's pretty par for course for a coffee shop. There's plenty of options around but I'll always use it as my go-to cafe in Southend.

A great cafe with the best coffee of all the chain shops. A real oasis in a high street that is otherwise pretty duff.

Went in at 17:25 when it closes at 18:00. Staff didn't look impressed. Most of the tables needed clearing.

Caffè Nero is nice, but please can please be told to keep there brats in control screaming and screaming it's not nice it's a coffee shop, not a children's play area

Service was very slow however the coffee was of a great quality.

First coffee was so hot it burned my lip and when I asked for one at regular temperature the second came the same way. Also, the attitude from the staff made me feel as if I was in the wrong yet in every other store I’ve been to, you have to ask for an extra hot coffee to get one at that temperature. In the thousand or so coffee shops I’ve visited.

Came in today with my nephew to grab a coffee, the lady with the black hair tied back, who has no sense of customer service skills, had seen that I was waiting but yet chose to serve someone else who had pushed in the queue and she had even seen that they had pushed in the queue. There’s basic decorum and basic skills when working in an establishment like this, really disappointing.

Love Nero but not today in Southend. Cluttered and filthy tables which were very slow to be cleared and cleaned. Not be rushing back.

Stood for over 10 mins at the counter was ignored by both staff members, not sure how long the lady in front of me was waiting but the staff were cleaning an empty coffee shop as there was only 2 customers seated. That person serving Ignored the fact I was stood for a while made 1 latte and that seemed to her over 5 mins to do, definitely not busy at all and no reason to ignore paying customers! Customer service is non existent and not the first time it’s happened here. Much better coffee and ALOT better service elsewhere!

Great coffee as always. Staff are friendly. However the decor is looking a little tired and needs a bit of tidying up. Other than that all good.

Popped in for the first time today. Only 2 staff working but they didn't stop. Needs more staff because there were a few tables that needed clearing. Food was tasty, and coffee was lovely. The place definitely needs a refurb and a deep clean. Toilets were locked so I had to queue up to get a code for the lock. Why are they locked? It's just silly!

The coffee and cake were very good. The staff were friendly. The toilets could do with some modernisation, but at least they had some. We will go back. It was very pleasant.

A small cosy branch with original features remaining from the old Midland bank which formerly occupied the building. Indoor and outdoor seating. Right on the high street.

It's a bit scruffy but I love the atmosphere and the best coffee on the high Street easily!

Visited today (10/8/23) and the staff were super friendly, helpful and delivered a fantastic service. Special thanks to the member of staff who gave my dog a bowl of water which he lapped up. My dog would also like to rate this nero branch as 5 star.

It's ok, average coffee shop. A little cramp, but I'm in a wheelchair and was able to go to toilet and get a seat.

I prefer the coffee in Café Nero, I find it's more Italian than the other coffee shop chains plus they do the locher wafers, yummy 👍👍👍

Place seems tired and worn, pipes above coffee station really need a clean and every week we are given take out cups because they don't have any china ones left

We just went in for a quick coffee, nice and peaceful, and we got ourselves a quiet spot in the corner

Every time I go in, I get a hot chocolate and each time I receive amazing customer service and a perfect hot chocolate. Would definitely recommend even if you only try it once.

Cafe Nero Southend been shopping went to have my favourite chia latte tea which is delicious I have never eaten in Neros and never will I had to use the toilet on this occasion 1st I had to get a code to use it And had to go to the food counter to get it One toilet for both male/female one disabled toilet which was locked that was appalling I have never seen a toilet is such a awful state I was scared to touch anything in it I went to the counter to complain and was offered another drink as a freebie which I declined The two staff that were serving told me they had the responsibility of cleaning this toilet either at the beginning or the end of their shifts It’s unacceptable that Neros expect their staff who handles food to clean the toilets They should have cleaners to do that Yes I will probably go again to have my chia tea what I will never do is eat in there or use the toilets ever again Shame on Neros for expecting the catering staff to clean the toilets

Good place to have a coffee, friendly members of staff but the only problem is that they have a fruit fly infestation. Fruit flies are all over the coffee shop. And they land on your coffee. So they need to do a proper clean and get rid of them. I can't imagine what is happening behind the counter with all the milk and food. Also fridge for yogurt and juices really need a proper clean. Full of dust and food crumbs maybe that's why they have fruit flies all over. Spider Web all over around. Good prices and you can pay with cash.

The coffee here is really nice, I would recommend getting their special bean.

Love Cafe Nero but this is one of the best I have been to. Flat white absolutely delicious and well made. Also nice to see that when the Barista was not busy he was wiping down taBles. Wish other Cafe Nero’s were are good as this one.

I visited and stayed for 45 mins. My table and other tables were piled with used crockery, and in all this time no one came to clear or wipe the tables. I noticed one member of staff, a trainee, working very hard, while another seemed to be standing around - very odd?

Very nice cuppa and cake. Usually a favourite precovid. But I haven't been in there much recently. Seems unloved now, the place felt a bit dirty. The staff are very pleasant but they could smile a little. I felt like despite being helpful, that my order was a slight hassel. I might pop in again. But find other coffee shops cleaner and have a happier vibe.

Always use this store whilst in southend Friendly staff. Glad too see the toilets where having a make over as they was rather grim

Drinks are good however sadly, on both occasions I’ve visited (which were months apart) I have found the staff to be quite dismissive and a tad rude. Cleaning could be done a bit faster as well :( , I hope to see decent improvement in the future:)

I love this branch. Because of the high ceilings it always feels cool even on the hottest days. The chairs could do with a little updating as they are looking tired but they're still comfy. Normally classical music playing too which is lovely

My girlfriends and I always meet up here for a coffee or a fruit boost smoothie... it's chilled and the staff are great!

Expensive as usual but decent enough coffee and food.

We came in for a cortado to take away. They had run out of decaffeinated coffee unfortunately so we made do with regular. As usual from this chain the coffee was very good.

Very large a airy interior, with the usual comfortable chairs to chose from. Staff were friendly. Coffee, as always, is of good quality. Caffe Nero, have always been my favourite of the chain coffee shops.

Nice place to relax for lunch during university hours, however, the food and drinks though nice are rather overpriced. Just do not for the life of you order tea, it was the most milky flavourless lukewarm tea I have ever had in my 21years on Earth.

Lovely coffee and staff! Sometimes, the loos can be messy, as people use them as public loos, even with key control.

Cafe Nero is my first option for a high street coffee, a better taste and good plant based milks. The service I have received at the Southend-on-Sea branch has so far been good and customer focused. When I get a bad service I automatically take off two stars in my little rating policy as good service costs nothing and businesses should do all they can to deliver this. The coffee here is very good and I now have the coconut latte which hits the spot for me. I think Nero could be offering better vegan options with the foods they offer as a mono option is not a choice but a singular yes or no. With trends and outlets all ramping up their vegan choices Nero could push out the boat and try and create unique options to out shine its competitors. On a downside I often see tables that have lots of discarded rubbish and empty cups and saucers which are not pleasant. This on top of the staff chatting instead of clearing the debris means I leave the shop and go elsewhere. I am not the only one to make reference to this issue as I have seen it mentioned in other reviews. Update on 17/04/22 Had to drop a star today. As I looked around at the place there is a ledge at head height, when sitting, that is s kind of dado rail. It was caked,yes caked no exaggeration, in dust. They may wipe the tables but this ledge and around the shop was disgusting. I have included two pictures, one of the dust on the ledge and another of the dust on my finger which I wiped briefly on the dust ledge. Not nice at all. Yucky.

Coffee is always great but the decor needs a refresh.

One of my favourite coffee places in Southend (tied to the Costa down the road). Really amazing old building with high ceilings instantly makes the place seem less crowded that it actually might be. Staff are very friendly and the coffee is really good. Overall less crowded than the Costa

Nice place to drink a coffee and get a relaxed break.

I was given a piece of Tiramisù cake that was completely stale. The cream was dry as well as the sponge, I had to ask to change it with something else as that was a health and safety concern to be honest. The barista was very abrupt, even though she offered to replace it with any other cake, I had to pick a croissant to avoid a food poisoning. Obviously I didn't receive a refund for the difference of price ending up to pay a croissant the price of a slice of cake. I don't really think it is safe to sell cakes in that condition, especially when it's a Tiramisù containing either mascarpone or whipped cream.
