Caffe Nero in Reading

Cold, the doors stayed open far too long on a very cold day. Wifi is hideous. Seems you don't value your customers at all to offer this dreadful wifi service.

Do not buy takeaway coffee… I did think Nero offer nice coffee, until I bought “smelly” coffee couple times. Disgusting smell, suspiciously from a wet old towel, cover the lid and cup, it ruins the coffee and brings potential hygiene issues! Suggestion: get rid of old towels please, don’t let those detail ruin the brand

I had a terrible experience at this branch—the worst I’ve ever visited.👎🏻👎🏻 The staff was unprofessional and unhelpful. I scanned my voucher code multiple times because it wasn’t working properly. Despite following the staff member’s instructions to scan it repeatedly, she insisted that the voucher had already been redeemed and didn’t seem to understand my explanation. As a result, I was charged the full price even though my voucher should have been valid. I ordered a Tiramisu Latte, which I’ve been enjoying from other branches since Christmas. Unfortunately, this one was completely tasteless—the worst I’ve had in the past three months. To make things worse, the drink is supposed to come with a biscuit, but when I asked for it, the staff member incorrectly insisted that it doesn’t. Overall, it was a very disappointing and frustrating experience.

Pretty standard Nero - staff that act like they are waiting to die. Disinterested glacial like service and a low chance of them getting your drink correct.

One of the best coffee chain cafes I go to. Always tidy and the staff are friendly. The atmosphere is great, nice jazz in the background, big windows.

We have come here over the past few years quite a few times, with its convenient location for Heathrow coach, railway station and for a number of local buses too; nice staff, clean interior, cozy ambience with Mozart, jazz; excellent staff, food and coffee. Always a pleasure to relax here.

Overall, the store is extremely lovely, with great coffee and a pleasant atmosphere. But what bothers me is that the store manager does nothing to aid the team. I always see her hidden in the corner, and I notice one lady going up and down, dealing with the queue and doing everything. And then, while the lady was taking my order, she kept interrupting and talking to the staff whilst i was trying to order which was quite rude of her.

We ordered 16 drinks to celebrate recent sucess at the GP surgery. Unfortunately many drinks came half full. They were not marked what they are so one member of staff was left without drink to keep her safe due to severe nut allergy. One drink tasted of pure water. Big dissapointment and we managment have let our staff down massively with poor quality drinks. We also called the cafe and they were not willing to accomodate a drink that was out of the stock. Again another member of staff left without a drink. Avoid!!

The two ladies behind the bar were lovely, the one who made my drinks was a trainee but she was excellent on the bar. Served everyone so quickly and drinks were also made very quickly, thank you!⭐️

Came this morning for a coffee before my commute. Was served by a trainee barista, he was very polite and made an amazing coffee! Good job!!

Very disappointed with the frappe order. Looks more like chocolate ice slush rather than a frappe. Not worth the money you pay for it.

Very pleasant coffee shop very close to Reading station, clean, relaxing music and a range of seating spaces. Large Americano £3.25 but Octopoints customers can get a free one!

I love Nero’s coffee but I really don’t like the atmosphere in this branch. The place is cramped although in fairness it’s near the train station and so has a lot walk in customers. I really wish they would recruit some men, the girls are not the friendliest or politest. They are always rushing as if we remember the menu by heart. In their defence, they do work hard. Which is probably why they are a bit tired. I still think it would be nice to have a more diverse staff.

Today these guys let a completely mad man get in the cafe to shout and disturb everyone. Why would you let a physopath get into the cafe when you see clearly he has to be in a mental hospital?

Love this place, been a few times before, nice surroundings, lovely cappuccino and a still warm almond croissant for breakfast, great way to start the day. Super barista’s and staff always helpful

This is one of the rudest branches of Nero. Never a smile. Always judgmental. Stereotype others. Took wrong order once and charged higher price. Wouldn't refund. Lied to me to go to the app. They are supposed to refund at the store.

Just got a large take away Cappuccino, got into work, opened the lid and only "half ful" or "half empty" lol just not right that you pay for a large coffee and you get equivalent of a regular! Decent flavour as always.

Very decent coffee, both the flat white n long black. Nice ambience. Usual students using the place as their study area there but not an issue on a non-busy Sunday

Well I do think that there are some better coffee places around reading in terms of the coffee itself. This café Nero is my favourite location. I think the décor matches the music well and it's great to sit inside on a rainy day. It is also perfect to sit outside on a Sunny day and watch the world go by, or just Reading and all its madness. Either way it's always a good time

I have been to other branches and this one is clean, prime and the staff is friendly. Some of their staff have a keen eye and keep an attention to detail attitude. Been coming here regularly for 2 months and can say its my favourite Caffe nero branch. (Ps- My recommendation is their focaccia with chicken and red peppers with a large mocha with whipped cream if you have a bit of sweet tooth like me <3)

This is one to avoid. The tables are not cleared & the place looks run down& dirty. Big queues & only 2 staff who were struggling to keep up with the customers. Problem with groups of ‘students’ with laptops hogging tables. While I was there saw customers leaving because of the queues & lack of free tables.

it's really bad service, specially when told that shop has closed and clearly it wasn't the hour to close. nothing worse than a lazy attitude.

An excellent place for decent cup of coffee and more. The service is fast, efficient and helpful female baristas make it a bit more likeable place to have a break.

I went to cafe Nero with a friend, we sat had a drink and a chat. The service was good and the atmosphere was relaxing. I would go there again.

This Nero is right next to Reading Station. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. We really enjoyed our drinks, and the seating is cosy and spacious. I will definitely visit again and recommend this cafe!

Nice staff and good coffee. Wasn't crowded on a Sunday at about 10.30am, plenty of seats in and out.

Very welcoming staff, lovely coffee. Large latte and croissant was £5. Which is to be expected in the city centre. Seating area is well spaced out and power sockets to charge.

As per my daily routine, I went to the Riverside Cafe Nero. Being a Saturday afternoon, I couldn’t find a table outside, thus I went to Cafe Nero Apex Plaza. Unfortunately the manageress “Eva” wasn’t there, only a trainee barista, who was left on her own. Im sure that she was trying her best, however not only the drink was poor but also her English. I asked for a large hot chocolate, with chocolate on the top and some extra hot milk on the said, she asked me if I wanted “chocolat chaud”, I said yes. When I tasted the hot chocolate it was full of foam, went back twice asking for HOT MILK, not hot foam, finally an experienced barista showed up, she volunteered to ask me if I wanted a new one, I said no just more hot milk please. Obviously next time - if I will come back here - first I will ensure that an experienced member of staff is available before I repeat such an unpleasant bad experience.

Nero coffee in my opinion taste better than Costa coffee. Nice little Nero shop near the train station, part inside apex plaza. Little bit put of the way from main shopping area of town makes this place a nice visit.

Average iced drinks, nothing too special.

Sat inside today but did not feel that Covid safe. Customers were allowed to hand over their own cups for filling with drinks. No mention of NHS check in to customers.

This branch is my all time favourite Nero cafe' in Reading. There are many tables that I normally come to do my homework during the weekend. The staffs are nice. The place is clean, tidy, and smell good!

Great coffee and food with a warm welcome. Often a little quieter than the branches in the centre of Reading. Most seats have access to usb and power sockets for phone and laptop charging.

Comfortable seating, close to Reading railway station, when busy a little slow to be served and a little cold when seated (in the winter) but overall, a good experience!

Delicious coffee best in Reading i reckon. Staff are friendy professional and easy to deal with. They obviously take their jobs seriously which shows.

Popped in on a Tuesday lunchtime. Plenty of places to sit down so we sat by the window and watched the world go past. Quick service and nice polite staff. Coffee was good, as you expect from Cafe Nero. Use the new app for lots of bonus stamps and free coffee.

This used to be my go to coffee place, but unfortunately it now attracts ‘students’ with laptops. They take up all the double seats. They sit there for hours. They don’t spend any money. They only drink the free water. I’m surprised Caffè Nero let this happen as it must have an impact on their trade.

Being Easter Sunday Cafe Nero at the Oracle - my favourite - is closed. Very busy specially the sunny outside seating area. I enjoyed my large latte though the milk was not very hot as I usually like it. Staff are good

they always forget to add cream on top on my usual, I always have to ask it again when I feel like I shouldn't because I explicitly say with whipped cream every time. Today they done the same. Fed up, I threw coffee in the bin and went somewhere else where people get my order right and they're nicer. Lost £2.90 but I got my order right somewhere else.

Probably my favourite Caffe Nero, it's got a classic, high end feel to it and shines above most over coffee shop chains in Reading.

Great coffee as usual and the new cookies are worth a try! Also I appreciate their baby changing facilities and the slightly hidden (at least on weekends) seating behind the barista area for more privacy when breastfeeding.

First time in here ( daily at Cafe Nero Riverside ). Very large , good seating arrangement & comfortable seats Decided to use my Cafe Nero Porridge Voucher. Service is good ( I see some of the staff at the other branches.

Typical Cafe Nero, if you like them then this is a good one to visit. Less than a minute from Reading train station and space to move around. Quick service as you would expect and a fair bit of seating. Comfortable and warm in the winter.
