Caffe Gondola in Runnymede

Nice menu. Always have great food and great service.

I regularly visit Caffe Gondola as I feel comfortable there and have noticed a steady increase in solo ladies visiting. I guess it's the good food, pleasant surroundings and atmosphere. The food is to a very high standard as is the service and the Chef is happy to accommodate special requests. Last week I had calves liver, bacon, onion with tasty gravy, accompanied by mashed potato and I usually ask for extra gravy. Unfortunately I did not take a picture as the liver was perfectly cooked - medium rare, as I had asked for. Absolutely delicious. The calves liver was on their 'Specials' Menu as were the seabass fillets with capers which I had a couple of weeks ago. They were served with a generous portion of side salad. I always look at the Specials Menu first and there is usually something delicious and tasty that I like. Rarely do I have pizza (best pizza in town) or pasta dishes although there is a lot of choice and also lovely starters. Their desert menu definitely deserves a mention with the tiramisu and pannacotta being the stars but that's my personal opinion. Caffe Gondola is open from 10.00 - 22.30 Sunday to Thursday and 10.00 - 22.30 Friday and Saturday. The kitchen is open from 11.00/11.30 Monday to Friday and from 10.00 on Saturday and Sunday serving breakfast (good choice). The kitchen is open all day soyou don't have to stick to the 'norm' when to eat. A late lunch mid afternoon or early dinner, why not. The place is good for meeting friends and family or go solo for coffee, a drink and fantastic food. The added bonus is that the restaurant has got no steps and is easily accessible from the pavement into the restaurant. The toilets are also easily accessible with a separate disabled/accessible toilet.

Decided to try Caffe Gondola on the recommendation of friends. Nice place, good service, but the food didn’t live up to the ratings. I had a below average lasagna with too much sauce, very little mince and little flavour or character. It did not seem freshly made, but heated up in a microwave and put in the oven just long enough to melt the cheese. It came out too fast to have been cooked “al forno”. It certainly did not meet my expectations. My kid had pizza and wasn’t impressed. He described it as “OK”.

This Italian restaurant is one of the best restaurants in town lovely atmosphere very good food and friendly stuff. I recommend to everyone to try feel like home

Not sure what happened to the customary cordiality last night! Went elsewhere in its absence! Disappointing reception.

We had a family dinner there and all the food there was very nice! Especially the seafood risotto and the lamp! Only one problem is we were sitting inside the restaurant near the kitchen (which is already far away from the entrance) However, the smell of smoke still came in from outside. As a group of non-smokers would feel quite annoying about it.

Great service, fine food, amazing calzone, nice mojito, for 2 drinks, 2 pizzas, we paid just around 100£ but atmosphere and good service has its cost, I will visit again!

Food was ok and brought quickly. Unfortunately the positive evening ended here with rude staff and double charging for food and drink. Having paid £60 bill the staff complained that we had asked to have our bill produced separately. Afterwards cafe gondola took it upon themselves to add the food bill back onto the main bill and take the money for a second time from the group. Seems fraudulent to me. Moreover, the group were led to believe that we had left without paying and this was particularly awful as the bill had been paid. Personally I will never return to this cafe and be open to fraudulent behaviour. Stay away and use one of the much better places in Egham. Hopefully our friends will be reimbursed the £60 that was stolen from them by this cafe.

Very nice Italian restaurant. The food was very tasty and well served.

I came here a couple days ago with my mum. I got the penne al forno. Was the best pasta I’ve had except the chicken was rubbery and gristly. I got food poisoning from it and was throwing up all night and my mum had the same experience. Please sort this out so we can come back again

I visit Caffe Gondola regularly and usually pick something from the Specials menu. The week before I had the calves liver with onion, bacon, gravy and mashed potato which was delicious as always. Last week I had the Salad Nicoise which was served with a tuna steak on top. It was perfectly cooked (medium rare) and the presentation was amazing. The picture doesn’t really do it justice. They have Peroni on tap, a good wine selection and a wide range of cocktails. Occasionally I have a desert (I don’t have a sweet tooth) and I love their Panacotta with berries which is very light. Last week I tried the Afagatto which was very nice and finished off the meal perfectly. I can thoroughly recommend this restaurant, friendly service and excellent food and will definitely pay a visit in the next few days.

I had a pizza from this spot delivered home and it was absolutely delicious! Only thing I would improve on - I have ordered a pizza, quattro stagioni to be precise and I expected artichokes to be included in the price, unfortunately, I had to pay £3 extra for them to be added! Shame. Pizza was excellent, took long to arrive from Egham but I also live far away but the pizza was still warm (I live 4.5 miles away from the restaurant). I will be ordering again, there are so many yummy things on the menu 👍

Went out 3 couples last night. Great atmosphere. Always greeted by friendly faces. We all had starters and mains and each dish was spot on! Well cooked plenty on you plate and well priced. We all had wine and cocktails and all in about £65 per person. Highly recommend and a defo if in Egham

we came here for my sister’s birthday dinner - i’ve been here a few times before and i have enjoyed me time each time. The servers are all very polite and nice and the food is super filling and yummy! i would definitely recommend for a nice Italian meal lunch or dinner!

Amazing Pizza and top Service. I have ordered Pizza via uber eats and something went wrong and I received a wrong Pizza. After calling the Restaurant, the Manager was very kind and polite. Instead of referring me to uber eats(90% of all people would do that), he asked after my address and offered redelivery, which I happily accepted. The correct Pizza arrived after 10min and it was as fresh as I would eat inside the restaurant. Very good pizza, top customer service. 👌 definitely to recommend for everyone. Making good food is one side of the medal, but having also that kind of character is the other side. Thank you again guys for this awesome service and have an amazing sunday!

I haven't eaten here yet but I wish these places would put a written menu so that we could see what they had to offer , not just pictures of menus or food.

My favourite restaurant in Egham. It is simply fabulous. The staff are such a kind group of people, and therefore, I visit regularly. I have never had a negative experience here. Food is amazing, service is prompt, and as I say, you cannot fault the staff. Love them and their restaurant! I will always try and visit Gondola once a week or so.

I visit Caffe Gondola regularly and sometimes have a starter rather than a main course (always from their excellent Specials Menu), depending on how hungry I feel. I have recently enjoyed the scallops with chilli and garlic on a bed of spinach which is very tasty, so many flavours complementing each other. I usually ask the Chef to cut the scallops into small pieces which makes them very tender and tasty. The food is consistently good, the staff are friendly and helpful and it's always good to see other regulars.

Mid food but bad service. Asked to remove the service charge as service my party received was not great. Restaurant manager made it so awkward for us that we ended up paying it in anycase.

A group of 4 friends had dinner on a Friday night at Cafe Gondola. The food was excellent, though my porcini mushroom risotto portion was a tad on the small side. My 3 friends had pasta dishes which they all thoroughly enjoyed. Desert was delicious. The prices were reasonable. Service was fairly good. Our waiter was unfortunately not very communicative. The atmosphere was good though at times it became very noisy. I do recommend this restaurant and will definitely be going back again.

Breakfast meeting at Caffe Gondola was a great choice. Full English plus 2 veggie bfast. 2 latte and a orange juice. Food was superb, cooked to perfection. Coffee as you would expect was excellent. Service good, price good. Setting great. When in Egham again I will return. Faultless.

Honesty some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. I know pizza is one of those subjective things that can be quite unique for each person, but for me at least, this place does the best pizza. Can’t get enough of it. Dining in is a nice experience too, I like to sit outside usually.

My husband and I enjoyed a fantastic lunch there this afternoon.We in fact couldn't fault anything... We will certainly recommend to friends and will return before too long .

The food was delicious and portions very generous, staff were attentive but not overly so which made it a very pleasant place to have a quiet lunch. Atmosphere was lacking but perhaps this is more to do with the time we visited

I’ve lived in Italy for 30 years, so I’m always pretty critical of Italian restaurants. This place came pretty close to real Italian food. The service was friendly if slow. The atmosphere was fine although far from being a luxury restaurant. Great place for a family meal.

Came here for dinner for the first time in ages and still just as good. Both pizza and pasta were extremely tasty, and a good pint of Peroni too.

I use the Caffè Gondola regularly. The food there is absolutely delicious. 😊 I find the staff to be friendly and helpful. Their Spaghetti Bolognese is out of this world. Recently I have been having the Carbonara with the HP sauce that they use at breakfast. I know that sounds crazy, but it works. Talking of their breakfasts they are great too. What I love is that the bacon and sausages are grilled and not fried so there is no fat on the plate. I will be back at the Caffè Gondola soon.

I visit Caffe Gondola regularly, sometimes on my own and sometimes with friends. One of the new additions to the Specials Menu is Homemade Ravioli with crabmeat, chilli, garlic and served in a lovely tomato sauce. I have ordered it on three separate occasions and I know that one of my friends has also been there several times to enjoy that particular dish. Of course the pan fried Scallops served on a bed of spinach are still a firm favourite of mine. Last week I ordered the Buffalo Mozzarella and Tomato salad, served with fresh basil and an olive oil and balsamic vinegar dressing. It was so nice that I ordered it again a couple of days later. There is of course also the extensive Standard Menu to chose from. The quality and freshness of the food is matched by the friendliness of the staff who always endeavour to go the extra mile. Who doesn’t enjoy good service with a smile.

It is good, not amazing, but it is good. Great service, and it's a nice place although they play quite high energy pop music for a nice restaurant vibe.

Love Cafe Gondola. In a world of comodotised highstreet Italian chains, this is a slice of paradise. Great selection on the menu, but not too broad. See the pizza oven roar in the kitchen. Have your choice of cocktails to begin and a very reasonable selection of wine by the glass or bottle. I'm glad to see them busy on the peak nights of the week. And if you're staying in, they are available for delivery on Uber eats.

We own the Sts Italian Deli on the corner, today we came to have a dinner here! And as a Italian food shopping owner I can tell that the food is 10/10! Service 10/10! My husband had a mussels and I had the prawns and asparagus risoto…. Amazing!! 💥 more than 5 stars! 💥

Legitimately the great restaurant I have ever been in my life. The whole experience from start to finish is great. The waitress are always friendly and kind. The food is absolutely delicious and the prices are fair I have to mention that the portions are pretty big. Caffe Gondola is a very warm and welcoming environment I definitely recommend it and will always come back to dine in and take out. I have also used delivery because honestly can’t live without your dishes. If you looking for somewhere to go there is the great spot to get great food and best service ever.

We went there on Tuesday evening for dinner. There were four of us. We had booked and for a Tuesday night it seemed fairly busy. The staff were very friendly and made us feel special. Two of us needed to have gluten free. That was not a problem for them as they said they could do any of the pasta dishes with gluten free pasta. Also all the sauces were gluten free and very delicious. We all had three courses a bottle of wine and three pints of larger, the bill came to just under £200 which I thought was very reasonable. I would definitely return and recommend the restaurant.

this review is a little late as it was actually New Years Eve when we visited. The starters were lovely we had crispy squid, I had the Pollo Pasta which was delicious and my husband had the steak for which he nearly didn't go for as it was £30 but he actually said he thought it was one of the best steaks he had ever had. We didn't have dessert on this occasion but know from past visits they are also great. highly recommend this resturent

Very lovely staff food was nice

Despite losing my beloved Partner I still visit Caffe Gondola regularly as I feel very comfortable there and they always make me feel very welcome. I never feel out of place being a woman on my own. I went there twice last week and had Capesanti con Spinaci, which is fresh scallops rolled in bacon, served with spinach and cooked with chilli, garlic and white wine sauce. Absolutely delicious. When I went back a couple of days later there was a new starter on the Specials menu Moscardini Picante which is baby octopus cooked with white wine, garlic, chilli, tomato sauce and toasted garlic bread. It was divine, so much so when I went back a few days later I had it again as it is really tasty. It was so inviting and I tucked in straight away and forgot to take a picture. It is a great place, be it just for coffee or breakfast, lunch and dinner. There's a lot of choice on the Main Menu and they always have a Specials Menu which changes regularly. I cannot recommend them enough and the staff are always going the extra mile.

The food was bearable but their service and their waiters including the manager or the owner I don’t know who he was had nasty attitude. He went to every table to ask expect our’s. P.S I think if you treat people of colour with respect then I believe we would have enjoyed to sit and eat at your so called restaurant. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone especially people of colour because these people are so rude and bland just like their food.

Really lovely food. I really enjoyed my main meal of salmon ravioli was from the specials menu. Everyone who served us was very friendly. The restaurant was not full but at the right level to create a buzz. Will come back.

Went here not long ago for a pizza amd decided to have a calzone which was very nice. Definetly one of the best places around when it comes to pizza.

We had a lovely meal here it was tasty and very filling, My girls got pizza and I had pasta al forno, salad, drinks, and bruschetta. Everything was delicious, the restaurant was lovely decorated, and the staff was friendly. We will come back.

After 13 wonderful and very happy years my beloved Partner sadly passed away. One of my friends (she adored him as did all my girlfriends) from Buckinghamshire came to visit me last weekend. After me talking for nearly three hours about my beloved Steve we both felt hungry and so we went to Caffe Gondola, of course! My friend looked at the Specials Menu and immediately spotted Slow-cooked rack of Pork Ribs in barbecue sauce (not overpowering), served with fries and a generous portion of coleslaw. In all the years that we have gone to Caffe Gondola they have never had the Pork ribs on their Specials menu, something Steve so loved and I felt obliged to have the ribs. My friend and I both did in his memory and my goodness, they were outstanding. I couldn’t finish mine and had them the next day for dinner and kept thinking how much my Darling would have loved them. Thank you for looking after us for all those years and for paying your respects on Friday. We spent so many happy hours in Caffe Gondola and I feel so comfortable there, even on my own.

Outstanding service and price is reasonable for quality of very good food served. Presentation of dishes served are very upscale. Highly recommended!
