Hard working friendly staff. Always welcome everyone who goes in. Brilliant varied menu with reasonable prices. They do a fab breakfast. Even our dog ' Bella ' drags us in there for her sausages in which they bring every time. I would recommend this place to everyone . You will not be disappointed !

The food is really nice, but the hygiene is questionable. They use bare hands to make the food and don’t wash them thoroughly.

We dropped into Cafe 53 for dinner. Unfortunately my autistic daughter had set her heart on cooking burger and chips for her brother and herself for evening meal.that meant no chips for dinner. Having a neuro diverse family means meals can be awkward. For instance my daughter wanted toast and sausages. They arrived perfect for her one toast and one sausage x2. My son likes bacon butties but with no spread, it arrived perfect double amount of bacon between two non spread slices of bread. My husband wanted a small breakfast and what arrived was perfect one sausage, two bacon, baked beans, fried egg, two hash browns and two toast with a cup of coffee. I spotted a large Yorkshire pudding meal which included mash potato, slices of turkey meat, stuffing and onion gravy. I have a medical condition which makes eating a full meal impossible the kindly staff gave me a takeaway box to put the 3/4 I couldn’t eat in and take hoe for later. PERFECT!

I came in here a few years ago and gave it another go today. I had a braised beef sandwich and my wife had poached eggs on toast with an extra portion of mushrooms. The food was excellent quality and good portions too. Our cappuccinos were also very nice. Prices are very reasonable indeed. Service was efficient and friendly.

Ordered 2 cheeseburgers and chips for the kids and a breakfast sandwich. They were very busy in store, a lot going on but our order was fast and the staff were really nice. Kids talked me into buying malteser cakes which were on display and looked very good. Our food was hot and fresh. Would highly recommend this shop. Brilliant food, friendly staff.

We’ve tried many things from cafe53, mostly their breakfast sandwiches which are delicious. We tried a cold sandwich today and we were left speechless. The ham salad sandwich was packed full of not only ham but egg, beetroot, to,ate, lettuce, cucumber and onion. I have never seen a sandwich top slice so far above the bottom. Not only are they tasty but great value too at just over £3.50 each we couldn’t have asked for more.

2 years since our last visit and we wondered how the cafe had survived covid. Looks great - and the food of the same high standard - had to have home made steak pie again!.. Piping hot and lovely atmosphere. Many thanks

We've been going to Cafe 53 ages. It's a lovely visit for us on the way to pick up our granddaughters from school. The staff are so helpful and friendly and during lockdown we can get a takeaway, the food is great. Looking forward to taking the girls for ice creams next year when hopefully things will get better.

Sunday morning needed a full english, Cafe 53 satisfied the need. Tasty food, not too much of a wait, good value for money. Ignore the poor review, two coffees do not cost £7, go along the road to Starbucks for that sort of expense.

When I first arrived I wasn’t sure but I was willing to give it a try, I’m so glad I did. We took my mother in law to get her out of the house and wanted to go somewhere not too far for lunch on a Sunday that wasn’t meat and 2 veg! We all had paninis with a bowl of chips to share, there was plenty, the Jamaican Jerk Chicken panini was delicious. The Americano coffee was also nice and strong, the latte looked nice too, maybe could have been a little hotter?

We always come here for lunch with our children. The owner and staff are very friendly and accommodating. We enjoy the food and despite some odd orders from my autistic children, they've always obliged with a smile. The food is always good quality and the portions are large, especially for the price. Can't fault it one bit and we'll continue our usual weekly visits. :)

If you are after a posh cafe with the latest continental trendiness then don’t come here. If however you’re after something tasty, predictable and at a reasonable price then it is the place to come. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is down to earth. Well done team.

Went to cafe 53 and purchased two flat cakes - one with spam, egg and bacon and one with spam and egg costing £8.20. Got back home to open them up to put brown sauce in and thought I lost half the tea cake on my way home - Spam and egg only had 3 pieces of spam and a egg in. Flat tea cake clearly cost more than the contents itself

The food itself isn't the problem, in fact it's quite nice. The place itself is a bit of a dump and needs refurbishment, and the tables are often sticky. I would recommend for take out food, but not a sit down meal of any kind.

I used to come here every Saturday morning for breakfast with my son when he was a youngster, but have not visited for a while. Having to walk through Mirfield on a blazing hot day I was drawn back to Cafe 53 like a magnet. It is more colourful than I remember and the menu is more extensive, although for me that is largely irrelevant as I only ever have the full English. And that's what I had again, its substantial with bacon eggs (I always have two), black pudding, hash browns, beans, fried bread and toast with butter and a mug of coffee. It is very well cooked and at £6.30 very good value. The cafe is clean and bright and its good to sit in the window and watch the mad traffic going through Mirfield. There is a shake and ice cream bar so I will have to bring the grandkids and re-live old memories. There are lots of cafes in Mirfield now, but apart from Chelle's I am never tempted away from Cafe 53, however good the others may be. To me, there is something wonderful about going back to a familiar haunt to find your favourite meal is still just as good as you remember.

Called in for a cappuccino and took a table in the window. Next table were all tucking into breakfast which looked and smelled great. Shame I was on my way to the fish shop. My drink was cheaper than in an average cafe and served in a large cheery orange cup and matching saucer. Drink was enjoyable.

The café is in a building that was the Regent cinema but now split up with an art gallery of the first floor. The café is two sections, the left side with the TV, soft drinks cabinet and order counter. It is here you order from the menus on the tables. They draw attention to coffee, ice cream, milkshakes, and offer breakfasts and take outs, even deliveries. Free wifi is on offer. The special boards included my lasagne with cheese topping chips and salad but also Duck in sauce with chips and side salad. As found in this county the Yorkshire pudding holds other elements such as sausages in onion gravy, which Virgin East Coast had copied for their train south. The seats in right side are more padded. The chips were a big contrast in thickness to the thin ones in a Wimpy.

Our first time here, had a cooked breakfast all cooked to perfection. Tasted homemade, no frills and no namby pamby presentation. It's a nice bright, clean relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of butter served with the thick sliced toast. Proper mug of coffee none of these silly little pretend mugs with tiny handles. An up market version of a greasy spoon for its prices, hospitality and homecooked food, but with a much nicer surroundings, cleaner, brighter, crockery matching environment. Would definitely go again and highly recommend the place.

If you want a fry up in Mirfield, this is the place... I eat here fairly regularly. No fuss, no frills... The only negative would be that the prices have crept up recently so is rather pricey for what you get.

It's really good food in the café bit but in the ice cream parlour they used out of date milk and went if it doesn't taste right bring it back ! Also one of the women treat my friend as though she was four asking her the same question 3 times ! but the café bit can't be faulted ! And good prices for the childrens menu !

We frequent to Café53 for a weekend breakfast, the shop has recently undergone a refurb and now serves all kinds of milkshakes and ice creams etc. The food is always excellent, its traditional English café grub at its best, the service is always friendly and the food is always swift. It's perfect to just sit back, read the paper with a brew and have some hearty food. It's cheap and the food is plentiful.. What more could you want.

This was our 4th outing to this superb restaurant for Sunday lunch. Our friends were as impressed as we were once again. The food was outstanding, the service exemplary and we could not have been treated any more like VIP’s by Francis and his team. The entire experience was indeed just wonderful and we will be back again very soon. Thank you everyone. You’re true professionals.
