Waterstones based in Liverpool has a wide variety of books for everyone. Upstairs it has a cafe that offers food and drinks. They have plenty of offers on books. Worth a visit if you go shopping in Liverpool. They event sell the Mowgli cook books. Which is a new known popular Indian restaurant in Liverpool city centre. I've been told their cuisine is divine. Also across the way from waterstones. I bumped into Paddington Bear. 😃

Despite the bad reviews of old hags complaining about grandad bondage and a bad cafe, everyone here is super nice and the cafe staff are all so friendly the shop workers are all awesome too. I personally think these bad reviews need to get there head out their backside and learn to respect the staff and stop making themselves look foolish

This review is solely a reflection of two female, brunette members of staff in the cafe on. I rarely leave reviews and I am a regular visitor to this lovely book store but on this occasion I felt extremely unwelcome. It was approximately 2 o clock and the cafe had multiple free tables and so when I sat down to write a birthday card I had just purchased downstairs I didn’t think it would be an issue. However, two workers in the cafe, one after the other approached me to ask when I will be purchasing a drink. The first rolled her eyes when I said I would order in a moment. Then the second woman approached me maybe 3 minutes later informing me I had 5 minutes left on the table if I don’t order. I was planning on purchasing my lunch in Waterstones but I left soon after this second interaction as I felt too uncomfortable to stay. If these women had spoke to me in a polite manner I may not be writing this review but they were both rude and unpleasant. I will not be returning anytime soon.

Abit of an essay but I was searching for a very specific sequel political/phycological/new history factual book today and after speaking to a member of staff Downstairs as I had zero clue where/how to navigate it’s where abouts. she searched the system and directed me to where it may be placed upstairs in the political section. After much searching with no luck I then approached the upstairs cash desk (which may I add was very busy but the employee made me and the queue comfortable with inform on the situation ) due to not being able to find the book I was looking to purchase and regardless of the queue a male employee helped me personally by find 1/3 of the specific book I was searching for through the sections of political and then stuck gold in new history.(from the help of his employee serving in the tills) Due to working in retail for 10+ years I was genuinely took back by the communication between staff to ensure the employee on the tillpoint was ok to handle to queue while the male employee helped me search for my specific book. He reassured the queue and the staff member that he would only be a moment and made my day by finding the sequel to a book I’ve been searching for. Honestly beyond any expectation of customer service I’ve ever received! I would highly recommend this store not only for its amazingly helpful staff but also for the sheer choice in store. Thankyou to the staff once again ! They genuinely deserve recognition if my situation is something they encounter frequently as it was handled with ease and an element of polite nature to waiting customers that is not a given in a lot of high street establishments.

If you like the smell of fresh books and coffee then Waterstones is the place to be. If you have children then it has a whole floor-almost-dedicated to children's books. Has nice little seating areas for your kids to get introduced to the beauty of a good book. Also has toilets next to the children's section which is very convenient. The coffee shop is a bit open plan. If you want to sit and have a quiet coffee with a book then then Waterstones fails to provide this-a missed opportunity-in my opinion. Overall a great experience for all you book worms. 5 stars from me!

Yes it's OK. I doubt anyone cares about reviews and they may very well be just a futile means of venting, but I do think one or two staff could benefit from being a little less 'clunky' and put more va voom into conversations they're having with customers who make queries. A bespectacled student girl was rather short with me when I asked an important question and did not care to embellish the conversation with any of the usual stock phrases we use on a daily basis to make the flow of conversation much er... Nicer. Such as 'thankyou', or 'OK, sorry about that.' it's the little things which make a huge difference. Also I would appreciate it if a certain cafe worker stopped pretending to be Basil Fawlty.

Went for afternoon tea on sat 5/10/24 as a group of 5adults 2children. We had been 2 yrs earlier and it was amazing with food served on little picnic benches. However: to my disappointment, this time - the sandwiches (ham and mustard which tasted spoiled, cheese and onion tasted mediocre, curry wrap very bland and capers on bruscetta which never have I ever been served at afternoon tea??? was vile) were curling a little as if they had been prepped the day before and not stored correctly. The cakes were standard if not basic. Due to this we ordered 2 sets of fries and later on asked for 2 more portions which were not delivered but which wrre added to the bill (which we asked for removal of). Onto the service...the staff were very friendly but considering we had unlimited tea... we had to ask twice for refills and were the only guests in the restaurant for an hour so unsure why staff were not more prompt to offer refill. The atmosphere made it as considering we were alone, they had a DJ and brazilian dancers on and the dancers welcomed my 4 yr old and were happy to chat to her and have photos taken. Unfortunately would not be going back as not worth £20 a head.
