The best coffee shop in Liverpool! Food and coffee both delicious. Decaff coffee is definitely the best we have foun..very hard to find! Cakes are amazing. Staff always super friendly.

Breakfast hash is awful, soggy, watery mess. Beetroot isn't fresh but pickled. Was like some type of feta soup accompanied with burnt toast.

I used to go semi regular for coffee and cake, I never never eaten a meal there before. Arrived with a friend, found a table, cups had beeen cleared but it was full of cold coffee and hadn't been wiped. As I have never eaten a meal there before so I asked at the counter if it was table service. The guy shook his head and grunted. I asked where the menus were and he pointed in the general direction and I went to find them. When I asked if he wasn't speaking he accused me of "losing my shit," and continued to berate me across the restaurant, even when I was back at the table reading the menu. At this point he was still having a pop, tall guy, fair. I'm not sure what he had been on the night before but was definitely a tetchy individual and there are too many places to get coffee, cake and breakfasts in that area with out having to put up with bad hospitality/service. Went to The Tavern. This fella needs a quiet word in his ear.

Great place , honestly one of the best breakfest creations I have had in a long time , went for a breakfest , coffee and a little snack to get a well round opening opinion lol nothing todo with eyes bigger than my belly . Supper friendly and fast staff which is always good in a pinch . Great little layout with room for all . Evan take your little ones , dogs I mean not children ha . Someone put door seating and windows seats in on watch the world guy buy one chilled Sunday .

This cafe is right next to Penny Lane so it gets crowded fast. We pretty much had to DIY to clean up the table and get the missing cutlery ourselves. Coffee was okay, nothing special. The soup was okay... though the grilled bread provided a nice touch to accompany it. The sausage roll on the other hand was great - lots of yummy filling.

We took a bus to penny lane to see the sights on the beatles song. Found this lovely coffee shop. We enjoyed it. The wife Audrey is from Gorton Manchester. She enjoyed the food. Good North of England food. Similar to where she grew up. We live in Ireland. I found it quite different to where I grew up in Ireland. We will be back in Liverpool and I would like to go back to this coffee shop

We were in Liverpool so had to see Penny Lane, and looked good a cafe for brunch. We got a soup, sausage roll and a sandwich. Plus coffee. Coffee okay but not great. The soup was good, the sandwich was tasty and then sausage roll was excellent!

Great find. The long black is an absolute fave, food is pretty good and cakes are awesome. Try their soda bread with soup. Delish. Not always the cleanest but vibe is nice. Seating a little strange, booths not comfy but I think they are expanding again so may improve. Staff are lovely.

The veggie breakfast was absolutely delicious. Love the alternative to black pudding and the home made baked beans were top notch

A nice coffee shop that I managed to escape to first thing on a Sunday morning. Nice fresh croissants, nice food, great service, nice tea, and a spot on coffee. I even purchased some of their Atkinson's prototype coffee beans to make at home.

I work from home so try to take myself out for a walk every day to break up the day. I love treating myself to a coffee at Bean There at either Smithdown Rd or Rose Lane. My only complaint is that they really need to stop having such delicious looking and tasting cakes as it really is NO good for my waistline. Most days I can resist. Today was not one of those days. The scone with cream and jam was DELICIOUS. Lovely welcoming staff.

This is a regular local for brunch, lunch, coffee and cake. Always a friendly welcome here with top quality food, really interesting menu, excellent coffee. Nice relaxed atmosphere too :)

Me and my friend received very rude customer service from one man in particular today at this coffe shop. They made the mistake of letting me pay for a tea spot saying it was fine to have 2 mugs and share with my friend. When I asked for a second mug they refused and said we weren’t allowed one and had to pay for another pot of tea for an extra mug. The lady that served me apologised and said it was her mistake. But a man intervened and was aggressive and rude stating to my friend that he wasn’t going to give us an extra mug- I don’t see how this would impact their business at all as its JUST a mug. I’ve been going to this coffe shop for almost two years to do university work and have never experienced anything like this. Considering the amount of money I’ve spent here the service today was unacceptable and I will be sure to pass this information on to any of my friends and fellow students as we won’t be returning.

I was extremely shocked and disgusted by the customer service this afternoon from one young gentlemen, I’d say mid 20’s with ginger hair. Me and my friend had already brought 2 coffees here and we are frequent customers who will now never be returning. We were told we could have a pot of tea with two cups, on two seperate occasions by two seperate members of staff. It cost £3.50. When the tea arrived we were no longer allowed this second cup and were told we had to buy another. When I said hi sorry I’m not trying to make a fuss but could you please accommodate what we were told originally, the gentleman responded completely unbothered, brief chat with a final sentence along the lines of “don’t know why you’re trying to argue with me, etc etc”. I said I would be leaving a tripadvisor review for the lack of respect and the member of staff then came up the table twice and started confrontational conversations from which me and my friend felt very uncomfortable and embarrassed. I’m not to sure how much the business would have suffered by giving a student an extra CUP, in comparison to how much business they are about to lose. STUDENTS AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I think it's overrated but my friend loves it so 🤷. I don't like the food that they serve but all of the bakery stuff that are on display are good.

Staff is very friendly and keeps the place really clean, I have never been in a cafe which allows dogs

£17 for 2 bacon on toast and 2 teas won't be visiting again.

My wife and I felt like coffee and cake for a late breakfast. She ordered a croissant and me the scone. Croissant was fresh and easy, scone was old, hard and frozen. Handed it back with less than a quarter eaten, very little reaction to the issue, paid and left. Extremely disappointing and would never recommend this place.

OMG, brought two cakes from the shop this morning and they are amazing, I had the lemon and raspberry and another tart type with pistachios and both are equally delicious. The cappuccino and hot chocolate were good, but the cakes are 😋

Food and coffee is excellent. Really friendly staff. The quicky vibe is a little outdated but worth coming just for a black americano coffee.

Fantastic place! I'm not sure how they do it, but their breakfast sandwiches are out of this world. Plus, they open at 8am, so it's the perfect place to catch up on emails and start the day off right!

This has been our local (although 6 miles away) now for many years. We love this place and the staff are always so friendly and helpful. The food is to die for, and it's the only place we can really get our coffee fix. We also re-homed a dog recently and have been bringing her with us, and she has a great time being fussed over by the staff. I'd definitely recommend the ham hock & cheese toastie, the full English breakfast and the breakfast buns. Used to be the House Hash but it's way too spicy for me now. My only negative is the toilets. Often they are quite yucky with urine on the floor/seat, so maybe they just need checking a bit more often! Also a tad on the pricey side, but you definitely get what you pay for!

Sorry guys, this wasn’t a good experience. I had a ham hock toast ie. I didn’t ask for a toastie but it was toasted. I left it. It really didn’t taste good at all. The cups tasted like they had been washed in a dirty dishwasher. I couldn’t drink the tea because of it.Sorry I won’t b back.

Un posto delizioso, tranquillo. Personale gentile anche se quel giorno avevano un problema. Scelta varia, caffè meglio che altrove. Soliti prezzi. Io ho preso una colazione e un americano (latte a parte, finalmente!), tutto ottimo. Vista sulla fermata bus più famosa del mondo, quella da cui Paul McCartney vedeva la vita aspettando il bus per la scuola, e che poi ha descritto in Penny Lane.

I go here pretty much everyday. It's the best coffee I have found in Liverpool. The staff are both extremely friendly and extremely knowledgeable when it comes to coffee. You can buy coffee to go and it's delicious or coffee beans to take home which the staff will kindly grind for you to your specifications. Lovely place!

Been regular here since moving to Liverpool 12 months ago. Visit few times week. Prime location, good decor, great vibe. Dog friendly, pram friendly, laptop friendly and it is nice space of 2 big but very different rooms. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Coffee, cakes and food is best in area by some margin. Prices are fair, portions generous and taste sublime. Highly recommend house hash dish, stunning balance of flavours and very unique dish. Big breakfast is excellent too with their own spin on this classic dish.

I cannot give this beautiful place enough praise and credit!! Gorgeous staff. Always chatty friendly. Very caring. They create a great atmosphere. I always leave uplifted. Great Banter. What a wonderful cafe, the staff are incredibly friendly and the cafe is clean and well maintained. There was a great range of drinks including a very delicious dark 70% hot chocolate!

Despite being an excellent location and delightful looking café, have been dissapointed both times I went here. On the first occasion, the staff forget about my order and I had to go up three times to remind them. The food I ordered was delicous and I have to give them that! However, my hot drink didn't end up coming until after we had all eaten, which wasn't ideal at all. And on my second visit I asked if I could work for a few hours in the corner (after buying food and a coffee) and the girl said 'only if you don't take the p*ss'. This comment made me feel so uncomfortable, I wanted to leave immediately after that. But I did stay for an hour and purchased more drinks to prove I wasn't just there for the WiFi. Sadly, I won't be returning again. It's a huge shame because the food and coffee are both great but the service is appalling.

Incredibly friendly people and food so wonderful I made sure to visit twice on my trip to Liverpool. The vegetarian sausage roll with cauliflower and the plant ball toastie are some of the best things I’ve eaten in recent memory and the coffee is excellent as well. The sausage roll was for takeaway and they very kindly put a condiment in a container so I could easily have everything for my picnic.

I was very disappointed in our visit yesterday and don't normally have to complain about this cafe or it's service. My husband and I have been going to Bean There For Years. Yesterday we visited for the first time for a few weeks as I haven't been too well. It's always friendly but something was off on this visit. We got a table after a few moments as it was busy and ordered at the counter as usual. At first we just ordered a cake and coffee, both delicious but decided we wanted something more substantial. I asked could they do a plain ham and cheese sandwich and a plain cheese sandwich, no salad on or with them and nothing else on them just ham and cheese, nothing else and cheese, nothing else? The lady behind the counter said no problem, she just needs to check the bread. That was fine, so we paid and ordered 2 more coffees and waited 15 mins for our sandwiches which is not unusual as they are made fresh. However, the sandwich I got was wrong. It wasn't plain ham and cheese, it tasted funny. I opened it up and saw the red onions and some kind of sauce. It wasn't plain. It actually had cannibalised onions on it and spinach. It was very sharp tasting so she agreed to change it. I asked for plain cheese. No problem. But my husband's arrived and was ham and not cheese and he has allergies. To me plain ham and cheese is just that plain ham and cheese. I had to send his back as it was wrong. A few moments later a cheese one arrived for me, which was obviously his. Then the young waitor confused things by asking when did he order it and saying it takes time to make a sandwich. Excuse me! We have waited now over 20 mins for 2 incorrect sandwiches. The girl didn't take responsibility for my ham and cheese being incorrect. She went on about hog ham. I know what type of ham they do after several years as a customer thank you. That doesn't excuse it having cannibalised onions on it and spinach when I asked for plain ham and cheese, nothing else on it or with it. I have allergies as well. Plain ham and cheese, nothing else seems easy enough to do to me. The waiter then tried to blame us for their mistake. I just said, never mind, just can you please just bring a plain cheese instead. Eventually 5 minutes later the second plain cheese arrived and we settled down and enjoyed our sandwiches. We also enjoyed another coffee. However, I think the sandwich could have just been changed with no fuss and no argument. Never had this problem before which is why I was disappointed. Will we return? Yes. At the end of the day, miscommunication happens. It's just we had been looking forward to going there and it could have been much better had they just written it down and listened. Also please don't blame a regular customer for your mistake. Mistakes happen. Just apologise and put it right.

Popped in for an Americano and an Iced oat milk matcha latte to go. Two people serving were friendly, had the gift of the gab promoting their fab baked goods but weren't pushy, which I appreciate a lot. They did have a wonderful looking selection but we just stuck with the drinks. Next time, though :)

Quite a trendy place,we fitted in very well......popular with the more gentile local residents. Service was quite slow, the coffee and tea were very nice, a tad expensive but you gets what you pay for....

I only visited for the first time today with a friend, they recommended. I really loved the vibe. It brought back memories of my day's spent down in Covent Garden, Neils Yard. Really hip, trendy, chilled vibe. Great tasting coffee, I didn't know they did food so would love to try that sometime. Very popular place indeed.

We walked in, asked for a table was told to just sit down wherever. Sat down, waited a while, no one came over. Went over to the counter and saw 3 guys with zero service skills, no interaction, no instructions about how to order, is it table service or order at counter etc. Asked for a menu, told to just get one myself from on the counter. (This was a weekday so pretty quiet). Asked for an allergy menu, all three just shrugged and said we don’t have one. I said that Restaurants have a requirement to provide allergy info to customers, i was just told to “order something vegan”. Explained I’m not vegan, I have a food allergy. I can still eat meat, they wernt remotely bothered and just said order a vegan item . Walked out and went to “Leaf” a few doors down and was the complete opposite. Actual service, great food and lovely atmosphere. Don’t waste your time here.

I used to really like this place but it’s really gone downhill since changing management a couple of years ago. It’s a common experience to be ignored when trying to order at the counter, even when there are 4 or 5 staff members behind it. The service is slow and feckless, and they don’t keep on top of basic things like wiping down tables after use. I don’t know how it’s viable to have so many staff on and get so little done. If they don’t shape up I can see them closing within a couple of years. It’s a shame, because the coffee and food are very good.

Used to enjoy it here as they serve decent coffee and have a nice selection of cakes, lovely sausage rolls but prices have increased (understand this is everywhere) but inside is grubby now and staff really not interested in keeping on top of cleanliness, toilet was dirty too. General service was poor, staff chatting with each other, ignoring customers and generally unwelcoming. Unlikely to return after recent visit and it was cold too, not enjoyable.
