Cafe Two Shades in Colchester

Service is shocking. Server was too busy on his phone to take our order and then they took forever to bring our food, with people who ordered after us being served before us. I think they simply forgot about us. The food, when eventually served, was nice.

I wanted to try the street food and as I don’t expect to ever go to India this was a great way to experiment. My husband and I had a Frankie each and a samosa. It was delicious. The samosa was so much nicer than I had ever had before. I also had a ginger chai. It was lovely. Bit of a wait but I would rather wait and have something good. It’s not a restaurant but a great place to get a lunch. We will go back.

There are lots of options on the menu, including Indian street food, paninis, burgers and breakfasts. I had a vegetarian breakfast and it was really tasty and not at all greasy! I gave 4 stars as we had to wait for ages for our food!

Absolutely beautiful food. I only went for the single breakfast 1 of everything with an extra slice of bacon, very clean breakfast ok value for money but you get what you pay for. My partner had breakfast wrap. Really good. And the hot drinks faultless. Will definitely come again !!

Our first visit and we absolutely loved it! Great decor, wonderful food - we especially loved the Indian Street Food as we tried things we had never had before. Oh and the service was good too. Keep doing what you are doing. We will be back!

I have been visiting this very friendly little cafe frequently, with friends; on my own; and most importantly, with family including my discerning young grandchildren. I adore Italian gelatti, and was so delighted to find a wide range here in the middle of Colchester. From my very first visit I have always had difficulty deciding which flavours to choose, as each seems addictive for me. I usually go for two scoops, either of complementary flavours: Dark chocolate and Coffee, or eg: Forest Berries sorbet, these being my current favourites! Earlier this year a delicious Blood Orange sorbet enticed me back repeatedly. My young grandchildren both adore their visits whenever staying in Colchester, declaring "Granny, this is the best ice-cream EVER!!!"

Absolutely awful overpriced ice cream , melted and unpleasant, unpleasant staff shoddy service, avoid this place far better cafés close by Minus Stars

Stopped here for the gelato in the window, very poor quality tasted like soft scoop and such small portions for £2.50 a scoop almost told them to shove it but my wife had already had some of hers

The cafe has never disappointed but yesterday while there with friends, we ordered £40 worth of food and beverages. All was good however when we told the server that it was my friends birthday they quickly organised a chocolate orange cake with a candle etc. very nice but when we went to pay our total bill, we saw that the cake was also added even though we hadn’t ordered it! We paid for the full bill but wil the owners please take note- we shouldn’t have to pay for something we didn’t order!

Ordered the most basic and quickest thing possible but took ages. Went to ask again but got bad attitude and completely ignored. Wouldn’t be revisiting any time soon. Appalling!

Ria, showed wonderful customer service and made me smile multiple times, wish people were as friendly and welcoming as her. Would recommend to anyone, would come again, lovely atmosphere. All in all, this is a great place.

Me and my boyfriend found this place when we were exploring and we're soo amazed by all the delicious looking ice creams in the window and we said we need to go here! We went yesterday and oh my goodness it was sooooo good, my boyfriend had the salted caramel milkshake which he absolutely loved, it was really thick and tasty. I had an extremely soft waffle lolly with white chocolate and marshmallows and baileys ice cream and it was heavenly. If you have time and you are in Colchester then visit this place, it's a gem.

This place is a real gem. Been several times now and everything is too notch plus such amazing value. Only place we eat now when doing shopping in town. Highly recommend!

We stopped unexpectedly for lunch on the way back to the car. Beautiful Indian food, highly recommend the Chicken Frankie which we were told was a North Indian street food. So good we ordered another one! We also tried a couple of other bits and they were just as good. Definitely worth a stop and will come back.

Popped in on a Sunday for some brunch and went for the Indian street food. It was amazing! Great flavours and quick, lovely service. If you are a fan of Indian cuisine PLEASE go and support these guys, you won’t be disappointed.

Came here for a lovely cup of coffee. Good friendly service. Will come back for an ice cream when the weather gets warmer. Waffles look tasty as well

Lovely people run this cafe. It has a cosy, laid-back atmosphere and the English breakfast is great. My 5-year-old loved it there.

This place serves authentic Indian street food,along with British and American food. Absolutely delicious food 😋. Panipuri is mouthwatering and mango mastani is just so tempting. They have got amazing menu even suitable for vegetarians. In love with the place.
