I have been here a number of times, but not for a while. Under new management. I had a chicken, pesto and mozzarella panini. This was served with a side salad, homemade coleslaw and some crisps. My mum had a tuna mayo and cucumber sandwich also served with a side salad, coleslaw and crisps. Both plates of food came up well presented .. The 2 lady’s that are running the cafe now are friendly and welcoming.. Good service, and nice food so will definitely recommend to friends, and we will definitely be going back ...

Delicious cream cheese and salmon sandwiches. As you can see, they do not scrimp on the fillings. My husband had mushroom omelette, chips and salad. (The coleslaw is homemade!) My daughter had a lot of trouble deciding but went for the ham, egg and chips in the end. We eat it all. This cafe is under new management but the service is as efficient and friendly as before. Looking forward to our next visit, which will not be too long away.

My friend and I go here on a weekday morning, just for a coffee and a catch up with each other. We are always welcomed pleasantly, and they don't seem to mind at all that we don't want anything to eat. We never feel rushed. Lovely atmosphere, we must stay longer another time and try lunch - the food we see served looks delicious.

Took the family here today, never even knew it existed but well worth the trip. All four of us had Breakfasts ranging from the largest (mine!) to eggs on toast, all with drinks for just over £25.00 - considering I pay £20 at Mac D's this was excellent. Staff were very pleasant, and the food amazing. The Toast and fried bread comes on Chunky Bread, white or brown - and you will not leave there still hungry. Excellent menue, spotless tables, all round a great experience. Defo back again soon

I regularly visit alone or with friends. Matt and his team are always friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them. Food is great with good portion sizes and salad/coleslaw where appropriate. Good value for money. In a great location for the summer when you can sit outside in the covered arcade area which is a lovely sun trap or in the winter when I often take my dog for a walk into town, where we have a rest and it's sheltered she's given water by the staff or sit inside in the warm (without dog).As for the toilet. I usually ask for the key and is cleaner than most public toilets I have been in!Highly recommended by myself and my friends.

My wife and I visited for breakfast a few months ago. I ordered a full breakfast which included hash browns. When the food arrived there were no hash browns so I enquired and was advised that there were none left. I asked why they just assumed this was acceptable and gave me this breakfast without them as I would have likely ordered something else like eggs benedict? They were unresponsive and I advised the staff that i would expect a reduction in the bill as a direct result of not being served what I had ordered. The alleged manager refused to amend the total at first but eventually took the grand sum of 50p off the bill! I was disgusted with his attitude and, whilst the food was of a good quality over all, I shall never set foot in this place again.

Friend took me here for lunch two weeks ago. Despite having lived in this area for over 30 years, I had no idea this place existed.Had some extremely nice pâte with some lovely granary toast and onion marmalade. Friend had a giant stuffed mushroom, looked lovely and she said she enjoyed it. Friendly helpful service.Only concern is the toilet facilities. These are in the arcade itself and for the use of all the businesses located there, their customers and anyone passing who happens to know of their existence. They were adequate on the day in question, toilet flushed, there was paper and soap. No drying facility. No chart to indicate how often cleaning takes place. I really would like to think that Cafe Tiere has its own facilities. If not, I would be very unhappy to think that my food was prepared by staff who may possibly have, in my view, inadequate washing facilities. Really sorry to have to write this because I enjoyed my lunch.Do I recommend? No, but only for reason above. Will I go back? No, for same reason.

Don't be fooled by the french Malaky, nothing about this place if French apart from the music. I went to this cafe, thinking that it would be a nice change in Rayleigh... Although when we got there we ordered the food and drink we wanted and had to wait 45 minutes for our food to arrive. My Nan had ordered a sandwich, which took 45 minutes, you would usually get a sandwich in 5 minutes! After the long wait, me and my Nan and sister were all so STARVING only to find that our food was horrid and made us all feel sick!My advice to you is not to visit this awful excuse for a French Cafe...

This was previously the lovely Coles Vintage Tea Rooms, which I had visited several times because the food, atmosphere and everything about it was excellent. However, I decided to give the new Cafe-tiere a go, so went along for lunch with my lovely daughter-in-law and two teenage granddaughters. The surroundings did not even compare to the warmth that was Coles. We placed our order for drinks and food. After a long wait the drinks arrived, but not all at the same time. Four meals had been ordered. Not complicated, just one omelette and three paninis. Another long wait the omelette arrived and had to be started and eaten rather than let it go cold. I had ordered cheese and tomato, but the tomato was non-existent, just a cheese omelette. Some time later two paninis arrived. Not the best in content or presentation. After waiting a while longer we asked where was the third one and were told there had been a mix up with the order and it would be done soon. After another long wait we decided that it wasn't really worth waiting for, so we left the money on the table and departed. During our time there we could hear two other customers saying they couldn't wait any longer after having had only one of their meals delivered of two that were ordered so it seems we weren't the only dissatisfied customers. It was exactly overcrowded so I dread to think how they would have coped with a full house! We will definitely not be going there again. If zero was an option that would be my score.

Went with my mum and 7 month old son. We sat outside as it was a lovely day. The waitress was lovely and very polite and helpful. Food was lovely. I went to pay and the guy who I presumed was the owner said hang on I need to look at the menu to add the prices...not a problem until he tells me how much I pay and as I start pushing my baby out he comes storming over saying "I knew that was too cheap you've not paid enough"! Now in our opinion he should have said "I'm really sorry but I've under charged you" not speak to me like I was trying to steal from him. In front of other diners too. I don't look at the menu and calculate how much it will cost me so I trusted in his judgement especially as he told me how much it was and actually said "yeah that sounds about right". Quite rude and not necessary, he could have gone about it in a much politer way. Such a shame as we spent all lunch complimenting how nice the food was and how it has changed, left feeling disappointed and offended!

The café is situated in Berrys arcade which has outdoor seating which is perfect for dog lovers and disabled people. Disabled access is good, and the café is child friendly, the only downsize is there are no toilets, there are some In the Rayleigh Mill which is situated nearly opposite the arcade.,

We have walked passed the cafe quite a few time and today decided to have a full English breakfast as a treat, what a mistake! We were the only customers in when we ordered our breakfasts, I ordered a light breakfast and my husband a large breakfast. Our drinks arrived very quickly and we settled in to wait for our food order, as it was being cooked to order we expected a wait . My breakfast arrived first and looked very nice, however when my husbands breakfast arrived it was minus both the fried slice and hash brown which was supposed to be part of his meal. We waited, meanwhile mine was getting cold, eventually my husband had to go and enquire about the rest of his meal. He was met with a pretty indifferent response just shrugged shoulders, the serving boy had forgotten, he eventually brought to the table what he thermed fried slice, I have never before seen fried slice made with doorstep sized slices of bread, obviously it was raw bread in the middle and unacceptable, the hash brow followed two minuets later and was barely cooked!! When we argued that the fried slice was not right he was very surely and said his grandparents always cooked it that way. Needless to say we won't be returning!!!!

Cafe-Tiere is a gem hidden in Berrys arcade and the reason I'm putting a review is because its one of those hidden places that everyone should know about. The food. With a menu that caters for everyone you really won't be disappointed. You need to try the breakfast at least once, even if you're not a breakfast person. Everything is perfectly cooked and the sausages are the best you'll ever taste. Lunch menu has plenty to chose from so you can have home made soup or quiche. Sandwiches made with fresh cut bread, paninis made with proper ciabatta bread, jackets cooked to perfection, ploughmans and salads, home made pate that's to die for. The list goes on and everything is very reasonably priced! The drinks.Tea, coffee, latte, cappuccino and the best ever hot chocolate. Fizzy drinks and a large selection of fruit juices. Milk shakes too, try the vanilla it is outstanding! The staff.Very professional, friendly and very hard working. They're smartly dressed and will do all they can to give you a good service. The Cafe.Starting off as one little shop this cafe has expanded not once but twice in the 2 years since it opened. A testament to the pride, hard work and commitment of its owner! At lunch times this place can get packed very quickly so you may have to wait longer for your food but trust me its well worth the wait!

On top of that the croissants were not that great, rather than the large "fluffy" type they looked like the ones you get from a can in the chilled section. Had passed this place a few times and decided to give it a go on Saturday. My husband and I ordered a pot of tea and a couple of toasted sandwiches. The pot of tea took 15 minutes to arrive and turned out to be only half full so maybe should have said half a pot on the menu. The staff all looked like miserable teenagers. We waited 45 mins for two toasted sandwiches that were dry (no butter) we were just about to leave when they finally arrived. One cook in the kitchen meant long delays - he could barely cope and there were only 3 other tables of customers. Overall we were very disappointed. Not sure why we were given lemon wedges with our sandwiches ? Sorry for negative review but the owner needs to shake his staff up and teach them how to smile and be friendly - our female waitress was so miserable. And get the cook some help !

I was very sceptical the first time I walked through the doors. The place was very small - only about twelve covers indoors plus another half dozen outside - but when I ordered I was very pleasantly surprised. The service was fast, the drinks were hot and the food well cooked, well presented and very flavoursome. Nothing was over seasoned - a huge plus in my books! The owner, Matt, was charming and helpful whilst, all the time, remaining completely professional. Everyone in the cafe at the same time seemed to be having just as good a time as we were. Some months later I revisited. I found that the eating area had been extended and the menu increased. This is a venue that definitely deserves to grow and I will certainly be returning when I am in the area.

Cafe-Tierre opened its doors in the evening for a birthday celebration. Dinner for 10. Food was excellent, service was excellent and everyone had a great time. I use this cafe daily and when I told Matt, the owner, I had to book somewhere for 10 the following evening, he said he could do that. I put my trust in him, he had to cater for vegetarians as well, and I was 100% impressed with the outcome. My guests were also very impressed and I would definately use this facility again. Anyone wanting a small dinner party, without the hassle of catering yourself, go to Cafe-Tierre, good value for money and excellent food. My four grandchildren came as well, aged between 2 and 15, the two year old said "it's the best food I have ever had".

If you love the 'little cafe' atmosphere, wonderful home cooked food, friendly and attentive service and don't want to pay through the nose for it, this is the place in Rayleigh for you to eat. The menu ranges from wonderful,( non greasy ) breakfasts, to excellent freshly cooked lunches and soups and scrummy home baked cakes - and the hot chocolates with all the trimmings are simply divine! The prices are reasonable to say the very least and this does not mean you have small portions, just that you are not being ripped off! Nothing is too much trouble (my two boys regularly design their own breakfasts from the menu!!) In my opinion, and I worked in catering for many years, this is simply the best cafe in Rayleigh. For lunch with friends it is the best - for taking the kids out it is the best... try it - you really won't be disappointed and your first visit will not be your last!!

If you have ever been to Belgium and fallen in love with one of their beautiful little cafes then you have to visit cafe-tiere! Good quality home made food at a very affordable price. The home made cakes are to die for and if you're one of those people that likes a good English breakfast then you have to try this place, the sausages are out of this world.

Have visted this cosy little cafe 3 times since discovering it 2 weeks ago. Lovely home-made food which is excellent value. Coffee and a slice of cake (plenty of choice) is only £2.75. This is just what Rayleigh needs. Much rather eat here than the 'chains'. Also does takeaways.

Really sad this place has gone downhill! from tonights experience I will never return I have enjoyed this place over the years but tonight absolutely appalled from the quality of the food and the size of the portions were disappointing considering it was meant ti be the larger option. generally shocked at the state of the food the chicken was equivalent of tinned boiled chicken no flavour at all and when asked how our meals are and we responded that they was actually not very nice and small we was just quickly told sorry about that then the waiter just scurried off without saying anything more

Low ceilings and beams. Not the most ebullient of welcomes and lots of mumbling. The menu is impressive, lots of choice. I ordered the Chicken, Ham and Leek pie and the wife ordered the Steak and Ale pie. The shortcrust pastry on both pies was dry. There was something odd tasting about the mash. Couldn't put my finger on it. It was lunch, it was ok for a pit stop but I wouldn't rush back.

I have been here 3 times since it was reopened and the food never ceases to amaze me. A great chef, I must say. As for the staff, they were very friendly and welcoming. A lovely place for a drink and a chat but if you do go please try the food as you will not be disappointed. I have read other reviews and some people have said it's a bit pricey but you get what you pay for.
