Great pub, great staff and definitely the only place to go in Rayleigh.

Despite the best eneavors of staff and management. Marstons has chosen yet again to increase prices, as they have repeatedly since taking control if this establishment. This time at between 6.5 and 7% Remarkable in today climate!

Went to see a band. Place was banged out. Great vibe. Bar service good considering it was very busy..

Hotdog definitely not worth the price. Tasty sausage but overcooked fries and hotdog roll hard on the bottom so left half of it. Even if all ok it's not worth that price for a snack

Come in on a busy Saturday night! Staff were exceptionally busy! But were nice and friendly and greeted us with a smile…… we ask what drinks deals were available and staff were attentive and helpful! They have great entertainment from bands and singers on a weekend! Great place to meet up with friends highly recommended!!

Ye olde crown is a little gem in the middle of Rayleigh highstreet. Great music and great deals on drinks! Staff were so friendly and helpful… looking forward to coming back for food next time.

We have been here several times now for drinks and to eat an evening meal. We attended this evening to make most of the voucher we'd received in the post. I would say it isn't the best place to eat but not the worst either. For instance the interior needs a refurbishment as a lot of the furnishings are old and tatty. The tables are always sticky and the flooring at times feels crunchy. Like I said its nice enough but there are nicer places in the high street to eat and probably don't charge as much either..it cost us nearly £10 for a pint if Pepsi Max and beer. That almost cost the amount for the meal! The voucher barely touched the price. When we ordered at rhe bar we were told the chef was on his break and needed to come back in 10 minutes. Of course staff members are entitled to a break and the pub wasn't that busy but it annoyed as we arrived at half 6 and could have had longer before paying in the car park before it is free. The meal was nice when it arrived though - the chips were yummy!

We had never been to Ye Olde Crown before and due to the events that occured in Southend, we wanted a change of scenery. We had a leaflet though the door offering 30% of mains, so we decided to give it a try for our date night (even though I forgot the voucher 😅). It is a nice, small pub with friendly staff and a good selection of food and drinks at a reasonable price. The music was to our taste (we are 28 and 29) which we were surprised at but thoroughly enjoyed. There was a small incident with a group but it was handled quickly by staff and doormen and dispersed quickly. This did not put us off coming back as we feel it was handled very well. We ordered out first drinks at the bar then ordered food and the rest of our drinks via the app which was easy to navigate. The only thing I would comment on is that on the app is says closes at 23.00, so I thought that meant for food as well so I waited till gone half 9 to try and order something to soak up the alcohol but found I could no longer order. My fault, I should have checked with staff, but it didn't specify on the menu or app when the kitchen closes. However, I look forward to trying the food next time and the burger my partner ordered, he thoroughly enjoyed.

Great friendly pub and the food is lovely

Was there tonight and they had karaoke. It was great. The door staff were very welcoming and having a laugh with everyone, it was busy but the bar staff did an amazing job and was serving everyone quickly and will definitely be back soon. Bet place to go on a night out in Rayleigh

Love coming to Ye olde Crown! Staff are always friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere on weekends, with live entertainment on the last weekend of the month. And topping off they have really good prices on beer, a great place to come to with friends and family.

The hot maple wings are delicious. Good selection of beers friendly staff clean bogs can't ask for too much more from a boozer

Great pub. Very much like the lay out of the place. 👍🏻 Today was an England game and we won, but the staff all helped. Service was fantastic, either via the bar or the bar code app. Even when there isn't a game on the staff are brilliant 👏🏻. Lovely pub. Good clients, here and there, but most. Had lunch with a friend. Food lovely and it's a friendly pub. Cherrelle, Jason and Jazz are so helpful, efficient and always a have a smile.

Spent an hour in this authentic, British Pub on a wet Friday afternoon in Rayleigh, bar staff quick to serve and friendly,plenty of table and chair space I sat in area behind bar,regulars gathered and watching horse racing on TV did not feel out of place and a far superior experience to the Weatherspoon type of pub with high stools and the space the size of a barn and often totally souless Recommended Boozer

We play a lot of pubs and are always made welcome here. The beer is really good and the crowd are always up for a good time!

Come her for lunch with friends on Wednesday, staff were so busy totally rushed off there feet, Was greeted with a smile and a nice friendly welcome! Food was lovely I had the ultimate southern fried chicken burger was presented lovely and was pipping hot! Was served quickly considering the staff were under immense pressure, drinks reasonably priced as was the food! Lovely atmosphere! Will be back!

Very loud on a Saturday night, however the service is quick with a smile. Props to the staff for being able to cope with a busy night without being stressed or in a bad mood! Staff were also super helpful when the tampon dispenser didn’t work, searching around to find me period products so I could continue my night! 10/10 service.

Fantastic spot, Great for pool. As I’ve just moved here I’ll be here most weekends! The bar staff were great, the pool table was in a good location espically with being able to order to your table.

Great little local oldest pub in Rayleigh

Pleased to see it busy but every table was full of empty glasses. I was served a very flat Diet Coke I was told there was plenty of gas so nothing to be done. Assuming she had checked gas and poured me another I took another sip and it was still flat. I asked for a bottle of coke instead and aft a long wait she came back and said she could do me another, which was also flat. At that point I realised the first one had never been changed so my partner drank up and we left. A lot of fuss for a soft drink!

Went here one saturday, was very busy but with a good atmosphere - reasonably priced drinks with a nice cocktail offer that we took advantage of! Staff were friendly and helpful.

Came In for lunch with my family, been here before and know there is a variety of choices to suit everyone. Food was served quickly and very tasty. Staff were great, very helpful & welcoming.

Superb pub!!! It’s my go to venue when I am in Rayleigh- the staff are second to none. The landlady knows her stuff and is so friendly and a great host! She’s a credit to all publicans! All generally good, just last bell at 9pm Sunday, Monday, just a little early as several people still drinking.

Brilliant pub. Staff are always so friendly & chatty. Came in with my friends for a night Out Out & they made sure we knew all about the drink offers available & were so friendly. Other pubs in the area, arnt nearly so helpful & they always remembered our preferences.

This place has become a regular stop when out for the weekend with friends, lovely staff that you can have a laugh with and great atmosphere of an evening, not expensive and they do deals on drinks too which is always a bonus! Only improvement would be how hot it can get in there which can get uncomfortable at times.

Always the one place I love to meet my friends for a drink or two. The staff are always lovely, the drinks are affordable & the offers they currently have are brilliant. Feels like a ‘Tailer Made’ service. Atmosphere is always on point & there’s just a lovely feel to the place. Never disappoints.

First impression, Friendly Beer, lovely Food, Indian meal small portions yet enough for my mum n partner of 83yrs, gammon under cooked sent back, offered to redo but took so long the others were finishing their meal so got money back, know problem. Shame it spoilt our time out together.

Popped into the pub for some food and drinks with a group of friends, the bar staff were very friendly and accommodating, the food was lovely and the pub had a lovely atmosphere, would 100% recommend to others.

Meal was very nice, ordering on the app was very limiting with wines choice which was very disappointing my friend wanted ice cream but ordered the trifle cheese on receipt of it she asked if they could of done just vanilla ice cream as the puddings were all chocolate based of which she doesn’t like the lady said they unfortunately do not do ice cream but would mention it as an option….for first time ever going there I enjoyed the meal. Also the tables had a QR code on for ordering but none of the tables had numbers so my friend had to go to the bar to ask as my mobility is limited would be happy to go again but because of ordering via code was limited may have to order at the bar

Food was ok, but I asked for just a glass of milk, was told no don’t do milk , but have a coffee machine, so shortly, cod have gave a milk , but no, as most pubs with coffee machines, would say yes even if it’s not on the menu, so won’t be going back

Excellent atmosphere & affable staff

Absolutely lovely Pub. Went out for drinks with my friends for a Birthday Night Out & we were so looked after. The atmosphere was so nice to be in, the Staff were exceptional & you rarely had to wait til one of them was chatting away to you & pouring your order. Lots of banter between the staff & us customers. Great Pub.

Lively friendly traditional pub

Been coming here for a few years now & I have to say - it just seems to improve each time. The Staff are always so happy & chatty. They can never do enough for you. They all greet people as they walk in if they can & even if they’re completely heaving & in a stressful environment, they laugh together & make the customers feel welcome. Top Staff & Top Service.

Went in at the weekend, even in January the place has a good atmosphere. The staff were lovely and very welcoming, they are now doing order at the table which i think is a great update and some good deals on spirits too! Will definitely...

My mates and I went there for our Christmas get together,the food,the service and the friendliness of the staff was excellent,we had a great afternoon,will definitely recommend to friends,thank you.

Been eating here every visit to Rayleigh high Street over the last 10 years. Today they were catering for a table of 7 people. I hope they paid enough to cover the loss of anyone else not being able to order food ??!! But we were told to wait 20 mins as their kitchen can't cope with any other orders yet fair enough.. then we ordered more drinks and put money on the car park ticket... waited again another 30 mins.. asked again told would be even longer another 30 mins. At that we left and will never go again. Kept waiting on the promise of food to keep spending on drinks is disgusting service! Why not take down the table menus if food is not available. 7 people all eating the same xmas meal surely can't be too taxing the throw some chips in a flyer and empty apology is just that !

UPDATE: All the social distancing stuff has gone. All back to normal now (whatever that is). Still good beers and friendly staff. Pub boundaries have all changed since lockdown 2020. Hand sanitiser on the way in, social distancing at the bar and lounge. One way systems. All very strange. Staff are very friendly and chatty. Good selection of ales and lager at reasonable prices. We sat outside in the recently revamped beer garden so had to go right around the pub to get another beer. But nice to be able to socialise with friends

Favourite Pub in Rayleigh. The Staff are friendly & know how to laugh with their customers. Always feel welcome & like they enjoy their work. Never have to wait long to get served which is a big plus in my book! Couldn’t recommend enough.
