Cafe Strange Brew in Glasgow City

This is a great brunch spot/local cafe. Interesting choice of main courses but their bacon rolls are so good it's usually what I order! That and the best late while on the southside makes this a must visit. It's great value too - the only problem is getting a seat, it's usually stowed and they don't take bookings

First class. Staff are all lovely and very attentive and the food is just wow. We had pancakes and they were officially the best we have had. Freshly made with the most amazing toppings. Will definitely go back and recommend you do too..

I ventured here after being recommended the place as the perfect venue to fill you up for the day. And it definitely did that. Situated in the heart of Shawlands it’s well in tune with the vibrant indie scene of the neighbourhood, trendy without being pretentious. It’s also dog friendly as well. Tables are well spaced out so you don’t get the feeling of being over crowded when it’s busy which it tends to be. Staff are great, showing a genuine interest in the cafes new visitors and regulars. The food is excellent. I went for the Stornoway Stack which consists of black pudding, bacon, tattie scones, poached eggs and chilli jam with sourdough toast. I couldn’t fault it. There was enough to keep me full for most of the day despite having it in the morning. It was all washed down with a flat white coffee which hit the spot. With the perfect mix of style and substance there’s nothing strange about this cafe.

The staff are really welcoming and made loads of helpful recommendations. The food was brilliant. We had the Stornaway stack and the Nutella pancakes and both were gorgeous.

Believe the hype. A wee wait for a table but it was well worth it. Superb brunch. Lovely coffee. Friendly staff. What more could you ask for?

We were visiting Glasgow for the cycling championships and this cafe came highly recommended several times. It’s a busy wee place and that is no accident. Customer base is a mixed bag, and menu items to suit every budget. Food was plentiful and a fair price point. Staff were very efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. My only complaint is it is quite noisy, but not really a complaint as there is virtually nothing they can do about that, as I said, it’s a very busy place filled with the sounds of happy chatter. Coffee was great and managed to purchase a bag of the coffee they use which upon research is a glasgow ethical roster.

Wow what a lovely start to the day. Full of chatter and morning hellos. We were welcomed into the cafe and shown to a free seat. With drinks ordered we were left to digest the menu and specials. I had to have the buffalo mozzarello peaches and ham in a wonderful salad , every mouthful was delightful. Husband a wonderful Bacon delux with eggs and fried potatoes. After the reviews, I was expecting a bit more from this cafe. It was nice but more average than expected. The cafe was quite small and right on the main road so there wasn't a lot of atmosphere. The food was fine but not the breakfast/lunch in Glasgow.

A lovely brunch served by fantastic staff. Particularly Beth and Lea were wonderful and attentive. We can recommend the pancakes and we were happy to wait for a table.

Staying in Glasgow for the cycling World Championships, we visited Cafe Strange Brew twice on consecutive breakfast times. That alone tells you most of what you need to know. I had a special on the first visit with pastrami, pickles and sauerkraut on toast with poached eggs and the most complimentary tasting sauce. For the second visit, I ordered their staple Stornoway Stack with two generous slices of black pudding and it was delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive too.

A small cafe so expect to wait for a table but it's worth it. The coffee is excellent. The food is fabulous - come hungry, portions are big. Service was great. Exceptionally well priced. We will be back.
