Wonderful atmosphere as soon as you step in the door. We were met with beautiful aromas and wonderful decor to take in while you wait. We came in for coffee, cake and ice-cream which were all delicious. You can sit-in or take-away, there is also a lovely seating area outside too. The staff done an incredible job in such a busy environment, they are welcoming and efficient. This place is definitely worth a visit if you are in Bonnie Balmaha!!

Would have scored lower, but to be fair the coffee and traybakes were delicious. However, the service was abysmal! When we (eventually) got served, we were given our cakes and told there would be a few minutes wait for our coffees - no problem there as it was very busy. We actually waited 22 minutes for a black coffee and an espresso , however the long wait became comical, as we witnessed so many errors with orders whilst we waited. A lady received her coffees just after we had ordered and enquired about her bacon rolls and was told they’re just coming : she eventually received them after we had waited our 22 minutes and gone outside and finished our coffee and cake! That poor woman waited 35 minutes after receiving her coffees (not after ordering!) Another man received his food order and his dining partner received his 10 minutes later. Another man brought his pies back as they were stone cold in the middle (really concerning that a temperature probe wasn’t used). Another (at least) 3 parties either got the wrong coffees or no milk. When we received our coffees, there was no milk in the Americano as requested and when I asked the guy who made the coffees if I could have some he seemed really annoyed that I was asking him (tall guy with beard/stubble and his underwear and backside hanging out). He was really snappy and rude and at the end of the day, wasn’t my mistake. The staff in general just weren’t coping with volume of orders and the whole place was just chaos - not a great vibe! Also didn’t like the fact that the staff behind the counter and serving food weren’t wearing aprons and I certainly didn’t like the fact that the ice cream spoons were in a container on the counter to help yourself to - I would have had an ice cream as it looked lovely, but how many hands have touched those spoons? Vile! As I said, cakes were delicious, the coffee acceptable and it’s a lovely quirky looking place - but the service was dreadful and the staff seriously lacking in smiles and interaction. By the looks of the staff, they all looked like school kids/students who had been left to fend for themselves whilst the full timers had their day off. and their lack of experience and training was evident. Really pricey too but they’ve a captive audience in Balmaha (£1.10 for a Tunnocks caramel wafer is taking liberties and no manager or business owner on the planet can justify that extortion!). Sadly, based on our experience today I could not recommend nor would I return. (We visited at 10.50am on a Sunday, so God knows what it would have been like during the peak lunch rush - glad I wasn’t there!)

Lovely place, really busy but staff had a smile on their faces and never appeared under pressure. My daughter got a hot chocolate and her Gran asked if he had any marshmallows, 2 seconds later he reappeared and the server let my wee girl put the marshmallows, coco power ect on herself when he came to the table. The server was so patience and friendly and egged her on to put more me coco powder on and she thought this was magical as did me and her Gran. This type of service makes this place really special.

Considering that there’s no table service, we felt this was very expensive. The “regular” size of hot drink is very small so you’re shelling out nearly £3 for a takeaway coffee or hot chocolate (more if you want marshmallows or cream). Milkshakes are similarly overpriced and £3.75 for an obviously prepackaged cheese toastie. We weren’t offered napkins and the hot chocolate, which was very thin, went everywhere when the lid was taken off. Just feels like a bit of a rip off. Obviously very popular, but we’d rather go a couple of hundred metres up the road for a more relaxed and reasonably priced alternative.

Just ordered black coffee. The coffee shop was busy when we arrived which meant we had to wait for ages. It was a very nice coffee shop and clearly very popular. However, the coffee was expensive and we were not given large coffees like we ordered; it seemed they only did medium. Popped in for a coffee on a cold Feb day after a walk, on entering only one other couple in so not busy at all. Saw member of staff cleaning the display glass at the counter...she didn’t even look in our direction as we came in never mind a hello ! After sitting down expected her to come over....nope...just continued ignoring us and kept cleaning. Eventually had to ask her if we were meant to order at the counter which prompted her into taking our order of two extra hot coffees. Both arrived luke warm ...3 young members of staff behind counter at this point just engrossed in chatting to each other.Finished up and went to leave...and if we hadn’t said cheerio no one would have bothered...one girl out of the three did .Staff need a lesson in manners never mind customer service. This place could do with some competition and maybe they’d sit up and take notice.I won’t be back.

Spotted the welcoming-looking Cafe St Mocha across the road, so decided to pay them a visit. Wasn’t busy (no doubt due to the pouring rain) but we got a warm welcome from the young lady serving. My husband had a black coffee and I a hot chocolate, plus we each had a very large piece of white chocolate and cranberry tray bake - all delicious. We went up Conic Hill on a fine morning, only for a heavy rain shower to hit us on the top, so with no hanging around we descended and fancied a coffee. This place is directly across the road from the car park, and I think is attached to the adjacent Oak Tree Inn. It was full inside, but there are a number of tables outside and the sun had returned by then, so we enjoyed the fresh air. I had coffee and a piece of cappuccino sponge, which was very nice. Two of my friends had affogatos, and said they found the coffee bitter. When I think about it mine might have been a little bitter too, but the sweetness of the cake disguised it. Service was good and it's a nice atmosphere on a fine day.

As we walked the Way....and came down Conic Hill...we met a couple who said we should try this place for ice cream. Well we did....and it was fantastic! On a beautiful summer's day we sat and watched the world go by....definitely a recommended stop !

Gracias

The location is beautiful we stopped here as we were going swimming but I have to say we were very disappointed in the food no rolls as it was too late £6.80 for panini with cheese and some chutney is too much wouldn’t eat there again

We made the one way trek from Aberfoyle too this delighted cafe located on the loch, side , we were not disappointed met by welcoming staff , first impressions this was a well run establishment with a fine display of home baking , the small restaurant over looking the loch served a goods selection of snacks and meals , our choices were the fish soup , cheese scone prawn sandwich coffees very well presented particularly recommends the authentic Cullen Skink soup and good coffee, lovely to find this gem of a cafe
